Hello everybody, it's been a while since i wrote on the forums and yet again I am in the need to ask for the help of this wonderful community.
I have a form on which is a button that I want when pressed to open a Windows Explorer window displaying the contents of a directory.
The exact way that I want this thing to work is like this : The user is browsing a form of lets say client details and on the form lies the button that when pressed will take the client's name and apply it to the path in order to open that Windows Explorer window and create a path like C:program filesclient name and display the contents of that window.
I would like if possible someone who can point me as to how I can construct this button to work cause I cant see to get it done.
Many thanks for your time :)
I would like to be able to have a button that my firm's legal assistants can click which will automatically popup the folder on the server where the client's documents are stored. What is the easiest way to write this?
All of the sudden I get an error message when I try to open my database from a file rather than through Access. If I open Access first and open the file that way, there is no problem but if I click on it from Windows Explorer, I get the error.
I can currently open a new internet explorer instance, navigate to my URL, then use the .getElementByID to insert my preference into a textbox on the page. Looks like this:
Code: Dim oIE As Object Set oIE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") oIE.Navigate "URL of my Choice" Do While oIE.Busy Or oIE.ReadyState <> READYSTATE_COMPLETE DoEvents
I have added functionality that creates a report, saves it as a PDF, and then sends it to a customer via email as an attachment. The PDF file is saved to a folder and is named to include the Customer's unique customer number and the date and time the PDF was created.
For example, if the customer number is 09 and the date was 10th October 2013 and the time 09.00am, the file name is 0009101020130900.pdf.
What I want to be able to do from within the database is to have a button, that when clicked, will display all of the Pdf's for only customer number 09. The customer number will be based upon a field in the customer record.
Hey all I was wondering if there was anyway to open my program when windows opens, I have the XP sytem but I was also wondering if there would be a difference with windows 98... SO What i would like to accomplish is to open my access program without clicking on it when my windows, is loaded, can I open it when it loads automaticly. Does it matter that there are different users on my system or not. Thanks
Please forgive my Newbieness and accept I am a keen ametuer running a small business and trying to use access as a tool. No doubt I will be back with many questions as you all seem so knowledgeable, thanks in advance. Can't really do code but get on OK with built in wizards etc. Wonder if someone might be able to help with this one:
Is it possible to set a command into a form that opens up a windows folder elsewhere on the computer or network? For example, receive email from DIY multiple containing kitchen plan, installation costing etc, as attachments. File attachments in folder on server, manually enter detail into access database which generates "Customer ID Number", decides which fitter, surveyor etc. then need to email a report (have managed conversion to PDF and to launch outlook) but then wanted to copy and attach the original attachments to this new email, along with Access report for forwarding to various surveyors / fitters around the UK. Thus require if poss to open file on server, copy attachments and paste in new e mail, thought it would save time to do by one button press to open server file??
May seem easier to just forward original e mail but unfortunately some of the info in the mails from the DIY multiples is not for distribution and filtering isn't possible.
Perhaps one simply can't do it but worth asking, thanks again. Paul
Open a specific Windows Folder.I am using this code to open a specific Windows folder ..... and it works perfect:
As String Dim folder folder = "c: Documents WORD" Dim Retval Retval = Shell ("explorer.exe / e, / root," "" & folder & "" "", 1)
... but also need to open in the specified path, taking the data "UserName" of one field in a table:
TABLE: "Assignments" IDEExp, UserName, Date
So instead of going to the folder = "c:Documents WORD" would go to: c: Documents WORDUserName ". In Windows and subfolders are created with UserName1, 2,3,4, etc.
My application is developed in Access 2003 version. Recently we moved from Access 2003 to Access 2010. Now users are facing usability issues like - in Access 2003 all the forms are opening in different windows and they can move to forms easily. But in Access 2010 all the Forms are opening in same window, if they want to move to different forms then they need to close the current window or press ctrl+F6. How can I enable/open forms multiple window in Access 2010.
