Method Receives Queue As Parameter - How To Print A Stack

Nov 4, 2014

I'm doing an assignment where a method receives a Queue as a parameter then convert it into a stack, I made it but now I want to try it in my main, but how can I do this? there's no toString and I cant use a for loop because I'm using a queue and not an array. This is the head of my method:

public static void QueueStack(Queue<Integer> q){

Writing Method Symmetric Using Stack And Queue

Apr 19, 2015

The question is write to a method symmetric that accepts a stack of integers as a parameter and replaces the stack contents with itself plus a symmetrical version of itself (the same elements in the opposite order).

For example, suppose a variable s stores the following elements:
bottom [10, 50, 19, 54, 30, 67] top

After a call of symmetric(s),the stack would store the following elements
bottom [10, 50, 19, 54, 30, 67, 67, 30, 54, 19, 50, 10] top

Note that the symmetric version is added on to the top of what was originally in the stack. The bottom half of the stack contains the original numbers in the same order.

If your method is passed an empty stack, the result should be an empty stack.
If your method is passed a null stack, your method should throw an IllegalArgumentException.

a) Write the method symmetric using one temporary stack and one temporary queue.
/> Re-write the method using only one temporary Queue.

What I have done so far is

public static Stack symmetric(Stack s1){
Stack s2 =new Stack();
int theTop=0;
if(s1.isEmpty()){
return s1;

[Code] .....

Its not working.

Finding Road With Stack Or Queue

May 2, 2014

I have to make code about finding road with Stack or Queue. At first, I tried to make it in this way...

Java Code:

//public class QueueMain {
public static void main(String[] args){
int [][] arr = {{0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0}, //p
{0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0},//q
{0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0},//r
{0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0},//s
{0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0},//t
{0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0},//w
{0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0},//x
{0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1},//y
{0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0}};//z
String [] add = {"P", "Q", "R", "S", "T", "W", "X", "Y", "Z"};
int originnumber = 0;
int destinationnumber = 8;

[Code] ....

But it doesn't work at all. I tried to put visited address into array<mark>... but it didn't work.

Remove All Numbers From Queue And Push Onto Stack Until Operator Is Reached - Null Pointer Exception

Apr 26, 2015

This method keeps throwing a NullPointerException. Not only that, but its not doing what I want it to do.

Heres the code:

/*
Remove all the numbers from the queue and push onto the stack until an operator is reached
*/

private static void processQueue() {
// Check what is at the front of the queue. If an operator is found or the queue is empty, exit method.
while(queue.front() != null || !queue.front().equals("*") || !queue.front().equals("/") || !queue.front().equals("%")
|| !queue.front().equals("+") || !queue.front().equals("-"))
{
stack.push(queue.removeFront()); // push the operand onto the stack
}
}

Here is the method that calls the processQueue() method

/*
Process the mathematical expression using a stack and a queue
*/
private static double processExpression() {
// insert all elements from the stack to the queue for processing
while(stack.top() != null) {
queue.insertBack(stack.pop());

Print Queue Using Priority Q Simulation?

Nov 28, 2014

I have a class "ExecuteJob" which has Print Q in the form of Priority Q.

You can keep adding job to the Q by calling one of the method in the class. However, and object cant do things simultaneity can it? While im adding a new job to the print queue, can it be executing and existing job in the print Q.

To achieve that, I would need to implement process and threads? I believe am I right? So that adding a job is independent to being removed?

Linked Stack With Directory Won't Print

Apr 14, 2014

Im trying to create a linked stack that will hold the starting directory to the current directory, so that when i finish a directory it would go back to the parent. as i go through the files in a directory and find a child directory, i have to stack current directory and process the child directory, when thats done, pop the parent from the stack and continue processing it. Here is my code:

//import io File and ioexception
import java.io.File;
import java.io.IOException;

/*create class that will take a path to a directory, print the name of the argument directory, print the name of each file and directory in argument directory. Prints the directory name and each file and directory inside*/

public class dirStackPrint

[Code] .....

when I run the program, nothing prints, why is that? I'm having trouble understanding the processing of the top, push and pop functions, i have them in my code but they don't seem to be working as they should?

For Loop To Count Values Of Stack Of Quarters From 1.00 To 3.00 And Print Value Of Each Iteration

Nov 2, 2014

I had to write a foor loop to count the values of a stack of quarters from 1.00 to 3.00 and I had to print the values, that I understood and got it working so I taught the next assignment was going to be easier but I am having a hard time with it. For this one I have to write a for loop to print all the positive integer factors of 144 and I am supposed to print of factor per line but I tried doing that but it doesn't work it just prints out 144.

