Adding Sort And Total Inventory Methods In Inventory Class

Apr 30, 2014

for my assignment I am to only add the sort and total inventory methods in the inventory class. And not create an array in the inventory class at all. My inventory class should contain all the variables needed to use with the two new methods: sort and calculate total inventory.By not creating any array in the inventory class and not touching the variables at all.

What I have came up with is:

public class inventory
{
private int prodNumber; // product number
private String prodName; // product name
private int unitsTotal; // total units in stock
private double unitPrice; // price per unit
private double totalInventory; // amount of total inventory
// initialize four-argument constructor

[Code] ....

The error message I get is:

F:Java Programminginventory.java:62: error: cannot find symbol
return prodName.compareTo ( s. getprodName() );
^
symbol: method getprodName()
location: variable s of type inventory
1 error

Home Budget App

So for some reason my app works fine when I enter in the new expenses (option 2 when starting app).Then when I want to look up the total expenses in a month (case 5 then case 2), it doesn't show up and brings me back to the original option screen.So for some reason it must be breaking right back to it? I am really confused as to where this error could be coming from.

Android Eclipse Home Game Poker

Sep 1, 2014

I'm trying to create a Texas hold'em Poker application. A rough idea of it would be similar to those poker games on the playstore e.g. Zynga Poker, however it will be a simplified version, more of a home-based application, for a small group of friends. This way, we can get to play poker on the go with each other, like a private table on the go. Anyway, right now how do I get started?

1) How should I even start this project? Do I start the GUI for the application first? Start designing the applications with photoshop? I figured I need a skeletal guide to start and follow.

2) How do I connect all the players together to a table? I know I could use my phone as a Server, where the rest could connect to mine. But I'm not sure what I should research on. Also, as I'm working towards a "Portable, On the go Application". So I would like to work this more based on 3G/4G networks.

3) Database, I would like something to keep a record on the buy-in, winnings & losings so we can keep track of it. However, if the server was my phone. When I turn off the server, would the database be gone? Maybe I might be able to save it on a notepad in a folder on my phone? I think this is possible.

Home For Collection Of Objects Of Custom Class

Mar 31, 2015

Where should I keep a collection of instances of my custom class? In the class itself in a static variable?

class Item {
int quantity;
static ArrayList<Item> list = new ArrayList<Item>();
Item(int q) {
quantity = q;
list.add(this);
}
// Some methods and whatnot.
}

Is it fine like this or should I implement the collection elsewhere? What say you?

Baseball Team - Calculate Total Amount Of Home Runs Hit By Batters

Mar 24, 2014

So I have a class called Team that is a collection of players and managers for a baseball team, and one of my required methods is to calculate the total amount of Home Runs hit by the batters. Now along with the Team class I have an abstract Employee class, an abstract Player class and a Batter class that extends the Player class I thought this would be fairly easy but it is coming out to be pretty hard my code is as follow:

class Team {
public int _numPitcher;
public int _numBatter;
public String _manager;
public ArrayList<Player> team;

[Code] ....

The total salary works awesome but for some reason when I try and call up how many home runs a player has it wont call correctly I get this red line under my code that says: The method getHomeRuns() is undefined for type Player. I am trying to call this from the batter class which is an extension of the Player class...

Inventory Program - Display Information To GUI

Feb 28, 2015

I am trying to create a GUI with already existing code. My assignment is: Modify the Inventory Program to use a GUI. The GUI should display the information one product at a time, including the item number, the name of the product, the number of units in stock, the price of each unit, and the value of the inventory of that product. In addition, the GUI should display the value of the entire inventory, the additional attribute, and the restocking fee.

Where to start. The text book does not cover a GUI that displays this type of information rather it just displays graphics. I would like to create a separate class that holds the GUI information just to make everything flow better. I have provided my current code below:

Java Code:

// ProductTest.java
// by JakeB
public class ProductTest {
// main method begins
public static void main(String[] args) // begin main {
myGUI display = new myGUI();
display.setVisible(true);

[Code] .....

