I have an Access 2010 database with two tables and two forms. The tables are Organizations and People. Similarly, the forms are Organizations Entry Form and PeopleEntryForm. The People are linked to the Organizations table. Several people can be linked to the same organization.On my Organizations EntryForm, I created a command button to duplicate a record using the wizard. It works fine.
I did exactly the same thing on the PeopleEntryForm, but instead of copying the record, it creates a new blank record. I don't get any error messages. Is my problem due to the fact that the People table is linked to the Organizations table?
How can I add a password to a button, i.e. whenever someone clicked on this button he has to enter a password in order to proceed to the form which the button opens?
Hi, i have a slight problem that i could really do with some help on. I have a form in which u can edit/add or delete details of a record. What i would like to do is when someone presse's the delete button i would like a box to pop up asking for a password to be entered before the record is deleted just to prevent certain records from being deleted.
On a "delete record" command button I want to put a password prompt so when you press it, it will only allow you to delete the record if a password is entered.
I have created a database where my boss wants a password on the one button to limit access. Is this possible. The button actually opens the Database Window (no one else knows the bypass to open it F11)
Being dealing with my database and having quite some trouble with it. Is it possible to track down what the users did, during the time they login into, database, is it possible to prompt users for password and username when they buttons for like, delete cmd, or update command.
Just a breif idea on what im trying to do.(hopefully it won't confused you all) Im trying to created a 2 main username. One is for admin group and another is for users group. Then users can login in to database, however whenever the users update or delete entries in the database, the user will prompt for their username and password (not the users group login ). Is it possible to build a table to store in the username and password for the prompting purposes one.
Sorry for confusing question. Actually im trying to think of another way, but for now this complicated event all i have think of. Feel free to voice your suggestion here. Thanks alot. TQ
Hi All, I have three excel files (ActualHires.xls, ActualPromotions.xls and ActualSeparation.xls). These are password protected files (with the same password). They are linked to an access database and whenever the files are opened, one must supply the password and click the 'Enable automatic refresh button.' What I was wondering was if this could be done in access with a command button. I have pasted some code below that I found but now I'm getting an error. This is the code:
For B = LBound(BookNames) To UBound(BookNames) WorkBooks.Open FileName:=BookNames(B), _ UpdateLinks:=3, Password:="*******" WorkBooks(B).Close SaveChanges:=False Next B
But when I click the button, I get this error: Run-time error '9' Subscript out of range.
and this line is highlighted: WorkBooks(B).Close SaveChanges:=False
I have a form in which I collect approvals from two different departments. To approve an item the user selects their name from a combobox, and then tick an option box to indicate approval. The combobox is from table 'Users' and has a query as a source with the following fields, 'UserNum, First, Last, Password'. The 'approval' fields are on table 'Approvals' and are yes/no fields.
What I'd like to have happen is that the user chooses their name from the combobox and then ticks the option box for approval; when ticked I would like a messagebox to appear asking for the users password based on the name chosen in the combobox.
I was trying to incorporate the changes suggested by a member of this forum into my Form. I opened the Form in Design View. I clicked the Command Button and placed the mouse at the insertion point. The command button also appeared. Thereafter, nothing happened. Earlier, whenever I placed a command button, it asked for action to be performed in relation to that command button. But now nothing happens and I don't know what to do. Please tell me how I can bring back the feature. Thanks.
I just created my very first db... I used the wizzard to create it most of it, including command buttons that permit you to move from the one form to another form/report. I saved the db to a shared drive (two people total accessing/updating it) only to find that the command buttons don't work for her. I created the db in 2003, but she has 2007. If I upgrade to 2007 and convert the db, could this solve the problem? THANKS!!
When i am clicking on refresh button the query which is generated by drop downs is not updating in the form, but it was updating in the query table. How can i refresh the query on the form where drop downs are..my code is
forms![Opening]![RepQuery].Requery
where Opening is my form name, repquery is the query which i generated in form.
I have a cancel button on an add new record form and its not working for some reason. When I press cancel it prompts if I really want to cancel and when I press yes it cancels the record creation BUT it adds a number to the recordID autonumber as if one has been created. Is there anyway to stop this? Here is my code
Option Compare Database Private Sub Cancel_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Cancel_Click If Me.Dirty = True Then
I have created an accdb file and saved as an accde file. The accde file opens with a form with command buttons. But the commands buttons do not work with the accde file (they do work with the accdb file). How do I get them working.
I have an Access 2007 database which has a form on which is a button to dial the currently selected phone number. All works fine. My intention is to send out partial databases to people not having access installed and they will use the access runtime module.
When the same database is run using the runtime it does not dial and does not give an error message. It just stays the same as though I didn't press the dial button.
I have two command buttons in a subform "sbfScoutRegDetails", one that launches a report and the other attaches the report pdf to an email, associated with the record ID when clicked.
Both of these buttons work fine when just the subform itself is open, but when viewing it in its main form, I get a window saying 'enter parameter value' for "Forms!sbfScoutRegDetails!ID" (this is the WHERE condition in the macro).The report then opens with all the record information blank.The full WHERE condition
Code:
[ID]=[Forms]![sbfScoutRegDetails]![ID]
Not sure if it's because of using a continuous form as a subform? I need the user to be able to view/print or email a contract to each group/contact that signs up.
All I am trying to do is insert to have a form with a "Delete Record" button on it. The problem is I don't want anyone to be able to delete a record, I would like someone to have to insert a password to confirm the delete.
I have recently split my database and added a password to the back end. I am now trying to re-link the tables as I have seen in other threads, but when I do this I am not prompted for the password I just get the message 'Not a valid password'
I must obviously be doing something wrong, can anyone help?
Firstly thank you for your help, this should be a simple one I hope, but is cracking my head on the wall. Have searched and searched and can't find an answer.
I have an Access Db that is not password protected, but is asking for a password. It opens on any other machine fine?
I think my version of Access is playing funny buggers with me, any suggestions?
I was trying to implement some security on this Db, which is why it happened I'm sure. I ran the security wizard, set-up two users and admin with passwords, I have the output file to "recreate" something too.
Issue is, I then copied this Db to another computer for use on there, it worked without a Password, so didn't need to worry about it, now I can't open any Db on my machine??
