Access 2003 Runtime - Supress Security Messages?

Apr 28, 2007

Hi,

I am releasing a Runtime Access 2003 application.

Am using the standard files ACCESSRT.MSI and ACCESSRT.CAB to install Runtime.

Does anybody know a QUICK way of supressing the annoying security messages which pop up, when the application starts under this configuration?

I don't want to write any fancy install wizards or scripts, just need a basic runtime install like the above method, but with "Low" Macro security set.

Thanks in anticipation.

Access Runtime 2003

Jul 17, 2007

We are considering rolling out a number of access reports to users within our organisation who currently do not have access installed, nor do we want them to. Run time seems the obvious route.
I see the runtime module is included in Access 2003 but I cant see if you have to install Access on the users PC in a "Runtime mode only" way or if the Developer tools have to be purchased to get the package wizard so you can send the package out with run time.
Basically we want users to be able to access the database from the server but we do not want them to have the ability to do any thing else in access . i know read only rights will enable that to be done in the particular database but we don't want them building their own db's and the bothering IT when they come across something difficult....

Thanks

Access 2003 Runtime Version And Shortcut Menus

Mar 14, 2006

I have developed an application and packed it into a runtime version.
However, in the runtime version the shortcut menus do not work. The reason why I want the user to have that possibility is that the application has two hyperlink fields and it is much easier for the users to be able to browse to the documents instead of typing each link with all the errors that might give as well.
Any help would be appreciated.

ACCESS 2003 Security Warning

Dec 11, 2005

I have read through the various posting regarding ACCESS 2003 security warnings. As like everyone else, I receive a security warning stating, “This file may not be safe if it contains code that was intended to harm your computer.” I have already installed Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 and I have already enabled sandbox mode. This warning still appears when I try to open databases sent to me by other people. It also appears when I try to create a new database from my own computer. I understand why this message may appear when I open other peoples’ databases, but why would this error message appear on my own computer after I create a database from the very same computer? I would like to market my databases to specific clients, but I need to eliminate the security warnings that would appear each time they opened my databases from their computers. I don’t want to suggest that people change their security levels to low in order to open my database. For this reason, I am considering the option of digitally signing my databases with an authenticated signature. As something like this would run anywhere up to about $400.00, I want to make sure that it would be the best, and correct, option for me. My ultimate question: If I am already trying to create databases from my own computer and receive this warning message, would a digital certificate work in eliminating the error message for my future clients? Also, I understand that I may use the signatures for up to a year. Would I be able to use this for multiple databases that I create as long as it’s within that one year, or would I only be able to sign one specific database and use that same database for the entire year? This is a bit of a pricey endeavor for me, so if there are any other options, I’d love to hear those, too. Thank for the help in advance!

Access 2003 Security Permission Problem

Oct 19, 2006

Hi,
I have a database, which contains linked tables to another database. The information held in the tables are mostly open for every permitted user but some of the table informations are restricted to a few user only. To manage all of this different permissions I created a workgroup, changed all the necessary things to become an administrator and run the security wizard to secure my database. Finally I want to give every single group the access it belongs to. And there is my problem.
I have a form which has a VBA code underlying which selects data from a table and two queries and where the user can set individual criterias. For me as an admin user this form works perfect. When I log on as a user I can't find out how to set the permissions not to receive the error message: "You do not have the necessary permission to use the 'MSys Table' object...." The user should not be an admin user and I already set the modify, update, delete, read, read design permission to the group. Nothing helps.
Please if anybody has an idea what I can try I really would appreaciate this help!
Thanks very much :)

Access 2003 Workgroup Security On A Network

Oct 5, 2007

Ok.. I have done this before at another job, but this network (or stupid me) is giving me trouble. I'm trying to setup a database security (login/password) for a database on a network. I setup the security levels..setup a seperate workgroup... From my computer it logins fine with the correct workgroup.

I setup a link:

"G:Maximizer DatabaseMaximizer.mdb" /wrkgrp "G:Maximizer Databasemaxsecurity.mdw"

Under my network login it pops up with the correct login/password prompt.

On others, it goes into the database under "READ ONLY" but gives them access to the database in read only. It should using that workgroup.

Any suggestions?

2003 Runtime Multi-sessions?!

Jul 18, 2007

Hi All,
We're currently rolling out 2003 Runtime and I've had a few users requesting multiple open seesions of the same database. I thought sure no problem, and then found that it doesn't look like it's possible with Runtime.
Can anyone confirm whether there is a way around this?

It's just that they all had full version of 97 before and now were limiting them all to Runtime! :D

Any suggestions as always much appreciated.

Advice For Security & Question On Built In Access Security

Mar 26, 2007

I've read and gone though quite a few of the scrips and examples for creating logins and security and i'm getting to the stage when i need to have good understanding of the different methods.

