Added Fields To Table But Not Showing Up In Form Field List
Aug 3, 2005
I have a form based on a table and I just added 3 fields to the table. When I go to the form to add these fields, they do not show up in the field list. I've also tried creating a textbox and going to the Data Tab and choosing the data source but those 3 new fields are still not showing up.
How can I go about adding these 3 fields?
I have this table that I built a form from . I added some fields to the table, most of which are look up. I added those fields to the form. When I try to test the form those lookups show nothing.I used the lookup wizzard.I removed those fields and added new ones (same problem).I compared them to the ones that are working - they are identical.I changed the control source to one that is working - didn't work.
I'm an Access novice. I have a query based report that is based on several tables. All tables are joined by the same field "customer ID," but 1 table is not available under "Add Existing Fields." I cannot figure out why that table isn't available, but I need to add a field.
Okay so basically below is the table I'm linking to a list box, the field i'm focusing on is the 'Disallowed' field:
Now this is the form i'm linking it too:
As you can see the list box on the right is currently just showing the whole column under the Disallowed list, but I want it to show the specific country, obviously I'm using a single form template but the information changes depending on what country i'm on (I presume I need some kind of Query that uses whatever is shown in the Country box)
I was trying to use SELECT * from tblCountries where [Country]='"&forms!frmCountryDetail!Country&"'" but this is giving me an error from the [Country] tag so this isn't working:
My form was working fine but when I added an extra tab it started showing as completely blank in design view. When I deleted the tab I had added I still was left with the same problem!
I've attached an image of the form properties. I want to use the form to enter data so it needs to show even if there are no records.
I had read that it could be if there is no data but typing data in the tables hasn't worked either.
Using DAO recordset, table enters unbound fields data properly for desired records, but adds an extra record which is a duplicate of the first record entered....any known access quirks for adding unwanted records?
I am wondering if it is possible to automatically create a new field in one table whenever a new record is entered in another table. The name of the field would be the primary key entry of that new record.
I have one table (table 1) in which each record corresponds to a particular mouse with a unique ID number, and each field is the ID number of a particular genetic marker. The table overall shows what genotype (+ or -) a mouse has at each marker.
In the other table (table 2) the primary key of each record is the ID number of a genetic marker, and the fields are several different bits of information about the marker (e.g. what chromosome it's on, its location on the chomosome, etc.)
I would like to have it set up so that if I enter a new genetic marker in table 2 a field named after its marker ID will automatically appear in table 1. Is there a way to do this?
I have a table A in which I write down orders for cars. A record is an order. A single order may contain multiple cars in varying quantities. Each car has its components. Some cars may have some of their components common. There is a table B which indicates each car and its components required with their quantities required to build the car. There is a record for each different car.
Now suppose there is a new car we are going to produce so we need a new record in table B for the car and all its components. Also we need a new field in table A because people can now order the new car(in some quantity).
With form for table B we can introduce a new record. But how can we add a field in table A automatically after a record is added in table B?
I have a form that has a few combo boxes that I use as drop down lists that the user can choose from. After the form is completed, the user clicks "Submit" and the query/table is updated. However, 2 records are added instead of 1. The first record leaves the first field blank and every other field completed. The second record has every field filled out with the same info as the first. In other words, the first of the 2 records is unnecessary. How do I eliminate this from happening?
I have created a form off a query. I made the form for adding new records only. When i bring up the form it is blank, the labels and fields don't even show. Anyone know why this is?
This is my first post, but I've been lurking for sometime. I'm grateful for all the great advice given here; despite my efforts, I can't find anything directly related to what I'm doing, though.
I have a form that is populated from a query. The query has some calculated fields and some direct selection fields from a couple of tables. One of the direcly selected fields is one that I'm trying to populate from the items in a list box.
On this form, there are two list boxes, List1 and List2. The user makes selections in List1 and clicks a command button, which runs code so that the second list box is populated with the items from List1. This was shown here:
MS Article (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnofftalk/html/office03022000.asp)
I actually just used this code and made changes accordingly so that this feature is working perfectly. However, the items in List2 need to be updated into a table's field, and this is where I'm having the problem.
I've got List2 bound to the proper field in the query, and I can manually run that query and make changes in that field fine. What I can't figure out is why I can't get the ItemsData property of the List2 control in there. For ease of code, I've added a line that copies the List2 rowsource variable to another variable so that the values can be used elsewhere. I can't seem to get the field to receive the variable in VBA, and I can't figure out how to get the values back into the query so that the query's source table is updated.
Any clues? Or is this unclear? I'm happy to give any further information. I've been working on this for more than a week, trying different things, and I'm at wits' end.
I have a database created in Access 2003 about six years ago. I’m the sole user of the Application, which I use to keep track of my personal assignments and to quickly access other resources. A search form was added and tweaked over time until it contained the features I desired. The search form uses a subform to display a list of records, with the ability to click a record‘s "Edit" field to open and update that record.
In about March 2014 we upgraded from Office 2003 using Windows XP to Office 2010 using Windows 7. All users on other Applications that I’d designed and support experienced missing Reference issues, but those were resolved rather quickly. I'd been off work intermittently for about six weeks between April and July and gradually started noticing other issues with my personal assignments tracker that I did not immediately associate with the upgrade. Early on, I noticed that I could no longer delete or rename database objects on several of the databases that I'd designed and support. Eventually, I also noticed that I was unable to create new records and received SaveRecord error messages associated with the subform. I'd encountered SaveRecord issues before and went through previous steps to resolve, but to no avail. Eventually, I came to the conclusion, right or wrong, that all of my recent issues were associated with the upgrade.
