Loading File From Input

how I can change my code so that somebody can actually input the specified file path, rather than having it fixed in the code. I previously used

Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.println("What is the filename?");
String input = in.nextLine();
File file = new File(input);

But then the program would not display the frequencies.
