I'm making a program for school that reads a text file with answers to a personality test and prints the temperament to an output file. Problem is, it sets the temperament for the first person to INFJ and then prints INFJ for the rest of the people too. My code is below, and the input file 'personality.txt' goes like this:
I am working on my second javafx program and I am getting confused. The program that I am writing is a payroll calculator. A secondary window opens at the start of the program where the user first enters the number of employees and clicks submit to save the number and to close this window. Then, the user begins to enters the employee information (first name, last name, pay rate and hours worked) when the user clicks the NextEmp button, I want the data in the text fields to be entered into arrays for later use, then clear the fields for the next use. I am running into 2 issues. The first is the close event for the secondary window that pops up. I cannot figure out the syntax. The second issue that I am running into is the loop to store the data into the arrays. I believe I am getting the text field data correctly, but I cannot figure out how to stop the loop until the NextEmp button is pressed again.
In the "Humidity(%)" row, they come out fine, but when I do this, they come out as 0, which I think would explain why my heat indices are consistently lower than the temperature when the temperature is over 80.
My code:
import java.util.Scanner; import java.io.File; import java.io.IOException; public class HeatIndex { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { System.out.printf("%70s", "Heat Index: Key West, Florida");
I am creating a shopping list, with each element and object called product from the Item attribute class. Each product object has a description, price, and priority. From user input, I am able to create each product object, and then .add to my arraylist. I know that it successfully adds because I have it printed in each iteration of the do-while loop. Once the user indicates they want to quit, the loop ends. I then want to print each description, price, and quantity but this for loop will only print the last element over and over. Here is what I have:
ArrayList <ItemAttribute> list = new ArrayList<ItemAttribute>(); Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in); ItemAttribute product = new ItemAttribute(); public void findDescrPrice() { /** * Get the item name (description) for each list item
Many times I have read that JSF stores de view state in session and one of the things that are stored are the values of the form fields, right? But these input field values are not stored in session, I mean, they depend of the scope of the managed bean attached to the view. If I have a view and its attached to a view scoped bean with properties for the form fields, the values will dissapear if I go to other view because the bean is view scoped so I cant say the values of the form are stored in session, right?
Any compact if statement or any type of test for checking if atleast ONE out of 4 integers is null. So 1 of all, 2 of all, 3 of all, or all of them being null will give a specific result ELSE do something else.
I have created a class and a matrix of doubles (or at least, I think I have, that's partly what I want to verify).I need to return the values of the array,Here is my class:
public class example{ double[][] Position=new double[2][11]; double calculate(){ for (int time=0;time<=10;time=time+1){ Position[1][time]=time; Position[2][time]=time+1; double A=Position[2][time]; return A; } } }
I am getting the error: "This method must return a result of type double", though to me it looks like I am returning double (A).
hours - An array of seven integers to hold the number of hours worked by each employee.payRate - An array of seven doubles to hold each employee's hourly pay rate.wages - An array of seven doubles to hold each employee's gross wages.The class should relate the data in each array through the subscripts.
For example, the number in element 0 of the hours array should be the number of hours worked by the employee whose identification number is stored in element 0 of the employeeID array. That same employee's pay rate should be stored in element 0 of the payRate array. In addition to the appropriate accessor and mutator methods, the class should have a method that accepts an employee's identification number as an argument and returns the gross pay for that employee.Demonstrate the class in a complete program that displays each employee number and asks the user to enter that employee's hours and pay rate. It should then display each employee's identification number and gross wages.Input Validation: Do not accept negative values for hours or numbers less than 6.0 for a pay rate.
My problem with this program is that everytime I try to print the employee ID's or the wages, I get hashcode or something like it (#[I1a77cdc or something like that). I tried using the toString method, but it lists all of the values, when I'm trying to display one at a time. Here is the code for the class:
// moduleArray class public class moduleArray { final int NUM_EMPLOYEES = 7; int[] employeeID = {5658845, 4520125, 7895122, 8777541, 8451277, 1302850, 7580489}; int[] hours = new int[NUM_EMPLOYEES];
[code]...
