Assign Employees To Task Then Remove Employee From List Of Available For Other Tasks

May 6, 2015

I need the ability to assign employees to a different task in each of four different timeslots on a daily basis. What I would like to do is as I assign an employee to a task in timeframe 1, I would like for them to become unavailable to assign to another task in the same timeframe.

For Example: Three employees to assign to three tasks at the 8 AM to 10 AM time slot.

Employee
Task
Time
Assigned

Emp 1, Emp 2, Emp 3
Task 1
8 AM to 10 AM
Emp 2-Task 1

Emp 1, Emp 3
Task 2
8 AM to 10 AM
Emp 3-Task 2

Emp1
Task 3
8 AM to 10 AM
Emp1-Task 3

It would be nice to set this up in a form where my person doing the scheduling can assign an individual to a task and that individual name disappears from the combo boxes, list boxes, or is "greyed-out" in a listing of employees available for the time period for the remaining assignments.

Queries :: Task List Max Tasks And Max Hours

Jun 14, 2014

I would like to make an action list based on tasks. I try to make a query that does the following things:

-Taken.Priority=1
-show maxium 5 tasks sorted on make date(taken.ingevoerd)
-OR with a total duration of maxium 480 minutes (Taken.[Geschatte duur (min))

The last one is to hard for me to make. For example if the duration of 4 tasks is 420 minutes, the fifth task (100 min) should not be shown, because the criteria of maximum amout of minutes is reached. This is what I have made so far:

SELECT DISTINCT TOP 5 Taken.ID, Taken.Omschrijving, Taken.Ingevoerd, Taken.Deadline, Taken.Priority, Taken.[Geschatte duur (min)]
FROM Taken
GROUP BY Taken.ID, Taken.Omschrijving, Taken.Ingevoerd, Taken.Deadline, Taken.Priority, Taken.[Geschatte duur (min)]
HAVING (((Taken.Priority)=1))
ORDER BY Taken.Ingevoerd DESC;

Modules & VBA :: Assign Outlook Task Item Loop

May 29, 2015

I have a query that formats data into a list of personnel who are coming due for refresher training. The query is formatted to provide me all the details that I need to create an outlook task, and assign it to the person. I tried creating a button on my form to create a record set of that query, and then create / assign a task to each person based on the values from the recordset.

Code:
Private Sub SendTasks_Button_Click()
'Create the recordset and set it to the appropriate query
Dim rst As DAO.Database
Dim rstData As DAO.Recordset
Set rst = CurrentDb
Set rstData = rst.OpenRecordset("SendTasks_qry")

[Code] .....

Basically, the compiler stops at "Dim myOlApp As New Outlook.Application" with the error: "Compile error: User-defined type not defined"

Create Monthly Table Based On Employee List

Dec 26, 2006

Greetings all!!!

I have a database containing a table of employees and their rank. I want to record monthly details regarding these people: hours, performance, etc. Their rank can change dynamically from month to month. They may be a Supervisor for a month, and I want to change this value on a monthly basis. But I want to generate a Table which shows all employees belonging to each of the eight departments, but which has empty fields enabling me to record these monthly values. I then want to be able to pull up that data at any time to see these values for any given month in the past. I also want to add the values of each field and total them for the various departments providing monthly and yearly values on a departmental and organizational (grand total) level.

The employee names and their respective departments rarely change. I don't want to have to select their names (about 125 of them) every month to create a new blank form in which to put the monthly data. I want to have perhaps a button which creates the records and puts the names in for (1) department, (2) year, and (3) month, but that adds the fixed fields ready to put the data in. This data is required every month and the field names will never change. I'm sure the solution is programmatically simple, but I seem to have a mental block over the issue.

I hope that someone casts some light on this.

Do I use a Create Table query? (The data can remain in one table.) I would like to do it programmatically. My VB is pretty good, but, it seems, not good enough.

Use List Box To Assign Multiple Values To Records?

