Access Criteria Query

May 10, 2007

Hi,
I hope someone will be able to help me with this one, I have a simple access query set-up which references to a table containing information about processed orders (From a ficticious company). I am trying to set up a query that will display all order placed within the last week. I have edited the criteria on the date filed to

Between Now() And Now()-"7"

Now this sort of works in that it filters the data, but it doesn't filter it by the day but by the year. i.e. Any order played within the last 7 years rather than the last 7 days. Any help much appreciated.
Sorry for being such a n00b,
Thanks for looking!
cheers

Access To MS Query, Using Criteria

Aug 22, 2006

Sorry if this is a very elementary question...

My boss dumped data into an Access database. I set up an ODBC connection so I could pull the data to Excel using MS Query. I have no problem pulling data, until I try to put criteria on a numerical field in the query, then it throws an error.
In MS Query, it's a simple 2 table set up. With 1 join. I am pulling 1 text field and 3 number fields.
One of the number fields is actually a date, but shows up as a number, so the criteria I want is >20060801 .
The error I get is: Internal OLE Automation error ... the help button only says it is a problem with the driver.
I removed and reset up my ODBC connection and tried changing the format of that number date field to date/time field.
Any ideas?
Thanks!! Christen

Access Query Using Criteria In Linked Excel Table

May 4, 2006

I use an Excel interface to retrieve data from an Access file that has approximately 1 million records. I use an MS Query from Excel to run an Access Query to retrieve the data.

I have 16 "Criteria" fields (columns) in Excel that I change with drop-downs. Each criteria column has 2 to 9 values set; a total of 75 values. I pass these criteria fields to Access via a table link in Access.

The criteria of the fields in the query that is run in Access to pull the data based on the table link is updated by using the Values In A List (IN) option.

When I refresh this query in Excel, it pulls the data fine, but may take 10 minutes to run. (I am using MS Office 2003, 1Gig memory). I have limited VBA knowledge. Is there a better/faster way to pull this data?

Run A Query In Access That Will Limit Number Of Records For Each Criteria?

Nov 25, 2013

I am looking to run a query in Access that will limit the number of records for each criteria.

example:

>10 years count 300
1-3 years count 100
4-6 years count 200
6-10 years count 250

can limit the amount in one query or have to do the criteria separate?

I am writing a small database using MS Access 2007. I have in it a function for running queries and printing reports. Printing works just fine if any one of the multiple query criteria is give.

I also want to trap errors and present a message if the user clicks the "Print" button without a query criteria. At the moment I only get a run-time syntax error message which has a "debug" button for accessing the entire code. I want a message that will say "There was no search criteria".

This is the code for printing:

Code:
Private Sub cmdPrint_Click()

Queries :: Access Database - Query Based On Multiple Day / Date Criteria

Jul 26, 2015

I am currently working on a project to develop an access database to manage a roster of calls to clients on a daily basis based on two general criteria:

1. Pre-determined days selected by the client. (e.g. Call Mon, Wed, Fri only. This can change as client requirements change.)

2. Ad-hoc changes based on the client’s circumstances. (e.g. No call from 27/7/2015 to 29/7/ 2015)

I have managed to successfully deal with the second of these with the following expression in a query:

CallToday?: IIf((Date()>=[NoCallFrom] And Date()<=[NoCallTo]),"No","Yes")

However dealing with the first is a little more difficult to work out. I have tried a multivalue lookup field with multiple days selectable, but constructing an IIF query to deal with these multiple values is proving quite a challenge.

I am thinking of using a table with days of the week and a junction table to allow the multi-selection, but I may need constructing the relationships and the query here.

Queries :: Access 2010 Query Won't Recognize Criteria From Form Text Box

May 7, 2014

I've been writing queries in the following format for years in Access 2003, but having recently transistioned to Access 2010, I've found the following sql doesn't work.transform

sum(s.value)
SELECT
s.sn, s.ln, s.pn, s.id, s.lat, s.point, s.supply_type, s.used, s.real, s.code, c.name
FROM
supply_points s
, codes c
WHERE
s.code = c.code
and s.id is not null
and s.code = 1075
and s.month >=[forms]![main]![gppstart ]
group by
s.sn, s.ln, s.pn, s.id, s.lat, s.point, s.supply_type, s.used, s.real, s.code, c.name
pivot
s.month

In Access 2010, this query returns the following error message:the Microsoft Access database does not recognize '[forms]![main]![gppstart]' as a valid field name or expression

Is this a common phenomena in Access 2010?

