I'm trying to migrate an Access 2000 project to Access 2007. I want that the frontend doesn't look like Access. This means: no ribbons, no office button, no Quick Access Toolbar, no database panel. In 2K, this was rather simple, but in 2007 I only managed so far to get rid of the ribbon (by replacing it with a blank ribbon) and the navigation pane, but I can't figure out what to do to hide the Office button and the QAT.
Can anyone help me with this ?

Hi I've just moved my PC over to Office 2007. I have previously created an application in A2003 that consists of three databases which I move between frequently using command buttons running the following code to close the current one and open the new one:-

In 2003 this worked fine but we always had to enable macros on opening the new one. This is now not required as the application is "Trusted" but in A2007 every time a database opens the "Getting Started with MS Access" window opens.
Is there some way I can switch this off as it is unnecessary and time consuming.
Sorry if this is a really dumb question - I have just started using Access and I couldn't find the answer to this doing a forum search.
I have made a database consisting of a table and a form. All I want to do is get the form to appear automatically when the database is opened. I am using Access 2007.
Hello Friends, I just want to know I created dynamic form using docmd.tansferdatabase acexport,"Microsoft Access ,database,acform,"formname",formname" ,can I develop or transfer STARTUP FORM property,in another form.
On trying to import an Excel 2007 file into Access 2007 I get the following:
1) Choose "External Data," Import, Exce 2) Select small file in MS Excel 2007 format. 3) Click on Import the source data into a new table ... 4) Choose OK
Immediately get "Microsoft Office Access has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." This message never resolves, so I have to click 'Cancel'.
Then I get "Microsoft Office Access is trying to recover your information..." I have to click "Cancel" here as well and then kill MS Access in Task Manager.
Event Viewer gives following message, which is of no help: "ID: 2, Application Name: Microsoft Office Access, Application Version: 12.0.6211.1000, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6215.1000. This session lasted 710 seconds with 120 seconds of active time. This session ended with a crash."
Trying to import a small Excel 2003 file leads the same result. The same happens with a CSV file.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007 as well. I am using Vista Ultimate.
I installed Office Enterprise 2007. Then I installed DEveloper Exrtensions, then Access Runtime 2007. All appear to have installed OK - they appear in Program and Features. Instructions on runtime packaging tell me that a Developer option should appear in the resulting drop-down when I click the Office button (top-left round thing) when I have a d/b open in Access. It's not there! I have un-installed and re-installed the extensions and the runtime - still nothing! Help! I do have Runtime 2002 (XP) on the same PC, is that relevant?
Hi, I would like to change the properties of either the column heads in a combo-box or the column names for tables. I don't think there's any way to adjust the column head properties, and I'm doubtful there's a way to change the column caption properties.
Some of my column titles are long, and I'd like to be able to word wrap them essentially. Anyone know if this is possible? Thanks.
I have a problem where i unchecked the "allow built in toolbars" , "allow toolbar menu changes","allow full menus" and " allow default shortcut menus" from the TOOLS Menu item (STARTUP) How do i get back all the menus to show when the application starts up?

I have a database that will be used by a few users who are not very comfortable with Microsoft Access. I have a login screen and a introduction/splash popup. I was wondering if it is possible to bypass the Microsoft Access pop-ups that ask the user if they want to "block unsafe code.." or The security popup that says "This file may not be safe" so that the users go right to the login screen I created within the database. I am worried that there will be variations in answering/clicking these Microsoft Access questions thus causing a variety of complaints when trying to access the database. Thank you
I thought I had this figured out, but apparently am still missing something...
When I start my DB, I get the default 'Security Warning' message every time asking if I want to cancel or continue... I thought this was an options setting under the Tools/Macro/Security setting. However, when I change this setting (default is Medium) to Low, exit Access and restart the DB I get the same warning message and the security setting is back to medium.
Am I in the right area to fix this? Why would my settings default back?
Hi everybody! Is it possible to set the properties for an access database not to confirm the changes when running an update query. I have done it under tools/properties etc. but then I make it in access in general. I want it to apply on one singel access database.
I know that I can startup MS-Access manually and bypass the startup options, including any macro that is set to run automatically, by holding the Shift key down when launching the application. I have:

which works nicely and opens the database just fine. However, this mdb has a startup macro defined in it. I can't hold down the Shift key since I'm doing this from a program. In this case, how can I bypass the startup macro?
I am experimenting with Access Project and recently set up the MSDE 2000 on my desktop. My question is how do I set up user level permission in it simular to the user level security in access. I read that the MSDE 2000 or SQL 2000 has betten security features than MS Access jet, yet I haven't found a way to look into the property of the MSDE. Do I need another application in order to view the operating property of the MSDE or its security feature?
Thought I best ask this question BEFORE I run into trouble.
If I were to set my database to hide the database window and all menus on startup so that users can only do what I want them to do and not edit anything. How do I go about reversing this if I needed to edit something as I would not be able to see any of the regular menus?
It would be good if the solution involved some sort of admin password rather than a sneaky short cut that a user may accidently stumble across.
:confused: I need to find a way using macros to accomplish this task: I am trying to set the LimitToList property as a YES, and enter data that is not in the list already, but instead of the NotInList property giving me the following error "The item you entered is not in the list. Please choose one from the contents of the drop down box", I want to branch to a macro entered at theNotInList property to branch to that will eliminate the error, and give me the opportunity to enter my own message with options for the user to enter the item into the list, or try to choose an item from the drop down box instead. I want to do this with a macro if possible. I have seen many VB solutions that purport to solve the issue, but to be honest, I am not very well versed in VB procedures. That's why I would like to do it with a macro. I am very competent with macro procedures! Please help ASAP. Thanks.
I have a Form with embedded Subform, everything works well as far as moving through records. Scrolling through records on main table via Form brings up correct records of child table on Subform, so the link between the 2 tables is done properly.
I use this logic to lock/unlock a field in the subform.

I confirmed with debug that the logic does set the properties properly. They are updated once and that's that. Any further passes through the logic do not update on the form. They do pass through correctly, changes are just ignored.
It doesn't matter if I use the logic from the Form and refer down, or in the Subform and refer up, the Subform never gets updated. I tried Repaint, Refresh, Requery, nothing works. I cannot count the permutations I've tried.
I have installed Microsoft Access 2003 and Microsoft Access 2003 Developer Extensions. I can create Access application by using the Package Wizard. But after I upgrade from Microsoft Access 2003 to Microsoft Access 2007. I can't use the Package Wizard.
Attached is a screenshot of the relationships in a database I built a couple of years ago. It's worked absolutely fine in Access 2003 and currently has over 18,000 customers with associated information in it.
However, when I open the database in Access 2007 the performance is awful. All the forms are very slow to respond when tabbing between form elements. I've experimented by reducing the number of form elements calling on related data on a given page and whilst this improves performance it reduces usability - something I don't want to compromise on especially since Access 2007 should be able to cope with this.
My next question is therefore whether I've got the most efficient underlying table design and I can't see any other way of doing it than my current method so I'd be grateful for any feedback or advice anyone has.
Background Info: I developed our main department's Access 2003 split database which is on a server for 15+ Users. I've now been given Access 2007 for development -- Users still have 2003. There are also 2 other smaller databases that are not split (.mdb).
Problem: In the split database, I've saved the Application .mdb as 2003, relinked and made a new .mde. But the Users still cannot open the database. (I did this in a copy until I figure out the nuances with 2007.) The 2 other unsplit databases can be saved as 2003 version and Users can open OK.
I'm grateful for any suggestions on working with Access 2007. I've been trying to tackle the ribbon which is a whole other question.
