Background Colours On Forms Other Than Normal Options
Aug 1, 2005
I'm wanting to get a very, very pale shade of gray as the background colour for an Access form, as well as for several text boxes on it. This is so that users can distinguish editable regions (white bgs) from uneditable ones (light gray bgs).
The default colours that pop up in the menu choices are too dark for this. I've tried using a tiled image for the background of the form, which works fine. But I'd like my uneditable textboxes to be selectable (so users can copy data) whilst being that colour too, which can't be done.
Therefore I'm looking for either the number code for a very very light gray colour (Access' default lightest is "12632256") or some sort of translator tool to let me know how on earth these numbers relate to anything in computing -- I mean, what do those numbers represent? Are they html=no, hex codes=no, rgb values, no... I mean, how is Access coming up with those numbers? I've tried just getting a light gray using trial and error and can't figure it out (even ended up with lime green at one point - very nice on the eyes lol).
I'm given this table and I'm supposed to say in which Normal Form it is. I'm not sure but I guess in this specific case I need to consider both Toy_ID and Order_ID as primary key. Then one can see that Order_Date ist dependent on Order_ID but not on Toy_ID, then the table should be in 2NF, right ?
The table is not in 3NF because even though Producer is dependent on Toy_ID (at least I think it's dependent), City and Country are not directly but only transitively dependent on Toy_ID. Am I right ?
I'm using access 2003. I've got a textbox placed ontop of an image that I want to make it seem to disappear on a conditional format.
The back color property of the textbox I want to set is "13160660". How do I choose this colour when applying conditional formatting as I only seem to be able to choose from the swatch of 40 default colours and no option to define custom colours.
My database has a front end that uses forms to allow the user to navigate within it, each year we create a new database which is based on the previous year's database but with all the variable information removed.
Within the database each form has a caption that starts with '2014-15' then goes on to say the form name.
Most of my forms also have a yellow background, (last year it was pink).
Both these areas were set up so that each year our users can distinguish between our databases, as they may have last years and this years open at the same time.
What I would like if possible is to know whether I can get a user to change both these things from within a form. So something along the lines of a button that when clicked would check all form captions and if within the caption it finds 2014-15 then change it to 2015-16 (or whatever the user specifies) but keep the rest of the caption. I would also want the same type of thing to happen with the colour so again within the background of the forms, if you find colour X then replace it with colour Y.
If this can't be done within a front end form, then could it be done behind the scenes, and if so how would I go about doing it?
I saved my database as ACCDE file which is executable now the problem i am facing is i can't edit my database since i can not view it into design view.
I have built a database using Access 2010 using the 'web' format for the forms, reports and tables.
This has been fine so far as I have been using macros for my clickonevents.
However I now need some functionality not available in the web forms macro expression builder. Namely Openquery, (it is not on the available list). I therefore want to copy my forms formatting and properties to a normal non-web form allowing me to enter vba code.
Is there no way of doing this though - will I have to redesign the form again from scratch?
I am making a specialty form where it must toggle on or off when the user clicks on a boxed area. Since toggle backgrounds cannot be set to transparent, I need to do it some other way. I thought of either using a button to control a hidden checkbox, or just writing code altogether. The problem is that I don't know what code to use to programmatically change the state each time the box is clicked.
I need help on creating a form for users to enter data for their projects' progress about 10 projects totals.
Among other data, I have difficulty to have data enter on these 2:
**On budget: have 2 check boxes: either 1/Yes and 2/ No **On Schedule: have 3 check boxes: either 1/Yes and 2/No and 3/N/A
If I use GROUP OPTION frame for each On budget and On Schedule, whatever value Yes or No (or N/A) they will be the same for all 10 projects!! :-(
Also, I would like to FORCE the users to enter the value for those On Budget and On Schedule for each project before they move on to the next project and so on...
What I am trying to do is create a form with 2 drop down boxes (A,B,C,D) &1,2,3,4...) what I want to do is make it so if you select option A in the first box only 1,2&3 are available in the second box but if you select option B 3,4&5 will be the only options available.
Here, what I am trying to learn, that background of the form change its colour automatically after sometime let say 1 min or after 2 min
I find the link on the web where more than 500 colour code are available, but not sure, how I can use [URL] ....
I can put this command on form_load() Me.Detail.BackColor = ????????? but question is how i can bring other colour into loop
Plus, if the user want to do any work on the same form, will this loop also allow the user to do any work, I mean form should not be stuck up in the loop of changing a colour...
I have been using Access for many years, but have come against a problem which I can't fathom.
I have a database with a field for "Organisation Type" which contains all the various options which can be chosen by the user.
However, when I'm in a field, it refuses to show that list in alphabetical order, defaulting to an order I don't recognise which is most unuseful as it makes it almost impossible to find the right item, especially for a novice user.
I thought this was perhaps because the form was based on the database table, and this didn't allow sorting.
So, to test my theory, I created a query based on the table and added alphabetical sorting to that field. As soon as I use the query as a basis for the field, I find the problem remains.
