From an Access Project database would like to run reports setup in another database, which contains some custom reports. I would like to go directly to the report preview not just open the second database. Can someone help me with how I would be able to accomplish this? I have tried using a macro but have not been successful.
Generally for doing filtering on the reports, we attach a form that gets activated on opening of the report(i.e, by attaching the event to open a form on opening the report). But I would like to know if there is any way that the report can be opened on some event fired in the form?
I Created a database that allows the user to create a jobsheet (Sign off Sheet) with inputting minimal information.I am having some problems accessing the data from my form to a report. I managed to get the full name of my AssignedTo and OpenedBy come up with this
But this is only bringing up the information in my tblContacts and not actually assigning itself to the jobsheet. I have tried to just put in the "assigned to" but then this comes up as the ID number rather then the full name. And I have also tried to do this via the join table tblJobSheetContact but this only brings up Mr.
I have copied a database that I used for another project for a new one. Everything is the same but when I try to use the command buttons on the form it give me "no record found" error, even though there are records in the database. I know that the Error message is the one that is writin in the database by the orginal designer, I can't quite figure out how to fix the problem I think that it has something to do with the VB coding in the comand button, becuase of the type error message that I am geting, but I don't know how to do it. I can't post the database becuase it is way to big. Everything else is working fine. What hte command button is supposed to do is update a total score percentage based off the numbers that placed in the database also any of the score can be left blank as to not count, max for each score is 5 min is zero, i.e.score1=3score2=5score3=5score4=score5=4score6=3Total Score =80.00%I hope that this makes sence.J
Ok, Let's say I go into File->Database Properties from the "main" Access screen. This brings up a window with the title "<database name> Properties" where <database name> is the same as currentproject.name.
This window has several tabs including "Summary" and "Custom." It looks like this should be stuff that I can set and then reference from within my code.
My thought is that I can use the "Title" from the "Summary" screen as a variable for all of my msgbox titles. The other interesting one is "Project" on the "Custom" tab. It looks like this may be the same sort of thing.
I've found that the Access Help is absolutely useless - I'm about ready to take a shotgun to "Clippy." But as they say, a display is a terrible thing to waste <grin>. I've also found that it's getting harder and harder to find what I'm looking for in the MSDN library. There's so much stuff and they don't always file it in logical places.
Well, thanks for reading.. sorry for the rant. As usual, any help is appreciated!
Can anyone help me please I have a client database which is linked to website is there is anyway that the database can be linked remotely.
eg if one of the company staff is on the road and want to access the database to view and see what kind of info has been stored in there. So that they can access the database remotely once its on the server. How do you make it possible for this to happen or is there some VB programming need to be done to make this possible
I have a database of books that contains all the informations about the books in a library, and ofcourse the forms for accessing the database ie searching adding editing and all this, is it possible in access to make a restriction so that only the administrator can edit or add to the database and the other users can only search for books and print reports I know the logic of creating a password table and a form with a username and a password which checks if the user can access and then open the corresponding form (using isvisible property for the edit and add botton) but even if i did that the user in reality can see the tables and the forms of the database and can change them directly please if anyone has an idea?????? thanks
Is it possible to access a table in one Database (Database A) from a separate Database (Database B) and if so how. I should clarify that this is an Access Database.
I have created a database, with various forms, modules and tables. Cos this is to be used where I work I have created an ACCDE version. I can't get the original version to open so that I can make changes.
If I need to take the backend of my database offline for changes, what's the best/easiest way to inform the users? Is there some code I can drop into the front end? I'm thinking a "on database open, if [available] in tblClose equals no, then open frmDatabaseOffLine". But I don't know a) if that's possible or b) how to program it.
And yes I now that's the title of a Knowledge base article, I stole it because it put into words what I can only say in expletives right now.
Basically, well it's all a bit odd. I got users on the network who, until yesterday, could access some networked databases. Other files from the same source are ok, just Access files. Today the moment they click (and I mean a single-click) on the icon to open the database...explorer hangs. You can't open the database from within MS Access either, that hangs too. But you CAN open them up and use them if you can get them copied locally. Oh yeah, some people (in the same room, on the same VLAN) can access the database, but can't perform any tasks within it. Databases are a mix of 97 and 2000. And to make matters worse, it's happening on another server.
I know you're gonna shout virus, but that looks to be a non-starter since I know of no such virus which would affect ONLY Access files and do it on a single click, and secondly The systems check out fine with both Sophos (and our good luck charm AVG) run against them.
Holy Moley! Has anyone ever come accross such a palarva?
Twice a year, a database of mine is accessed and put too use by various staff within a time range of 1 week. the database is on a shared drive and in a location which can be accessed by all.
The staff access the database from different workstations and in some instances at the same time.
This has only led to issues in the database being copied and then confusing staff on what database to click on thus i have 2 databases which i then have to sift through and copy/paste into the correct one.
I want to know the best way i can:
1) Prevent multiple users accessing the database at a time. 2) making a copy of the original and typing into a separate database.
I am used to old Access 97 where I could edit a report while others are in it. I created an Access 2007 db and it does not let me edit unless I have exclusive rights to the file. Is there a way to turn that functionality on?(editing reports/queries/ while others are in the database. ?
Hi, I am Cesar Gonzalez, I am preparing a exam and I am struggle to get the right information for this topic. There are several questions that I would like help with, if possible.
