Autonumber/ Auto Reference Question

Jan 25, 2005

Hi there

I would like to build a database whereby when I create a new record it generates a new reference.

What I'd like is say the first record to be: SNN0001 and then when I create a new record the next record would be: SNN0002

How in the heck do I do this

Thanks for any help

Making Dispatch Notes - Generate Reference Number Using AutoNumber

Aug 3, 2011

I have made a database for a repair workshop, where you book in and book out repairs.

I am having a problem as we need to make a Dispatch Note daily with a list of all booked out repairs for that day and for that branch.

This is all working so far. However, we need to generate a reference number using AutoNumber (Wshop0001, Wshop0002, etc) and keep a record of this - how can this be done with keeping ONE reference number per day per branch?

So I have a table tblPO2006 with a field PO that contains a number.

Auto Sequence Number For Reference Number

Dec 8, 2005

The title probably doesn't give an idea of what I need, so here goes.

We currently have reference #'s for our bills that include the date requested in mmddyy format, the first 3 letters of the customer, the initials of the order taker and finally a sequential number to show the sumber of bills that day.

example: 120705SEAGMM02 2nd order taken by GMM for Seagate on 12/7
120705SEARLH01 1st order taken by RLH for Seagate on 12/7

I want to generate this number automatically based on the date entered and the initials given of the user. We only deal with one customer at our desk so that will always be "SEA".

I have a query that generates the first portion (date, customer, and initials):

SELECT Format([REQDATE],"mm") AS [Month], Format([REQDATE],"dd") AS [Day], Format([REQDATE],"yy") AS [Year], Format([REQDATE],"mmddyy") AS [Both], [Both] & "SEA" & [PickUpReqData]![INITIALS] AS REFNO
FROM PickUpReqData;

But I can't seem to get my head around the part of generating the number. I know I had done this in a database I created 2 jobs ago but all my files were flooded out in Katrina. (I have since relocated to Atlanta, although I'm not looking for sympathy. But I will take what I can get!)

Anything to point me in the right direction will be appreciated. I am looking to have this on a form and feed the REFNO field in the PickUpReqData table.

Thanks.

Controlling Autonumber Field - Start Autonumber From 1 Everyday (Composite Key)

Nov 21, 2013

I have two tables linked to each other in one to many relationship. Instead of auto number, the date and shift (Text) is being used as the primary keys (Composite Primary Key). Here is the tables structures,

Payouts Table:
Date: Primary Key
Shift (Day or Night) : Primary Key

Bills Table:
Date: Primary Key
Shift (Day or Night): Primary Key
Autonumber: Primary Key

The tables Payouts and Bills has one to many relationship. One payout row can have many bills. The problem is that I want to start the Autonumber in bills table everyday from 1. As date and shift are different for every day so even if i start bills from 1 everyday, it wont make same primary key. I can do it manually but I want to make it automatically.

Auto-trim / Auto-crop A Picture & Screenshot

Mar 20, 2006

we use access database for printing lab reports. and a small graph is also printed on this report from another software(not an access application).

what i have done is that first we print the txt report from access and then use the same paper to print graph on it. I have alligned the report in such a way that these two reports fit perfectly.

we have to print twice and sometimes the graph is deleted in the other application, so we have to make the graph again.

what i want to do is:
1) prepare graph in the other application.
2) take a screenshot of it.
3) save this as an image file (jpg or bmp)
4) reference this picture in the access application and print it with the report.

So the problems are:
1) when i take a screenshot, how do i save it as a file,
2) how do i just get the area of the graph and remove all extra space. (usually all the other space is white as background)

Auto-insert And Auto-update Help

Sep 1, 2005

Hi all!
I was wondering if you guys can help me out with this one:

I would like to have data auto-inserted from a particular colum in table 'x' in to a defined column in table 'y'. similary, I'd like to achieve auto-updation of this data as well as deletion. Can anyone please provide some guidelines?

A little more detail :

I have a column "Client ID" in the table client_personal_info, the rows of which I'd like to have updated in the "Client ID" column in the client_business_detail table.

So if say, ClientID_1 is a row that has been added by the user, I'd like to have it auto-inserted in the client ID column in the client_business_detail table

thanks in advance for your help

Modules & VBA :: Name Auto-Correct Off But Auto Changes Appear

May 22, 2014

Access 2010 keeps changing the Capitalization of objects when I don't want it to.

