Access Generates A Spelling Error

Nov 21, 2006

I have a label on a form with text including the word "generated".
The funny thing is when I switch from Design View to Form View generated becomes genneerraat :eek: :confused:

It's easy enough to use a different word but there's obviously a problem somewhere and I'm worried that Access might make a mess of other words too.

Anyone have ideas what's going on here?

Addition: No matter what words I use, the last 10 or so characters of the text in the label is changed when switching views. I have been playing around with the text a bit more and it appears that the character & is the source of the problem. When I delete the &s everything looks fine again.

Anyone care to comment?

Reports :: Number Spelling Report Error?

May 9, 2013

I have 2 table:
- tblInvoice include Inv#, Type (Debit/Credit), InvoiceDate, ...
- tblCharge: ChargeCode, UP, Qty...

I have created a qry of these 2 table. It works properly. I added a Number spelling function to convert Total amt to word.

The error has happned when I change anything in tblInvoice. Every time I run the report, the report reports error 13 Type Mismatch. When I run debug, it point to Sodoc = Round(Sodoc, 0).

It's strange. This Number spelling function only spells the number in the report why is it impacted (by the change of tblInvoice record)?

P/S: The following is the Number spelling function mentioned above.

=======
Option Compare Database
Public Solay(0 To 15) As String
Public Donvilay(0 To 4) As String

INSERT Query Which Generates An ID Per Rec.

May 17, 2005

Hi all,

I have an INSERT INTO query that inserts multiple records in an excisting table.

What i need is a functionlity that fills a column called, lets say 'myID' with a query-unique increment.

So, when the query inserts 50 records the ID should increment from 0 to 49.
The next time i might insert 23 rec's and then the ID column should go from 0 to 22.

I tried to call a simple VBA function in the SQL query that returns i+1 and increments i, but that code is only evaluated once every run, so that doesnt work.

any suggestions? maybe in SQL or VBA

Thanks alot!

Spelling Of Name In Table Affects Whether It Appears On Reports?

Mar 28, 2014

I have a simple dbase that shows names in a table as "Smith, John" for example. My query links two tables, and should show all names in the aforementioned table. However, certain names are missing. Here's where it get's weird - if I change the spelling of their name (Smith, J for example), suddenly they will show with the correct data. There are no common strings to the missing names, but on each, when I change the spelling, each missing name appears. I have made sure the relationship is joined to show all data in the "Names" dbase.

Error #error In MS Access???

Dec 31, 2005

I'm from Vietnam and my English is bad. In my database, I have only a table named tblEmployees, which contains these following fields: Employee_ID (data type: text), Name (text), Salary (number) and Allowance (number). I build a form bound to this table. In the footer of this form, I have a textbox control named txtSumSalary that contains the expression: =Sum([Salary]). Everythings is OK. But when I build an another textbox named txtSumAllowance that contains the expression: =Sum([Allowancess]) (I misspelled this field intentionally), the result are error #error in both textbox controls. I don't understand why the textbox txtSumAllowance wrong, the textbox txtSumSalary is wrong too. Help me!!! Thanks a lot!

MS Access Table Access Error ! ! !

Aug 20, 2007

One of my user gets the following error from MS Access running from his local machine and linking to the database & appropriate tables. The front end MS Access application uses back end SQL server to get info from. ODBC connections are in place, folder/file NTFS security for this user is also in place. he is admin on his PC. His machine uses DHCP to connect to the network. One thing I'd like to mention is: We have Citrix server on which this application is published and this user can connect and perform the same tasks using the Citrix client. He is having errors in connecting to the tables Only when he launches locally.

Recently he got new upgraded PC and since than this problem arose. He was OK on his older PC. Any ideas what & where else to look?

In my opinion, it must be some tweak that needs to be done on user's machine.

PS: The problem appeared only on this user's new PC, from his old PC he was able to get to the tables and all other good stuff. All other users in the same group do not have any problems at all.

Thanks
Sam

Access Error! Help

Jun 20, 2006

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help. I'm not sure of the best way to describe the problemb but will try anyway. I have noticed that when using my database, every so often after a period of use the toolbars start to have problems i.e. when you select edit no drop down appears but if you roll over where it should be some options start to appear. Also the use of the copy, cut, paste etc buttons become unusable. However, if I close all forms, queries etc and reopen a starting form, the problem is gone again for another period of time. I run off Access 2000 and wonder if this is a problem with this version or something else. I would be very thankful if someone could shed some light on this problem i.e. explain it better to me and offer some advice on fixing the problem if possible.

Thanks hope I explained in a way that is just about understandable.

