AuditTrail Not Working On Sub Forms?
Dec 19, 2014
I use the following module to run an audit trail on my database, which is then linked on to the form by using the following code on the BeforeUpdate property of the form. This works perfectly on the form itself - and in tabs - until I am using a subform. How can I get the module to work without having to name each subform (this form uses 3 SFs!)?
Code:
Sub PropertyAuditChanges(IDField As String)
On Error GoTo PropertyAuditChanges_Err
Dim cnn As ADODB.Connection
Dim rst As ADODB.Recordset
Dim ctl As Control
Dim datTimeCheck As Date
Dim strUserID As String
Set cnn = CurrentProject.Connection
[code]....

I have a form "NewMetalF" that has three combo boxes. The first one is used to choose "Precious Metal" or "Base Metal". The second one shows all the metals based on the first combo box. When I open the form in form view alone the combo boxes work flawlessly. I run the form "NewMetalF" within another form "NewExternalPartF" by clicking a button "AddMetal". When the button is clicked "NewMetalF" opens. The first combo box is selected, and when the second combo box is clicked the error "Enter Paramater Value" "Forms!NewMetalF!cboPreciousOrBase".

Hi guys,
I'm trying to create a simlpe database that is use to store time worked for clients (see attached).
If you run the form frmClientEntry i have two issues.
1 - you will see that the title is automatically selected from the combo box. However is i try and enter the form I'm told 'You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table 'tblTitle'. If I select one of the entries I get rid of this. I would like the default to be selected...
2 - There is no entry in the hourly rate column field even though there is an entry in the table. How do I get my hourly rate to show? Ideally this will only be a single text box and not a comboBox as the hourly rate will be the same for every client.
If this is a table design issue please let me know and I'll post there.
Thanks

I recently upgraded to Access 2007 from 2003. The upgrade was in June and went smoothly. I added a couple of drop down boxes to my form in August and that seemed to have gone fine as well. Suddenly, at least two weeks later, my form buttons are not working. I added the pathway to my database to the list of trusted locations. Everything I have read says this should work. This did not make a difference. I am able to edit forms, run queries and reports, and can add new records by entering data directly into tables but am not able to add new records, view details, close forms, or exit using my buttons/forms.

I have a form ("Contacts Form") that I use with a few subforms on it. One of the subforms is "sbfrmCompanys" that has information on the contacts company. One of the fields in sbfrmCompanys is "Organization." Users used to be able to use the "find" feature to search for an organization's record, however the "find" feature suddenly stopped working. Now, when a user searches for an organization that I KNOW is in the company table, a dialogue box appears that says Access has finished searching and no records were retrieved. This cannot be so because I know for a fact the particular value I am searching for is in the table.

I have a form where the control source of several text box fields includes a function that looks up values in a table that is not the form's record source. The default value in the property for these fields is set to 0. Unfortunately, when I migrate to a new record, these fields display the dreaded #Error. It should be noted that these fields are for display only and are not even in the form's underlying table. Here is an example of the control source for one of the fields:
Code:
=GetFYSummary("Budget",[ProjectID],0,0,"PPE","frm_ProjectFinancials")
Here is the start of the code for the function:
Code:
Public Function GetFYSummary(strField As String, lngProjectID As Long, lngFYYear As Long, intPeriod As Integer, _
strWBSType As String, strSource As String) As Long
[code]...
I'm trying to cover my bases to ensure that the displayed value of the field shows 0 rather than #Error.I even tried including a breakpoint at the first line of code in the function and it is never even triggered when I move to a new record. As soon as I type the first letter/number in a field that is tied to the form's record source, all of these display values do change to 0 appropriately.

With a many to many relationship using a junction table, do I have to manually plug in the ID numbers from the related tables in the junction table for it to recognize the related data? It sounds silly and obvious I guess that you would have to, but when I go to create a form based on a many to many relationship, I would like the ability to enter data without having to enter the related ID numbers in multiple places on the form or subforms to make it work. I guess I envisioned access using auto numbers to automatically update the junction when I wanted to add data related between the "main" table and the distant table joined with a junction. Can this be fixed using a Parent/Child relationship set-up in some fashion?

I have a specific question on the datediff function.
My example is =DateDiff("d",[Policy Issue Date],Date()) where [Policy Issue Date] is the inception date of an Insurance Policy.
I need to determine how many days the policy has been inforce. The formula works great in a query and I can see the number of days in that field when the query is run.
However, my dilemma is I want the same function to run off of a text box using its control source property and have the number of days calculate and be visible for each record on the form. This part is not working and the field is returning the #Error? message.

