I have created a split db for my father and his little business. Sometimes he asks me to make changes. I want to be able to email him the new front end, and when clicked, the file will install the new front end to the correct location along with any folders containing updated informatio (Images, Tables, etc)
I am running an Access 97 database with the backend on the server and client databases on about 2 workstations. I also have a working model of the frontend on the server that I often update. I then have to go around to each workstation and manually install the new front end from the server. I am looking for an application built in Access 97 that I can apply before the client database opens, it checks the client on the server and if a newer version is available, it copies it to the workstation. Once copied, it then proceeds to open the new front end on the workstation. Tony Towes has an excellent application on the Granite website but I cant use it because it contains a VB programme that I cannot import onto our network (security restrictions).
Grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.
I was looking at Bob Larson's utility posted here (http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=111132) and I have a question. Maybe I'm being dense (I probably am) but the loading page on my form looks like this:
I am new to using access and have customized a project management database for a friend's company. I need a way to auto relink the front end and back end databases when moved in the same folder. I am currently using Access 2013 and have already tried using the code on this site: [URL]...... Does this code not work for Access 2013 or am I adding it incorrectly.
I have a text box on a form with the Control Source set to: =Pi() It's giving me a #Name? error, as is Control Source: =Radians(34) Seeing this note in the help file related to Pi() ... Some functions display the error #NAME? instead of a value. Some of the spreadsheet functions are provided through a separate dynamic link library file, Msowcf.dll. If this file is missing, the functions display the #NAME? error value when you open the spreadsheet in your browser. Search for Msowcf.dll on your computer, and if it's missing, either reinstall Microsoft Office 2000 or contact your system administrator.I searched my computer for Msowcf.dll and found it installed in: C:Program FilesMicrosoft Access RuntimOffice10 C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10
I'm using Office 2000 on this computer (Front Page 2002).
I have a genuine Microsoft CDs and keys, one with Office 97 Small Business Edition, and the other with Access 97 (these are both the full version, NOT upgrades). As I got new machines over the years (both Windows 98 and Windows XP SP 2), I installed the software from both CDs without incident a number of times on on each of those machines. I now have a new Lenovo T60 laptop (again with Win XP SP 2, 1 GB of RAM, and over 100 GB of free disk space).
Word, Excel and Outlook from the Office 97 SBE CD installed normally and run normally, except that I had to rename two Registry keys to get past an error message during installation saying that htmlmarq.ocx could not register itself (see http://forum.theispguide.com/isp-ftopic2753.html). When I went to install Access on the new machine, it kept prompting me to either point it to the folder where the "qualifiying product" was installed, or to insert that product's CD, before it would let me proceed with the "upgrade" - all this despite the fact that this is definitely a full product CD, and NOT an upgrade version. I went round and round with this a number of times, and eventually got past this series of screens (I don't remember how I did it, I was just so relieved to have circumvented the problem).
The balance of the installation appeared to complete normally. However, when I try to launch Access, I get an out of memory error, even immediately after a re-boot and with no other applications running. Does anyone have any ideas about how to resolve this?
I know its possible to have 2 different versions of Access installed, and that you have to uninstall then start in with the earliest version. BUT can I have 3 different versions? I think it should be no problem but thought I would ask first. I am looking at 97, 2000, and 2003. Plan is to do just Access 97, 2000, and then the full office install of 2003.
Recently I copied a database to another machine at a client. First problem, the open report command canceled, then thining I had a code problem I tried to open the report from the menu. It will not open or allow me to go into design mode, althouh forms and queries will NO reports will allow this. The when I try to open the forms in design mode they crap out with a msacces.exe aborted mesage.
This database works on 53 other macines so it has to be something paculiar to this particular machine. I have tried a complete unisnstall and install twice to no avail.
I'm setting up a DB for my wife's machine shop. She has Windows 2000 (for accounting purposes) and her assistant has XP. I have 2000 at home so I installed Access 2003 on my computer, created the database, table, query, macro, and switchboard, and it works great. Problem? Apparently, I cannot use the same product key more than twice. I installed it on my wife's machine, but couldn't activate it on her assistant's machine.Microsoft says this is in the end user license agreement, and I'll have to take their word for it cuz I didn't read it.
My question: Is there some sort of workaround for this? If I deactivate it/uninstall it on my machine will that help? I don't need it now that the db is set up anyway. I just need to get it activated on the 3rd (assistant's) machine ASAP.
I am reading this forum for a while now and I learned here almost everything I know. But, now i am having problem and I really don't know how to solve it. I am trying to test some little program which I made fo my company. It is Access 2000 database and I made it with Access 2003. Everything is working 100% in Access 2003. BUT, problem is that this database will be run on several mashines in two of our companies and in that other company they have a lot of computers with Win98 installed. I have Access 2003 Developer and I managed to make deployment for computers in my resident company, but, as you probably know, Access 2003 is not working on Win98 computers.
So, I tried to install Access 2000 Runtime on those computers and I am still trying because stupid installation won't finish! It just stops when it comes almost to the end of instalation and nothing happens. I tried to wait for some time but instalation is dead. I also tried to make clean instalation of Win98, but nothing changed. There is no Access on those computers of any kind.
I tried to search forum for solution, but I didn't find it.
Hello, Is it possible to install two versions of MS Access on the same O.S. I already have Access97 installed. Now I want to install access 2003 without it up removing my previous access 97. If it removes/upgardes access 97 to access 2003 I will not be able to open my access 97 database. Is this possible? and if so how?
