I need to turn some strings from:
'1-the-high-street'
to:
'1 The High Street'
But...
if string is
'the-dog-and-duck'
I want to achieve
'The Dog and Duck'
...whereby the 'and' is NOT converted to title case
My code as follows:
String propertyPageTitle = "1-the-high-street";
propertyPageTitle = propertyPageTitle.replace("-", " ");
propertyPageTitle = WordUtils.capitalizeFully(propertyPageTitle);
System.out.println(propertyPageTitle);
prints: '1 The High Street'
How could I handle the second scenario so it does not convert 'and' to titlecase?

I am trying to write a specific byte sequence to a specific memory location on a removable storage drive. Does Java allow me a way to do this? I know the dangers in accessing memory, but the memory location of the data that will be written will never change.

I'm trying to create a simple java math question quiz using random operators, but keep sinking myself into deeper despair. The numbers must range from 0-9 and given an operator: +,-,/,*,%. Can't create a new method or use Case statements. The code isn't finished but don't want to make it any worse.

import java.util.Scanner;
import java.util.Random;
public class Project {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in);
Random rand = new Random();

I am having some trouble with this program. The assignment is to write a program, given a seven-digit phone number, uses a PrintStream object to write to a file every possible seven-letter word combination that corresponds to that number. I have to avoid using 0 or 1. Here is my code.
import java.io.FileOutputStream;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.PrintStream;
import java.util.Scanner;
public class TelephoneGenerator
{
String phoneNumber;
char numberLetters[][] = {
[Code] ....
I am getting an error dealing with the main class.

I'm working on a simple 2D Game Framework. Currently it's creating a window, but I'm working on an update method.
I constantly export the framework as a .jar file, and I've added it to the game's build path (using eclipse). I wonder if I can check all classes in the game-project (the project in which I've refecrenced the Framework in) for a specific method (for example update()) and call all found methods with that name from the framework's main class, like this:
public class FrameworkClass1 {
private void checkForUpdateMethods() {
// Check for update methods on program start
} public void update() {
runAllFoundUpdateMethods(); // Run all update methods found in the scan
}
}
I want to do this because it would be a simple way to update and render the game. If the main game-class look something like this:
public class Game {
public void update() {
// Update the game every time this is ran
}
}
it will be automatically updated, because it contains a method named update(), instead of naming the main game-class with a specific name etc. It will simply be more flexible that way!

I'm trying to make a program that will count each letter like if I put the word
e-1
h-1
l-2
o-1
The problem I'm running into is that if I put something like How now, brown cow? It should give me something like this
b - 1
c - 1
h - 1
n - 2
o - 4
r - 1
w - 4
but it doesn't instead the whole program crashes because of the punctuation marks and the spacing. Is there a way for me to fix that? All I know is that it has something to do with the alphabet[pos(letter)]++;
import java.util.Scanner;
public class CharCount {
static Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in);
//this method should allow the user to enter a line of text (that should all be lower case) and then go to the printResults method
public static void main(String[] args) {
String text, character;
int count;
char letter;
int[] alphabet;
System.out.println("Enter a line of text:");
text = keyboard.nextLine().toLowerCase();// any text entered will be lower case
alphabet=countLetters(text);
[code]....

From what i understand static methods should be called without creating an instance of the same class . If so why would they return an instance of the same class like in the following : public static Location locateLargest(double[][] a) , the Location class being the same class where the method is defined . I don't understand this , does it mean that every field and every method in the class must be static ? Meaning that you cannot have instances of the class because everything is static . Or it's just a mistake and the class Location cannot have a static method: public static Location locateLargest(double[][] a) ?

I want to make a method that takes a word and then checks if the word can be created from available letters. For example, if a word "johnson" can be created by using letters "jashoqwnon".
Now my goal is to make sure that if available letters contain a letter from the word, that letter is put into a String called result and then erased from the list of given letters. So, "johnson" and "jashoqwn" would produce the result "johns" and leave "aqw" unused.
Now the problem that I am facing is that I can't get Java not to use the same letter twice. So "johnson" and "jashoqwn" still gives "johnson".
I've tried everything in my power but I am missing something. Here is my code.
public static String makeAWord(String word, String letters){
String result = "";
for(int i = 0; i < word.length(); i++){
for(int j = 0; j < letters.length() ; j++){

How do I move focus from a jcombobox to a specific component say a jtextarea.
My attempt below seems to be moving to a random component not the desired jtextarea.
takenByCombo.addKeyListener(new KeyAdapter() {
public void keyPressed(KeyEvent e) {
if (e.getKeyCode() == KeyEvent.VK_TAB ) {
e.consume();
dayJTArea.requestFocus(); // focust not moving dayJTArea
}
}
});
I applied the above logic to move focus from a specific jtextarea to another jtextarea as seen below and it works as desired.
dayJTArea.addKeyListener(new KeyAdapter() {
public void keyPressed(KeyEvent e) {
if (e.getKeyCode() == KeyEvent.VK_TAB ) {
e.consume();
monthJTArea.requestFocus();
}