For example "Cancel" becomes "cancel". Later it will be changed back to "Cancel".

There is also a table with a field "FULLNAME". Several Queries build a field "FullName". As a result FullName, even in places like Application. CodeProject.FullName get changed to Application.CodeProject.FULLNAME.

(Track Name AutoCorrect is off. ) It is especially irritating because I export the code to text files and check it into source control. Sometimes dozens, or even hundreds, of files will show up as changed because Access did it's rename thing.

Reference

Please help, how can I refer to the field of a subform in Visual Basic when the (main) form is open?

A)
Private Sub supplierID_AfterUpdate()
Forms![invoices]![KombináltLista4].Requery
End Sub

B)
Private Sub supplierID_AfterUpdate()
Forms![details1 Segédűrlap]![KombináltLista4].Requery
End Sub

These don't work. (The main form: INVOICES; the subform:DETAILS1 Segédűrlap; KombináltLista4 is the name of a combo box)

The version B work, when I open the form and the subform together, but of course I'd like to work only on the form (where the subform is displayed as well, but I can't refer to it...)

Change A Reference

Apr 29, 2005

I need to change the reference "Microsoft Access 9.0 Object Library" in Access 2000 with the "Microsoft Access 11.0 Object Library" but I can't de-select it 'cause it's used by the program. Another problem is that I tried to import the 11.0 copying the file and when I select it from the panel control it seems to import without problems, but when I search it in the list, the 11.0 doesn't exist.
How can I import it?

Reference Problem

Jan 12, 2006

Hi, I have been designing a database on my computer which seems to be working fine; 2 more users in the company should be able to use the database. In order to see if everything was working properly on other computers, I have put a copy of my db on the server and tried to open it on the other users computer station. Unfortunately, the reference library that I have been updating during the design of the database doesn't seem to apply to the other computers. I have been trying to update it on the other machine but the references on the tool menu in open module is not available.
I didn't expect this to hapened and I am not sure what to do, what would be the apropriate method to make the library available to the other computers?

Reference Number

Aug 29, 2006

Hi guys/gals

My primary key, RefNumber, is a sequentual Autonumber field. I want to creat my own Custommade autonumber field, but the catch is:
My autonumber field should have any of the following (selectable by the user from a combo box from a Form) attached in front of the number: DPR,DPZ,DFE,DGL,DMI,DGJ or DPE.
ie: the autonumber is at 14. The user selects DFE, but this is only the seconde choice made of DFE.

So the end product should be: RefNumber = 14
.........................................DistrictR efNumber = DFE2 or DFE002

Help please?
Thanks in advance

Reference Problem

Apr 30, 2007

Hello, I have been struggling with this for a while, and I'm hoping I can get some help. The problem I have relates to three tables. I pulled the tables off to the side to show the current relationships between them; Please see attached.

Here is my setup. I created a form that has all the fields in tblEntry, and a combo box whose record source is [EmployeeID] in tblEmployees.

The problem, when the user selects from the combo box, I am getting an entry for the field [EmployeeID] in tblEntry, but I am not getting an entry for [CategoryID] from tblCategory. Basically, I want the user to be able to select one thing and to get two entries: [EmployeeID] and [CategoryID].

Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Reference Date

Dec 3, 2007

I have StartDate and EndDate fileds where I enter the date and time the employee starts and finishes his shift (in dddd dd mmmm yyyy hh:nn AM/PM format). However there is a penalty issue that starts at 7.00 PM.
How do I set up a non changing reference for 7.00 PM that I can reference to make a calculation.
For example I need to calculate penalties for when the employee works hours past 7.00 cutoff time.

I would appreciate any assistance to solve this problem

Thanks

Reference Last Result

Dec 4, 2006

I am writing a query to calculate a running value, looking at the result of the line above and adjusting the running value in relation to new criteria. Make sense ?

For example

I have a number of dates which each have a value (a) against them dependant on the value in (a) I want to reward it in different ways and store the result in (b), I then want to look at (b) in the result of the above line in acessing how I will reward the next record.

Basically I want to read the value of the result of the line above when calculating the next line ? So it is basically cumulative through the query.

ps just found this forum so sorry for postiong a question first but any guidance appreciated.
