General :: Access 2003 Saved As 2000 Format On Windows 7

Aug 22, 2013

I have written a database in Access 2003, saved as an Access 2000 format. This runs fine on Windows XP workstations. When I install the same system on a Windows 7 system, my login screen launches, the user is able to enter in their name and password. Then nothing happens. What is supposed to happen is a form opens up after the password is entered that applies security written in code based on the user.

Dymo Labeller Link To Access 2003 MDB

Jun 21, 2006

I am using a networked database built by somebody else. I have added a networked DYMO labeller which runs via a simple report in Access 2003.

The probelm I am having is that the default label type I specified in the report (30321) keeps changing, it will change intermitantly and to any available Dymo label listed in the paper size. Nobody else has access to the reports to change it.

One day I come in and the label has changed to a Video Top (30326) label the next day it is a File Folder (30330) label.....the Dymo is having no probelm in any other applications and it doesnt seem to be a probelm in any of the databases I have built which are also networked.

Any ideas would be appreciated....getting sick of wasting labels and resetting the default all the time.

How To Link Images With Photo Editor In Access 2003?

Mar 22, 2007

I am setting up a database with an image linked to each record. I have installed Photo Editor as required to display jpeg files. However, when I try to insert object in the table field, Photo Editor does not appear as an option under 'Object Type'. How can I use Photo Editor as my OLE server to display jpegs? Or, can someone suggest a better way to display images on forms? I'm a newbie, so although I'll try more advanced programming if required, I will need quite detailed step-by-step instructions :)

Thanks!

Table Problems Moving From Access 2003 -> Access 2007

Jun 19, 2007

Attached is a screenshot of the relationships in a database I built a couple of years ago. It's worked absolutely fine in Access 2003 and currently has over 18,000 customers with associated information in it.

However, when I open the database in Access 2007 the performance is awful. All the forms are very slow to respond when tabbing between form elements. I've experimented by reducing the number of form elements calling on related data on a given page and whilst this improves performance it reduces usability - something I don't want to compromise on especially since Access 2007 should be able to cope with this.

My next question is therefore whether I've got the most efficient underlying table design and I can't see any other way of doing it than my current method so I'd be grateful for any feedback or advice anyone has.

Link One Table From MS Access To Outlook

Dec 11, 2005

Hi,

I have a question.

Can MS Access table link to Outlook?

Suppose there are Tom and Sue persons:

Sue manage the acc.mdb database file, The database has one table which is called "input", Sue made the form, the form is come from "input" table info. and also Sue made one button to send the specific record to the Tom via outlook, once Sue send out, the mail has created a link, which link can open the document (NOT attached file). Once Tom receive the mail from Sue, Tom will click the link to open the document, and also fill out one signature inside the document, after filled it out, then the signature will automatically populate in the specific field of the "input" table in the acc.mdb database file.

Can MS Access and Outlook do above situation?

Please let me know, thanks a lot.

Run A Macro To Sort A Table In Access 2003

Nov 7, 2006

Ok,

I have a table that has new data added into it through forms, and i want the data to be sorted when a new record is added.

The person that the database is for is new to Access and therefore is not 100% competant at it.

I wanted to add a button onto the forms that would run a macro that would sort the data. Is there a macro in Access that can do this?

Cheers,

Slifer

SQL Linked Table Problem- Access 2003

Jan 12, 2006

Hi all,

I set up three tables (pastoral, referral, confidential) all at the exact same time on our sql server, all have the exact same permissions and i am the owner of all three. Ecah have a primary key in the form of an autonumber.

When i link to these tables in access i can delete from both the pastoral and confidential tables but cant delete from the referral table (the smallest of the three with only 6 fields) and i get this message:

"The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time"

Ive tried:

Compacting and repairing
Recreating the table on the sql server
decompiling and recompiling with a compact and repair
redoing the table links
trying the table in a different database

and none of these things have solved my issue.

Its bizarre:

on the sql server i can add, edit, delete
in access i can add but cant edit or delete as i get a write conflict error message:

"This record has been changed by another user since you started editing it. If you save the record, you will overwrite the changes the other user made...."