I am trying to make a checkbox with different graphics since the checkbox can not be resized. I thought I could stack images on top of each other and toggle between showing and hiding based on if the checkbox was checked. This actually works, but I wanted to hide my checkbox, so I hid it behind my images. This didn't work. So I brought it to the front and made it invisible. This didn't work either. What can I do? The checkbox is linked to the table, but I want the graphics to show thumbs up or down and not see the checkbox.
In my table (tbl_data) I have a field named Rating. This can be anything from 1 - 10.
On my form (frm_input) I have a textbox (created using the wizard so at the moment I'll call it txt_Rating).
What I would like to know how to do is:
If the value in the textbox is 0-5 leave the background colour of the textbox white with black font. If the value in the textbox is 6-7 turn the background colour pale yellow with black font. If the value in the textbox is greater than 7.1 turn the background colour Red with white font.
I have a listbox and whenever I clicked on a row it will highlight black background and white font color. How can I disable this or change the formatting?
Does the background color on subforms can be changed to transparent?I have a form which contains 4 subforms. The main form has a picture that likes up with the 4 subforms, but when i go to make the sub form background color transparent it is greyed out.
I have a form that has a field called Project Name where a user types the project name. We have certain abbreviations we use for a building making it hard to search in the future.
I know we can set the autocorrect option on Access Program but that will effect all MS applications.
Is there a way to have a certain field or for have these autocorrect options?
I have a userform that pops up when I am implementing a VBA subroutine. The nature of the form is simply to update the user what progress through the operation the code is using a label called lblProgressText.
So, I have a form called frmProgress and in my loop I use:
The lblProgressText control just wont update (but earlier today it was so maybe I have broken something).Btw, all this code is run from a Module, not in the form object.
I have a continuous form... and I want to filter the table in the background using the text box called "Badge" (boxed in red in my picture.) You can see the corresponding part over in the filter field. When I display the form, though, Access still asks me for the Badge value, so it's not linking. What formatting am I missing to properly refer to the field?
In Access 2007 (or 2010 , 2013), in a continuous form, I want to change the background colour of a text box depending on its value. Obviously, for each record, the color can be different.
Form_A (main form for the application - should always be open) Form_B (always open, but sometimes has visibility set to false) Form_C (opens from button on Form_B)
When I press the button on Form_B, the only code behind it is DoCmd.OpenForm "Form_C". This seems to hide Form_B, and open Form_C behind Form_A (which is the main form of the application) inside of an Access window.
I would like Form_C to open in front of Form_B. I suspect that I set up the form incorrectly or something when I created it, and it is therefore opening inside an Access window.
I have on very large form in my db that takes several seconds to load. I want to optimize things, so I am trying to have it load hidden in the background when the db first starts up, this way it can be immediately called on when it is needed later. Please read further :
I want to have a splash screen that loads as well. I have set the splash screen to the default form when the database opens. However, I am not quite sure how to get the other form to load in the background as hidden, AFTER the splash screen opens and appears. I tried calling it with the oncurrent event of the splash screen, but then splash screen wont appear until after the other (hidden) form has finished loading. I have tried different orders of events, but am having no luck getting the desired results.
Summary: I want the splash screen to show first, then the big form to open (hidden) in the background. The user can click on a continue button on the splash screen and then the main switchboard will open.
I would like to change the Font and background color based on dates.
-I have a text box (Training Event) on a form populated from a field (Training Dates) in a query.
- I need the font and/or the background in that text box to change to red when the date is 12 month past, yellow 11 months past, white 10 months past and green for 9 months past.
I am using a continuous form and would like my users to be able to change a field background color to a light red by double-clicking. The user would also be able to change it back to white by double-clicking again.
The code I am using (below) changes the field background color for all records. I need my code to only change the field color of the current record and cannot seem to find how to do that. The field name is [System_CurrentStatus].
Private Sub System_CurrentStatus_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) If Me.System_CurrentStatus.Backcolor = vbWhite Then Me.System_CurrentStatus.Backcolor = RGB(234, 154, 160) ElseIf Me.System_CurrentStatus.Backcolor = RGB(234, 154, 160) Then Me.System_CurrentStatus.Backcolor = vbwhite End If End Sub
How to create custom menus in Forms in MS ACcess 2010. For example, I have a form fmrMainMenu. At the top of the form I want to create a menu labelled "Reports" that when clicked or hovered it displays a list of sub-menu options of all the Reports available in the database. Once the user makes a selection the report is generated. The functionality that I am looking for is similar to the old menu options like File, Edit, etc., in MS Office.
I have a form with about 30 controls. I organized it carefully so that all the controls show on a single page. It actually looks really good. However, several of the controls allow multiple values. These appear as a check box showing up beside each item in the list from which these controls take their information. When I run a Filter by Form process, the form flawlessly pulls the data from the table that I'm seeking, and the check boxes are visible, both the ones with checks and without. In a few cases, in order to fit everything onto one page, I have most of the related list hidden, and use scroll bars. This works really well for data entry and for editing individual records.
Where it DOESN'T work like I want it to is in situations where the checked item(s) in the multi-value control don't show up in the box on the form without scrolling. In the table where these multi-value fields actually live, what shows up is just the code for each option, a simple numeral, with commas separating any multiple values. Is there a way to make my form show only the selected codes like in the table? My suspicion is that I'm going to be told no, that the best way to do this is to use a report and query.