This is the demo program to list the ID's. I've been messing with it for some time, and right now I just want it to display values.
import java.util.Scanner; public class moduleArrayDemo { public static void main(String[] args) { final int NUM_EMPLOYEES = 7; int[] ID = new int[NUM_EMPLOYEES];
/* Purpose: To write the methods and the rest program. The program should fill a 4 X 4 2 dimensional array with random numbers between 100 and 200. The program should then determine and print the largest and smallest values within the array using two Methods Largest and Smallest. The program should then determine and print the number of values within the array that are even using a function called Even. The program should also enter a loop that will only terminate when the user inputs a -1 as a choice. The loop should continue to ask the user to guess a number that was randomly generated. The program should call the Findit function to determine if the number was in the array. The program should print out the values in the array when the user selects a -1 and then terminate. */
import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.Random; public class LNFI_2DArray { public static void main(String[] args) { int guess; int[] array = new int[4];

I just had this code working, then all of a sudden i was hit with a 'keyboard leak' error code.
I started with Eclipse and wrote the basic "Hello World" app and added a few other lines of a=5, b=9, println (a*b) etc. and ran the program in the screen.
Then I thought that perhaps I could move it onto my nexus 7 and see what it looks like there. [I have a lot to learn I suppose].
The first issue is that I can't connect my Nexus 7 tablet to me macbook pro without using "android file transfer" and then the computer does not show the device in the finder because it is running through the file transfer program.
I have done some research and changed the settings in the nexus to connect as a camera rather than storage but that doesn't work either.
So my main issue now is being able to get the program onto the device - can it simply be copied and pasted into one of the files on the device using the file transfer screen?
User-defined classes. The concept of getters and setters goes right over my head. Right now we're to write a program to test the Person class below. We have to create 2 instances of the class to test each constructor, and test each method.
class Person { // Data Members private String name; // The name of this person private int age; // The age of this person private char gender; // The gender of this person // Default constructor public Person() { this("Not Given", 0, 'U');
[code]....
then my output will print out the name. But the assignment doesn't tell us to modify the Person class at all, just to create a tester one.
I'm working on a homework assignment and I keep getting a compiler message this is the message
GradesAverage.java:44: error: variable totalgrade might not have been initialized System.out.println("Over all you have " + totalgrade); ^ 1 error
The homework is this Write a program that has variables to hold three test scores. The program should ask the user to enter three test scores and then assign the values entered to the variables. The program should display the average of the test stores and the letter grade that is assigned for the test score average. Use the grading scheme in the following table:
Test Score Average Letter Grade 90-100 A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D Below 60 F
This is my code
import javax.swing.JOptionPane; // Needed for JOptionPane class import java.util.Scanner; // Needed for the scanner class public class GradesAverage { public static void main (String[] args)
So in trying to create a circle class, and use the dimensions of that circle (radius, area, etc.) to prove it will equal pie and print (3.141592653589793). This is my code so far it and am getting an error in the last two classes. I know it has to do with Circle(Radius); in the 2nd class but whenever i call upon it, it is assigned to itself. And in the last class im not too sure how to put the B= new b(1,1).
[public class Circle { private double radius; public Circle() { radius = 0; } public Circle(double radius) { this.radius = radius;
Write a program that asks the user to enter five test scores. The program should display a letter grade for each score and the average test score. Write the following methods in the program:
calculateAverage This method should accept five test scores as arguments and return the average of the scores. determineGrade This method should accept a test score as an argument and return a letter grade for the score, based on the following grading scale
Score Letter Grade 90-100 A 80-89 B 70-79 C 60-69 D Below 60 F
System.out.println("Enter the first score"); test1 = keyboard.nextDouble(); System.out.println("Enter the second score"); test2 = keyboard.nextDouble();
I did a problem from my book which is "Write a method that displays an n-by-n matrix. Each element is 0 or 1, which is generate randomly. Write a test program that prompts the user to enter n and displays the n-by-b matrix".
