You are given a text. Write a program which outputs its lines according to the following rules:
If line length is ≤ 55 characters, print it without any changes.
If the line length is > 55 characters, change it as follows:
Trim the line to 40 characters.
If there are spaces in the resulting string, trim it once again to the last space (the space should be trimmed too).
Add a string... <Read More> to the end of the resulting string and print it.
I felt as if I did do what they were asking, but for some reason, I'm getting "Sorry, Unable to read file!"."Instead of using file, I did use the location of the file name".Also, I've attached a image of the input looks like and the output.
My CODE:
import java.io.BufferedReader;
import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileReader;
public class Main {
public static void main (String[]args)
{
try{

I'm getting an IllegalArgumentException returned when I try to get a file using guava library.
I previously had the function working when the file was in a different location, before I switched to running JBehave, my steps run but it fails to find the resource, even after I've moved it.
The code being executed is (this worked previously before using JBehave):
String xMLTemplateFileName = "OBOE-confirmation"
public static void setXMLTemplateFile(String xMLTemplateFileName) throws IOException {
URL url = Resources.getResource(xMLTemplateFileName+".xml");
The file I'm looking for is in the root folder for src/main/resources and also src/test/resources, previously I had it within a completely different location before I switched over to JBehave. I've tried it within a subdirectory in the same locations too.
I've recently updated the pom.xml to try to include the location required.
Extract from pom is below:
<!-- JBehave Build Details -->
<build>
<pluginManagement>
<plugins>
<plugin>
<groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId>
<artifactId>jaxb2-maven-plugin</artifactId>

Well my code is supposed to ask for an input file and then (ex: input.txt), read the input file and create an output.txt file with the anagram for the words in the file. Also it should be displayed on the screen. However my code doesn't display the anagram on screen or the output file!
Heres is the code:
import java.io.*;
import java.lang.*;
import java.util.*;
/* This program will read a file given by the user, read the words within the file and determine anagrams of the given words. If the file that the user inputs is empty, then the program will output "The input file is empty."
* The program will read the file line by line, counting the total number of words read. If there are more than 50 words, "There are more than 50 words."
* will be printed, and the program will terminate. After each line is read, the words in the line will be separated,punctuation characters will be removed, and upper case characters will be switched to lower case.
* If any word is larger than 12 characters, that word will not be considered in the total amount of words in the file and it will not be sorted.
* After each word is read, the letters will be sorted and stored into an array containing each
* word's 'signature'. After all the words have been read, words will be printed to the output file on the same line based upon their signature.
*/

//Creating constants for maximum words in file and maximum chars in word

public static final int MAX_WORDS = 50;

I am trying to read a file and input each line of the file into an array. I have not set the array size as I was hoping to fill the array using a while loop. Unfortunately the scope of the array does to work inside the while loop so I am being told that the array 'students' has not been initialised even though it has just outside of the while loop. Is it possible to do what I am trying to without having the array initialised in the while loop as surely the array will be reset every time if it was in the while loop? Here is my code:
public static void students(String file) throws FileNotFoundException {
try {
File studentInfo = new File(file);
Scanner input = new Scanner(studentInfo);
String[] students;

I need to write a program that will let a user input name, age, email, and cell phone number, and commit the input to a text file. They need to add multiple entries. I figured out how to create the file and write to it, but when the user enters a second set of information, the first is overwritten. How can I make the file be added to instead of overwritten? The following is my code:
try
{
FileWriter writer = new FileWriter("ContactInformation.txt");
BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(writer);
nameTextField.write(bw);
bw.newLine();

StringTokenizer inputField = new StringTokenizer(lineOfInput, ",");
while(inputField.hasMoreElements()) //for each fields is a line

lastName = inputField.nextElement().toString();
firstName = inputField.nextElement().toString();

I've been trying to pull data from another class file "Calculations.java" and have it be displayed in a TextField in "DataAnalyzerGUI.java". Here is how the hierarchy is broken down for my assignment:
DataAnalyzerGUI.java extends JFrame
ReadFiles.java extends DataAnalyzerGUI.java
Calculations.java extends ReadFiles.java
Everything displays and functions correctly in a command prompt if I use a line like this:
System.out.println ("Lowest opening " + dateArray[lowestOpenIndex] + ": " + dataArray[lowestOpenIndex][2]);
But trying to get it to display in a GUI has been quite troubling.
I know the code is supposed to look something like this:
dataOutput.setText(DESIRED CODE HERE);
But I am unable to find anything of value to work out.
I have attached my complete project....
Attached File(s)
Assignment 4.pdf (247.05K)
Assignment 4.zip (235.81K)

The program loads, but nothing shows. I did some research and saw that I needed to set the JFrame to visible at the bottom of the frame section. I made the change, but it still does not show anything. Do I need to add everything that I added to the content pane to the frame? From my understanding you add elements to the panel, the panel to the contentPane, then the pane to the frame...

I decided to write a small Java program to experiment around with BorderLayout, because I'm developing a Java game and I need to have 2 objects placed in a single JFrame at the same time, and everyone I asked said I need BorderLayout to do that.Before you answer: Also, is using BorderLayout the best option for adding multiple video game oriented objects such a sprites to a JFrame?
So the Java program I wrote is supposed to place a JButton on the JFrame and ALSO place a graphic component (a rectangle in this case). The problem is, only the button shows up, as can be seen in the image link below: URL....
Here is the code:
**main.java** --> The main method class + JFrame/JPanel/JButton constructor
import java.awt.BorderLayout;

import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JPanel;

I'm making a Pacman look-a-like game, now I'm making the map out of an 2D array (as a grid). I already initialized the 2d array spots with "0" and "1". I managed to do this but now I'm stuck.
I want to use the "0" and "1" to print the map. For example the "0" are grass and the "1" are walls. The map should be printed within a JFrame. And I would like to make the width and height 32x32 pixels.
I searched on the internet and i found a couple of example codes but non of it seems to work properly. This is the code I'm using to make the 2D array and initialize the spots.:
public class Level1 extends javax.swing.JFrame{
final int ROWS = 17;
final int COLS = 17;
int[][] field = new int[ROWS][COLS];
public Level1() {
initComponents();
setLocationRelativeTo(null);

public static void main(String[] args) {
String regex="01[4-6]";
String code="015";
boolean bool=code.matches(regex);
System.out.println(bool);

But when i try to give range in double digits, it throws exception. What if i have to match a number(as string) between 10 to 25 or like that.
public static void main(String[] args) {
String regex="0[14-16]";

boolean bool=code.matches(regex);
