Access 2007 Trusted Locations All Users TS

Jan 15, 2008

At work we have a terminal services setup for most of the staff which is being configured now. We have hit a snag with access security settings basically we need macros to run for relinking odbc databases and various vba functions (some run overnight so we don't want to deal with the security dialogs). We though the best way to do this would be setup trusted locations. We did this logged in to terminal server as admin hoping this would be a machine level setting but it seems to be on a per user basis.

Is there a way to set a trusted location for all users of a machine I have google and come up with nothing. The other option is enable all macros which I don't want to do.

General :: Configuring Trusted Locations Which Remain Valid On Different Machine

Aug 13, 2015

I have developed a database in Microsoft Access 2013. I wish to install and run that database on another machine on which I have already installed the MS Access Runtime.

In order to allow the database to run correctly on the target machine, I need to add two Trusted Locations - one for the front-end database and another for the back-end database.

The folder paths on the runtime machine are different to those on the development machine, so how do I add Trusted Locations (on my development machine) which remain valid when the database is copied to the target machine?

Must I trick it by simply creating an identical, dummy folder structure on the development machine (would this even work?), or is there a more elegant way?

Add A Trusted Location With Access 2007 Runtime

Oct 2, 2007

How in the world do I add a trusted location with only the Runtime version of Access 2007 installed on the PC?

I am in the process of distributing some new runtime-only applications; how do I stop the irritating "potential security risk" warning from coming up everytime the user logs in??? I can't figure out how to get to the "trust center" with only Access Runtime installed. Users don't have any other 2007 applications like Word or Excel either, and are running Windows XP, NOT Vista.

General :: One Database - Two Users In Different Locations

Feb 3, 2015

I'm an absolute novice at Access. I have a very simple (yet sufficient) database that lists our company's projects, tasks associated with those projects and when to invoice.

Our company consists of myself and my business partner. We both work from our (separate) homes. Our project files are stored in the cloud. This works well. We have investigated a server in the past, but found it to be cost-prohibitive and unnecessary for our business.

Is there a way that my business partner can have the Access database running at the same time as me, and make additions/modifications? I don't know how this would work in terms of updating/saving.

Concurrent Users Access 2007

Dec 13, 2007

I am trying to get a feel for how Access 2007 performs regarding the ammount of concurrent users using a database.

I know there has been a lot of differing opinions about previous version and was wonder is the new version of Access (& I would guess Jet as well) is more stable with multiple users?

General :: Access 2007 Pop-up Message To Logged-in Users

Nov 14, 2012

As an "admin" of our corporate local db, maintaining and/or upgrading is my task.

Usually there are logged-in users, then I have to ask them (mostly via communicator) to please log off, because I can not modify with users in the db.

I would like to send these users a message via Access, like "Please log off from the db for maintenance blabla".

Modules & VBA :: Automate Access 2007 Queries With Form For Users?

Oct 18, 2013

I've been using Access 2007 to run queries on a database where we eventually export results as separate Excel spreadsheets for individual clients. The process is quite involved, using queries to change fields from code letters to words and splitting the database up into different client tables, saving the tables under date order and with different client codes.

I now need to pass this role on to colleagues, so need to make everything as straightforward as possible.

I had thought to use a Form as the user interface, with a minimum number of buttons, however I need either the system or the user to amend the date for the initial table, then to use this new table and run a series of standard queries on it, then produce the separate tables.

I don't think I can just use macros behind the buttons, because the database name is changing each time.

I assume some parts will be too tricky to automate - it will be necessary for colleagues to follow instructions instead.....

Modules & VBA :: Record Locking Multi-users Over Network Split Database / Access 2007

Aug 5, 2015

I have designed a database which I intend to split for multi-users to access from one front end icon on a shared folder at work. I have designed a form bound to cmr record table and on it a subform to another table where cmrs activities will be saved. The form has buttons to and blank controls.

User can create a new activity entry by typing into the blank controls and pressing the save button which saves to the activity table. the edit button extracts a selected records details (selected on the subform) from the activity table and populates the blank field for a user to edit and then hit save to save changes. The delete button deletes a selected record from the activity table. I intend to have multi-users either accessing, viewing and a possibly editing the same customer at the same time. The simultaneous viewing is essential but the simultaneous editing, though not desired is inevitably going to occur.