This is the list of Questions that I need to prepare.
a. Explanation of Crystal Reports (what Crystal Reports is trying to do? and how does it do it?) b. Explanation of the role played by XML (and optionally any language written in XML) c. A possible role for a database in the application. d. why is XML used in Crystal Reports. e. How does XML simplify storage on Crystal Reports? f. How does XML simplify sharing on Crystal Reports? g. What does XML replace? h. What does the XML represent in the chosen application? i. How is the XML processed? j. Are there any disadvantages of using XML? When a database is used alongside XML: k. How are they related? l. Is the XML stored and if so how is it stored? m. How is the XML queried?
I Have this exam for the next 10-Apr-2008, So I would need this help before 9-Apr-2008 (Next Wednesday).
Any link/s to a website that could answer some or all the questions would be appreciate.
I would really appreciate if any of you could give a hand, althoug I know it is quite long question.
Thanks in advance, either you can answer or not.
PS: I dont know if you can send it to my email, but if so please fell free to send the answer to my email.
Our office needs a way to track reports that are due to us, so I'm trying to build an Access database to do that. What happens is this...
We put out a weekly tasking document (called an AFCTO) every Friday that tasks our outside agencies (units) to do various things. Each task in the AFCTO directs a single unit to do a specific thing. Units may be tasked multiple times in the AFCTO (one-to-many relationship), but each task only applies to one unit.
Some tasks require the units to send us reports on the status of that task, while other tasks don't. The reports that are due can occur at different frequencies. For instance, some tasks require our units to send us reports weekly on Thursdays; other tasks may require reports to be sent to us monthly on the 1st; other tasks may require daily reporting.
Now, with all that said, we need a way to see what's due to us each day. What I would like is a report that displays what's due for this week, similar to this:
So far I have a very rough mockup of what the form should look like (fmAFCTOTasks in the attached db):
The user can type in the AFCTO Task Number of the task, the start and end datetime group, the unit assigned to that task, the task desc, what type of report is due, what triggers the report, and the frequency at which the report is due. Reports can have one of two triggers...
1) event driven (something happens that requires a report to be due), or 2) date driven (report is due on certain date or day(s)).
Obviously if a report is event-driven, then there will be no frequency or date/day associated with it. How to structure the tables and the form.
in my daily roll call report i have 2 groups..."on program" and "graduates" these 2 groups are creating in the query...as u see in the 2nd pic... the expression as followed
i will clarify that i took out the names in the roll call but both groups are sorted by the date they came in going down the list..now i need to add another group "Staff Members" to my roll call.every way i have tried altering the query expression or the report expression result in a blank roll call.
database is on laptop, the pc downstairs can open and access the db fine, but the pc next to it upstairs can see the db but gets an error on opening - of course they are using a german version of access so im not entirely sure of the error message but its basically "cant open the db on this intranet, copy it to your pc and then open it"
all pcs are running xp and the same version of access (2002) the db is in the laptops shared docs folder one pc can open it fine the pc in question can open and edit a word doc (for example) in the same folder but not the mdb i can map the drive on the pc as well
it seems more of a win xp file permission thing but the pc can open and edit a word doc ok
the only thing (seemingly) different with the 3 pcs is that the problem pc is in english and the other 2 in german (but why that would matter i dont know)
i'm supposed to be the pc guru but this has me stumped - any ideas ?
I got a little problem here. I have a mdb that must be moved to another pc, but whenever I try to open it (on the other pcs) I get the message that I don't have permission to read. When I try to change the permissions it says that I must be an administrator to do that, but I am the pc administrator, so I guess it must be the mdb's administrator. Does anyone know how to change the permissions, or how to make me the program's administrator/proprietary? Thanks for your time people!
I have time entry program that the company I work for recently purchased that uses a SQL server 2000 Back end. I can connect to the database just fine if I create a project in Access. What I need to do is take data out of a couple of the tables in the SQL Server and place them in an access table. I really don't want to add any code or tables to the Access project that I created since it seems it would add tables and queries to this products database. What would be the best way to siphon data out of this software package for my own use? This would become a daily process so it needs to be fairly automated and easy.
I have a database in MS SQL. The users connect to database via MS ACCES ADP applications.
Some tables (like a TV Station or Names of employees) in the database have fields that serve as the flags. If the flag has a value of one, then such a record is used in the query to create a report.
Because there are multiple users of the database, frequently happens that flags overlap. One user sets the flag to one, and second sets the flag to zero. Therefore, it often happens that the received report incorrect.
I have a report database that provides my company with clients that took our training modules and notify us of which clients completed our trainings. The clients can complete training in 3 States and "Passed" means they are good to go.
I download an excel report daily and import it to Access on a daily basis. Problem is the Report is over 8,000 rows long and basically I just need the clients that completed training within past 48 hours. The excel report provides a date of completion.
code that only pulls those clients that "Passed" within the last 48 Hours. Here is my SQL Statement I use on the RecordSource.
SELECT report.SPS, report.FirstName, report.region, report.id, report.AZ_Cert, report.AZStatus, report.CA_CERT, report.CAStatus, report.OR_CERT, report.ORStatus, report.Completed FROM report WHERE (((report.Completed)=False));
The completed checkbox removes the record from the cert queue. How can I do this more efficiently? I think I have it right.
Private Sub Completed_Click() Const cstrPrompt As String = _ "Are you sure you want to complete this record? Yes/No" If MsgBox(cstrPrompt, vbQuestion + vbYesNo) = vbYes Then If Me.Dirty Then Me.Dirty = False ' save the record Forms!frmRecertView.subfrmRecert.Requery End If End If End Sub
