I often create contract using mail merge. I have an access file that I want to use as data source for word file. But it does not automatically.
Please download the attached file !
If there are 1 customer and 1 property, I do not need to do anything. Conversely, if there are many customers and many properties, I take time to manipulate.
Firstly, I open the word file. I have to copy and paste paragraphs that I want. Highlight of the original paragraphs is blue.
Secondly, I click 'Insert Word Field' -> select 'Next Record'.
In short, I wish to use VBA in access file to automatically perform the steps that I have outlined.

I recently upgraded a DB from 2003 to 2013 and ran into the following problem.
I have a button that opens a file dialog box and allows the user to upload a file to a predetermined location (and store the address as a hyperlink). I borrowed this code from someone else on here and modified it slightly.
In any case, the button still works, but now when it opens it doesn't have an option for "All files" under file types. So I can upload MS Office files, text files, etc., but not PDF files which are by far the most common types my users upload.
Private Sub Command35_Click()
Dim dd As Integer
Dim fileDump As FileDialog
Set fileDump = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogOpen)
dd = fileDump.Show
Dim Yourroute As String
Dim yourrouteName
Yourroute = fileDump.SelectedItems(1)
yourrouteName = StrReverse(Yourroute)
yourrouteName = StrReverse(Mid(yourrouteName, 1, InStr(yourrouteName, "") - 1))
FileCopy Yourroute, "us170fp00dataWBO_Tool_RoomDrawings" & yourrouteName
Me.Drawing_Link = yourrouteName & " # us170fp00dataWBO_Tool_RoomDrawings" & yourrouteName
End Sub

Is it possible to open a Microsoft Word FILE using a macro(or even a query??)? I know how to open Word itself using a Macro by Selecting the Run App Command and typing in my Word address e.g C:Word.exe . I have tried opening a word file using C:filename.doc but no success, the address is correct as I've successfully opened it using Start, Run
Any help would be superb

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, but it didn't seem to fit in anywhere else.
I have a simple database, which pretty much now works as I want it to. The only element I really needs to get working is some way of producing - at the click of a button - a Microsoft Word document, elements of which are populated by fields on whichever record the database user happens to be viewing at the time.
I already have the exact layout and template of the Word document I want, but I need to be able to view any record then click one button to fill that template with the record's fields and print it, and another button to fill the template with the record's fields and save it (again, in .doc format).
Is this possible?

I have a form with various details on clients. I have 6 different letters that need to pull off different fields from the client form. Is it possible to have a button (for each letter) that when when clicked will open up the word document for the specific client with the fields on their poulated, such as name, ammount owed etc.
Mail merge does not do the trick as it brings back all the clients in the database and not the specific one.

Hi All,
I have been trying to figure this out for ages but I cant seem to get the code right or find any info on it.
In my database i have a mail merge on a button click which creates a new merged word document. I then need a way of when the user saves the document in word, bringing back the file path and putting it in a table called tblHistory with the correct customer ID in there too.
Any help appreciated
Thanks

I have fairly large Access 2003 tables and forms on my job. I am curious if I can open word document off the form by using command button. Very often I need to put info off the form to word and sent it via e-mail to clients so I every time I have to keep a lot open word documents at the same time on my computer 10 or more that is slow pc down. I would like to have like this : on specific form I have command button and when i need to work with word document , click that button that will open specific word doc and when I am done I think I need a second command button to safe and close word document and so that i can attach it to e-mail and sent it out. So every time I need to work with word doc, I can open it off the form and close it also when I am done with it so no word doc would be open unnecessarily.

I am creating a database. I have all my forms, queries, tables, reports just as I need them. However, I would like to have a command button on my switchboard that will pull from a query to feed to a Word document (that's actually a letter on my company letterhead). I know a Macro has to be involved with this, but again, I have little to no knowledge of Macros. Also, I would like to be prompted to enter a client ID number when I click on this command button (because I only want to print a letter for a new client, not all of them).

I would like to open a Word document using a button control on a form to a file path listed in a field on the form. I use the following code when I want to open a single specific document...
Dim wdApp As Word.Application, wdDoc As Word.Document
On Error Resume Next
Set wdApp = GetObject(, "Word.Application")
If Err.Number <> 0 Then 'Word isn't already running
Set wdApp = CreateObject("Word.Application")
End If
On Error GoTo 0
Set wdDoc = wdApp.Documents.Open(File path here)
wdApp.Visible = True
...but in this case the file path I want to use will be designated by a field on the form. I know I could just use a hyperlink but I don't like the way it looks on the form. I would rather hide that field and have code pull that path when I hit the button.
So how would I change my code to make it so the value in the file path field on the form goes in where it says "File path here" in my code above?

I have a Word 2010 document linked to an Access 2010 data source. When a user clicks a button in Access, the Word document loads and performs a email merge using the below VBA code:
Private Sub Document_Open()
With ActiveDocument.MailMerge
.Destination = wdSendToEmail
.SuppressBlankLines = True
[Code] ....
However, as the .mailsubject part is not in the loop it is only retrieving the first Return Code. I have tried to integrate in the loop to no avail. Also, how do I add static text to the Subject, I need something like "Your Return Code" + "Return Code"..

Hey again all!
Implementation is going fabu, but I had a request to add a button on the main form to open the HTML FAQ I wrote. I thought I would be able to quickly point the button to the file using the button creation wizard, but that doesn't seem to work so well. (not at all)
Did I miss something or is this something that needs to be coded with VBA (very little knowledge of VBA here... negligible even.)

I currently export a select query as a .dbf file to a particular location and file name. I would like to automate this procedure to a command button on click event. Does anyone know the code to do this or have another way for me to do this automatically? It would even be better if I could export this same Query to Crystal Report automatically.
Thanks for the help!
