View RepliesWhy can't I access a method from another class? For example, I want to get the value of get method from another class. It's giving me an error on if(getExamType() == 'M') That's what I've done, for example:
Java Code:
public static Exam[] collateExams(Exam[] exams){
Exam [] r = new Exam[50];
r = exams;
Exam [] finalExam = new Exam[50];
for(int i = 0; i < r.length; i++) {
if(getExamType() == 'M') {
}
}
return r; mh_sh_highlight_all('java');
I've got a CDI bean which is a facade for a JPA entity. Such entity has got a many to one relationship with itself and I've got the following method:
public Set<Account> getChildren() {
return this.children;
}
which is called in a JSF/Facelets page:
<h:commandLink action="#{accountController.destroy}" value="#{bundle.ListAccountDestroyLink}" rendered="#{item.children.size() == 0}"/>I then decided to return an unmodifiable set and changed getChildren() accordingly:
public Set<Account> getChildren() {
return Collections.unmodifiableSet(children);
}
The page now reports this error:
java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class javax.el.BeanELResolver can not access a member of class java.util.Collections$UnmodifiableCollection with modifiers "public"
at sun.reflect.Reflection.ensureMemberAccess(Reflection.java:65)
at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:588)
[Code] ....
javax.el.BeanELResolver is incorrectly failing because it's trying to invoke the size() method using reflection without correctly taking into account the method visibility (which is indeed invokable programmatically). I'm running NetBeans 6.8, Glassfish 3.0 and jdk1.6.0_17.
Is this a bug in BeanELResolver?
Why do we use public access modifiers with String toString() method in java while overriding???

In reference to the book "Head First Servlets and JSP, 2nd edition", chapter-3(), page-81, the command to compile the servlet file to the desired location is
javac -classpath UsersertApplications2 omcatcommonlibservlet-api.jar:classes:. -d classes src/com/example/web/BeerSelect.java (from the Myprojects/beer-V1 directory)
Whereas I have written
javac -classpath D:apache-tomcat-8.0.9-windows-x64apache-tomcat-8.0.9libservlet-api.jar;classes;. -d classes src/com/example/web/BeerSelect.java
(from the same directory as can be confirmed from the attachment of screenshot of error). this code is in accordance to the location of the respective files in my system, in particular the servlet-api.jar file.
After doing this, my computer is showing the error : file not found.
How do I resolve this? Actually, I don't understand completely what this code is trying to accomplish.

I'm getting the below error while trying to send the data ...
The requested resource (/cmd/InsertRegtodb) is not available.
Here cmd is project name and InsertRegtodb is servlet name.
Actually the servlet is present is the mentioned address. but it is not connecting to it
There is one more servlet in the same folder and which is accessible from another jsp. But this servlet is not accessible even though i have used same code as it is used for the servlet which worked for me previously...
Why is the logic not correct with the method public static boolean containsColor(String color, Circle [] ca)? It only returns me only false values.

private double radius;
private String color;

I am currently trying to access an EJB Session deployed in a Weblogic server from JBOSS.
The client code looks like this :
Hashtable environment = new Hashtable();
environment.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
environment.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, "weblogic.jndi.factories");
environment.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://<ip>:<port>");
InitialContext context = new InitialContext(environment);
ServiceHome home = (ServiceHome)context.lookup("ejb/Service");
When I run this code from a standalone java program it executes ok, but when I try to run it from an application deployed in JBOSS, the line (5) which creates the InitialContext object throws this Exception :
java.lang.ThreadDeath
org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1221)
org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1181)
weblogic.rmi.internal.StubGenerator.getStubClass(StubGenerator.java:696)
weblogic.rmi.internal.StubGenerator.generateStub(StubGenerator.java:742)
[Code]....
In order to be able to use weblogic naming factory I put the archive weblogic-8.1.6.0.jar in jboss's /server/default/lib directory. But I think it has to do with JNDI conflicts between JBOSS and weblogic.
I am having a little trouble with a part of my Java assignment that needs to have linked lists in it.
I need to write a public method that takes an array of type object to load strings into a linked list.
I am trying to make a program where a ball moves up continuously when you press space, then begins to move down when you reach a certain point. My method for this is to have a timer, and have a method that does this: When you press space, add 10 y coords every second (using a timer), and if you reach 470 y, then begin to drop 10 y coords. I made a method to hold the keylistener, and am running that method inside the actionPerformed method which is within another class. However, since it is a method, I cannot add my keylistener to my frame in the main method.

