The tables are tblplans and tblplancontrol. tblplancontrol is the many end and
the foreign key is 'PlanID'
The first form that you open is the plans form. Here you complete data about the plan, i.e planID (which is unique as its the name of the plan), author and date. From here you then open the plancontrol form which is a continous form. You can select which people you want to recieve a copy of the form - the link back is the plan id.
What i want to do is make sure that each time you start a new record that the planid is automatically populated from the still open plans form.
I assume this is done through code but cant quite get the right one. It must be done before i finish each record otherwsie i will get an error.
I have a continuous form with a number of unbound fields and bound fields. However, I would like to sum an unbound fields (Text28). Text28 is an unbound calculated field based on another calculated unbound field (Text22). I would like to sum Text28 in the footer or somewhere in the form.
Here are the codes for my field:
Code: Text28 = iff([Text22>0], [Text22], [Text20] --- This works Text29 =sum(iff([Text22>0], [Text22], [Text20]) --- this is not working
Every member of a group do savings once every 15 days and each group has maximum 20 members, group has one to many relationship with customer and customer having one to many relationship with Savings (there is no direct relationship between group and savings) i have created a continuous form for saving entry. in this form i select a group which is unbound and based on that group, its members are listed in the combo box named CusID, after selecting customer other saving details are entered.
What I want, is that for every group i want a total saving for all that specific group's members selected in the mentioned unbound combo box in that continuous form, this total should be based on the group selected in the mentioned unbound combo box, in case i select another group the total should also be based on newly selected group.
I have a form that is being used for sample submission. Ideally, the user will be able to put in some information (3 or 4 fields) and the number of samples that they're taking, click the arrow and it will insert that number of samples into a temporary table that is then displayed on a continuous form. From there, they can edit samples, add more samples, and generate a report to submit to the genotyping group. Once their sample list is final, I will append it to the master list and clear the temporary table.
I've got the basics working. A looped "INSERT INTO" using a counter inserts the relevant information. I cannot, however, seem to get the numbering field to work.
Ultimately, the numbers need to look something like MySample-001, where MySample would be one of the other fields. Incrementing the 001 is the problem. In another situation in the database, I can successfully use DMax+1 to assign a single number on a single form, but I can't get it to increment the sample numbers.
Ideally, I'd like it to happen when the form is generated. However, I'm also open to having them assigned when the sample list is finalized, before inserting into master table.
I want to show some text from another table based on the values of the bound fields in each record of a continuous form. I thought it would be easy, but I can't get it to work.
I step through the records in the bound recordset and use some of the values to query another table. Then I use the value from the query to populate the unbound text field.
It works fine for each record. But every time the unbound field is updated, all the records in the continuous form are updated.
I'm stuck on this one. It's probably something simple to fix - if you know what to do!
I have a form that is displayed continuously and there is a text field in it (Text12).In the footer of this form I would like to add a textbox that is the sum of all Text12's on the form.I tried =Sum([Text12]) in the textboxes control source but that is just displaying an error when I run the form.
Access 2002 . Can I condition a field to 'locked' on just one record of a continuous form subfile, based on the contents of a 2nd field in same record?
I have a form listing tasks to which I make personnel assignments with a multi-value list field type. It takes some time to select from 15-25 employees on the list for each task, especially considering that small groups of employees will be assigned to the same selection of tasks.
What I want to do is select multiple records with the mouse, then click a command button opening a form in dialog mode with the selection list. The user then clicks to make his selections and clicks ok, which then updates the multi-select field for the selected records.
I have a continuous form with a text field that says "Select". There are two other fields, one of which is Brand. When the Brand Combo box has nothing in it I want the text box to appear (instructing the user to select a Brand) But once the user selects a Brand and goes to the next records, I would like the "Select" in only that record to become not visible. I tried conditional formatting but can't apply that to an unbound control ( or at least it is grayed out when I select the text box) and any other possible solutions I have found changes all of the selects - not only the one in the changed record.
in a continuous form i want to click on one record and have the one field change the background colour to highlight it. When I use the code: Field. BackColor = vbYellow it changes the background on all the records. Is there a code to say only for the record with focus?
What I am trying to do is put a subform within a subform. The trouble is I want both forms to be continuous forms.
when I put the subform within a subform, access comes up with the following message:
************************************************** ******************** A form with a subform object cannot have its DefaultView set to Continuous forms.
You tried to add a subform to a form in design view. MSAcess will reset the property to Single Form. ************************************************** *********************
which it does my higher level form becomes a form only showing single records at a time whilst the subform is a continuous form.
I've got one form that a user will start on, titled "Query Form" - Only one text box is here and it is titled "text0"
Upon hitting enter here, a new form is opened up titled "Time_IN_Form".
What I would like to do is have the value from text0 on the Query Form to automatically populate Emp_ID on Time_IN_Form so the user doesn't have to enter their employee number twice (only once via the first form).
What is the best way to do this? I have tried playing with global variables but didnt have any luck with that.
I have a form with fields "Assigned To" and "Assigned Date". When "Assigned To" receives a value, i.e. Not=Null, I want to auto-populate the "Assigned Date" field with the current date and time. How can I do this? Any help is appreciated.
Basically, we have different camera modules on which we perform a given test a number of times, giving rise to 2 tables, tblCamera which will store basic info about the module and tblTest which will hold info for each test perfomed.