I currently have a button on a form which, when clicked, I would like to do several things:
1) Check if the folder, "folder name (1)" exists 2) If no, make it; if yes, check if the folder, "folder name (2)" exists 3) If no, make it; if yes, check if the folder, "folder name (3)" exists 4) repeat this process until a new folder is made
The code I currently have seems to not work, and makes an infinite loop
Code: Private Sub Export_Click() Dim checker As Integer Dim projPath As String checker = 1
I have a main form which is open in a maximized window (which i want to leave as it is), i have a command button which opens a form, now i want the form to open up as the size of a box i have created in the form, without altering the size of the first form. Also is it possible to move the 2nd form to the bottom left hand corner of my screem.
This is code i have so far does minimize window to what i want it to but also restores first form, which i want t leave maximized: Code: Me.InsideHeight = Me.Box15.HeightMe.InsideWidth = Me.Box15.WidthDoCmd.Restore Thanks in advance for any help, M-.

Hello, I am a researcher creating critical editions of ancient texts by collating readings from several manuscripts (i.e. different mss all contain minor differences). I create my edition in Word and use footnotes to record the variant readings. I also have a database - created from the word file - in which I can add context to each variant e.g. decisions, history etc. So I have a word file containing the text and its variants uniquely identified with a footnote reference and a database with one table and a record per variant and where the variant records are also unique and share the same number as the footnote. I would very much like to be able to open a window on my variant form which displays the word file at the correct variant (i.e. footnote reference) location. This will make it easier for me to record my assessments of the variant in the dbase while looking at where the variant occurs in the text. Obviously I don't need to see the footnote window as I have this info in the dbase. I haven't got a clue how to do this and would appreciate any pointers. Many thanks in advance, Tim
I would like to open the MS Access Window in a certain position and size.
Somehow similar to open a form when using: - to set the position and size:
Private Sub Form_Load() Form.Move Left:=11500, Top:=6500, Width:=7000, Height:=6000 End Sub
I would like to open the MS Access Window within the screen area at a certain location, and having a certain size. Is there any option in the Access Menu, or I can write some code, and where has to be written, so when I double click on the *.mdb file, the MS Access Window will open where I want and the size I want.
Is there a command that I can use to export a spreadsheet to Excel...
I could use docmd.transferspreadsheet
however that would also mean i would need an input window where users would need to manually put in the location they wish to save to...
Instead, could i not get a "SaveAs" command window or a file browser at least for them to search that way? Alternatively, If it was possible to use VBA to pop up the "Export - Excel Spreadsheet" window, that would be just as good.
I am new to VBA for access. I am working on a form as a user interface. I have added an picture to the form and it will change, according to the selection in the combobox. It looks small, and not clear because of the size, and each image has different size. I would like to know if there is a VBA code that will allow me to click on it, and then it will open in another window so it is bigger with the right sizes.
I was reading how to make a a button open a webpage. I found out how to and what to type in the Visual Basics. It worked but like another user said, when ever he clicks the button, the window opens for the website but the window is not maximized. He said "I set the open new window value to True".
I generated a pop up warning message window every time when I open a form. The problem is there are many lines information in the window. Now I want to have a Print button in the msgbox window. So the user can click that buttton to print these warning message. Is this easy to do? Any clues? Thanks.
I am using Access 2010 and creating a front-end for a customer database.
Take a look at the screen capture I added to this post.
What I want to happen is on that "Supplier" button. When I click on it, it opens a new window with the "Supplier" form and on the specific supplier for this product. There is an attached image of what that macro looks like.
The problem I am having is that I do not want the Supplier form to open in a new window, I want it to open within the Navigation Form, replacing the what is currently on the screen.
Who can tell me how to minimize Access window while it's form is on top of other open windows (e.g. other applications which are maximized like Excel). By using acCmdAppMinimize command, only the Access window is minimized and if other applications are maxmized, they will be on top. So is there any vba solution to do what I explained?
I have a database that uses a switchboard with a close button that runs several instructions before it exits. The problem is that some users have access to the database window and I need to prevent them from closing the database by hitting the X in the upper right.
I would like to have a button on my form that would update a record to a closed status, but I want to have an "Are You Sure?" window pop up first. I did a search on "verify," "verification," "sure," and several others but haven't found what I need. I looked through my Access bible, with no luck.