So if a user would enter 3, and output could be 0 1 1 0 1 0 1 0 1
So here's my question... I was able to get the program to work in the way my book describes (by just writing the code in the class with the main), but for practice, I want to learn how to do this OOP-style...
I'm not sure how to do this, though, since the method is a void method, so I can't seem to call it within a toString method.
import java.util.Scanner; public class MatrixTest { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("Enter an int"); int number = input.nextInt(); MatrixClass mc = new MatrixClass(number);
Four experiments are performed, each consisting of six tests. The number of test results for each experiment is entered by the user. Write a Java program using a nested loop to compute and display the average of the test results for each experiment.
You can run the program by entering the following test results:
I'm just learning about arrays. I have a small program to write that asks to create 2 arrays. One holding 5 names of flowers. One holding the prices of those 5 flowers. I ask the user what kind of flower they want and the quantity. I then need to create a loop that locates the flower name and uses that index to find the cost of the flower. I am struggling on how to write in code how to use one array index to find another. Example: Roses and $.50.
I am trying to figure out the Sieve of Eratosthenes program using arrays. I am trying to display the prime numbers of 1-100. My code right now is:
import java.text.DecimalFormat; import java.util.Scanner; public class TextLab06st { public static void main(String args[]) { // This main method needs additions for the 100 point version. Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println(" TextLab06
[code]...
I am getting the error <identifier? expected for the line "primes.[index] = false;"
I am designing a program that generates 3 random numbers from 1-5 and if 2 match, the user wins $1. If 3 match, the user wins respectively:
All 1s - $5 2s - $10 3s - $25 4s - $50 5s - $100
I first used a loop to run until the user runs out of money or wishes to stop. Then I made 2 methods. 1 to generate the random numbers and 1 to see if the user won any money. I am storing the random numbers in an array called slotnumber.
This is what I have so far but I am getting compiling errors at while (cont == 'y') {
import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.Random; public class SlotMachine {
I am trying to create a program that reads a sentence, such as: "abba is running to the radar" scans this sentence, and then prints out all the palindromes. I am running into issues with my arrays and for statements. Here is my code:
static String palindrome, backwardsLower, palindromeLower, palindromeClean, backwards2, backwards = ""; static String[] words; static int counter; public static void main(String[] args) { palindrome = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Please enter a phrase. " +
[Code] ...
I am aware that there is a few "useless" variables in there at the moment, I will clean them up (as well as some useless statements, I see those too). The issue comes at about line 17. The variable backwards REMOVES all the spaces from the array, so when it comes time to compare the strings, it is comparing individual words to the ENTIRE string, thus no words will ever be a palindrome.
SlotMachine.java:21: error: illegal start of expression public static void getNums(int [] slots) ^ SlotMachine.java:21: error: illegal start of expression public static void getNums(int [] slots)
[code]....
i keep fixing small things and cannot get it to compile. Below is the original code,
import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.Random; public class SlotMachine { public static void main (String args[]) { int userMoney; Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.print("How much money to start with?
My assignment is to essentially update a calculator program that uses strings, and methods, to include arrays. How to create and call an array that the user defines the size of and then inputs the numbers to fill the array. Here's the example my prof gave us of what the output should look like:
Menu 1. Add 2. Subtract 3. Multiply 4. Divide 5. Dot product 6. Generate random array 7. Quit
What would you like to do? 1
How many values are in the arrays? 3
Enter the values in the first array, separated by spaces: 2 4 6
Enter the values in the second array, separated by spaces: 1 3 5
The result is [3.0, 7.0, 11.0]
How to create an array that would allow the user to define the size of the array and then inputs the values for the array? I'm completely lost. I never should have taken java as an online class.
