Using Parallel Arrays To Store Names And Job Titles Then Display Combo Depending On Input

Dec 24, 2014

I am trying to use parallel arrays to store names and job titles, then display the name/job title combo depending on which is entered. I have always struggled with arrays, so I'm sure that's where my issue is, but I am not sure how to resolve this one. I tried to use the toString() method with the jobs to see if that would allow the job title to match to one of the titles listed, and I tried to not use the toString() method with the names to see if that would allow the name entered to match to one of the names listed in the array. Both options only display the "invalid" message no matter what I enter. What would be the best choice to use the arrays to properly display the information ....

import java.util.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
 public class JEmployeeTitle2 extends JApplet implements ActionListener
{
Container con = getContentPane();

Servlets :: Generate M By N Multiplication Table Based On User Input

May 8, 2014

I have a basic html form with one user input text box labeled "Enter a number" and a submit button labeled "Create a multiplication table". This is the working with a servlet to display an html formatted multiplication table. Everything else is working fine just the formatting is off; I can't seem to get the top row and far left column to number properly. It should look like this with the top row of numbers beginning with a blank cell and then numbering 1 thru n (depending on what the user selects. The first column should be the same, a blank cell and then 1 thru n. Then the multiplication table should be in the rows/columns of the table. Picture this:

I can't get mine to start with a blank cell in the top left-hand corner, instead it has 1 in that cell and the table starts calculating with 2x2.

Servlet code:

import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.PrintWriter;
import javax.servlet.ServletException;
import javax.servlet.annotation.WebServlet;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;

import java.util.*;

Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in);

[code]...

This program compiles but always returns "FUUUUUUUu", even if I'd typed "summer".

Compare User Input To Text File

Jun 6, 2014

I'm attempting to compare user input to a text file that I have set up whenever the user types in an employee ID number. I want to be able to tell the user that either the ID number is valid, or that it is not valid and must be re-entered by comparing it to the employee.txt file, and then record the valid ID number to the timeclock.txt file. I'm recording the next available employee ID number instead of the one I typed in. The output of the program looks like this: i82014/06/06 12:16:56 (I typed 1 as the employee ID.)

import java.text.*;
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
import java.nio.file.*;

public class TimeClockApp {
// declare class variables
private static EmployeeDAO employeeDAO = null;
private static Scanner sc = null;

Write User Input To Text File

Dec 8, 2014

I need to write a program where the user inputs name, age, email, and cell and write the user inputs to a text file. I need to have it so the file can be added to if more than one set of information is added. Currently, every time I click the button, the file is overwritten instead of added to. How do I correct this? Current code is as follows:

try
{
FileWriter writer = new FileWriter("ContactInformation.txt");
BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(writer);
nameTextField.write(bw);
bw.newLine();
ageTextField.write(bw);
bw.newLine();
emailTextField.write(bw);
bw.newLine();
cellTextField.write(bw);
bw.newLine();
bw.close();
nameTextField.setText("");
ageTextField.setText("");
emailTextField.setText("");
cellTextField.setText("");
nameTextField.requestFocus();
}

JavaFX 2.0 :: Manipulate Selection Of Rows In A Table

Oct 30, 2014

I have a little problem in my Java FX application. in a tableview, I add records whatever... And i have a button that delete the selected record in the tableview, This button delete too the related record in a database.

When I select a row in this table , I store the ID of that record in a global variable to have it available . Thus, when I click on the delete button, delete the record from the database based on the ID that I stored in the global variable.

The problem is that tableview has a curious property. If I select the last row and I click on the delete button ( removing the last record of the tableview ) , the next higher row is automatically selected ; and causes the ID value stored change .

The row is deleted in the tableview is correct but apparently , when it comes to the method deletes the record from the database, the global variable ID is already updated and delete another record.

I would like to disable that property of the table so that the row can be selected only by the mouse ... or some other solution .

...
@Override
public void initialize(URL url, ResourceBundle rb){
     table.getSelectionModel().setSelectionMode(SelectionMode.SINGLE);
     table.getSelectionModel().selectedItemProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener<Object>(){

Writing Data To A Static Table - Can't Populate All Fields With Data

Jun 24, 2015

I have a program which consist of several classes. The program reads a pom file and parses the data and then writes the data to a static table. The issue I'm having is with writing my LIB file data to my table. In the HtmlDataTable Class Im trying to write the files that are read in the lib directory to the table. My table currently consist of 3 columns (missing jar files,Lib Directory files, and POM file data) currently Im only able to write the missing jar files data to my table. In the HtmlDataTable class there is a for statement where I write the missing jar file data to my table. Im also trying to write the contents of the Lib directory within this statement as well. This is where I'm having my issue. My other classes consist of a SAX parser which parses the xml file, a class that creates my static table and a class that compares the jar files in my lib directory to the jar files in my pom file. . Theres a lot of code so I included the parts I felt were useful. If needed I can include the other classes as well.

public class ReadPomFile extends DefaultHandler {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try {
// obtain a SAX based parser to parse XML document

Swing/AWT/SWT :: How To Fill Text Fields With Selection From JList

May 2, 2015

I have an addressBook GUI where I have a JList that populates with the contacts names, and once I double click a contacts name I'm wanting to fill the textfields with the contacts corresponding data.

ex) ContactType: Family (enum), Name: Zoidberg, Address: 111 Space Drive, City: New York City, etc...

I've got it to where I select open from the JMenu, it populates the JList, but once I select a contacts name, all the textfields are populated, but only with the contacts name

ex) Name: Zoidberg, Address: Zoidberg, City: Zoidberg, etc....

What am i doing wrong here, and how can i fix it to where it fills out the correct data?

Here's my code so far:

public class AddressBookGUI extends JFrame {
private final int WIDTH = 450;
private final int HEIGHT = 300;
private JLabel currentlySelected;
private JTextField contactTypeTextField;

[code]...

I'm certain the logic is messed up near the end where i set all text fields to the index, because no matter what field i want to fill it's at it's going to set it to whatever index I select, but I don't know how to fix it.