I use Access 2003 and Access developer extensions for packaging the software(operating system is Windows 2000)..everytime I upgrade my software, the users need to uninstall it from their computer and then install my new version.. Is it possible to automate this process so that users click a button on the application and uninstall and install is taken care?
I know I can run a batch file using shell command...but can I create a bat file to uninstall and install? Now, users goto add/remove programs and remove their current version before they install new version.
I had some work done on my Database a few weeks ago and it works great.
I just got an email from the guy who did the work and he wants me to pay him more money....he said he forgot to bill me for 6 hours.
I told him I didn't think that was fair and wasn't really willing to pay for more hours....he then said he never sent the "non-expiry" versions of the databases.....he also said I have 15 days left until they expire.
Considering I done additional work on them I was wondering if this is possible?
Bruce
P.S. I hate being taken advantage of.....he was really good to work with but now he's trying to rob me.
I recently started using the Chart feature in access. Everytime the form with the graph loads up windows installer pops up and asks me to install. Since i let it install like 3 times, i click cancel and it still works fine. Anyone else have a problem like this? How can i prevent it from installing everything, since its already installed?

In have a db that was created with Access 2003. I recently installed Access 2007 and kept the old version as well. However, when I try to work with the db in Access 2003, I am getting all kinds of errors. When I run the same db in a machine installed only with Access 2003, it runs fine. I am thinking that it might be the reference library. Can anyone help. If it is the reference library, how can I revert back to the old reference library.
Environment WInXP Pro SP1, MS Access 2003, existing access project that fires on another PC with similar setup.
Just installed MS Access 2003 to my own PC. When I try and open an existing project am being informed I need to upgrade jet 4.0 to service pack 8. When I try and install jet SP8 windows is telling me I already have a later version
WindowsNT 4.0 Service Pack 6 error in access runtime install I have an access runtime install package that has worked numerous times installing on XP Home. It was built using Office XP developer's packaging wizard.
I tried installing it on a brand new PC running XP Home but it generates the error: Visual Basic 6.0 Setup Toolkit The office system pack cannot be installed on this system because it requires Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6 or later.
Have been testing installation of Office XP Developer Access 2002 runtime package created using the package wizard on a WinXP Pro SP2 machine, for installation on a Vista RC2 5840 machine.
After installing the latest necessary updates such as Office XP Developer SP1 among others which were essential to remove the Path/File error I had, A new error displayed itself as soon as the runtime install package launched.
------------------------------------------------------------------- Visual Basic 6.0 Setup Toolkit (Error Window Title Bar)
The Office System Pack cannot be installed on this system because it requires Windows NT Service Pack 6 or later. -------------------------------------------------------------------
I assume Windows NT SP6 has no relevance to Vista ???
Maybe some other update will help here. I have googled for hours to no avail.
we use access database for printing lab reports. and a small graph is also printed on this report from another software(not an access application).
what i have done is that first we print the txt report from access and then use the same paper to print graph on it. I have alligned the report in such a way that these two reports fit perfectly.
we have to print twice and sometimes the graph is deleted in the other application, so we have to make the graph again.
what i want to do is: 1) prepare graph in the other application. 2) take a screenshot of it. 3) save this as an image file (jpg or bmp) 4) reference this picture in the access application and print it with the report.
So the problems are: 1) when i take a screenshot, how do i save it as a file, 2) how do i just get the area of the graph and remove all extra space. (usually all the other space is white as background)
Hi all! I was wondering if you guys can help me out with this one:
I would like to have data auto-inserted from a particular colum in table 'x' in to a defined column in table 'y'. similary, I'd like to achieve auto-updation of this data as well as deletion. Can anyone please provide some guidelines?
A little more detail :
I have a column "Client ID" in the table client_personal_info, the rows of which I'd like to have updated in the "Client ID" column in the client_business_detail table.
So if say, ClientID_1 is a row that has been added by the user, I'd like to have it auto-inserted in the client ID column in the client_business_detail table
Access 2010 keeps changing the Capitalization of objects when I don't want it to.
For example "Cancel" becomes "cancel". Later it will be changed back to "Cancel".
There is also a table with a field "FULLNAME". Several Queries build a field "FullName". As a result FullName, even in places like Application. CodeProject.FullName get changed to Application.CodeProject.FULLNAME.
(Track Name AutoCorrect is off. ) It is especially irritating because I export the code to text files and check it into source control. Sometimes dozens, or even hundreds, of files will show up as changed because Access did it's rename thing.
Hello i want to use as a front end as i can create better forms etc... i want the end user to enter information into a form in Flash and then it automatically updates the access back end? is there a simple way of doing this??
I have read every post here on "distribution" and "deploying" the front end to the users but can't seem to get how to do it. I see many posts regarding updating the front end and using the runtime version to distribute but can't seem to understand how to initially get the database out to my users.
I have a split db and need to distribute it to about 20+ people. The back end will reside on a shared drive that is mapped the same on everyone's machine. I also have the FE on the same drive and am currently using a batch file run from a link on our website to open it, therefore we are all using the same front end which is what I am trying to eliminate.
Can I just zip up my FE and email it to my users? Will that maintain the links to the back end when they unzip it to their desktop?
Also, I would like to get some feedback on some software I am thinking of buying for pushing out my updated databases in the future. It is called Access Frontend Loader http://www.frontend-loader.com/
Has anyone used this before? Would appreciate any thoughts on it or any other program you may have used in the past.
