Is it possible to edit the recent files of a access database?
We have a main database (version control database) from where you can open a database which is located on a network drive.
By selecting the datbase you need from a dropdown menu, access will check which version you have locally. If there is an updated version available on the network it will download this updated version, overwriting the old one. The 'main' database is then closed and the local version of the database you needed is opened.
The problem is that this local database is mentioned in the recent files history so people are able to bypass using the main database.
In Excel you can clear the recent files with application. Recent Files setting the maximum to 0 and back to original again. In Access you do not have this option.
Where I would be able to find this option. Ideally I'd like to only take out a specific databasename from the recent files, rather then resetting the full list.
I have an Access 2010 database that I have split. In the database I have a couple tables, forms and two reports. I have entered some data into one of the tables, but when I go to edit the data in the form the next time, there is no data (though I have verified that there is data in the table). Also, there are two reports that can pull the data without any problem.
I have a database with a main database that has 2 related tables...my problem is that i only keep data that i really need, in the main table. My problem is that i sometimes need to go back to old data that i erased. so i have to keep old data too. but i can;t on the same database. so i need to move the old records from the main table and all the related data to another database that will keep all the erased data, so if i need to find something i will search on the "deleted records" database.
I have a form to add, edit, and delete Records from a table. I am using the following VBA
Private Sub cmdEdit_Click() If Not (Me.frmlEmpDetailsSub.Form.Recordset.EOF And Me.frmlEmpDetailsSub.Form.Recordset.BOF) Then With Me.frmlEmpDetailsSub.Form.Recordset Me.txtAddEditname = .Fields("Name") Me.cboRoster = .Fields("Roster") Me.cboPermFctn = .Fields("PermFctn") End With End If End Sub
Instead of referring to the Subform to load the data i would like to refer to a combobox:
cboSearchName
Its not an issue but This Combobox contains 5 columns...
All I am trying to do is insert to have a form with a "Delete Record" button on it. The problem is I don't want anyone to be able to delete a record, I would like someone to have to insert a password to confirm the delete.
Hi. I have a form with 3 fields that are required, the other fields within the form are not. Is it possible to make it so the non-required fields are only selectable/editable once the required fields are filled in? And if they are selected, a message appears saying "please edit required field first" or something like that?
I have done a query which has calculated fields, but I can't edit the stored fields directly from the query, instead I have to go to the table so as to edit it. Is this the way it works or is something wrong?
SELECT [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].N_OP, [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[N° FAC EXP], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[FECHA CUMP], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[DERECHO PGC], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[VTO DER EXP], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[IMPORTE REINTEGRO], [DETALLE CONTENEDOR].CANTIDAD, [DETALLE CONTENEDOR].[VALOR FOB], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[TIPO DE CAMBIO], [TIPO DE CAMBIO]*[VALOR FOB] AS [PRECIO VTA (ARS)], [PRECIO VTA (ARS)]*[CANTIDAD] AS [TOTAL(ARS)], [TOTAL(ARS)]/[TIPO DE CAMBIO] AS [TOTAL(USD)] FROM [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE], [DETALLE CONTENEDOR];
I would like to edit a MS Database structure from a Web Browser using ASP. What I mean is I would like to be able to add more columns to a database table or delete or rename...Not the data that is already in the columns... Is this possible? If so can some one please point me in the right direction. I've searched these forums and have not been able to find the answer.
I am used to old Access 97 where I could edit a report while others are in it. I created an Access 2007 db and it does not let me edit unless I have exclusive rights to the file. Is there a way to turn that functionality on?(editing reports/queries/ while others are in the database. ?
I am working on a system to store financial information. I will be extracting our accounts payable journal entries on a monthly basis into Excel. I want to import that data into an Access table. I have several calculations to perform to create new datafields that I need to store in my Access table. Is it possible to perform these calculations as I load the data? If so what the best method to do this? Here is an example. I will be downloading our monthly hardware depreciation and need to split it among departments based on % stored in another Access Table.
I have a number of Yes/No fields in my database (their default value is False), and I am looking to update these via one of my webpages via INSERT INTO... statement.
What I have is a checkbox on the page, with checked value as true, and then before the values are written to the database, for the unchecked boxes, it converts all empty check box values (ie the ones which have been left unticked) to false, so the INSERT INTO statement will either write true or false for each checkbox, like this... true, true, false, true
The thing is, on executing the code, it add all the other details fine, and hits no errors, but NONE of the checkboxes get updated... these ALL remain unticked in the database, so ignoring any true values which are written to it. Please can someone help, I would be sooo thankful ).
I have 2 tables (tblItemsQB and tblItemInfo) that have a 1 to 1 relationship linked by the "PartNumber" field. The tblItemsQB table contains a description field and 2 price fields (this table is downloaded from Quickbooks). The tblItemInfo table contains additional fields with information on the part that isn't contained in Quickbooks, like OrderType, Phase, SubSystem.
I import the items from QB into tblItemsQB and then do an outer join with tblItemInfo to link all the information for the part. If I have created a new part in Quickbooks, when I do the outer join (I include all records from tblItemsQB) I can see the new part but since the part number doesn't exist yet in tblItemInfo, I can't add the information to the fields in that table.
What is the easiest way to create the new PartNumbers (those that exist in tblItemsQb but not in tblItemInfo) in the tblItemInfo table so I can add the other information to it?
