A Form With Checkboxes That Alters A Query

Forgive me for not knowing exactly how to phrase my question. I've done tons of searches and am SO grateful to these boards for the last year of informative help!
?:
I want to have a form that lists every record in a table or query, and along side each, I would like a checkbox, indicating whether or not I'd like that record to be in my 'query' or not. Please help?
I.e. I have a table with a names and data. I want to see a form with the names, and a checkbox by each, so that a query can be run, and the only records displayed are those with '1'/'True'/'Yes'/'Checked'.

Hi! I am wondering if there is a way to do a query by form, where instead of typing in the values you are searching for, you select checkboxes, based on fields in the query you are searching.
For example, I have employees with a list of current competencies. I want to search for employees with specific competencies by checking checkboxes (or selecting from combo boxes) and have the form/query show me which employees possess these competencies/skills.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I am working on a database that tracks products. The products are divided into groups (Bath Salt, Stick Incense, Candle, etc.) and these are store in a table. The products themselves are stored in another table.
When a new scent is created, it can belong to multiple groups ... for instance, Strwberry Vanilla could be a perfume, a bath salt, a candle, stick incense.
When the form is opened, I want to read the contents of the groups table and create a check box for each entry.
I do not really want to use a list/combo box for this task ... would prefer to be able to check in a list of boxes to specify what groups to create entries for when a new product is entered.

When opening Access, the default printer changes from "Letter" to "User-Defined". The output is then unreadable. I then change it back to "Letter" and all is fine until I reopen Access with the same result.
I'm using Access 2003 with a Brothers HL1440
How can I make Access leave the printer's default setting as it is?

Sorry, but this is killing me. I can't find anything in the archive which directly relates.
And it's complicated. I'll try to simplify.
In a nutshell:
As I scroll each Employee on a Parent form, I'd like a subform with functionality to check off any Certifications earned by this person and write the EmployeeID and CertificationID to a junction table.
Seems to me it should be simple, but...
Anyway, here is the probably overcomplicated version here:
The one side tables are 1. Employees and 2. Certifications
The junction table records which certifications employees possess. This table contains some Boolean fields.
The Parent form knows the EmployeeID.
My goal is to create a subform on which to display the full list of Certifications, something similar to the attached image, with a button to add an EmployeeID to the junction table AND tick off the Boolean checkboxes.
I've based the subform on a query showing ALL Certifications and all (Junction) records where there is a match
Because the junction table only stores related Employees and Certifications as entered, the checkboxes on my subform cannot be bound directly to the fields in the junction table and, at the same time, allow me to check off the Booleans.
Perhaps a little db redesign? Any help greatly appreciated.

I have a database which lists tests done on certain products. Each product requires different tests, so it is not feasible to make a static report for each product.

Hi Folks.
I have a select query that has 10 columns which are checkboxes (yes/no) from the original table. I can apply filters for individual columns but I want the query to show records with ANY of the boxes checked and only omit those with NO boxes checked.
I have spent the whole atfernoon researching the forum but I can't find what I need. Help much apreciated.

After putting in fields there were checkboxes into a Union Query, they now show up as -1s and 0s. Is a -1 a blank, and a 0 checked?

I have a form. In that form I want to display a series of dates from a database table..ex. 12/15/2004, 12/16/2005, etc... Next to those dates I want to have a checkbox. The user should be able to click on that checkbox if they want to sign up for that date. So there could be more then 1 checkbox checked, but there will always be atleast 1. So my first question is, how do I make this work. I've tried several things and everytime I check on the checkbox it checks all of the checkboxes.
PLEASE HELP!
Subject 2: Regarding the above question, how do i reference those dates that I've checked the checkbox next to, to put into another table?

Hi all,
Firstly, I'm an ex-fulltime access developer who has found himself doing access work again 6 years later; I can't actually believe how much I've forgotten :s
Anyway, I've done a search and havn't found anything that can help me so wondered if anyone could give some advice.
I have an access form with 3 combo boxes and a checkbox next to each of them. these are accessed using a query with 3 iif statements in it stating; (iif checkbox is null, "*", combo_box_value). the whole query looks like this
SELECT Customers.*
FROM Customers
WHERE (((Customers.Partner)=IIf(Forms!frm_rpt_main!check _partner Is Null,"*",Forms!frm_rpt_main!partner)) AND ((Customers.[Type Business])=IIf(Forms!frm_rpt_main!check_type Is Null,"*",Forms!frm_rpt_main!type)) AND ((Customers.[Year End Month])=IIf(Forms!frm_rpt_main!check_month Is Null,"*",Forms!frm_rpt_main!month)));
However, the query only seems to want to pull data from all 3 combo boxes
My issue is that if a checkbox is not ticked, I want the values to be ignored for all 3 combo's.
I've attached a copy of the mdb file as my description probably doesnt make any sense, the specific query is "qry_select_month_partner_type_wname_frm_rpt"

I only want to view unchecked boxes in my query. What I can tell you is that I used most of what I could find on google like false/ 0/ Where [fieldname] = False/ and some others but I'm having no luck. This is a yes/no field with checkboxes.

