I am working on a number of utility functions for square matrices and arrays, and I keep having trouble with segmentation faults.

I'm trying to create a cursor for a game that moves square by square. While it will move to the next square, though, it leaves the image of the previous cursor on the last square it was on.
As a visual explanation, this is what the program looks like on launch:

I'm fully aware that I could just use g.clearRect on the area and remove it for sure, but I know for a fact I shouldn't have to as I have another program I made a long time ago that tried to do something similar without needing to resort to that.

How would I compare the square of the square root of any number. The difference in these values is due to the rounding error in Java.
Example: Enter number 2
The answer I should get is: 2.000000000000004
Round off error: -4.440892

I am working on a program where i calculate a fee using a method. I know i have to import the decimal format utility of java. "import java.text.DecimalFormat;" then i have to create an object for the decimal format. With "DecimalFormat f = new DecimalFormat("0.00");" What i am wondering how do i apply it to my system.out.println statement. I know i have to use for instance f.format(calculateFee()); Is that the right syntax for displaying the results because i generate a syntax error that way.

I was assigned to create a program that opens up a window that asked the user for an input of 0-10. This input will create three windows with the correct number of rows and columns of JTextFields in the form of a matrix. the third window has a button that adds the two matrices (which also take user input) and adds them together and prints them in the correct matrix fields. I am having trouble declaring the 2d array from the user input and creating the windows with the correct amount of jtextfields to move on with my program.

This is the method public void populateMatrices(int [][]mat1, int [][]mat2). I know how to do it for one matrix, but what do we do for the additional matrix? Here is the code I have so far.

I am instructed to create a program that reads input from the user and turns it into a desired matrix size (row and column between 0-10). I have written the code for the input window, however I am having trouble with the Event Handler for the JButton in said window. The JButton should read the info (row and column size) and create three new windows. Two of the windows will hold info entered into the matrix by the user, and the third window will have another button that adds the two matrices together and shows the output. I have always had trouble comprehending how to use and implement JButtons. Here's my code thus far.

I develop a finite element code at java. I am looking for efficiency solver and fast for large, sparse , symmetric and positive define matrices .
i used in jblas but i encounter in problem when the matrix has high condition number(ill condition number) and i get error for singular matrix while in mathematica i succeed to solve that system without problems...

Write a function (or functions) that given a collection of files will produce a sum of integers from each line of each file. Each file can have any number of lines from 1 to N. Each line can contain only one integer and no other alphanumeric characters. All of the numbers from all of the files should be added to the final result. The result is just one number.

This code is for a game I'm making. I'm new to using modulus, and I've been looking all over the place for a tutorial that I can understand. No luck. :
What I'm trying to do is get the console to print "enemy hits player" as soon as enemyAttacksPlayer() is called.
After one second, "player hits enemy" should be printed, so it alternates between these two lines every second.
The issue is when I call enemyAttacksPlayer(), it takes a few seconds to print any lines, and this delay is kinda annoying.

I have an overloaded function 'f' as follows:
1. public void f(int i, long j){System.out.println("1");}
2. public void f(int...i){System.out.println("2");}
3. public void f(long l, long p){System.out.println("3");}
4. public void f(int j, int k){System.out.println("4");}
With the function call: f(1,2), the output is: 4.
My questions are the following:
a. Why is the compiler choosing #4 to execute and not the rest?
b. If I remove 4 and replace it with: 5. public void f(long j, int k){System.out.println("5");}, why does the compiler now give an error complaining of ambiguous function defintions when 'f' is called?

I am writing a program for my Java class and I have every function of the program working aside from the modify and delete button. I'm not sure how to make them work. The course material doesn't cover these functions at all.

I am a 3rd year electrical engineer and I am working on a project on solar cell design in the developing world.For my project I am looking to create a very simple web page which can be used by people in the developing world to determine whether a photo voltaic system is suitable to their needs.
For this I want to have simple boxes where a user can input numbers and I used complex calculations to return values (a lot of trigonometric functions etc.), the values then should have the opportunity to be altered to the users digression. This will create a solar model.
For the load aspect of it I am looking to have drop down boxes for a number of components which the user can select and will have a numerical value in Watts which will sum to give total load on system. Ideally I would like to show this graphically in a pie chart showing how much energy each component is taking to give the option to remove.
I am also creating a statistical model which determines the likelihood of having no sunlight on a given day which looks at the solar output, battery capacity and load on the system and will return reliability of the system - this has not been completed but should be shortly.
Aim is to keep web page as simple as possible as unskilled computer users may want to use it.
