Auto Drop Down In A Combo Box

I remember seeing it. i just don't remember if i need code for this or not. I would like to the combo box to open and show the full menu upon entry.

I've created a drop-down box on a form, that allows a user to choose from three names.
However, when I choose say name A, it then populates all the other entries with name A.
For example:
record 1 has name A
record 2 has name b
record 3 has name a
if i then enter a new record, and enter name C in it, it changes records 1, 2 and 3 to show name C too.
is there a setting i need to change or something?
I have a Table named TBLBookings...on one of the fields I have a Lookup wizard thats linked to a Table named TBLVehicles which includes
Car Reg
Car Type
Location
When I run the TBLBooking and click the drop down list it shows up
Car Reg
Car Type
Location
but once the field is clicked all it shows in the records is the REG where in a form id like to see what vehicle it is location etc...is it possible to have extra fields in the form named Car Type and Location and once the registration is chosen it automatically fills in the correct details for them?
I have made a database. I have gotten to the point where I use a form to get the information. I am trying to get the information to auto populate fields after using 3 drop menus. They are department name, shop and shift. All of the information comes out of tbl department name, tbl shop and tbl shift.
I also have a table with department name, shop, shift, line, employee total, shift leader total, ratio of shift leaders per line and total employees off. I am trying to figure out once use the 3 drop down how can I Auto populate the remaining fields. Also I am trying to figure out where and how to put in the code.
When I get focus of a combo box I do an automatic dropdown but when I select an item from the list the dropdown doesn't close so it covers my other fields until I click randomly anywhere on the form. How can I get the dropdown to close as soon as I make my selection from the list?

Hi I'm a beginner using access and I was wondering if it's possible to choose a value from a combo box in a form (like a customer #) and when chosen the rest of the fields would get the corresponding values from table CUSTOMER. I have made the customer info a sub-form in my main form called ORDER your help will be greatly appreciated

I was wondering if it is possible to prevent the drop down list from displaying on a combo box, and even better, to hide the drop down button. I know this just sounds like using change to and changing the combo to a text. However, as the text box doesn't have the same properties, it won't display the correct information and explaining how the combo box get its information is a little complicated. If there isn't a way, I'll try to explain in a reply. :)

This is a simple question i think, but how do i enable my drop down menu to work for a combo box. I have a search query bound to a form and the combo box bound to a field of that query. At present my query just display the first record for any search result from my query on the combo box.

As an example lets say I have a table listing some cars:
Car Make Car Model
Ford Fiesta
Ford Focus
Ford GT
Mercades C Class
Mercades E Class
Mercades A Class
I am making a form with two combo drop downs with the ability to select car make or model.
Car Model is Unique so if the car model is entered, I will force the car Make into the other combo box
however, If i select "Mercades" for example in the car make, I would like the combo box of Car model to only be filled with the possible models that Mercades make.
Is this possible? (to search for the values available in Car Model based on the value entered in Car Make?)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Combo Box bound which gets its values from a table (T_Users).
The Combo Box displays the Users 'Initials' [Column 1], but the Bound Column [Column 2] is that of the Users 'ID' (which is used when a record is edited or a new record added).
What I want to be able to do is when the user clicks the Combo Box, and the drop down list 'drops down' the options, I want them to not only see the 'Initials' but also selected other columns - BUT - when the option is selected I just want the 'Initials' to be displayed in the Combo Box.

i don't want a date picker or between dates I have tried searching but cannot seem to find an answer They are for my engineers, they want to know what callouts they have today or tomorrow or the next 3 days or this week.
I'm trying to create a combo box that takes its values from a field in a table, the thing is that this field has duplicates because:
* The table is a qualification look up table
* It has 3 fields: QualificationID (autonumber), Qualification(e.g. Bachelor), Programme (e.g. Science)
* E.g of duplicate values (this is not a problem as it is necessary) Bachelor of Science, Diploma of Science, Certificate of Science
What I'm trying to do is create 2 single-columned combo boxes that are a parameter for a query and it's working except the combo boxes show duplicated valuesIs there a way to get the query that is the row source for the combo box to eliminate duplicates?
Just fumbling my way around Access 2007, is the only way you can create a drop down list of number by creating a table and inserting a combo box? I am trying to create a list of hours for example:

Summerwind had posted an example to auto populate a combo box. The code below follows his example, but is not working for me:
The fields I have on my form are:
cboCompany
cboLocation
cboCompany is based on tblCompany( with fields CompanyName, Location)
When I update the cboCompany field, I want the cboLocation combo box to populate with all locations for the company that was entered into the cboCompany combo box on the form. E.g. The company "Visions" may be exist in the tblCompany with 3 different locations: Visions (Las Vegas), Visions (Ohio), Visions(California). When I pick the company "Visions" from the cboCompany combo box, I want the cboLocation combobox to be populated with "Las Vegas", "Ohio", and "California".
The code is as follows but returns empty records in cboLocation:

When a Combo Box is first opened, the vertical slider doesn't quite sync up with the contents. The slider will move up and down, but the contents of the combo box won't automatically slide up and down with that slider until the slider has first gone to the bottom of the list.
I've sat here for 10 minutes and waited -- no difference. Unless I physically slide the slider all the way to the bottom of the list, the contents of the combo box will not slide with that slider.
How can I make the contents sync up with the slider right away so that I can more easily find things 1/3 of the way down without sliding the bar all the way to the bottom to sync it up then back up to slowly slide the slider until I see it?
Is there anyway that access could create a drop down box within a drop down box? For instance, when a selection is made in a drop down box, it opens another drop down box with choices.And is it possible to link an inserted image from a form to open in MSPaint that when it opens, the image is already there?

I would like to have a combo box so that you can do a search inside of it and find the necessary product, select it, and all the product specs will be displayed. They were working last week and I have no idea why they're not working now. Strangely, if I type in any of the entries present in the combobox list (text such as "St. Louis City") exactly as it appears in the combobox list, and then press enter, I get an error message telling me the value is invalid. Then, if I use the drop-down list to find and select "St. Louis City", it allows me to enter this value.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI set up an Access database to track visiting families. Each person in a family is inserted as a seperate row in my table. The table has the following columns: Visitor # (which is an auto #), Head of household, last name, first name, phone, email, address and etc.
The first person I enter when a family visits is the head of the household. I set up a quiery with a pull down combo box in my form so when I enter a new entry I can select a head of the houshold to assign each person to. Since I put the head of the household in first. I can then select that head of the household (this way I can track each family member seperate but still know they belong to the same family). So if we have a family visit that has a husband, wife and a child. There are three entries each having a head of the household as the same. When I use the query to select the head of the household in the combo box I would like the information that is the same as the original "head of the household" entry (address and phone #) to be automacially filled in from the husband's initial entry.
How can I do this? I read some other post with some VB in them like "Me.TextBox = ComboBox1.Column(3)" but I don't understand the syntax too well since I'm new at this.
Any help would be appreciated.

I using access 2010 and I am trying to code (VBA) one of my combo box to auto select if another combo box consist of multiple selections. So for example I have a multi select combo box that has a list of departments and based on what the user selects I want the other combo box to automatically select itself if one or more of the department in the first combo box is selected:

I have completed the majority of my program it's just a few little things i need to tweak.
The main thing is that i am trying to get a text box to autofill from a selection in a combo box i.e.
i have selected a drop down box with 3 coloums looked up from another table i would like 1 of the columns to stay in the combo box after selection and the other two to appear in the text boxes on the same page.
Any help would be much appreciated.