I have the below piece of code in my jsp page.
<% double randomNum= Math.random(); %>
<%= randomNum%>
Now I am trying to run this jsp, it will be translated into servlet. When i checked the generated servlet I found both the above code snippet(scriplet and expression) came in to _jspService method. But in the internet and in many other book i found that scriplet and expression portions will come in the doGet/doPost method (which will be called from jspservice).
So any specific reason why in this case it went in to jspservice method (though I am getting desired output)? I am using tomcat 6.
XML request message using HTTP POST is received by the Servlet interface. While we are reading and trying to parse the InputStreamObject, we are getting the following error message.
doPost java.io.CharConversionException: Characters larger than 4 bytes are not supported: byte 0x8e implies a length of more than 4 bytes
It looks like we are receiving some invalid Non-ASCII characters in the XML message.
The above error is thrown intermittently. Whenever we have this CharConversionException, the servlet gets corrupted and it impacts few good xml messages that follows after the error.
I need to know the following:
1. How to fix this exception and skip the bad message?
2. Is it possible to log the entire xml message in the catch block, whenever we have this exception?
NOTE: we tried different ways, not able to print the xml message, as the inputstream seems to be closed/null, when it reaches the catch block.
Tried the below code , but the servlet process/thread hungs and throws the below error:
Thread "WebContainer : 3" (00000028) has been active for 667781 milliseconds and may be hung. There is/are 1 thread(s) in total in the server that may be hung.
Below is the code snippet:
public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException {
response.setContentType("text/xml");
request.setCharacterEncoding("ISO-8859-1");
OutputStream out = response.getOutputStream();
InputStream inputStream=null;
[Code] ....
Issue of either fixing/overcoming the actual exception and printing out the entire xml message(bad one) in ours log during the catch block.
I have a situation to load data while JSF page loads. Also have a filter which populates user information from http request.
I was expecting the filter first to populate the user information and in the managed bean get method to verify the user information and get the data (from database). But in this case i see the managed bean get method is invoked before filter populates user information and i get null pointer exception because the user information is null.
I had to work around to get the user information from FacesContext in the managed bean get method because the user information wasn't available. Is there a way to make sure the filter is invoked first?
We have two servlets application running on same server with Java EE 6 with below mention application URL.
Servlet1 Application URL: http://<severname>/*servlet1*
Servlet2 Application URL: http://<severname>/*servlet2*
My question is how to call Servlet2 from Servlet1 with Post method without using server name. May be something like this:
servlet.invoke(servlet2).
Why is it that a protected method cannot be accessed polymorphically outside its package. I suspect the reason is that some compile-time checks have to be performed. Is this correct?

This time I have to make a Black Jack game ( I guess this is a classic) I have created Three classes for this BlackJack( Main), Card, and Player.
What I am trying to do is put the Give one card to the player and remove it from the deck into a separate procedure because I will be doing this several times during the game.
This is the code I have so far Under the class BlackJack.

package black.jack;
import java.util.ArrayList;
import java.util.Arrays;
import java.util.Collections;
import java.util.Scanner;

I have a hyperlink say,
[URL]
now, i want to access a managed bean's method to execute a service call related to the code embedded in the hyperlink.
My Managed bean
@ManagedBean(name="details")
@SessionScoped
public class XXXX extends Bean implements Serializable{
public XXXX(){...... }
public myMethod(..){
service.getDataRelatedToHyperlinkCode(....passing code here to fetch details from DB)
}
}
if i use postConstruct annotation it is getting executed only once since it is a session scope. and point to be noted is i cannot use viewscope and requestscope.
currently I am doing my java web application project ,and it has following steps 1) Upload the txt files 2) java servlet gets the txt file's url , read the data and do the calculation 3) pass the results
I almost finished the second step , and working on the first step .Since there are so many input files at a given time , i have to use drag and drop method to get the file's location.how to pass file's path to servlet.( servlet code can read the data from the given txt file path )software used - tomcat and netbeans 8.0
Is it possible to get data directly from request object in service method of servlet than why it is not possible to write directly into response object through service method instead of this we have to take PrintWriter or ServletOutputStream class object....

View Replies View RelatedI need to debug the equals method implementation of a class I've made, but I cannot for the life of me get Netbeans' debugger to step into it. I can step into other methods from the class (most of which implement the methods in an interface) that are called in the main method (just like the equals method). I've tried...
-Disabling all the step filters
-Clearing the Netbeans cache
-Moving the call to the equals method out of the if statement it's in and just calling it as its own statement
-placing breakpoints within the equals method as well as on the call to the method
-placing a method breakpoint on the overridden equals method in addition to the other locations
-Using the shift-F7 version of the step into command
I'm using Netbeans 8.0.1 (I don't know if this is the latest version, but the last time I tried to update everything died and I had to completely remove NB and reinstall it) and JDK 8u05 (I think).
I have a question about an error I am getting when trying to pass a two dimensional array to a method. I keep getting the "incompatible types, int cannot be converted to int[][]". I am getting the error in a few different place (see comments - at the first call of the method, at a recursive call, and at the return statement. I believe I am passing the same type of array in all cases to the type of array defined in the method parameters.
Below is my code.
// this is a call from the main method
int[][] c = new int[temp1.length][temp1.length];
c = MatrixMultiply(a,b); // this is first place the error occurs
} // end main
