I have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?
I have a form where sales can be entered. Whenever a [salesdate] is entered, I would like the [status] to automatically change to "Sold". How can I go about doing this?
i have a table with a column that reflects the below info, need to work out something for access to keep a count on the numbers of fields, have tried using conditional "count" in queries, the resultant value return is 12, this count omits counting all the "1", which is not i wanted, how do i tell access to start counting from the most recent "1" onward, and in this case the correct count value should return as "5", meaning there are 5 fields being entered after the most recent "1".
Hi, I have a form which is made up for 3 tables and I am trying to create an append query for each one in order to keep records of data before it is updated. The append queries seem to work but they append all data rather than just one selected record. I know I will next need to create a macro which can be used each time a record has been updated and a copy is sent to the archive. Can anyone help me with this, or have any useful suggestions?
This works but the problem i have is, when i add an entry via a form or do anything else via a form. This does not get updated?. I check the properties of the table and that isn't either.
When i then modify something manually in the table (go in and change it). It then updates.
Is there something im doing wrong or is there a better way to check the last updated.
My office workstation took a very long time to connect to database in Access 2003 after upgrading to Windows XP, a few minutes need to be taken just to open a simple form which normally takes less than 10 seconds. In simple words, whenever it has to retrieve data from the db, it will be super lagging .
The rest of the workstations running on Windows 2000 were running perfectly fine.
The database is located on the host pc, which is running Windows 2000.
Initially we suspected that it might be because of the insufficient RAM. Thus it was changed from 1GB to 2GB. But even after changing to 2GB, the problem still exists.
Can anyone please advice me on how to check and rectify this problem? What can be the cause of this problem?
Displaying the 'Last Modified' dates and time on a form. How to go about doing what I want to do.
I would like to display on a form in one single field the date & time that any of the fields on that form were changed and. I would like to display it in such a way that it cannot be altered by anyone. If it is possible to capture and display on the form in a separate field which user account accessed and changed the record then all the better. Obviously if nothing is updated then the date and time stays the same.
I will have to create two new fields in the table that relates to the form and this I have done - one of format Date/Time and one of format Text.
Is it possible for a query to automatically get updated each time a table is added. For example I am looking at prices and each month a new table of information is added for that month and I use a query to view each month next to each other. Is there a way that each time I add a table the query will automatically update?
I have a date/time field on a form that has the default set to "=now()" which puts in the system date and time. I need to change it so that the date changes to the next day any time after 11:00 PM (instead of midnight). This is because our third shift starts their day at 11:00. If they start entering data right away, alot of their work shows up on the wrong (to them anyway) workday date. I'm struggling with the expression builder to get this to work.
One way is changing the time to be an hour ahead but that will affect the entire day when I just want to change the date for one hour per day.
I have two fields that are in short time format, and are saving the information to the table in short time format.
I then have a field that I have set to auto-fill under the chosen circumstances, with a text roughly as follows
Code: Dim Story As String Dim IDepTime DimADepTime IDepTime = [InstructedDeparture] ADepTime = [ActualDeparture] Story = "This person was instructed to leave at " & IDepTime & " but did not do so, instead departing at " & ADepTime & "which caused us a problem" me.txtnarrative.value = Story End Sub
This all works, however the times being displayed are in hh:mm:ss format, when I only want hh:mm format - how do I tell it the format I want?
I'm currently building my first database for a research project. When we enroll a participant, we need to have an enrollment date/time as well as an activation date/time (and they are not allowed to be the same because, rules). I was able to figure out how to auto-populate the current date/time when we've marked a person as enrolled. What I'm wondering is if it is also possible to auto-populate another field with the date/time, ten minutes in the future?
I think my question is fairly simple - fingers crossed.
I want to create a field that, whenever a record is added, it auto-adds the date & time the record was created. I'd call it Book_Date_Added, or something like that. I tried snooping around the Default Value options but couldn't figure it out.
The table exists and it already has some records, so I'd need to know how to add this field rather than how to create it when I create a table (although that would be helpful too, if it's somehow different).
I have a table called Neutron2015. I want the current date and time to complete when entries are made in two other fields. So I am looking for this date and time to populate in EXLStart when an entry is made in Processed By, and also the current date and time to appear in EXLEnd when an entry is made in Completed By with the bold word being the field names.
I am trying to automatically update one table to another each time a new record is added to my form, I have tried using the Update and the Append Query is there another way to do this without using code?
I have an application with a backend db on PC 1, and the same application on PC 2 linked to the backend db on PC 1 via the network.
The link works fine but the time formats are different.
On PC 1 the time format is shortime and displays as it should i.e. in 24 hour clock format
However on PC 2, opening the same database via the network, the time format is still shorttime but when you read the time within the code it comes out in AM/PM format. Also, when the defaul tiem should be #20:00:00# but this changes to #8:00:00 PM#
Weirdly though, when you just open the table, the times are in the correct shorttime format.
Guessing, it must be a setting within the main core of Access 2003 that is different between the 2 instances?
Hi.. I am trying to add data to the table. Is there any way that if i add data to the table the forms associated with it get updated automatically. It seems that when I update the form it works fine with table ,but if its the other way around it doesnt work. Any solutions..
I have a form based on a query I built that calculates time worked. you select the worker in a combo box which I created from a query that lists all active employees and their clock no. with clock no being the bound column. The drop down shows the workers last name, first name. When I choose a worker it always gives me a warning the the "Field can not be updated" but after i hit okay it stores everything in the correct field. Why am I getting this error? I tried using just my query and it works perfectly but when I try to use my form is where i run into problems. If you need more info let me know.
Is there any way to make a date change to the current date/time whenever something on a report is edited? I have a "Last Updated" field but I want it to automatically update itself.
I want to be able to find out what record was updated and I need to then log some details to another table. If I use the Form_BeforeUpdate event to detect that the recored will be updated, then How do I find out what record was updated.
I have my table set up to add today's date as a "date last updated" field. this works for all new records but I need to flag instances where a user has amended any existing records, so that on a daily basis I can filter out anything new based on the "date last updated".
Any ideas how I can flag changes to existing records?
Apologies if this is a straight forward question I'm fairly new to Access
There is probabily a simple function that can do this, but I'm stuck to find any explanation so I was hoping someone could help. I've tried the forum search but I guess I'm looking for the wrong thing.
I have managed access to the databse using the users/groups facility. So everyone who accesses the database has to effectively log in.
Users will be creating a record in only one table. When they save this record I need Access to automatically populate a designated field with the Users Log On name.
I have 5 tables which comes from different departments in our company. All of them have the same key "project no" but hold different information in other colums. As a starting point I have secured that they all have same no. of records meaning all "project no" are in all tables but some table might not contain other information in that record than the project no. I have put them into a quirie and on a form I am able to look at all data from all 5 tables. I have linked them one to one and it works fine untill I add a record to one of the tables. Afterwards I am not able to write into fields from other tables because there is no automatic creation of the record in the other tables. Please How would this be best/easiest to make for me. ? The reason why I have to keep the 5 tables is that regular updates are avaiable form any of them.
Appricate any comments which can make me any progress.
New member, so forgive me if this has been covered before:
Trying to build a Business database (more for the exercise than any desire to run a business) and have the following problem -
Have a Purchase Ordler Line table and an Item table - the item in the PO line is a lookup from the Item table - I want the PO line price to default in from the the item table.
Created the query and generated the form & subform - on screen, the substitution works, the PO line price does get picked up from the Item table, but the PO Line table does not update with this value.
