Take Input From User And Append Some Text To It - Output Null

I'm using one method to take input from the user and append some text to it, then I am trying to return the value of the variable and use another method to print it out. But for some reason whenever I try doing this I can't print out anything and I only get a "null" output. Why this is happening?

I have a form with primefaces input text(p:inputText).Many of the input text values are of the type currency in dollars.When i try to use ,it mandates the user to include $ symbol prepended to the value.Is there any way using which on blur of the field the dollar symbol is prepended and the number gets formatted with proper commas.
I am trying to write a program that will generate a QR Code from an input text and also display some information about the input/output bits. So far I have created the frame and what to do next. And I'm not sure if I am on the right track since my level of programming is not that great. By the way, I am using zxing libraries from GitHub. Now I have a code for spacing out the integers, and I have a separate code for adding the digits. But I am not sure how to merge them together. Both of them work independently

I have a project requiring me to build a program having a user input 3 words, sort them alphabetically and output the middle word. I have done some searching and seem to only come back with results for sorting 2 words. I so far have code to get the user input but I am completely lost as to how to sort them alphabetically.

The basic gist is it's "A program that reads in a text file that uses a specific input format and uses it to produce a formatted report for output."
Specifically :"For this lab you will write a Java program that produces a simple formatted report. The program will prompt the user to enter a file name. This file must contain information in a specific format (detailed below). Each "block" of the file contains information for one player in a competition -- the name of the player followed by a number of different scores that that player achieved. The program should find each player's average score, median score and best and worst scores and display them in a line on the final summary report. The program should also determine which player has the highest average score and which player has the lowest average score."
I get the following errors when I try and compile it:

I get that the error(s) reside in lines 68 and 27, among problem other areas, but I'm not exactly sure how I can fix them.

I'm attempting to compare user input to a text file that I have set up whenever the user types in an employee ID number. I want to be able to tell the user that either the ID number is valid, or that it is not valid and must be re-entered by comparing it to the employee.txt file, and then record the valid ID number to the timeclock.txt file. I'm recording the next available employee ID number instead of the one I typed in. The output of the program looks like this: i82014/06/06 12:16:56 (I typed 1 as the employee ID.)
I need to write a program where the user inputs name, age, email, and cell and write the user inputs to a text file. I need to have it so the file can be added to if more than one set of information is added. Currently, every time I click the button, the file is overwritten instead of added to. I can see the last two lines are telling the program to overwrite the first input with the second. Of course if I pick a different file name for the second output, I get another file with the second input, but I need to learn how to append as well.

so it will read any text file dynamically and output to the text pane in interface. I think scanner code must be execute after the select the file from the browser and set the scanned result in to variable. then later out put the var as string in some jswing component?

I have a textField in which I have text in. The text is enter customer name. I would like for this text to disappear whenever the user clicks on the textField to enter a customer name. I am using the automated swing gui builder in NetBeans. Is their some sort of feature for this under properties of the text field? If not then what are my other options?