Access Error

Nov 20, 2007

I am getting a Microsoft Access Error when I try to open a database on a network drive. The error message says "The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'Databases'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly." I also got a message that "Windows was unable to save all the data" for the database. This database worked fine Monday morning, but after lunch everyone who uses the database received these messages and the database would not open (myself included, and I am the owner of the database). I compacted and repaired the database late Friday afternoon. The size of the database is only 6.91 MB (I read in another post that a database cannot be more than 2 GB). Do you know why this would have happened and what I can do to prevent it from happening again?

Access Error. Please Help

Hi
I have made an application in Access 2002 on my computer using in Regional and Language Settings/Language for non-Unicode Programs "Romanian". Now, I need to run my application as a front-end on other computers where the language is "english" but my application is refusing to work. I receive the same error for all my buttons, combo boxes, on "something" action: "the expression on <<action>> you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: a problem occurred while was communicating with the ole server or activeX control". I work to activeX and references but all seems to be ok. If I change the language back on to 'Romanian", the application work fine. What can I do to make it work on other computers with other language?

Access Vb Error

Jan 18, 2008

Hello,

I am running one of my own scripts with some loops in between. It does work from start to finish, but I get this error message popping up in between:

Run time error 3052

File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile registry entry.

If I hit Debug and then Play, the script will continue its process till the end just fine. But I have to continue hitting it everytime it starts a new loop. So, I have been babysitting this script until the loop is complete.

Questions are:
1. Where do I find MaxLocksPerFile registry?
2. What does this error message mean?

Thanks.

Access 97 Date() Error

Sep 12, 2005

Windows XP
Office 2003 SP1 with Access 97 SR2

When opening a certain Access database a user is recieving this error:
Function isn't available in expressions in query expression '(((PRODUCTION.DATECREATE)=Date())'.

This only happens on a specific computer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office, Access, I've even tried just installing Office 97. I also went through and reinstalled all the ActiveX controls that have to do with the date (MSCAL.ocx gives us trouble sometimes).

I'm not that familiar with the programming for the database, it was done quite some time before I got here, but I know enough to understand what is happening. I think the problem lies with the Date() function (this still happens as admin on her machine so it isn't a permissions error) but I have no idea how to fix it.

I remember reading something not long ago about a similar issue that had to do with differing versions of library files for VBA. I was going to try and replace the library file containing that function on her machine with one from mine, until I found that it apparently isn't stored in a file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm at my wits' end with this thing.

Access Error Codes

Jan 23, 2008

Does anyone out there have any ideas on how I can get a full list of the error codes and their descriptions for microsoft access?

I've set up a simple table with two fields, one for the error code and the other for the description. I've written a short bit of code (see below) to build the table for me, but it only generates 88 codes with the highest being 746.

Now I know that there are error codes up in the 3000 area because I'm trapping a few of them.

What I'm looking for is a list of the error code so I may write an extended list in my error trapping routines.

Code as follows:

Private Sub Form_Load()
Dim My_RecordSet As DAO.Recordset, My_DataBase As DAO.Database
Dim My_Error As Long
Dim My_Description As String

For My_Error = 0 To 4000

On Error Resume Next

Err.Raise My_Error
My_Description = Err.Description

If My_Description <> "" Then

If My_Description <> "Application-defined or object-defined error" Then

Set My_DataBase = CurrentDb
Set My_RecordSet = My_DataBase.OpenRecordset("ErrorCode_Table", dbOpenDynaset, dbAppendOnly)
With My_RecordSet
.AddNew
![ErrorCodes] = My_Error 'set error #
![ErrorString] = My_Description 'set error description
.Update
.Close
End With

End If

End If

Next My_Error

End Sub

Here's my code

End Function

Public Function Edit()
If Me!username = [tblpersonnel.username1] Then
AllowEdits = True
ElseIf Me.username = "martiscm" Then

AllowEdits = True
Else: AllowEdits = False
End If

Also once I'm in the form, if I navigate to the next record I get the same message but it's for On click.

Error : 3734 Ms Access

Jun 14, 2007

hi,

I recently was told that a user has been locked out of a 2003 Ms Access database. This is the error:
The database has been placed in a state by user <name> on machine <name> that prevents it from being opened or locked.
(Error 3734)
This error occurs when the new passive shutdown/connection control is being used.
This error message indicates that a user set the database in a mode that will prevent other users from opening it.
******

I checked the "options/advanced" in the tools menu to see if the exclusive was not checked , and it's not. I read that I should turn the "open exclusive" under User/Work group permissions to off. But, I noticed that other database that are shared have this checked. Should I set "exclusive" off, or could it be something else? thanks -