What I would like to know is:

1. Can you lock an individual record in a table or does the whole table have to be locked. E.g If Colleague 1 is editing Cmr A's record in Table1 can he lock it so Colleague 2 can view and edit Cmr B's record in Table1

2.Can Colleague 1 access/read Cmr A's record in Table1 to retrieve details toe the form controls if Colleague 2 is viewing or editing Cmr A's record in Table1

3. If record lock is possible, how can I initiate it in my example code below.Edit activity record Code

Code:
Private Sub Edit_A_Click()
'Get Data to text box control
With Me.R_P_Data_P_Subfrm.Form
Me.txtrID = !rID
Me.txtrID.Tag = !rID
Me.txtrefNo = !refNo
Me.cmbrpc = !rPC

[code]....

Modules & VBA :: Access 2010 - File Search In Specified Locations

Feb 28, 2014

Previously in Excel / Access 97 / 2003 I made a little tool that would search for files in specified locations - I modified the code so that it would search for files based on what was entered in cells.

I believe a lot of the old code doesn't work in Access 2010 and it seems like a lot of the old file searching code I used to use no longer works.

Is there code available that searches a directory and lists results?

Access 2007 Crashes On Excel 2007 Import

Mar 21, 2008

On trying to import an Excel 2007 file into Access 2007 I get the following:

1) Choose "External Data," Import, Exce
2) Select small file in MS Excel 2007 format.
3) Click on Import the source data into a new table ...
4) Choose OK

Immediately get "Microsoft Office Access has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." This message never resolves, so I have to click 'Cancel'.

Then I get "Microsoft Office Access is trying to recover your information..." I have to click "Cancel" here as well and then kill MS Access in Task Manager.

Event Viewer gives following message, which is of no help:
"ID: 2, Application Name: Microsoft Office Access, Application Version: 12.0.6211.1000, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6215.1000. This session lasted 710 seconds with 120 seconds of active time. This session ended with a crash."

Trying to import a small Excel 2003 file leads the same result. The same happens with a CSV file.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007 as well. I am using Vista Ultimate.

I have turned off DEP.

How can I get MS Access 2007 to import Excel?

Thanks

Ken

Access 2007 Runtime Not Visible In Access 2007

Nov 26, 2007

I installed Office Enterprise 2007. Then I installed DEveloper Exrtensions, then Access Runtime 2007. All appear to have installed OK - they appear in Program and Features.
Instructions on runtime packaging tell me that a Developer option should appear in the resulting drop-down when I click the Office button (top-left round thing) when I have a d/b open in Access. It's not there! I have un-installed and re-installed the extensions and the runtime - still nothing!
Help!
I do have Runtime 2002 (XP) on the same PC, is that relevant?

Table Problems Moving From Access 2003 -> Access 2007

Jun 19, 2007

Attached is a screenshot of the relationships in a database I built a couple of years ago. It's worked absolutely fine in Access 2003 and currently has over 18,000 customers with associated information in it.

However, when I open the database in Access 2007 the performance is awful. All the forms are very slow to respond when tabbing between form elements. I've experimented by reducing the number of form elements calling on related data on a given page and whilst this improves performance it reduces usability - something I don't want to compromise on especially since Access 2007 should be able to cope with this.

My next question is therefore whether I've got the most efficient underlying table design and I can't see any other way of doing it than my current method so I'd be grateful for any feedback or advice anyone has.

Access 2003 To Access 2007 Split Database

Mar 8, 2007

Hi All,

Background Info: I developed our main department's Access 2003 split database which is on a server for 15+ Users. I've now been given Access 2007 for development -- Users still have 2003. There are also 2 other smaller databases that are not split (.mdb).

Problem: In the split database, I've saved the Application .mdb as 2003, relinked and made a new .mde. But the Users still cannot open the database. (I did this in a copy until I figure out the nuances with 2007.) The 2 other unsplit databases can be saved as 2003 version and Users can open OK.