I think the title describes best what I want to do. I need to send a letter to some lets say receivers, who fulfill certain criteria, and who appear in a data field in an access database. The letter is common for everyone with the difference of course of their address and name. I am sure this is an easy one for the most of you....
Thanx in advance, Kyriakos p.s. sorry for misspelling some words...
I have a user that is unable to edit records, He can click in the fields but he could not delete or enter data in the fields. He has the ability to edit records but its fields are locked. I created a split database and created a secure front which I distributed it to multiple uses. The other users front end is working fine, expect for the one.
I would like to store equations on certain fields and display and edit them in a form.
I can't find a Microsoft Equation Editor control in the list of ActiveX controls. Is it stored as a .ocx file? How is it named?
In case Equation Editor can't be used within Access, is there another third party addin that provides a control with that functionality? It would be great if there were an application that accepted markup code like LaTeX as input so it were easier to implement a code to manipulate equations.
When I attempt to open any of my Access databases I am presented only with the form that has been selected as the 'startup' option. Furthermore, it seems to be impossible to switch to 'design' view and my only options on the toolbar are File, Edit, Insert, Records, Windows, Help. As far as I can tell, none of these enable me to select the options required to give me my entire database back.
I am something of an Access novice, so if the above problem seems familiar to anyone i'd be grateful for the solution! The help option within MS Access hasn't been particularly useful.
For some reason our database keeps "not responding" ...
The application stops responding when:A field is selected that has a input mask
A combo box is highlighted (forcing the drop-down menu to open)
Certain buttons are pressed (in fact all but two trigger not responding, why the two buttons are immune)
if I put a break point on a section of code that runs when I press a button (any button, it doesnt matter) and I then press the button which takes me to VBA, to the break point. Then I press F5 to continue to run the code until the function ends (essentially doing nothing, just running the code to the soonest break point I can in the function and then running the rest of the code as normal...) it all works fine again!!!!
I fixed the issue by creating the function:
Code: Sub aiuewjgaop() End Sub
saved the database, deleted the function and then saved the database again.
I have a query where I group by EmpID, so duplicates do not show up. In this query I have two fields with no data. These fields are to be filled in after the query is run in a form. However, these fields are not editable due to the group by feature. I tried two unbound fields, which does allow me to type, but doesn't save the changes once I click out of the field. The field then reverts back to blank.
I'm trying to secure my database so users can't edit tables, forms, reports, queries, etc.I'm splitting the database, making an ACCDE for users:
1. I inserted code to disable the bypass key. 2. I inserted code to hide the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) in the On_Load sub of the form that opens with the DB. 3. Deselect Navigation Pane, Allow Full Menus and Allow Default Shortcut Menus are deselected 4. Then, I use the immediate window to show the QAT, I then create an ACCDE.
How do I link this ACCDE with the original ACCDB? Am I supposed to delete tables from the front end and link the forms/reports to the back end DB?
Is it possible to direct the placement/order new of fields when modifying an Ms Access database in code?
I need to modify the schema of an MS Access database via code - but I want to be able to direct the order or placement of the fields within the tables.
For example - if TableOne has 3 fields - Field10, Field20 and Field30.
I would like to be able to add say Field15 between Field10 and Field20 - not just append it to the end of existing fields.
I believe it is possible as you can do it within Ms Access itself. I can use ADO, DAO, ADOX or SQL for that matter - but it seems all of these offer no placement of the field within the table.
I have a split database made in Access 2007. Each user gets their own copy of the frontend from a script. I wanted to be able to edit the design view of the backend tables even if people were using the database so I made all the forms use snapshot source and only allowed data updates through VBA macro update queries. Having any form open locks the backend source table from being edited. In fact, I've found that just having a normal snapshot query open causes the message "Either an object bound to table 'whatever' is open or another user has the table open. Do you want to open the table as read-only?"
Is there some way to have a table be the source for a form or query, but still have it designable under most circumstances?
Attempted to late-bind a recordset on form load; result was the same:
Code: Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("Select redacted as ft from tblRedacted ", dbOpenSnapshot, dbReadOnly) Set Me.Recordset = rs Set rs = Nothing
Is there a automatic way i can delete Fields from a Table? This table gets input into the database very frequently as updates come in and i'd like something like a Query or Macro, where i can define which fields i dont want, to delete the 30+ columns of useless data.
Can't see how to do it with a Query or macro though
Hi Does anyone know how to delete the extra blank fields you get at the end of a query. I am converting the query to a handheld database with a field limit and the extra fields push my field count over the limit. i have tried just 'deleting' them but they reapear when I reopen the query. they definitely count as fields because if I delete some real fields i can do the conversion. i dont want to alter the structure of the original database as it has been in use some time and works well. any ideas advice Thanks supateach
Hi again I am still having problems with too many fields in my query so it will not convert to a handheld database. I have tried making a test query (with the wizard)from the same table and sure enough there are extra fields at the end, which do not come from the table, which reappear after they have been deleted, when you reopen the query. I have attatched the query to illustrate that I have deleted the fields and then they reappear. It does appear to be impossible to get rid of them, in which case I shall have to decrease the number of 'real' fields to get below the max the handheld can convert. Any advice gratefully received Thanks supateach
I have a table in my Database that uses the feilds Location and partnum. I use a barcode scanner to generate each of these fields. The problem I am having is that when our part number is scanned it contains data such as "des--. 123456 --aa". I have been doing a find/replace on this data to remove the "des--." and "--aa" but I was wondering if access has a function to do this for me so that I can get a macro to check automatically for this type of problem. Any ideas?
