Access 2010 - Auto Populate Correct Persons Email Address

May 1, 2014

I currently have a database set up with three basic forms:

Form 1 = Main menu with options to go to Form 2 and Form 3

Form 2 = Employee information form which includes email address

Form 3 = Employee document upload form

My goal is once the Employee is registered in Form 2 they can then upload a document in Form 3. When they upload this document and fill out other parameters Including their bosses name (which is captured as a record in Form 2) they click "Submit Form." I would like for this submit form button to populate an email that is updated to send to the selected "Bosses name"

Currently on the Submit form button I have:

Private Sub Submit_Record_Click()
DoCmd.SendObject _
, _
, _
, _
"email .com", _ <-- this is what I want to autopopulate with the correct persons email (as well as their name below)
, _
, _
"***A new Lab Report has been submitted for your review***", _
"Bosses name," & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Please log into the Report Database and review the latest pending report. If you have any questions please contact the sender." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "This is an automated response generated from Microsoft Access." & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & "Sincerely," & vbCrLf & "ESBU Lab Report Database", _
False
DoCmd.Close
End Sub

Shortcut To Auto Correct Options Access 2010

Oct 7, 2015

I have reinstalled Access 2010 due to a computer malfunction. I had customized my Dictionary with about 2000 abbreviations for medical specific words: gast for Gastroenterology for instance. Saves tons of typing. I have never been able to save my dictionary just in case something like this happens. And, It's happened before. I may have saved(unsure) once, but it was years ago on Access XP-2003, somewhere in that time frame and was never able to find it if I did. So I am reentering all these words again. It would sure be nice to be able to add them by Anything! but going File/Options/ Proofing/ Auto Correct Options and then entering my shortcuts. that's 4 steps each time. It would seem to me that if you can add the Auto-Correct icon in Word to the Word ribbon, Access should be able to do this. There is no icon i can find in Customize Ribbons/ All Commands. My Word Dictionary does not -never has- synced with Access' Dictionary.

General :: Access 2010 / Combo Box Not Displaying The Correct Item?

Apr 28, 2013

Using ms access 2010, I created a table called all items contains the ID, item name, item code, item price.

Second table I created called orders, contains item1,Q1=quantity,Tot1=calculated field.

Then a form to fill the orders table with a combo box for Q1 (gets the value from a table called numbers), second combo box for item1 (gets the value item code and item price from the table all items), and a text box to calculate the total of the Q1-item1(item price) All working perfect except the combo box for item1 ends up displaying a different item code that's only if the items were at the same price, for example, I choose latte from the combo box gives me correct item price but the code is cappuccino, only happening with items with the same price.

If I set the property of the combo box Bound Column to 1, I get correct item code but calculation error, Bound Column to 2, I get correct calculations but wrong item code. how to get the combo box to display the correct item code?

How To Tell Access To Pull Email Address From Outlook Instead Of Display Name

Oct 15, 2013

I'm working on a database which holds information about clients. This also has a linked table which pulls information from my outlook inbox. Basically what I want is a way to sort the emails into the appropriate contacts page. I have created a sub form which is linked to the contact form and pulls info from the email table. The sub form is linked by the 'from' field in the linked email table to the 'email address' field in the contact form.

This all seems to work exactly as I want when the email address is displayed as the display name of the client however most of the time, the display name in outlook is either the contacts name or their company name.

I suppose my question is this, how can I tell access to pull the email address from outlook instead of the display name? I may be missing something here but this seems like something that should be available as standard doesn't it?

How To Setup FROM Email Address When Opening Outlook Through Access Form

Dec 9, 2013

I am opening a new mail message in outlook using a button in a form.I want to change the "from" email address to a specific inbox (NOT personal email). Even though the email address is switched, after I hit sent and check my sent items - the email is actually sent from my personal email address and not from the inbox email address i wanted it to be sent from. I have access/permission to sent emails from the other inbox.

Is there a way to make sure emails are sent from specific email addresses and not ONLY personal inbox.What I read online is probably because of some "network" connection issues. Is there a way refresh connection between access and outlook? I am not even sure what the problem is.

Modules & VBA :: Export Email Contact Address To Outlook Using Access 2003

Me.Filter = strWhere
Me.FilterOn = True

Is there a way to have Access 2003 take this filtered list and populate the To: field in Outlook or whatever the default mail client is? Each email needs to be deliminated by ";"

Email Address, Web Address, Hyperlinks, Etc..

Aug 9, 2006

I have a form bound to a table which stores contact info for a person. I have two controls that are email_address and website_address. I set them both as hyperlinks.
So now when the user clicks on the email_address Outlook opens a new message with an email_address in the To field. (I had to use a function found on this forum to replace the "htttp" with "mailto" on AfterUpdate event in order for this to work properly.) However, now trying to add some other features to my DB I ran into problems listed below. I wonder if I should have rather left that control as Text instead of Hyperlink, and use the DoCmd.SendObject on doubleclick event instead of using the above solution.
How people usually store email addresses and enable emailing on click?

The problems I ran into:
1) My main form is in popup mode and therefore right click on the hyperlink does not give an option to edit the hyperlink
2) I copied a function from this forum which gathers a list of emails and sends one message to the emaillist. However, my email list instead of generating as:
email1@a.com; email2@b.com
it generates as:
email1@a.com#mailto:email1@a.com#; email2@b.com#email2@b.com#

I guess I could extract the email using vba (not sure how), but I still don't know how to solve issue number 1. So maybe it is better to siwtch the field to plain text and forget the hyperlinks?

Thanks,
Mariusz

PS. What procedure on double click would open a default browser, since I also have to deal with web addresses and thought of turning them into text controls?

General :: Access 2010 - Email Records In Body From Table

Oct 1, 2013

I've set up a piece of VBA code to loop through and email various recipients data, in the form of records within the email body. This works fine, but occasionally produces an error whereby the email output body lines are duplicated spuriously. This only seems to happen when running a large number of email loops.

The data source for the email body content is a table, which for each 'loop' is refreshed with new data by 1) deleting records from that table, and then 2) appending data to the table.

The portion of code for the loop & email:

Do
'Build outputbodytext
DoCmd.OpenQuery ("EmailQ2")
DoCmd.OpenQuery ("EmailQ1")
'set up email
Set rec2 = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("outputbodytext")
strSendTo = rec2("Email")

General :: Sending Form Through Email And Processing Responses - Access 2010

Oct 16, 2012

I'm working on a vacation/time off tracker and was hoping to use the collect data feature. I've created a form where a user submits their requested date and number of hours, at which point I'd like the form to be sent to their manager for approval. The manager's email address is stored in a table. Once the manager marks yes or no, I'd like that reflected in the time off requests table, and an email sent to the requester letting them know if it was approved or not. Is this possible? How would I go about it. I'm pretty new to Access, learning on the fly, but I'm pretty good at modifying code to match my situation/working backwards if you have any examples for me to look at.

General :: Using Access 2010 To Send Bulk Email Each With A Unique PDF Attachment?

Feb 12, 2013

I would like to automate the current process of sending an e-mail with a PDF attachment that is unique to each recipient; it is their test results. I'm sending an e-mail one at a time (which was fine when the number of folks being tested was small, but now I'm up to approximately 200 e-mails and growing each year)

System Environment:

Windows 7 SP1 (64 bit)
Office 2010 Professional

Access environment and Process:

1. A qry object/letter is built based on 4 tables (test results, result averages, a global employee list and location)

2. The Report has both static and dynamic text. Examples include: "Dear" [qry-Letter. F_name] and Address Information

a. =[qry-Letters.F_Name] & " " & [qry-Letters.L_Name]
b. =[qry-Letters.Position]
c. ="Dept " & Right([qry-Letters.Dept],3) & ", " & [qry-Letters.City]

3. The report also includes the employee's results, the session averages (testing is conducted at multiple locations each occurrence is a session) and companywide averages.

4. Report Process: Run the report, entering primary key Emp_ID, report is populated saved (overwritten with the next Emp_ID and printed as a saved PDF.

5. MS Outlook: create a new e-mail, text body is common to all e-mails e.g. "attached are your test results" the PDF is attached and the e-mail sent to the recipient (the e-mail address follows the corporate standard, =Trim([qry-Letters.F_Name] & "." & [qry-Letters.L_Name] & "@abc.com")

Modules & VBA :: Replace Function In Access 2007 For HTML Email In Outlook 2010

Aug 4, 2014

My company recently upgraded our MS Office from 2007 to 2010 (except for Access).

Previously, when I had Access 2007 and Outlook 2007, I had a process that generated 50+ dynamic emails from an Outlook template file (.oft).

The code would loop through a listbox and replace the template's default text to a string of text specific to the selection in the listbox by utilizing the Replace() function on the MailItem .HTMLBody.

Since the upgrade to Outlook 2010, the code is able to run, however, the Replace() function is no longer working; Instead, each email that is generated maintains the template's default text.

The only thing that is not working is the Replace() function, all other aspects of the code work fine.

I've provided a simplified version of the code below:

Dim myOlApp As Outlook.Application
Dim objMailMessage As MailItem
Dim stBody As String
Set myOlApp = Outlook.Application
Set objMailMessage = myOlApp.CreateItemFromTemplate("C:UsersDesktop emplate.oft")

[Code] .....

I've recreated the template file in Outlook 2010, thinking that the template created with Outlook 2007 would be the culprit, but to no avail.

What could have changed from Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2010 that would render my previously valid code ineffective?

Are there certain references I need to enable in both Access and Outlook to allow VBA in Access modify the content in an Outlook email?

Forms :: Access 2010 Auto Update Calculated Date Field?

Jan 21, 2015

I have a database to track temporary decertification's. I have the expiration and max dates calculated out from the original dates at the top of each box. The temp expiration date is calculated by adding 267 days from the first date . When we enter an extension, the new expiration date is 30 days from the extension date. My question is, how can I make the expiration date update when a new extension is put in.

For ex.

Temp Decert Date: 05 Dec 2014
Temp Decert Extens 1:
Temp Decert Extens 2:
Temp Decert Extens 3:
Temp Experation Date: 31 Aug 2015
Max Temp Date: 04 Dec 2015

how can I make the expiration date update to go 30 days from what is in the extens field 1, 2, and 3 (respectively) instead of 267 days from the original date?

So I want it to look like this after updating a field

Temp Decert Date: 05 Dec 2014
Temp Decert Extens 1: 30 Aug 2015
Temp Decert Extens 2:
Temp Decert Extens 3:
Temp Experation Date: 29 Sep 2015
Max Temp Date: 04 Dec 2015

Modules & VBA :: Name Auto-Correct Off But Auto Changes Appear

May 22, 2014

Access 2010 keeps changing the Capitalization of objects when I don't want it to.

For example "Cancel" becomes "cancel". Later it will be changed back to "Cancel".

There is also a table with a field "FULLNAME". Several Queries build a field "FullName". As a result FullName, even in places like Application. CodeProject.FullName get changed to Application.CodeProject.FULLNAME.

(Track Name AutoCorrect is off. ) It is especially irritating because I export the code to text files and check it into source control. Sometimes dozens, or even hundreds, of files will show up as changed because Access did it's rename thing.