I'm grateful for any suggestions on working with Access 2007. I've been trying to tackle the ribbon which is a whole other question.

Updating Programs In Separate Locations

Jan 10, 2006

Hi All,

I need some advice as to what is the best way for me to update a program in 3 different locations.

I have developed a program that I now have running in 3 separate locations. Each location uses the same program structure and tables, but they will have different data.

When I make a change to the one in our office, I would like to update the other 2 offices so that we all are using the latest version.
CURRENTLY: I make a database file with the “forms, Reports, Queries, and modules” necessary to accommodate the changes. Then I, email the file to the other offices. I then try to walk someone there at the office through; “Get Files: Import”, then delete the old files and rename the new ones. This is risky!!!!!:(

I know there is a better way of doing this, I just don’t know it.
Can some one help me on this issue?
Thanks for all your help….ENVIVA :)

General :: Track Locations On A Grid?

Feb 16, 2013

I am writing a database to track our (and others) wine collections. i'm wanting to track what bottle is where. so i can look up what i have, look up where i have put it and away i go to get it, simple right?

just to complicate things i want a system in place. where the end user and use forms to add/remove or modify wine racks.

assuming that all racks are rectangular i would like to be able to add a rack and call it rack 1. rack 1 has 4 shelves all able to hold 5 bottles. the database would then say that bottle X is in rack 1 shelf 1 position 1.

if possible there will aslo be a screen that is auto generated by the database showing a simple grid with grrn and red squares denoting if the position if full or empty. the ability to click on a position to see what is in there or to add a bottle there would be amasing but not fussed if that can't be done.

Combining Data From 3 Locations Into One Database

Aug 19, 2011

I've been given the task of combining data from three locations into one database in Access, something that is relatively new to me. I'm trying to decide whether to have the locations enter data into an Access database or into an Excel spreadsheet at each location. Regardless of the program used to enter data, I would probably like to link each of the files to my main Access file and combine the three into one database there. I do not want the locations to add data directly to the main database if possible.

My question is, would this be done by an append query? If so, how? Also, my thought is that the data at each location would be added to every day. I would need to be able to add the NEW data only to the database without duplicating the previous day's data.

Exporting Data To Particular Locations In A Text File?

Sep 30, 2007

Ok, I have a question. It might be a ridiculously simple question. Also, i'm under the impression that I may have to learn some VB, which i'm okay with. I've never really used MS Access, it has sat neglected on my desktop for a number of years and now I am starting to see just how powerful it is. By the way, I'm Jamie, nice to meet you all :) Now, onto the questionWhat i'd like to do is take the following database (for example)field1 = namefield2 = locationfield3 = favourite movieNow, i'd like to generate the following text from this database, for each entryDear <<name>>I once knew a man from <<location>>Was never really much of a <<favourite movie>> fan.Optionally, i'd like it to store the text for each seperately generated document in a file named <<name>>.txt, but that isn't needed urgently. It reminds me of a mail merge I learned to do a few years back in high school using appleworks (I am assuming it was appleworks).Anyway yes, thankyou in advance for any help with this.Jamie

Help In Creating Lookup Tables For Geographical Locations

Oct 30, 2004

Hi, I am fairly new to ACCESS. I understand the basics, thus i am a novice user.

I am trying to create a new database for managing booking and storing info on various artists.
In my main table where bands' info will be stored I am trying to make data input as efficient as possible and to ensure consistancy.

So, it leads me to ask this question... regarding inputing info of bands' location.
I want to use a lookup table to enter data for:
1 Country (Canada/US),
2 Province/State
3 Cities?

Questions:
1 Whats the best way to organize this?
2 Do i have to create seperate tables for each country and province? Or any kind of suggestion would greatly appreciated.

Furthermore, when entering data on the form, for instance if i select:
Canada --> then I'd want only Canadian Provinces to show in the following field ---> then i select Ontario --> then i'd like only ontario cities to show in the next field....
3 What would require for me to create this kind of thing... Not sure if there are 'if' functions in ACCESS.

Could someone please guide me towards the light?
thanks.
