Automatically Delete Data From Certain Fields

I have a table in my Database that uses the feilds Location and partnum. I use a barcode scanner to generate each of these fields. The problem I am having is that when our part number is scanned it contains data such as "des--. 123456 --aa". I have been doing a find/replace on this data to remove the "des--." and "--aa" but I was wondering if access has a function to do this for me so that I can get a macro to check automatically for this type of problem. Any ideas?

Delete Field Contents Automatically

Here is one that I could use some help with.

I have an Updates field in all of my tables. It, of course, holds my audit trail. Im tryiing to figure out a way that I could run a single command and clear the contents of all the Updates fields on all the tables in my db. Ideally, I'd like to auto generate a report for all the update fields on all the tables, then do a purge.

Any ideas?

Im trying to make a basic customer database and pos system. The part iam having trouble with is, I have two tables as follows:

Inventory: orders(invoices):
productId ProductId
amount (in stock) amount(sold)
pricePerUnit CashTendered

I want the amount(in stock) sold in each order to be deducted from the total in the amount(sold) automatically.

I'm an amateur (is there such a thing as having databases as a hobby?) with little training. I volunteered to organize a growing volunteer group I'm a part of by making a simple database for the volunteer office staff. One of the things I want it to do is make name tags for our weekly meetings. I don't want to print one for each name on our list because the list is over 400 names long with only around 35 regular attendees. I made two tables--one is the MakeNameTag table that lists regular attendees (it is a lookup field on the Names table).

The other is the Absences table. It has two fields; DateOfAbsence and MakeNameTag. If someone misses a meeting (does not pick up their name tag), their name is added to the Absences table. A query then filters the table for dates in the last 28 days. If their names shows up four times in the last 28 days I want for their name to be deleted from the MakeNameTag table. How to do that automatically? Our office volunteers have minimal PC skills, so the solution needs to be very user-friendly.

I have a problem and not sure what the best approach is.

Our study enrolls patients and then re-contacts them every month for 1 year. I want to create 12 new records in "Table2" based on the "baseline_date" and "StudyID" of each patient in "Table1". "Baseline_date" is the initial date the patient is enrolled in the study and "StudyID" is a number created based on information from the patient. Both are unique values. What I want to do, is after the "baseline_date" variable is updated with the date of enrollment on a form I want to trigger VB code to automatically create 12 records in "Table2". "Table2" would have the following variables: "StudyID", "Early_Date" and "Late_Date". The records would be created based on the following.

Record1{"StudyID", "Early_Date=(baseline_date+30)-3", "Late_date=baseline_date+30)+10;
Record2{"StudyID", "Early_Date=(baseline_date+60)-3", "Late_date=baseline_date+60)+10;
Record3{"StudyID", "Early_Date=(baseline_date+90)-3", "Late_date=baseline_date+90)+10;
Record4{"StudyID", "Early_Date=(baseline_date+120)-3", "Late_date=baseline_date+120)+10;
Record5{"StudyID", "Early_Date=(baseline_date+160)-3", "Late_date=baseline_date+160)+10
......
Record12{"StudyID", "Early_Date=(baseline_date+360)-3", "Late_date=baseline_date+360)+10

The -3, +10 gives us a two week window in which to contact the patient. "Table2" containing the newly created records will have a many to one relationship with "Table1".

Hello
there is a field in my form named "numphotos" and I write the number of photos than that folder contains.

I have a subform in that main form named "descriptions", here I describe, one for one, all photos of that folder.

Itsnīt a problem if the folder contains a few photos, but I have folders that have even 100 photos :confused: then I must to create 100 records in my subform :eek:

I would like than Access create those records automatically according to the number of photos that I indicate at the field numphotos.

I only would desire that Access create that many lines to me as I have written on "numphotos". I would write the rest of the information (photographer and description)

I have a database with over one hundred employees in. Attached to each employee is a relationship where they can do many activities. How can I automatically create one activity record per employee at the beginning of a day and give the date field in the many part of the relationship the current days date.

I assume you've got to create a recordset and do something along the line of - do until EOF docmd.acrecnew.
But haven't got a clue where to start.

Cannot Delete Records

I have a query of records that are not related to records is the secondary table. I want to delete these records but when I select the records and click delete I get the confirmation to delete answer to delete them and all the records disappear. When I run the query again, all the records are still there. Does anyone know what is happening? This is an access front end that connects to a SQL server database.

I have a survey form that has the questions on a subform based on the response to one of the survey demographic questions (via a query based on that response). The answers to the questions are on a sub-sub form. How can I get the program to delete the answers that were entered (they are related to the primary survey form with a common ID number) if the user changes the survey response.

In other words, if the user of SurveyID 5 decides that they want to fill out the list of blue questions rather than red questions, how can I delete all the answer blue records for SurveyID 5? Right now, it will display the red questions if you change to red and enter red answers, but the blue answers remain in the database, creating 2 sets of answers for SurveyID 5.

Any suggestions...if this is not too confusing?

Form created based on a query. When i go to the form, the add new record and delete record buttons are disabled.

I have a table in access which captures a couple of bits of information. The database is for tenant management and payment records. This is what i am trying to achieve:

In one table I record payment information, when they paid, and how much they paid.

In the lease table I capture information such as first pay date, and the payment schedule, whether this be weekly, monthly, fortnightly etc.

I would like to create a table of sorts which has the next twelve months worth of payments dates. Then when i add a payment to my payment table it will match it up with the correct payment date. This will allow me to track arrears and missed payments.

Delete Records Problem

Good evening,

I am experiencing a problem with the delete buttons I have added into my forms. I have 3 different forms that operators use, I added a delete button using the wizard on each form to delete the data if the user makes a mistake. I have allowed deletes in the form properties. My problem is that the button only works on one of the forms. I have checked the code and it is the same on all 3 forms.

The record is not deleted, all that happens is that the vertical bar down the LHS of the form flashes black, and thats about it

Auto Delete Records?

I am creating a web database where users submit entries using an online form. When they submit the entry, I am saving the entry date and time in a column called Timestamp. What I need to figure out is if there is a way to create some sort of expiration date, based on the Timestamp, that will automatically delete a record after it is 7 days old.
