Can Documenter Print Table Definitions On Continuous Pages?

Apr 24, 2015

I have several tables and the default layout is one table per page. In some cases, there are a couple of fields...a waste of paper. Can this be changed?

I'm working with getting a 3 page report to print/create PDF of the 3 pages. Right now I have the formatting set up for the 3 pages but each is an individual report. Is there a way to combine the reports into a single report? I've been messing around with subreports but can't get it to display correctly.

Update Linked Table Definitions

Apr 27, 2005

If a front-end database has links to many tables in a back-end database and the back-end is moved, is there an easy way to update all the table links in the front-end in one go, or do you have to set up all the links again one at a time?

Hoping there's a quick way...

Dave

edit: just realised the previous post asks exactly the same thing ( :o ), but that hasn't elicited a solution yet ( :( ).

Modules & VBA :: Restrict Printing Rights To Users - Print Blank Pages

Feb 10, 2014

I've been asked to make sure only certain users in my database are able to print anything (i.e. Administrators). Is there any option/property to do this?

I have already built in User Access controls using the ctl.Tag property. The only way I can think off the top of my head is when a 'general user' uses it, to ensure that every control is displayed 'on screen only'. This of course doesn't stop them printing - just makes them print blank pages!

Modules & VBA :: Loop Through Access Databases And Get Table Definitions

Mar 9, 2014

I have 192 databases that I need to redact certain information in certain columns. Generally, I'm looking for field names like name, first name, last name, address, address2, shipping address, mailing address, and phone numbers. Not sure how to get this information without going into every database and every local table inside the databases. Is there a way to get this information programmatically and just access the databases and table that I need to redact info in?

Forms :: Filter Combobox Continuous Form And Print

Mar 3, 2014

I have almost completed creating a continuous form which I want users to be able to filter though the records based on to/from date, badgenum and a response string.

I then want to have a button, btnSelect, that will select the remaining records and open a report based off only the remaining records.

1.) Everything on the continuous form works except when trying to filter a combo box, cboBadge, field name "BadgeNum". BadgeNum is data type "short text". I have modified the code below from the following Allen Browne link. It keeps throwing a debug on me.Filter = strWhere at the bottom of the btnFilter sub.

2.) As far as the btnSelect and printing remaining records, I guess I'm not sure where to start.. I currently have another print button that will print individual records only which works fine.

[URL] ....

Code:
Private Sub btnFilter_Click()
Dim strWhere As String 'The criteria string.
Dim lngLen As Long 'Length of the criteria string to append to.
Const conJetDate = "#mm/dd/yyyy#" 'The format expected for dates in a JET query string.

[Code] ....

Documenter Stopped Displaying Object Properties

Aug 9, 2006

Hello,
I've searched MSFT, this forum and Googled it with no success. My first post, I hope this is correct section.

Sometime in past few days Access Documenter will only display object name regardless of what properties are selected in the Options menu. Selections always default to back to "Nothing" after trying viewing. It is not related to any specific.MDB file. Have tried with more than 12.

Uninstalled and reinstalled Access and Office. Did not correct the problem.

When using Documenter (located on another computer on the network) for the same database(s) it works fine. So it is machine specific. Running XP with all current updates and Office 2003 with SP2.

Any help or suggestions willl be greatly appreciated.

Exporting Definitions

Aug 16, 2007

I see that we can export a table, definitions only, from the master (developer) db into a client's (runtime) db.

But if there are relationships in the table, the export fails (Access 2003). How do we get around this problem?

And if the client's db is on another computer system, ie. remote from the developer, how do we import the new and amended definitions into the client's db?

Access Controls Definitions

May 24, 2007

Hi

I am looking for a book or poster or something that can show me all the access controls and what they do. My VB.NET version came with several posters. I have looked at many books but can not find one that enumerates and explains all of them. I would also like to get similar information for the Active X controls included with access.
Thanks

Continuous Subform That Retrieves Data From One Table And Saves To A Different Table

Mar 8, 2012

I have a Traits table that has fields TraitKey and Trait and I'm looking for the subform to show one record for each trait so that I can give the employee a score for each trait.