So here we go with my problem:
- from the main class will arrive three variable (String name_used, int level_choose, int level_result)
I have a .txt file with this kind of formatting:
mario 1 1 0 1 0 1
carlo 0 0 0 1 1 0
...
Where I use 1 and 0 in the main for write if the level (you see that the numbers are always sixr? are egual to six level existing) BEFORE is done correct or wrong
- when in the main a user make a level a feedback coming back from the class level saying if the user made the count correctly or wrong. and i wanna replace the value (1 or 0) in the txt file with the new level result.
So i have all what i need as parameters i think.
name_used to look for the correct line in .txt file with .indexOf
level_choosed to go throught the correct index of that line
level_result (1 or 2) to be replaced with the existing one
Java Code:
public void salvaRisultati(String name_used, int level_choosed, int result_of_level) throws FileNotFoundException{
}
} mh_sh_highlight_all('java');

I have some problem to understand the way to make this:
In my main class a user can save his name in a txt file (and the system initially will add 6 value equals to 0) than he can choose between 6 level and make it.
example of .txt file data:
mario 0 0 0 0 0 0
carl 0 0 0 0 0 0
AT THIS MOMENT i just made other class and they work, is this new one that is hard for me. I'm trying to make a class that:
1- (first method called verificaRisultati) take name_used and level_choosed from the main and go to check in the .txt file if that level before was done right(1) or wrong(0)
and return something like "before you made this level properly" or "before you made this level incorrectly" AND THEN let the user start with the level.
2- (second method called salvaRisultati) at the end of the level i wanna pass the result (correct/incorrect) to another method of this class that will save the value (1 or 0) associated to the user in the right position.
This is the class that i'm writing:
Java Code:
import java.io.BufferedReader;
import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
import java.io.FileReader;
public class ResultUsers {
[Code] ....
I really need some hint and some code example because I'm stuck. How I can take exactly the line with the user name? How I can correctly split the line in an array and then read/modify the value for that level?

I have built a binary tree, from a file. In each node, I am storing each word as a string, and an int frequency for each time the word occurs. For the assignment, I need to find how many words occur only once in the file. I wrote the program, but for some reason I am getting a number different from what my professor is expecting.
As far as I know, this file has loaded into the tree correctly, because all of my other answers in the assignment are correct. What am I doing wrong?
public void findUnique() {
System.out.println("There are " + findUniqueWords(root, 0) + " unique words.");
}
private int findUniqueWords(Node subTree, int uniqueCount) {
// Base Case: At the end of the branch
if(subTree == null){
return uniqueCount;

The intentions of this program is to prompt a user to enter a file name, and then reads the file. The program will prompt the user to enter a word that needs to be corrected. So lets say I have a text file containing "My name is OP and I Like goind to the Park!" I want to change "goind" to "going",
Now, my second method "isSimilar" executes a similar word with more than one same letter and same length, but I dont know how to execute that whole thing in my third method "correctThisLine" . How I can call that isSimilar method and read in that text file and change that word into that?
import java.util.*;
import java.io.File;
import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
import java.util.Scanner;
public class WahidMuhammadA3Q2{
String fileName = "AutoCorrectMe.txt";
public static void main (String [] args){

I am looking for java codes to generate a word document based on a word template, basically, I have a word template created and in my local path, the template has a proper format with some fields which will be filled in after java codes ran. The java codes will fetch one record from a table, and open the word template and then fill the fields in the word template, and created a new word document and save it in another folder.
I found this example: [URL] which is similar except it uses xml template instead of word template, how to make it work to change the template from xml to word (docx) template?

I have a question related to trees in Java. The following code is given:
public class BinarySearchTree {
private Node root;
public BinarySearchTree() {
this.root = null;
}
public BinarySearchTree(Node root) {
[Code] ....
The inorder-method is the one that really imports. I have to go through a tree using the Inorder-method. I do understand how this works, however I don't understand how the code fits to the inorder process. I understand the code up to the point where it reaches the most left "root", but then I do not know how to go further. How do I reach the root above then?

Write a method that prints characters using the following: public static void printChars(char ch1, char ch2, int numberPerLine). This method prints the characters between ch1 and ch2 with specific numbers per line. Characters are separated by exactly one space.Test your method with the following main method:
public static void main(String[] args)
{
printChars(‘A’,’z’,10);
printChars(‘0’,’9’,5);

So here is a method i wrote for the first part for initializing an array:The question was, "write a method which initializes a 2D target array (assuming all other classes have been imported and given), and all targets should be stationary."and this was my method i wrote:
public void initializeTargetArray(Target[][] targets) {
int row = targets.length();
int col = targets[0].length;
for(int i = 0; i < row; i++)
for (int j = 0; j < col; j++)
targets[i][j] = new Target(Target.STATIONARY, false);
}
Now my question how do I initialize an array similar to the method above for a different question?
Quote
Part b
Write a method which initializes an array (You can assume that the 2D array itself (but not the Target
objects inside) is already initialized), where the game level stage is now set:
Game level 1 - all targets are stationary,
Game level 2 - For even numbered rows, targets at even numbered columns are stationary, targets at odd
numbered columns are movable. For odd numbered rows, targets at odd numbered columns are
stationary, targets at even numbered columns are movable.
Game Level 3 - All targets are movable.
public void initializeTargetArray(Target[][] targets, int gameLevel) {
//*** Finish this method. ***//