Jan 12, 2005

I hope the title actually conveys what I'd like to do.

I want to assign records on a subform to a group header on a form. For example, I have groups A, B, C, and D and I want the records on a subform to be assigned to groups A, B, and D. (The number of groups and their names will change so I can't simply use an "A," "B," "C" option box.) My idea is to have a Multi-Select List Box on the main form and choose all the groups to which the records on the subform need to belong. So I'd select the groups, enter the records on the subform, then create a another record on the master form and assign records to another group.

Is it possible to make this happen without a lot of programming?

General :: Click On List Lookup Employee / Select ID And Then Form Will Fill In Rest

Nov 6, 2012

I have a form, "Update Employee Information" that allows me to navigate through records and change data like name, adress, etc. I would like to know how to create list (or autofill) so that it won't take long before finding an employee. For example: I have a Employee ID and would like to search on that so the form can fill in the rest of my information. I have thought of two methods that I like:

(1) Click on a list "Lookup Employee", select ID and then the form will fill in the rest

(2) Without clicking a link, typing in the ID in the form and the rest of the data gets filled in.

Assign Query Output To Multi Select List Box

May 10, 2005

Morning - I have been searching a bit but to no avail. I have a query (qryTopTenList) set up in a database that selects the Top Ten "Classes" from a table with a key field of "insclass".

I have a multi select list box (LstInsClass) that allows end users to select multiple insurance classes. What I would like to do is set up a standard button that when clicked, will loop through all of the insclass in the query "qryTopTenList" and then select those same insurance classes in my multi select list box. So the end result is that 10 records in the List Box would be selected.

This is helpful b/c it prevents the need to go through the entire list box to select the top ten classes.

Thx in advance for any insight. I appreciate it.

Add/Remove Records From A List

Jun 2, 2006

(Been a while since I had a question.) I have a table that stores a list of paper forms. the fields are ID#, display name, doccument name, and a code to determine if its a Word or Excel doccument, or an access report. Works fine; the user can click a form name (on the Forms/Reports tab on the main menu form) in a list box, set the # of copies and print the form. There are cases when a group of forms is needed (client admission is one). I have made a group table containing: GrpID, Grp Name, formID. I would like my "Form Group Edit" form to have 2 list boxes; the left one containing the (short) list of available forms; the right one displaying what forms are already (if any) in the selected form group. My idea is to have add/remove controls to manage the right list. I know this "wheel" is already invented and would like to plagerize one that works. Thanks in advance for your help.

Remove Selection From List Box

Nov 18, 2004

I have an unbound list box that gets its data from a query. I have a button that grabs the selected item(s) from the list box and puts them in a text box. The code for the button is:
Dim nsrow
Dim mystring
Me.List40.SetFocus
If Me.List40.ItemsSelected.Count > 0 Then
For Each nsrow In Me.List40.ItemsSelected
mystring = mystring & Me.List40.Column(2, nsrow) & ", "
Next nsrow
End If
If Right(mystring, 2) = ", " Then
mystring = Left(mystring, Len(mystring) - 2)
Else
End If
DESC = mystring

How do I make it so that when the item is selected and is in the text box, it prevents the user from clicking that same item again from the list box? The best way I think is to remove the item from the List box once it's in the text box but I don't know the code to do it.

Please Help!

Now let's say a certain customer is no longer my customer, so I want to remove him from the customer-list. But, I want to move him to a different list - past-customers - so all the information that was related to that customer will remain so. In short, I want to remove from the customer-list without affecting the related data.

Too Many Client Tasks

May 4, 2005

Hi,
we use access for localisation in our application. The business object which accessess the access uses DAO connectivity and we often land to
"Too many client tasks" problem.

is it wise to change the DAO to ADO? if so the above problem will go off?
what are the chances that the problem still persists?

is that access has any limits on the number of connections? like 64, 255? or is that ADO/DAO has any limitaions on the number of concurrent connections to access DB?