This is my code. The quarter assignment is also in there because it is part of a lab so just ignore that part since it is working correctly.

public class ForLoopPractice
{
public static void main(String [] args)
{
// Write a for loop to count out the values of a stack of quarters from $1.00 to $3.00
// Print the value of each iteration. Print this all on one line, rounded to the nearest cent.
// To print rounded, use printf, with a placeholder of %.2f
// (%f is the floating-point placeholder; the .2 indicates the number of decimal places)
/* YOUR CODE HERE */
for (double q = 1.00; q <= 3.00; q += .25)

Linked List Queue ToString Method

Oct 21, 2014

So I have to write all the methods for a LinkedListQueue. I've got isEmpty, enqueue and dequeue working correctly (I think) but I'm having trouble with the toString method. I tried to do it recursively and it works if there is only one element in the list, but with multiple elements it throws a StackOverflowerror exception. I've tried it multiple different ways, but I can't seem to figure out how to print it out with out clearing everything. We haven't been taught StringBuilder or .append yet, which I saw a lot of as I was looking for solutions, so I can't use those.

public class LinkedQueue<T>
{
protected LLNode<T> front; // reference to the front of this queue
protected LLNode<T> rear; // reference to the rear of this queue
private T info;
public LinkedQueue()
{
front = null;
rear = null;

[Code] ....

and this is the ITD used with it, for some reason it has the "empty the queue" function as a choice but we weren't assigned that function, so just ignore it.

import java.util.Scanner;
public class ITDLinkedQueue
{
public static void displayMenu()
{
System.out.println("(1) display menu");
System.out.println("(2) check isEmpty");
System.out.println("(3) enqueue");
System.out.println("(4) dequeue");

How Queue Sorting Method Work In Pseudo Code

Dec 1, 2014

This was shown in class the other day and I'm still not sure of how exactly it works, even after looking at it through a debugger.

public void sort(){
for (int i = 0; i < size; i++) {
Node temp1 = head;
Node temp2 = head;
Node temp3 = head;
while(temp2.next!=null){
temp3 = temp2.next;

[Code]...

Again, I didn't write this code I'm just trying to understand it. Why specifically do three different temp values need to be used instead of just one like in most sorts?

It is part of a larger program that can be found below.

import java.util.Random;
public class MyQueue implements IntegerQueue{
class Node{
Node next;
Integer data;
Node(Integer data){
this.data = data;

Method Overridden In Method Parameter?

Jul 20, 2014

I was following a tutorial for libGdx and suddenly became confused by the following syntax:

up.addListener(new ClickListener(){
public void clicked(InputEvent event, float x, float y){
position.y += 1f;
//currentFrame = animation.getKeyFrame(12);
}
});

"up" is basically a text Button:

TextButton up = new TextButton("up", textButtonStyle);

and .addListener is just one of the methods "TextButton" has (actually I think its inherited from "Button" but that doesn't matter).

Basically my question is what's going on inside the parentheses? From what I see its a new instance of "ClickListener" but then suddenly they override an actual method within. Is this simply just a way to override a method from the ClickListener class or is it something else?

Passing A Boolean Parameter From One Method To Other

Jan 30, 2015

public static int addAddress (String[] number, boolean[] front, double[] total) {
int num = 0;
double ffee = 0;
/*boolean value = false;*/

I have tried using the line of code commented out, /*boolean value = false;*/. However, another error is displayed. The compiler shows the following...

Inspection.java:33: error: incompatible types: boolean cannot be converted to boolean[]
front[num]= defineFront(num, value);
^
Note: Some messages have been simplified; recompile with -Xdiags:verbose to get full output error...I know that boolean values are by default stored as false, once you create the array. However, I'm having trouble passing the variable to the method.

Method That Accept Object As A Parameter

Jan 3, 2015

I have a method that accepts as a parameter an object:

public Cliente (String name, String lastname){
this.name = name;
this.lastname = lastname;

In the main add a Client in this way:

addClient(new Cliente("first", "second"));

public void addClient(Client c){

client[i] = c; // Enter a c in the array, but does not work!
System.out.println("test "+clienti[i]); // print Client@15db9743

Using Comparable Or Comparator As Parameter In Method

}
 public static void swap(Comparable []a,int i,int j)
{
     Comparable swap=a[i];

I did not get the use of passing Comparable or Comparator to the function as parameters. Object as parameter could have been used too?

Parametrized Array Type As Method Parameter?

Jul 31, 2014

I have the following method:

public static void doSomething(List<? extends GenericClass> input)
{
// op
}

^

This compiles and works, ensuring I can only pass in a List of a type extending GenericClass.But now I want it to accept an Array instead of List. This is where I'm stuck:

public static void doSomething(<? extends GenericClass>[] input)
{
// op
}

^

A wrong guess at the syntax which does not compile. One solution is to convert Array into ArrayList before calling the 1st method above, but I'd rather bypass this if possible.

Implement Hash Of Hashes As Method Parameter

Apr 28, 2015

I have a drop-down which contains the four sections simple buttons(filters). When click any of these buttons some settings are applied. I have successfully auotmated it using simple if else and switch but in that case i have to use 8 parameters(8 are the number of button)

public void editFilters(WebElement filter1, WebElement filter2, WebElement filter3, WebElement filter4,WebElement filter5,WebElement filter6,WebElement filter7,WebElement filter8 String edit, String expectedColour) {
switch (edit) {
case "selectFilter":
if (filter1 != null) {

[Code] .....

But want to make it more effective by using hashes. I do not want to use 8 different parameters to perform action on the respective button.

So now what i want to implement.

Create a method in which i pass the parameter1 as hash and 2nd parameter as 0 or 1, 0 means unSelectFilter and 1 means select the filter.

With parameter 1, in code i want to pass the name or xpath or anything else for any number of filters , that those filters names should be stored into that hash and then by passing 0 or 1, i can select/unselect those filters.