The camera module has a unique ID (CameraID, the Primary key in tblCamera and foreign key in tblTest (one to many)). The primary key in tblTest will be a compound key of CameraID and an incremental number for each test performed on a given camera (TestNo). The data for the tests will need to be entered through a form, so I can build a form based on tblCamera with a subform based on tblTest (which would be in datasheet view)... What I am looking for is a way to increment TestNo in the subform, starting at 1. I have tried using
in the Default Value box for this field, which works to a point but has the curious effect of adding each number twice (as the default value for a new record seems to be added as soon as you start typing in the current 'last row')
I just can't seem to get my head around this one, any suggestions would be much appreciated...
Hi, just a quick question that i hopes not too hard.
Basically i want one of the fields on my form to get automiatically filled in. I'd like it to take the first letter from one field and the first letter from another field. What im trying to do is make a primary key field up from other fields they have entered.
So for adding new customer i want it to take the firstletter of the firstname and first let of the surname.
SO for myself Luke Tarrant it would be LT. Then i suppose i'll need to add some unique so there no duplicates as it a primary key field im trying to populate.
I am trying to autofill a field based on another field but am not sure the best way to accompish this. I have a database that includes an employee table which has an Employee ID Number (EIN), name, address, etc. All my employees are listed in that table (full time as well as temps).
I also have an attendance table, which i have created a form to input the information. When a full time employee is off, they are covered by a temp. So, the form includes a field for the guard who is off, how many shifts they are off and which temp employee worked for the full time employee and for how many shifts. My payroll department needs the employee ID added to each employee (full time and temp) on the payroll report.
My Report is formated by Guard Off with a start date and end date to coincide with our pay periods. Multiple people enter info and then a bi-weekly report is sent to payroll. The report lists the employee off and then sorts by date and lists the employee working that date and shifts worked. (I hope that makes sense)
All the employee information is in one table. What I would like is when a name is selected on the form for Employee Off from a list box the EIN is automatically added to the EmployeeEIN field in the attendance table(the name in the list box is pulled from the Employee table). I also need the same for the Temp employee. When a name is selected from a list box for the temporary employee the TempEIN is automatically selected from the same Employee table based on the name selected.I can go into relationships and link the name in the Employee table with one name in the Attendance table, but not both.
Just wondering if this can be done: You enter data in the first text box of a field on a continuous form, and all the remaining records are filled up with the same data.
I have 2 tables named Candidates & Comments. CandidateID is the Primary key for Candidates and CommentID is the primary key for Comments.
I have CandidateID as a foreign key in the Comments table to link the two together.
I have a form "frm_CandidateMain" which lists a candidates details and a subform within it "frm_Comments" (in datasheet view) which lists comments that have been made for that candidate. These forms are linked by CandidateID as the Master/Child fields. This is working fine, and when double clicking the comment field, another form opens "frm_expanded" which is a pop up and has a larger field to that detailed comments can be written/read without the need to scroll along in datasheet view.
However, when double clicking on a blank line in the "frm_comments" field the "frm_expanded" form opens a blank form with no CandidateID selected, but I'd like it to auto populate the CandidateID from the main form that is currently open.
I've tried to do with with a Macro within Macro builder, but failed to do this.
I have created 2 tables, one for direct customers and one for indirect customers. (I consider indirect a customers customer). The 2nd table has a field that links every indirect customer to a direct one. I also have a table for inserting credit notes. The credit note is either for a direct or an indirect customer. I am using a form for this one. So the form has 2 fields, one for each kind of customer. If the customer is direct, i only insert the direct customer field. If its an indirect customer i insert the indirect customer field. What i want is to create a combo box that when choosing an indirect customer, to display the linked direct customer and to save it to the direct customer field.
I have an entry form for a table named [Group Members]. The form has several fields deriving data from 2 other tables [Mail List] and [Groups] I wish to automatically display a Group ID when the relevant Group Name is selected from a drop down list.The Row Source Code is as follows;
SELECT [GROUPS].[GROUPS ID}, [GROUPS].[GROUP NAME FROM GROUPS].
The Bound Column is 1.This code fails to display the [GROUPS ID] when a Group Name is entered. Which other controls do I need to modify to achieve this simple matter? I have similar code installed to achieve auto display of Member ID when Member Name is entered. That code is equally ineffective.
I have a form that is populated by the User via a combo-box lookup. I'm trying to get an unbound field on the form populated after the combo-box is updated; the goal is that the field will have a value from a table (other than the form source) whose record can be found using the value from the combo-box.
Say for example, the User selects an OBJECTID of 100 and the form populates. There is another table in the database that has an OBJECTID field but that also has a different code or designation for the same asset. This is the value I want to pull into this field. I have tried the DoCmd.SearchForRecord approach, but Access doesn't seem to be buying it.
Is there a direct way to reference this value into the field, or do I need to consider making a query the source of the table and going that route?
I have created two tables one for long term goals (tableA) and one for short term goals (tableB).Each table has its own PK but in tableB I store the PK of tableA for linking the two tables. The relationship is for each long term goal you can have many short term goals to achieve the long term. I have created a form that has the long term on a main form and the short term in a subform. and the linking of the ID's works correctly.
My problem is that on the main form I have another ID field (not a PK) that when I click a button to add additional long term goals I want the ID field copied and populated when the new data entry form is opened. The button is created with the wizard to add a new record. How can I copy the ID from the open form to the same field on the form when the new record button is clicked?