Pls help, your help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Venkat.

Selecting Open Tasks In A Timetracker

Feb 20, 2007

The timetracker that I am building stores the history of the task in multiple rows. Here's a simplified view.

Task ID | Assignor ID | Assignee ID | Description | Status
1 | 5 | 10 | I could not make this change. Please try at your end | assigned
1 | 10 | 2 | I made this change. Please check it. | resolved
1 | 2 | 10 | Please make a few modifications. | assigned
1 | 10 | 2 | Done. | resolved
1 | 10 | 10 | Cool. You're in for a raise! | closed

If i want to select task histories of tasks which are not closed, i.e. the status in the last record is not set to closed, how would i go about doing it? As of now I am doing this through code, where I cycle through the recordset and skip displaying the rows if the task has been closed. But I'm sure there's an easier way of doing this.

Any help will be appreciated.

say we look back for jobs in the month in feburary
Date Added; Date Completed ; category
11/1 ; NIL ; Outstanding
11/1 ; 1/3 ; Outstanding
11/1 ; 14/2 ; Completed
1/2 ; NIL ; Outstanding

Tables :: Predefined Table Of Tasks Against A Case?

Aug 5, 2015

I'm creating a fairly basic case management system in Access 2007 and i'm wanting a way of populating a set of tasks when a case is created...

e.g.

I have a case table, which contains basic information about the case, case manager, ID, date created etc.

I've also got a task table with a list of tasks

When i create a new case I want it to pull in the list of tasks from the task table, the tasks are static so i wouldnt want them to update the task table but update progress on the tasks against the case.

Do i need another table for like casetasks where it populates the blank tasks and then they're updated with an ID linked back to the Case.

Modules & VBA :: Scheduling System That Automates Some Redundant Tasks - Expanding Subforms?

Jul 28, 2014

I'm working on a scheduling system for my fathers company that automates some redundant tasks. Most importantly the system manages the order of processes on different parts (ie, part "tubes" may be cut, then drilled, then welded, then shipped).

I'm trying to create a form that allows for the editing and viewing of all the parts and the processes for each part for a specific work Order. Ideally the information that applies to all the parts (Work order Number, due date etc) would appear at the top of the form with all of the processes to appear beneath (Separated into groups - all the parts to be welded shown together). My problem with using sub forms for this was that I need all the records to be shown without scrolling. Is there a way to dynamically change the size of each Subform to match the required size, or is there a better feature to use?

Problem is that it's grouping by day and each one is different because all times are different. How do I group these by day and not time?

Employees

May 7, 2007

Hi ya, the database that I'm working on has many employees for example 2 directors, 6 managers, 22 tutors (there are different types of tutors permanant temporary etc), 4 finance managers etc etc when you click on one of the employee type it expands and shows how many employee are under that section and their details etc, like when i click on director, there is this + sign beside it and when I click on it, it expands and shows me info on all the directors only.. How would I get that?? Do I have to make a seperate table for named employee type?? but then how would I add a relationship to it between employee and employee type?? how would I go about doing that...

Also I need to know how to do it since I need to use queries lateron which will only be about tutors and the courses they teach, and since there are many different types of tutors I'm kinda lost... Thank you for your help in advance!

Test For New Employees

Jul 26, 2007

Hi Folks!

I've been asked to make a 5 questions test to evaluation potential new employees' knowledge of MS-Access. Honestly, I need your input on what to ask. The goal is not to make a very hard test, but rather to see if somebody as at least basic knowledge of SQL and Ms-Access.

Some background information of what we do with MS-Access
We use MS-Access as a central hub for different download from different systems. We make a lot of daily imports. We export queries in Ms-Excel. We open it from Access and format the report. We make hundreds of reports every day. We don't really use forms or reports.

What questions to ask?
I was thinking of having 2 questions about SQL. One simple query with a formula, and a query with 2 tables (perhaps a left join). On what should my other questions be?