Yet the overwrite option is greyed out and i only have the choice of copying to clipboard or dropping changes.

HELP!!!

im at a total loss as to what is going on, ive tried all the fixes i know and have come back to trying to fix the problem instead of starting it again due to the fact that recreating the table gives me the same problems.

Any ideas? all service packs are up to date and so is the jet engine...

cheers

greg

Importing Excel Table To Access 2003

Jan 22, 2007

Hi!

I was importing the large array of accounting data into Access from Excel through File - Get External Data - Import. Several columns contained tangible accounting data (e.g. registration numbers) that had different formats like "23423 34", "32-3545" and in some cases even contained letter constants. Therefore, I have assigned TEXT type to this column while importing and was sure that all values are going to be stored as text. However, what has happened is: 18307769 turned into 1.83078e+007! this means tangible accounting data that was used as a key field for further linking turned into bull&&$%! :-(

I know this problem is very simple, so please, can you give me a hint as to how do I solve it in the future.

Thank you in advance.

MS Word Link MS Access Table Data - Avoiding Duplicates

Dec 7, 2007

Hi All,

I have an MS Access table that currently links into word as a mail merge. Great!

Sample data as follows:

Tutor Student
Mr A Donald Duck
Mr A Mickey Mouse
Mr A Minnie Mouse
Mrs B Joe Bloggs

I want to produce a mail document that allows me to address each tutor separately, along with the respective student names in a grid.

Now I've setup the document, but when I view each document it produces the list of all students for each tutor.

e.g.

Dear Mr A

Your students are:

Donald Duck
Mickey Mouse
Minnie Mouse

-------------------

Dear Mrs B

Your Students are:

Joe Bloggs

Is this at all possible?

Thanks:)

General :: Access 2003 Create Multi Column Filtered Table

Jan 4, 2013

create a datasheet from 2 odbc linked tables which I will be exporting to Excel. The resulting datasheet will have four columns, 'Purchase Order Number' 'Stock Code' 'Delivery Date' 'Unit Price'. The information I require in the datasheet is a unique stock code (one occurrence of each stock code) with the most recent unit price based on the last delivery date for each product. The linked tables contain many Purchase Orders for the same stock codes over a time period of a number of years where the unit price has varied.

You Do Not Have Exclusive Access, Changes Will Not Be Saved.

Aug 29, 2006

I have just had a very frustrating morning. Recently upgraded to MS Access 2003. started having a strange problem, MS Access kept notifying me a another user was using the access database I was in. I switched off and rebooted, still the same..... ?

Read a bit on the Internet, checked my settings, made sure I was exclusive user, made sure user was set to owner, Rebooted, still the same.

I noticed that occasionally the *.ldb file would suddenly appear when I've tried to move or copy a database in explorer from one folder to another? Something was shadowing me, something was recording when I was using an MS Access database.

I checked to see if I had inadvertently added any strange Add-in's, none Listed. I checked visual source safe, I haven't set that up yet it's not doing anything.

Then I remembered! I had installed MS Access crawler which works with Google desktop to record where your MS Access files are. I uninstalled access crawler and I have not had any problems since.

Report Formats NOT Saved In Access 2000

Sep 8, 2005

I am having problem to keep the desired format for reports' margin (left, right, top, bottom) and paper size (letter, legal), and orientation (portrait, landscape) stay!!

Currently, I have one MS Access 2000 database application resides on Novel Netware server version 6.0, [B]although I open the Access database exclusively to change all my reports design to the way I like, and SAVED them properly; however, later when I and other users view those reports, the formats change back to default view, which are "letter size, portrait and all margin set to 1")??

It is very STRANGE and FRUSTRATING and incovenient since all users have to manually go to "Page Setup" of the report's design everytime to change margins to make the data display nicely on one page!! It has never happened like this in version '97!

Plllease let me know if ANYBODY has any SOLUTIONS to this bug of version 2000 of Access?? Or any UPDATE file released to help get rid of it??

Thanks so much,
