2 Customized Menu In One Database

Nov 5, 2005

Hi,

I have seen a MDE Access db last week with 2 new things in it

1. The db had 2 customized menu (1st one was in English and Second one
was in Local language). There was small button on customized menu bar called 'E' by clicking of which the whole customized menu was
replaced by English menu bar. In fact the db was created for bilingual
user. There was only one customized menu bar at a time. Means if you click command button 'E' it was replacing the local language menu bar with English bar and if you click 'E' second time (This time the button caption is in local langauge), the English language menu bar was re-appearing

2. When the user clicked to change menu to English, all the forms and
report captions turned into English.

It was very new thing for me.

I am interested to apply the same tricks in my db so the user can
handle my db in local language even if don't know English well.

I would be grateful to If somebody amongst you know and donate to our
access family in a sample db (At least replacing menu trick) ...

Thanks,

With kind regards,
Ashfaque

Creating Customized Menu Bars

Aug 4, 2005

Greetings.

I am pulling my hair out trying to create a customized menu bar. Eventually, I want to have a customized menu bar and tool bar for report and different customized menu bar and tool bar for forms. I created the tool bar for the report window. Then when I tried to create a new menu bar I could not remove menu selections without removing the same menu selections from the default Menu Bar.

I selected View->Toolbars->Customize...
Then I clicked on New (command button)
Then I named it (RptMenuBar)
Then I selected 'Built-In Menus' from the Commands Tab
Then I dragged the 'File' from the Command list into the new Menu Bar
Then I went to the new menu bar and dropped down the selections under File and started to left click and drag what I didn't in the NEW MENU BAR. However, it turns out when I did that the same selections were removed from the default Menu Bar.

I was ablel to restore the default Menu Bar. But I want to have a customized Menu Bar and be able to select that new Menu Bar and associate it with every Report that is in my Database.

Any ideas? If you have some good instructional references, please point me in that direction. Thanks.

Database Window Not Closing With Startup Menu!!!

May 10, 2006

MS Access 2000

Hello everybody,

I am having a strange problem and despite trying out all the suggestions already discussed in this forum, the problem still persists.

My DB is already complete and I have done the following
1) Startup menu/uncheck all the option boxes
2) Tools menu/options/unchecked "windows in taskbar"
3) converted the DB into mde. file
4) Disabled the shift key
However, despite doing all the above, the "Database windows" shows up behind all the forms.

As per suggestions given by many here, I have also used

DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdWindowHide

This also does not work.

Also tried running the following in a macro from this link
http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0019.htm

All the above have not worked and if anyone has any ideas or another way of doing this, I would really appreciate it.

Access 2007 Backup Menu Won't Back Up My Database

Jan 23, 2008

I'm using Access 2007, with what I think is a normal database that I've built up over the past month (maybe 15 tables, <1000 records, 20 queries, 4 or 5 reports and macros). I'm not an experienced Access programmer, so I don't think I'm doing anything fancy with security settings or any other such stuff. (If I have, it's surely by accident, not by intent.)

When I try to back up the db using the simple office button -> manage -> backup method, access generates a date-stamped backup filename and opens a file save dialog for me, but it ALWAYS fails to backup the database. I always get the same error message when I click save, whether I save on my machine, or on a network drive.

"Could not use '<path to the current database dir><backname>.accdb; file already in use."

This same error occurs when I create a new blank database with a single Table1 in it, so I don't think it's my database.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I scoured the net for help, but nothing. I checked various Access forums, but nothing. So I arrive here after I've done my homework... thanks

Unable To Create A Main Menu Page For Database

Jun 2, 2015

I want to create a main menu page for my database. I have tried the Navigation form and obviously I am doing something wrong....because the tabs won't open the forms. We have Access 2010 at work and I would like to create something similar to this:

Cardinal Rap - Main Menu

[button] Input Monthly data
This button would take me to another screen that would list the tables for appropriation, expenditures and revenue, each with their own respective button

[button] Reports
This button would take me to another screen that would would list the reports available each with their own respective button

[button] Monthly reconciliations

This button would take me to another screen that would list the tables necessary for my monthly reconciliations each with their own respective button that open that table.