When I select a row on a split form I would like the up and down arrow keys to move to the previous and next record. However this isn't happening.
When I select a row and press the down arrow nothing happens.
I have the navigation buttons set to no because of the issues I'm having with them.
How to get the up/down arrow keys to work on a split form??

I am trying to created an IIF statement in a field I have in a form.
I have entered the following statement but it keeps coming up with the following error and I cannot see where I am going wrong.
The expression you entered contains invalid syntax, or you need to enclose your text data in quotes
=IIf([RenewalInstallment]=0,(12-[MFAccepted])*[CurrentAnnualPremium]/12)*(1-[DiscountAccepted]/100),IIf RenewalInstallment]<>0,(12-[MFAccepted])*[RenewalAnnualPremium]/12)*(1-[DiscountAccepted]/100)
If I enter the first part of the If statement i.e.
=IIf([RenewalInstallment]=0,(12-[MFAccepted])*[CurrentAnnualPremium]/12)*(1-[DiscountAccepted]/100)
The field calculates correctly however there seems to be something wrong with the nested if.

I am working on setting up a loop that will get information from a query. I can handle the rest of the code once I get the primary piece of information. Which at this point I can not get. I am trying to get to the next record of my query. For some reason I am stuck on just the first record and it is repeated the exact number of times equal to the number of records in the query. Here is what I have so far.
Code:
Dim FSO As Object
Dim FromPath As String
Dim FromPathCheck As String
Dim ToPath As String
Dim FinalDestination As String
[Code]....
Yes I do know that I am doubled up on the
Code:
rs.MoveNext
The reason is because with out this added rs it goes into an infinite loop. Need generating each value in the TRNumber field in the query.

I have an IIF function specified on a continuous sub-form as below - basically it checks to see if the value of two text boxes is equal, and if they are it displays 'And', if not it displays the value of the column EntitlementName. I'm trying to work around grouping not working in continuous forms.
When I view the form directly it works no problems but when I view the form as a sub-form instead of showing the correct output it shows #Name? Both the text boxes I refer to have the correct values in them.
=IIF([txtPrevValue]=[txtValue], Format("And"),Format([EntitlementName])

I have a bound form to an invoices table. The form details all invoices raised, all payments made and an outstanding balance. The outstanding balance control is just a basic text box.
On form load, I go to the payment table and select all payments into a recordset, I then add up all payments and use the following calculation:-
Balance = InvTotal - paytotal
The Invtotal is the control on the form that has it's control source set as sum(invoicetotal)
The calculation used to work and the correct balance was displayed, indeed, for one particular client, the calculation works, but for all others, the summed value is blank and so the balance is effectively set to the paytotal value.
I know this is to do with the timing as the form loads and it's records/data are made available, as I have an update button that does exactly the same things as the form load and when pressed, all numbers work.....primarily because the summed invoicetotal value is now available in the form control.
I can see what is happening, but not sure why...I thought that form load gave you all records and would have populated the summed control before triggering the load event....obviously not.....

I recently created a database to be used to store incoming invoices. We have 4 suppliers which supply the same material and wanted each supplier to have its own database.
I began by making a database which included all the key tables, forms, queries and functions I would need to then save 4 copies, one for each supplier. This just meant I would not have to repeat the process for each individual supplier.
The problem is all my data is external and upon importing it into the database it has made the search function (combo box) not return results.
I believe this is because:
1) The form was created before the records existed
2) The records were imported from an external source and not created using the form.
However, the way I have designed the form is so I can see all relevant information linked with a specific invoice. This aids in gathering information quickly about an invoice but also so I can input credit note and invoice query information linked to a specific invoice on the same page.
Is there anyway to remedy this?
Or use a similar search function that returns records in my form "Main View"
The last thing I want to do is have to create the form again, although I don't think this will work either as reason 2) states.

I'm using a split form with the datasheet on the left.
When I use the 'Find' in the Navigation buttons at the bottom of the form, it refuse to find text in a particular text box.
The text box is a memo field and is enabled.
Example:
I have text in the memo field which is a title of an episode - "The Outcast."
When I start typing "the" it finds this text in the memo field. But when I type the entire title it the finds the text in another field. ie "out."
I've tried the 3 different Search setting in options. When I use the Find command from the ribbon it work ok as long as I select the text box to search in first.