I'm trying to save that score in an EmployeeTraitScores table that has the fields EmpID, Trait, Score.

If I bind the subform to the traits field, the continuous form shows each one properly but then I don't know how to save to the scores to the EmployeeTraitScores table.

If I bind the subform to the EmployeeTraitScores table then it can save a record but I can only get the Dlookup to show the first trait.

Continuous Forms And Querying Another Table

Jan 23, 2006

I have a continouus form that queries a table and displays various fields on the form. For each record in the master table displayed on the continous form I also need to show the result of a calculation in an unbound field.

The calculation needs to be based on the Count of the rows of a particular type in another table. This other table will have many different types of record - and I have a query that returns the count. This query is based on a SQL WHERE clause that is fed in a value from a field in the master table. To be concret a field in the master table has the name ID_component. This field has to be then used in the query to determine how many rows in this other table has a type of ID_component. From what I can tell right right now is that the query which is triggered from a combo box in the form is not getting the ID_component value on a record by record basis.

My question therefore is whether using continous forms one can get an unbound field to do a query on another tabel when the query has to be fed in a parmeter from a field in the original tabel?

If this is not possible - any ideas on how I can achieve something similar to I can obtain a count of rows and feed it into a continous form

thanks in advance

John

Print Table Structure?

Oct 10, 2005

Hi all,

a simple question: is it possible to print out the table structure in Access? The information I'm interested to print on paper is FieldName, DataType, maybe Format, Required and Description (or Caption). I may be asking something silly here but I really didn't find "how to" (tried to search both Help and Google...)

Thanks in advance,

Forms :: DLookup To (print) Another Table's Value

Mar 29, 2013

I have two tables each containing fields Brand, Form, Area. Table 1 has some other information that needs to be gathered (data entry) and Table 2 is just a reference table for changes to these areas. This reference table has an additional field labeled area point value which is the value I want to "print".

The form is based off of Table 1 and has all of the fields I want the users to input. Stripped down, I have three combo boxes for the user to choose Brand, Form, and Area...I also have an unbound textbox control where I want the area point value to based off of the value of the three aforementioned boxes.. I believe this can be achieved with a lookup but I've never actually used a lookup in a control this complex before...

Forms :: Rota Table - Continuous Type Form In Tab Control

Oct 23, 2013

I am mid way through a Access db and have a solid idea what i want from a form. The idea is for a rota display and edit form.

a tab control with 5 tabs (-2 weeks, -1 week, current week, + 1 week, + 2 weeks) and when the user clicks it lists all the employees (Employee Table) with any found rota entrys (Rota Table) populating into a text box type table with employees information blank where no rota information has been entered.

then the user can edit / add shift information from that table and hit save.

the main rota information is inputted by an excel import but this is done once a month and adhoc changes will be needed (holidays absence etc)

the only thing i found like what i want is a continuous form (which ive never used before but been told that wont go in a tab control)

How i would accomplish this (code snippets - doesnt have to be detailed just the fundamental functions so i can add modify to suit the information the sql's i already have its just the form controls.)

Forms :: Storing Small Icons In A Table For Use In Continuous Form

Nov 29, 2013

I searched without success for a solution to show small pictures (icons) in a table field to show up in a continous form.

Purpose is:
a communication log table has comm codes such as
- mail out
- mail in
- tel call in
- tel call out

the comm log table has the fields
CustomerID, datetime, CommCode

The CommCode table hast the fields
CommID, CommCode, Icon

The form (subfrm) should show in continous form mode to each customer..Datetime, (commCode), and to visualize the Commcode the small image (icon) presented by an envelope with an arrow right, an envelope with an arrow left, etc.

I cannot find a solution for storing those little images and retrieving them from an OLE-Field.All my other pictures I do not have stored in the tables, but only the image path, but for that I would prefer to store them directly into a table field as they do not blow up the database.