Some of the examples whilst create a user login do not really allow for security within the database whilst the build in security wizard would appear to offer that functionality.

I am thinking that I will use the Workgroup file and that method. My question is am i able to utilise the fact that if a person 'AdamA' logs onto the database which is built into the workgroup security file. am I then able to take 'AdamA' to populate a table which records actions by a user? (I can't seem to find any thread or book reference to doing this)

Default Access Messages On Query Run

Nov 18, 2007

Hi there,

I have an access database in which I am updating a table from a form using visual basic for access. I have got the update to work, however before the application appends the table, it asks a question "You are about to append a row" then an option for "yes or no"

I have a custom message that appears after the appending, but I do not want the message in bold above to appear at all. Does anyone know how I can suppress that message?

Thanks

Access 2000 Error Messages. Please Help!

Jan 20, 2005

Hello,

I have encountered several problems with my Access 2000 application on the server at work within one day, and I am very frustrated. Your help is greatly appreciated! Please....

1/ Sometimes, ALL the tables and queries disappear from the database. I checked everything, nobody hide the objects. Do you know why? I even import new tables to see if those appear, they still do NOT show?? I even created blank database, try to import those tables "hidden", it promped need to be repaired it, then I looked back the original database, the tables re-appear; however, later on, it does have error, prompted "NOT a valid bookmark"?? When I add new records thru the form, it has the word "#error" on every fields....

2/ Some users can open, some can NOT open the same database on the same server. For those users can not open, the errors varies. For examples: it prompts that the "database needs to be repaired," after clicking "Yes", it prompts, it "could not open the database" OR "The database has been placed in a state by an unknown user that prevents it from being opened or locked" eventhough nobody open exclusively!! OR "The table 'MSysAccessObjects' is already opened exclusively by another user, or it is already open through the user interface and cannot be manipulated programmatically."

Have you seen any errors stated in 2/ in RED above. What should I do??

Please help. Thanks so much,
T

How To Suppress The Confirmation Messages In Access?

Mar 7, 2007

When i try to insert data into a backend Oracle table (with ODBC) using a form, (i use docmd.runsql "insert....") Access gives me a message like"You are trying to append 1 row to the table are you sure you want to append?"

i want to suppress this message as i have to insert into 2 tables and delete from 3 tables when the user enters some data in the form, so it asks the user five times (say 2 times for insert and 3 times for delete..) when it inserts or deletes each table. the user doesnt want this to click every time when they do that...
how do i suppress these messages, is it Access-specific or oracle specific?
I am not able to do this..!
is this any kind of exception that i have to put in??

Thanks for all ur help!!

Modules & VBA :: Access Read Email Messages And Populate Table

Feb 11, 2014

Currently have an Access db filled with different departmental information. Trying to build a workflow mechanism that will validate the status of a certain "Event".

70-80 different projects in one table. This table has Due Date for the project in itlAll of the days between milestones are static. There are 18 different Milestones covered by 6 departments.Table built to hold status of project. which includes notes for every milestone and date completed. 37 fields (date and memo field each with id number to relate back to project table

A generated email that emails the parties who are late or their milestone is upcoming. (can do this already, but see the other requirement)When users receive email they need to reply in the email that was sent to them the date and what the result of what they did in the email. Users will be using mobile devices, laptops and desktops to respond.Could use Collect Data feature, but it is not easily manipulated with vb. Also, it will not all information to be edited in a query.

Supress Output Of A Column

Feb 27, 2006

Hi All,

I have a table called tblcheck which holds the following values:

IT, Yes/No
0001, Yes
0002, No
0003, Yes

I need to set up a query which outputs certain values depending on which of the IT values have been set to Yes. I need to take into account that a user might have all of the values set to Yes. So if I am outputting certain values in the query, I need to have them all set up in case they are used, but would like to suppress the output of any field which is related to a No value.

In the above example I would expect that nothing from 0002 would be output because it is set to No. How can I supress this output based on the Yes/No value. Would I have to do it using VB code?

Thanks,

Evan

How To Supress Update Query Notifications

Feb 1, 2007

Hi:

I have a number of queries that run prior to exporting my DB into and XML file. I run the query in a section of VB code as follows:

Dim stDocName As String
stDocName = "flow_e_e_tbl_connection_name_id_update"
DoCmd.OpenQuery stDocName, acNormal, acEdit

The query executes as expected, and gives the usual warnings: You are about to run an update query that will modify your table...proceed Y/N/H....
and the status window:
You are about to update N row(s)...Update? Y/N

Is there a way to run the query in silent mode? e.g. without the popups? If not, is there another way to runthe query in a silent way?
Thanks