The tabs in the Navigation form don't seem to do anything.

Customized Msg Box For User Security

Dec 20, 2006

Hello everyone.

Not sure if this is possible...but I hope it is!

I have created user security with limited access for specific groups to certain forms in my database.

However, when a user attempts to open one of the restricted forms a Generic Microsoft Access Message Box opens. Am I able to customise this box so that the box Heading is not "Microsoft Access" and so that the user is not offered the option of "Help"?

Really all I want is a box that says;

"You do not have the permission to open this form."

I only want an "Ok" box as an option (not the "Help" box as well)

Any help would be extremely grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Autonumber With Customized Prefix

Dec 28, 2004

Ok...I've looked at old threads and now I'm more confused than before.
I'm trying to find a way to make my field "PCRTrackingNumber", work like this: 05-0001...05-0002...05-0003...and so on. The 05 represents the year. I currently have the field setup as autonumber, set to Long Integer and increment. Even if it looked like 05-1...05-2...05-3...etc. that would be fine. Basically just looking for a way to add "05-" to the prefix.
I was trying to think of a way to combine a field to the autonumber field and use that instead...but need some help.
Thanks, Jeff

Customized Primary Key With Auto Number

Oct 6, 2004

Hello,
I am a beginner and know a little about access. I am trying to create a customized Primary Key with an auto number. I want it to look like this: VP001 ,next record, VP002 and so forth. When I enter a new record and want it to do this automatically. It could be VP1, then VP2, I don't need the extra zeros but it would be nice. I don't know how to do this. If someone could please help walk me through this. Remember I am a beginner with databases and need help.

I would appreciate it

Forms :: Dealing With Customized Subforms

Jun 25, 2013

I have a form that I designed that contains two subforms. The first subform is an entry subform so you can post the current client visits. The second subform I want to just display all prior client visits and make updates or deletions if needed.

It does not appear that I can make the first subform entry= yes additions allowed=YES in the properties. The second subform I want entry=No and addition=no..When I pull up the properties sheet for each of the subforms these options do not appear. They appear only on the main FORM, FORM property sheet. I thought I could create two new forms with the properties I desire and then copy them into the main form.

Sending Customized Emails On Update

Jan 19, 2012

I have designed an Access database with a certain table called EmailAlerts.

This table has two fields: EmailMessage and Recipients.

The EmailMessage field stores the body of the mail to be sent to the corresponding email addresses in Recipients. E.g.:

EmailMessage | Recepients
Hello | abc@xyz.com
Goodbye | pqr@xyz.com

Now what I want to do is, whenever a record is added to this table, I want to send the email to the corresponding recipient. How can I do this?

Drop Down Menu Inside Drop Down Menu

May 15, 2006

Ok, This is something I have long wanted to do, but cannot figure out.

I am working on a database for a company that orders a large number of Items. I have these all in one table (itemCode, itemDescription, price, categoryCode, etc). I have another table with categorys (categoryCode, categoryDescription) . Each Item is asigned a categoryCode and the appropiate relationship exsists. Right now I have a comboBox in a form that when selected opens a drops down menu with all the Items. Then another one auto loads up (continuous form) and I get the same drop down list of all the Items.

What I would like to have is a combo box then when it is selected shows the categorys, then based on that selection, I see all the Items that are in that category.

I guess another way of saying this simply is, I would like to create a drop down menu inside of a dropdown menu.

Is this possible? Does anyone have another alternative suggestion that might work well? I'm relectant to use a list box, becoase ideally it would be a drop down menu inside of a drop down menu as seen on many websites.

Thanks in Advance!

:)

Menu Bar

Apr 29, 2006

I have a question of creating a few menu bars.

I made 3 menu bars.

When the user log in the database, the database program will detect the user name, and then output his own menu bar.

It works fine.
However, I got a problem, when I created the first menu bar, the menu bar have control box for the forms, the other 2 menu bars do not have it.

How can I make 3 menu bars with control box, minimizs, maximinize, close form boxes?