This is all I have for the GUI. I am at a total loss and I am behind 2 weeks now. I cannot move forward until I am able to get this done and the class ends next week.

Keeping Track Of Inventory For A Company - How To Update Variables

Feb 11, 2015

My program is supposed to be used to keep track of inventory for a company. The user is prompted with a menu that asks them which item they want to update and then gives them another menu that allows them to buy, sell, or change the price of the items. For this, I need to have the variable values to change (based on the input of the user), because they are initially set to specific numbers. How would I do this?

Here's the part of my code that is relevant to this question:

balance = 4000.00;
lampQuantity = 400;
lampPrice = 10;
chairQuantity = 250;
chairPrice = 20.00;
deskQuantity = 300;
deskPrice = 100.00;

System.out.println("Current Balance: $" + balance);
System.out.print("1. Lamps " + lampQuantity);
System.out.println(" at $" + lampPrice);
System.out.print("2. Chairs " + chairQuantity);
System.out.println(" at $" + chairPrice);

Inventory Program - Add / Delete / Modify / Search And Save

Feb 15, 2015

The goal was to add a few buttons an add delete modify search and save. I feel like I have the entire need satisfied. I'm having a few symbol problems which I'm not quite sure how to fix.

My full code is:

import javax.swing.*;
import java.io.BufferedWriter;
import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileWriter;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.awt.Color;
import java.awt.Dimension;
import java.awt.Graphics;

[Code] ....

which is directing me towards Prodname on the far right of the if statement. I'm not sure what the problem is. I've double checked my spellings several time for each spot and I cant quite get it.

Everyone has told me but I am aware that I made some bad decisions with the variables being capitalized this was my first go at a program and my instructor didn't let me know that thats the normal way to do it.

Inventory Form Program - User Update Data In The Table

Apr 30, 2015

I'm getting ready to code a program that takes record of items loaned and return in a table. I want more than one user to access the program to be able to update the data in the table. For instance, if one user added 5 new items to the table, all other users would be able open the program to see a modified table with 5 new items. Was looking for some advice and was wondering if implementing a database would work best.

Making Import / Export Of XML

Sep 17, 2014

I'm making an import/export of xml - I have the import of xml sorted I'm just trying to finish off the export. My export class is called XmlWriter.java. Inside the class I have an updateFile method to update an xml file as such:

public void updateFile(Environment environment,Document doc)
{
// code
}

I then in my main method have

public static void main(String argv[]){
 //declare new object of class
XmlWriter xmlWriter = new XmlWriter();
//test testUpdate method
// xmlWriter.testUpdate();
 Environment environment = ;

[code]....

I don't know what to make my variables equal to - eclipse keeps trying to use null but obviously that won't work. The Environment is another class that just contains getters and setters for the 3 different databases (that are in the xml file) and the getter/setter for the environment ID (also in xml file).

I have verified the new filter values are being set but the servlet is only being called on the initial request.at the head or called servlet I have(I also call a jquery empty on the div that holds the chart between requests. at the moment it just displays the former chart). Making A Rain Histogram

Mar 10, 2014

I prompted the user to enter inches of rainfall for seven days and stored them in an array. Now, I am trying to display a histogram of this data using a nested loop, but for each inch, I have to display a * like this:

Rainfall Histogram:
****
***
**
******
********
**********
**

The only way I know how to display a number of *s according to user input is by an if statement. I copied and pasted from a similar class assignment I did, so what I have so far is pretty messy and nonsensical:

static char DetermineRainfall(int inches)

System.out.println("Histogram");
//char inches;
for(inches = 0; inches < 7; inches++)
{
for(int j = 0; j < 1; j++)
{
if (rainamount > .9 && rainamount <= 1)
inches = '*';
return inches;
}
}

Making Applet Compatible With OSX

When I try to run the applet, I get an "Unable to launch the application" error because "No application resources are specified for this platform" After some digging , we noticed there are only resource instructions for "Windows".

Would there be any way possible to make this compatible in an OSX environment through a few alterations to the code, or would this be an issue that the original developers would have to resolve?

Here is the specific code pointing to the Windows Resources:
