Access 2010 / Contact Picture Keeps Changing?

I am using Access 2010 and have set up a contact database using the contact template. On each Contact I have put a picture of the person but if I attach an attachment to the contact sheet it then changes the picture to paper clip for the attachment and I wonder if there was a way of stopping this?

I want to be able to type a nickname for a contact and it populate the full name in a query for a report. Is there a way to effectively get this done? I have tried combo box and I am not sure how to use the drop down list function.

I created a report from a query and there is many fields therefore it made the report 22" wide. I rearranged the fields with in 8" but in the property field when I put 8 in there it does not change and it goes right back to 22". in print preview there are 6 pages and only 3 with info showing the other 3 are the extra width of the report.

I have a list box and a series of 11 fields a user can search by. My problem is that the List Box has changed the column order.
Example: In the design wizard of the list box I had it such that the columns were in order 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
Now after I hit search the fields populate out of order... 4, 9, 2, 1, etc...

So... I have the pivot table with the following columns...
Sum of Numerator, Sum of Denominator, and a computed field for Rate
My Rate calculation is: iif(Denominator = 0, Null, Numerator/Denominator)...
I have at least 15 of these rates (numerator, denominator, rate) on the same report..it works fine, but my business analyst has clarified the Rate requirement that if the denominator is 0 then the Rate should display 0 (instead of Null)..
When I change my Rate computed field to iif(Denominator = 0, 0, Numerator/Denominator) and press the "Change" button all the numerators and denominators on the pivot table are blanked out... I've refreshed the pivot table and everything; but, I can't stop this from happening. why the heck can't Access' pivot table be as robust as Excel's ???

I have created a member data base form in Access2010.
That has been populated with 366 member records
I have two text box fields that are currently free type fields, Member Type & Member Status.
What is the best way I can change these to show only the relevant options:
i.e. Member Type ( Full, Family, Pensioner, Life. )
Member status ( Current, Lapsed, Deceased)
I have tried to right click the field but the "change to" option is greyed out & not available.
I have also tried to insert a combo box or list box to show these options. The "use control wizard" option has been highlighted but when I drag either a combo box or list box into the form. the wizard does not activate.

I have the need to put a company logo on a form based on the company selected from a combobox on the form. I have a table which has one field for company name and another field containing the picture object. The form itself is bound to a different table where I want to company selected from the combobox to be recorded. I want to make the form capable of displaying the logo (bound ole object?) based on the company selected from the combobox.
I think I am close, but I do not know the proper method for doing this.

I have a MS Access 2010 application when the User opens form CONTACTS Form
◦User finds single record to be used CONTACTID is identifier to be used for selection
◦User clicks button to open form frm_MAIL_MERGE
◦Frm_MAIL_MERGE has a drop down combo box that reads the folder location where the application resides and displays all .DOTM files (that is all template files) and one more combo box which contains the CONTACTID.
◦User selects single .dotm file for merge
◦Frm_MAIL_MERGE has either drop down to select CONTACTID or UNBOUND data field for user to type in CONTACTID number
◦User enters CONTACTID to be used for the mail merge
◦User selects SUBMIT
◦Application merges selected .dotm file with the information in table CONTACTS for the selected CONTACTID
◦Merged document is saved on the user Desktop as xxx.docx

Is it possible to have a value in an excel 2010 cell be used to update an access 2010 db?
For example, if in a spreadsheet "test" cell A2=3 then in a db "test" a column "value" is 3. However, if the value in the spreadsheet changes so does the db.

I wish to work in Access 2010 with a subset of my Outlook 2010 contacts (all desktop- no network barriers), so I am exploring the Desktop Contacts DB found in Microsoft's templates. It passes contact data back and forth using the standard macros, but I wish to add more fields from Outlook. It seems I need to find the code associated with the macro. I believe I can solve the problem using a Linked table, but am wondering if there is another solution?
Calendar synchronization is another issue. Linking gets me to the Archive Calendars, but not the Current one in Outlook which is what I want.

I have a form that I would like to update a picture on using VBA. The source of the picture path is in part a query that is not bound to the form. So far I have the following code that is pretty much working, but with a couple flaws.

This is working. However, when I change the record the picture flashes the current picture once and then loads the new picture. It is like it reloads the current picture then loads the new one. I'm hoping there is a way to get rid of the flash.
Also, the code fails here:
strDefaultPictureName = rs.Fields("AttachmentName")
When the query does not return a record. I can definitely fix this by adding an if statement to check for a record, but I'm kind of perplexed at why it is failing at that line. I would expect it to assign an empty string to that variable name and then fail on the next command where I try and set the ".Picture" property of the image.

I am new to the 2010 version and I am working on downloading contact sheets from excel into access. The download is complete and I see all the sheets and can filter, but my contacts page is still empty. How do I get the contacts from the different sheets into my contact list?

Microsoft has a Desktop Student Database template (Access 2010) that does exactly what I'm trying to do:
open the Outlook Contacts dialog box, select a contact from the GAL, and then programmatically save it to a record in one of my tables.
I've tried simulating the button/coding on my data entry form, but I'm getting the error:
"The command or action 'AddFromOutlook' isn't available now"
I've search high and low but have only found a reference to creating a temp contacts table to import all the contacts.

I have an Access 2007 SQL database with 20 users. The DB has a list of about 3,000 email addresses that I want to export to Outlook for mass mailing. I've already got the services of an SMTP mail service that allows 1000 mails at a pop to be sent, and I've already written in the logic to separate the list into groups of 1k.
The problem I'm having is that I'm currently exporting from Access 2007 to Excel 2003 format (for some unknown reason Outlook 2007 does not directly interface with Access 2007), and then I have to manually go through the import steps within Outlook to bring the data from each 1k name group spreadsheet into a contact group for mailing.
It all works fine as it is, but it's clunky as hell. I want to automate that process, but I'm not very familiar with Outlook. I'm not even sure what the file format is for a group. Surely it must have its own format, like group1.xxx, or something. My ultimate objective is to export straight from access to the .xxx (whatever it is) format, direct it straight to the appropriate folder within Outlook and in the process eliminate the need for the more tedious steps required to import each Excel file within Outlook that I'm currently using.

I'm using an unbound text box and a command button to filter a list of contacts on a continuous form. The continuous form has a query for the record source and the list ends up showing only what is in the strWhere filter

Is there a way to have Access 2003 take this filtered list and populate the To: field in Outlook or whatever the default mail client is? Each email needs to be deliminated by ";"

I would like to have a picture appear in the detail section of my access report if a certain condition is true.
For example, if [Membership] = "Gold" I would like to have a small bitmap logo displayed (clip art of a gold star).
So, in effect I want an unbound image to be visible or not visible based on some other field in the report.

I saw a demo that the user could copy and paste a JPG format file physically to ACCESS, and then something happened, and ACCESS could read the JPG length and width size (e.g. 1.3 meter length and 1.15 meter width) into 2 individual ACCESS cells which is acted the same as user input to that 2 clells.

I've been using the following code successfully in Access 2003 & now I need to migrate to Access 2010. The purpose of the code is to use the items that the user selects in the list box to build the criteria of a query. is there a way to have both Access 2010 and 2003 exist peacefully on the same desktop. My company uses Office 2010, but my department has an Access 2003 application. As a result, I have to have A2003 on my desktop and use it quite frequently for this one application.
I have some small databases that I really want to move onto A2010 so we can take advantage of SharePoint functions, etc. Is there anytning I can do to be sure that the .mdb and .mde open in A2003 and the new .accdb opens in A2010, without getting errors and the Windows installer going through the Office installation process for the respective version? I've gone to the file locations and set the "Open with" setting to the respective version.

I have Access 2010 database.
I have a Reporting Dashboard form that inturn has many buttons to open up different reports and forms.
Now I have been asked to extend the access to a few other users with restricted access. The new users cannot see all the form and report buttons in the Reporting dashboard form.
How can i restrict this? They also need to be given separate logins and passwords. How I can accomplish this?