Access Query To Filter Out List Based On Multiple Row Criteria From Another Table

May 10, 2014

I have an access database in which I have a table A and table B. Table A has a list of 200 website URLs. Table B has one column ID and another criteria.

I want to create a query to filter websites list which does not have values or characters from table b.

I have these values in table B that I want to be filtered out or not shown in my URL Select Query

.org
.gov
.du
.pk
.dk

I would keep on adding more criteria into this so criteria table so adding new criteria into table B should not disturb our filtering.

Below is what I have tried but in vain and it says atmost you can atmost one criteria row in sub query

SELECT tableA.WEB_ADDRESS
FROM tableA
WHERE ((([tableA].[wEB_ADDRESS] Not Like '*'+(SELECT * FROM tableB)+'*')=True));

Setting Query Criteria To Be 'blank' Depending On The Criteria Of A Combo Box

Oct 21, 2006

I have set up a database that stores actions (i.e jobs). In the table; two of the fields are...'required completion date' and 'actual completion date'. I wish to lookup, by using a query, all of the open actions (those which havent yet been complete (i.e the 'actual completion date' is null)) and then later on all those which are overdue (i.e the 'actual completion date' is null And the 'required completion date' <today....this being the criteria for an overdue action).

However, I have used a form which has a combo box which contains the values open and overdue. When a selection has been made I want a form to display with the results depending on the selection that has been made. I am capable of creating a form based on a query, but am unsure of how to construct the query with the correct criteria based on the option that is selected from the form.

Any help would gratefully be appreciated. Thanks

Use Query Generated Field As Criteria For Another Query?

Apr 2, 2008

I am trying to use a single record and cell of data generated from a query as criteria in another query but can't figure out how to do it? Is there a way to reference a query field in the criteria in design view of another query?

Details:

I have a table of data for each month with supplier codes in each table, but no date field.

I am trying to build a query that will automatically pick the most recent month of data. I have built a query that uses an iif statement in SQL assigning a number to the most recent month of data and then I am using the max filter in that query to show the single highest number (But this logic misses suppliers some suppliers but does assign a number to the most recent set of data). In this case its 2 for february data. I want to use this digit to filter a seperate criteria that will show me all the supplier codes for the month of february. One problem is that some suppliers are in every month others, come and go throughout the year, so I have to assign this criteria for each month. Therefore I want to use the 2 from the first query and plug that into each criteria section under each month field of the second query.

The other option that I can think of but can't seem to find a fix, is to merge all 12 tables so there are duplicate entries and can have a date or number assigned for each month that the supplier code shows up, then just use the max number. I can't seem to find a way to add all the codes creating duplicates into one field. I used a union query but there are no duplicates with this method thus foiling my plan.

Please help

Forms :: Access 2007 - Binding Control To Form RecordSource With Criteria?

Nov 12, 2013

I have a form with a (large) number of controls which acts as a kind of read-only dashboard of data. The data is split across a number of tables (4, for now, but may grow) I've created a query which amalgamates all of the data from the tables into a single dataset and set that as the RecordSource (Snapshot) of the form. I now want to bind each of the controls to a particular field returned by that query.

However - I have a combobox (same form) which allows users to select a date and I need the controls to update with the relevant data for that date whenever the combobox is changed. The query already returns values for each field over a range of dates so the data is available within the form's RecordSource - I just don't know how to include the date criteria, as specified by the combobox, when binding each individual control?

Help With Query Criteria

Aug 24, 2005

I'm developing a report whose query is linked to a resources table containing background info about each of the resources in my department. Currently, the query pulls data for all resources regardless of whether or not they're still employed by my organization. In the resources table there is a field called "end date." If a resource is no longer employed with the organization, we input their date of departure. I only want the report to show info for those employees currently employed with the organization. Hence, I must make note of this in the query. I've tried the following in the criteria box for the end field,however I continue to receive a data type mismatch error. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

"Is Null"