I found through online research that my loss of ability to delete or rename Objects was possibly due to the loss of Object Owership and Permissions, which was associated with my Security Workgroup. I confirmed that Ownerships and Permissions had been lost and was unwilling to recreate the database, just yet. No user of other Applications that I support reported any problem creating new records.
I know now that new Access doesn’t have the Security menu item that allows Workgroup creation and joining. After months of online research and trial and error, I was directed to Microsoft Knowledgebase Article 918583, which provided VBA code that allowed me to Run the Workgroup Administrator to rejoin my previously established Workgroup.
After rejoining my Workgroup, everything seemed to return to normal. I could delete and rename records and was able to create new records. After a few days, I noticed that new records were not being displayed in the search form right away. I confirmed that the records were being added to the main table, but still not available in the search form, queries, or reports until after an additional record had been added. In other words, for example, in order to view record 1, a record 2 would have to be added. In order to view record 2, a record 3 would have to be added, and so on. This makes it very tedious to enter new assignments.
I believe the present issue is greater than my search form, because the newest record is not only not available in the search form, but not available in any other form, query, or report. I have no clue where to start.
I am trying to automatically update one table to another each time a new record is added to my form, I have tried using the Update and the Append Query is there another way to do this without using code?
My database only has one table of data so it's not complicated.I would like to create a form that can create customisable Excel exports of the data based on set conditions and exporting only select fields. URL...I have one table of data (tblCustomers) which contains all of the fields in the box above.
I would like export the data from the table to excel showing only the fields that are ticked in the box (frmCustomReport). The check boxes are named chk then whatever the field name is eg. chkLocation, chkStatus. The labels are the names of the fields in tblCustomers. Is there a way to do this in SQL or VBA?
Table 1: contains staff names and contact numbers Table 2: contains training above staff have been on or need to go on Table 3: contains pc and printer asset numbers of above staff
I used a form and entered some new members of staff in table 1. They got their auto numbers etc but when I open table 2 and table 3 those new members are not showing up in those tables. I have checked the relationship status between the 3 tables and the staffID from Table 1 is associated to table 2 and to table 3.
What's stopping the new entries from showing up in tables 2 and 3 ?
I have got this form, consisting of 1 form (that needs to add a new record to a table everytime) and 1 subform, that needs to show the last three records of the table.
My problem is that I cannot get it right, now both forms (form and subform) are showing the details on just one record. If I open my subform it shows me all the records of a table, but in as soon as I view the form as a subform I shows me only one record.
Any help is welcome, I attached my db, just in case....
I have a table called welding, I want to create a user friendly form for input. The database ultimately wants to go on share point so I am building it in the web database option.
One of the fields is called location, if the location is 'Field' I want 10 more fields to appear for data entry such as weld reason, rail temperature etc . If the location is 'Depot' I want these fields to be hidden as they aren't relevant.how would I do this?
I am looking for Idea's of how to create a report.
Basically the report is a league table showing Month and YTD, this is the easy bit.
The part I need suggestions and guidance on:
The report also needs to show peoples movements in the league table i.e: whether they have moved up, down or not moved at all from the previous months position.
I was thinking of creating 2 tables: Current Month + Previous Month, in each table the persons position is indicated (an ascending record number is created throughout the table - not sure how to do this yet)
Then using code, lookup each persons position in previous month and write that position number against the persons UID and current position in current months table.
Am I on the right tracks or does someone have an easier solution?
The subject is probably confusing but I'll try to explain. Setup:
Table1 FieldID = Number FieldName = Text
Table2 FieldID = Number FieldName = Text T1_ID = Number
Relationship Table1.FieldID 1-> * Table2.T1_ID (one to many)
Now, I'm trying to create a 3rd table that has field populated by Table1 and a field populated by Table2 but I want to limit the field populated by table2 by what is selected in the field populated by table1. Table1:
If Table1Field = 1st then Table2Field Will only allow January, February, or March as selections, since ONLY they are a member of the "1sr" group via the table1 list.
Is this possible, or do i have to do some run-time checking or something? Thanks Jaeden "Sifo Dyas" al'Raec Ruiner
I have a form field with a date in it, is there any way I can make the value in that field display one thing, but still run a query based on the original text?
for example: txtDate is 1/1/1000 if txtDate = 1/1/1000 then display = "*"
but the query still runs on 1/1/1000
I am asking this because I am trying to run a between statement for a date range and the only way I can do the entire range of dates on my table is to use the highest and lowest date possible (1/1/1000 and 1/1/3000) but I only want the users to see "*" so they are not confused.
I am creating a repayment schedule (as a report) and I want to display a series of fields as a column which return (show) a date one month after the date in the field above.
The first repayment date field (Line 1) will show a date one month after the loan was paid out. the Next field below will show the date one month later.
I can't simply insert the "Date + 30" because that would get out of since over the year. If the loan was issued on say the 15th of January, I need the first field to display 15th February and the next would be .... 15th March.... Yes - You've got it!
Now I could do that in Excel, but I don't know how to get Access to do it.
I have come up with another one that may be easy for you.
I have a form that has a list box with two fields in the table. Call the table: STATE TABLE1 Call the first field: STATE NUMBER 1 Call the next field: STATE NAME 1
When I access the list box on the form, I have it so I can see the States Name(STATE NAME1) and I click on it and the (STATE NUMBER 1) is place in another table called: INVENTORY2 in the STATE#2 field. That works all well and good.
I would like to be able to continue this, at the same time I select the (STATE NAME 1) on the list box. I also want to place (STATE NAME 1) into the INVENTORY2 TABLE in another field call (STATE NAME2)
I was going to write an expression to do this but had trouble with finding the STATE NAME 1 field.
I am sure there is an easier way.
PS This table is being used in another application and there is no way to modify any of its field at the time of the transfer. All the fields need to be populated at the time of the transfer.