So I have 2 checkboxs in a form. Future cost and LRM cost.
When future cost is checked, I want the criteria in my make table query to be 00, when LRM cost checked, I want the criteria to be 01.
But the problem is when they are both checked I can't get 00 or 01 at the same time.
I have tried different ways but none of them seem to work because with IFF, can only return one value.
I have tried to put the 2 iff in criteria and the or criteria below it exceeds the max time.
The criteria I have right now is:
IIf([Forms]![TPTC Analyzer]![P Future cost]=True And [forms]![TPTC Analyzer]![P LRM cost]=False,"00",

From a dropdown field in the form it's currently possible to choose a geographical region for which to generate a report. The data populating this dropdown is pulled in from a Value List as follows:
" ";"*";1;2;3;4;5;6;7;8;9;10;11;12;13;EU;WD
I now need the ability to choose various different regions simultaneously which is not possible with the current method. I've looked into a nested continuous form and a multi-select combo box or list box, but none of these are as user friendly as my preferred method.
What I would like is 15 checkboxes plus a 16th to select/unselect all. When any of these checkboxes is checked, I need to create something like a dynamic value string or temporary table to hold the list of chosen regions until the generate button is clicked at which point the data is used to generate the report and cleared. I also need a piece of code to check/uncheck all the boxes.

I have an unbound form (named frmReportSearch) with unbound text & combo boxes providing the criteria for a query (named qSeqStreets). The form / query utilize 4 optional fields as search criteria plus date from / to. The results are returned via a report (named rptSeqStreets). The whole operation worked perfectly, however I realized I needed to change one of the criterion to a multivalued field. The change in the table (named Tasks) worked perfectly. I used three checkboxes (named chkA, chkB and chkC) to allow the user to select any combination of the 3 choices, including none (to be treated as no filter on [fldShifts]).
The three options in the field (named fldShifts) are "A" "B" and "C". I am able to manually run the query from design view by typing in the criteria "A" Or "B"... "A" Or "B" Or "C"... and any combination of the three options in the criteria box and running the query. I am using the following code under the OK button's OnClick. The Code below has other items related to all the options .... I didn't want to give partial code so you may understand better:

My problem is that the query criteria needs to be entered into the criteria box with quotes and separated by "Or" depending on if multiple checkboxes are selected.
I can get the results to show correctly in the textbox, however I imagine the query is adding an extra set of ""s to the string so rather than "A" Or "B" .. it is getting ""A" Or "B"". My query Sql and even design mode are pretty complex, so I wouldn't know how to use the sql in VBA without blowing some fuses.

Any idea how I can display this information a lot neater?
Its a bunch of check boxes (I wasn't sure how to go about doing this without them, as they can choose multiple things, if it was just 1, I would have used a dropdown).
I've been trying to fiddle with this for a while now with no good ideas coming to mind.
Anyone have any ideas or examples of how I could go about this?

I am trying to use check boxes as a yes/no answer about whether members have completed training modules, and bind them to a table.
I get this error when tick the boxes, and try to close the form; "The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. (Error 3022)"
When I reopen the form the check boxes are greyed out until i tick them (not getting values from table) :confused:
Any help appreciated :confused: :)

I have a form that uses checkboxes to list all the fields in a table. How would I create a query based on that form?
For example -
Field Names - RMA_Num, Qty, Date_Rec, Part_Num, Desc, CC_Primary, CC_Secondary, CC_Tertiary, OF_Appearance
A user may choose to see Qty, Part_num, CC_Primary, CC_Secondary, and CC_Tertiary. How would I set up the query?
For testing I tried having RMA_Num, Qty, and Date_Rec in a query. I set the criteria for RMA_Num as IIf([Forms]![frm_meta]![Check0]=True,[tbl_Mfg_RMAData]![RMA_Num])
With the box checked the query will return results for all the fields. But if the box is unchecked the query returns nothing.

I have 4 check boxes represent 4 grade levels. When I click on a grade I have a query run for me a list of all 9th graders or 10th graders or both together.
When I run the form for the first time, all four boxes are check, when I unclick all of them and I click which ones I want the form does not work. But if I leave them click the report will work. Basically what is happening is when I unclick them, the lose their value.
I have the check box set up with a Default Value as "09" or "10" base on what Grade Level there is.
So my two questions are, how do I keep the value of the check boxes after I unclick and click again and Secondly, is there a way to have the boxes unchecked when I run the program?

Let me just start off by saying, I don't have any code to post as it is just an idea I have.
This is a Lease return project for work. We have an excel sheet that is broken up into tabs. Master List, Not Returned and then a tab for every month.
Here is what I would like to do.
If someone checks the box that says the leased computer was not returned, can I grab a certain batch of fields to automatically populate another Tab in this Access 2003 Form?
The second part to this would be if a person unchecks "Not Returned" in the Not Returned Tab, can I get that record automatically removed from that list view?
Similar principle for the Monthly shipping by a certain date. If the user enters in a shipped Date by say March 1, is there any way to populate a another tab into a list view?
Thanks for any advice that you gentlemen and ladies can provide.

i have checkboxes on a form and want to run a query based on the amount of times the checkbox(es) have been selected...
i have done this and attached a report however because the value of the checkboxes is -1 obviuosly the sum of this is a negative number and so on the report the total selcted is negative....
is there a way to change these to positive numbers...
and if so where do you put it.

I was instructed to...........create a text box on a form, set the format property to 'Percent' and the 'Control source' can look like this:
=iif([ItemA]=True,0.33,0)+iif([ItemB]=True,0.33,0)+iif([ItemC]=True,0.33,0)
This will add these three items up and give you the percentage. You can also do the same in a query to based your reports on these percentages.
Yet, It isn't working properly. Any ideas?

I am new to Access coding. I'm trying to do the following in Access 2000.
I have a form which includes some tabs. On one tab I would like to display a list of items from an Access lookup table with a checkbox next to each item. The list needs to be drawn dynamically from the table since the table contents can change. I tried using the subform/subreport control with a querry as the source object but the display is not very nice. Basicly I want the tab to look like the picture enclosed but dynamically drawn from the values in the lookup table.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
