I have the below code that when a user will make a change in a combo box, it will pop up a message asking if they want to do so (to make them aware of it). How could I change it so there is a extra button cancel and when they hit cancel, the combo box will keep the value, if OK is hit, then make the change.
Code:
If Me.Business = "TYPE 1" And Me.Case = "Sent Email" Then
MsgBox ("You really want to change this!!!")
End If

I want to close a form and I am using
Private Sub Form_Close()
Application.Quit
End Sub
as the form opens with the access application window hidden, and I found that the .ldb file didn't close if I simply used the X.
I have a series of fields with validation rules which activate on exit. One of these validation rules is in the box which gets focus when the form opens. This means that I get the validation text error message boxes when I close the form with the X.
If I have started to complete the form, I get a whole host of error messages and validation messages when I try to shut it with the X.
Is there a way of closing the form and cancelling or ignoring all error message boxes. I want the user to be able to close the form if they have decided not to fill it in after all, or have got part way through and want to cancel.
I would really appreciate any help, I am sure this is a very basic question and I should probably be able to find the answer, but I can't and I am very fed up!

Ok, I have a delete query that I use to delete records form a table. I have created a form that I run that query from. It has Delete button that runs the query. After I get the message that says "You are about to delete 56 records" and I click No, I get a "run-time error '3059'. Operation Cancel by user"
I did some searching on the forum and thought I could trap this error. But I still continue to get the error at
"DoCmd.OpenQuery stDocName, acNormal, acEdit"
What am I doing wrong and how can I prevent this error from appearing when I click NO or cancel the operation.
Private Sub cmdDelete_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_cmdDelete_Click
Dim stDocName As String
stDocName = "qryDeleteRecords"
DoCmd.OpenQuery stDocName, acNormal, acEdit
Exit_cmdDelete_Click:
Exit Sub
cmdDelete_Error:
Select Case Err.Number
Case 3059
MsgBox "You have canceled the delete operation.", vbOKOnly, "Delete Canceled"
Exit Sub
Case Else
MsgBox "Error number: " & Err.Number & " has occurred. " & Err.Description, vbOKOnly, "Error"
End Select
Err_cmdDelete_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_cmdDelete_Click
End Sub

I have a main form + subform bound by a RecordSource/Requery everytime something changes in the mainform.
In my subform I've got a save button to save/update the information in my subform.
As I wanted to avoid the ACCESS default behavior that updates/add records each time you do some action, I decided, as advised in some of the threads, to add "Cancel = True" in the "BeforeUpdate" event on my subform each time the Save button was not pressed.
Unfortunately, this causes a side-effect when I need to update the RecordSource of the subform because the "BeforeUpdate" event is activated, the "Cancel = True" is triggered (because I didn't press the Save button) and then I end up with this error:
Run-time error '2107' The value you entered doesn't meet the validation rule defined for the field or control
Before I implemented the "Cancel true", my ResordSource statement was working.
Does the "Cancel true" has some impact on something else ?? Any ideas ?? :confused:
Cheers.
Fab.

I have a form and a subform in it. I added New cancel button in the form so that the the user can cancel the record creation and no record will be inserted in the parent table.
But when details are entered in the subform (a datasheet) row records will be created in the subform table. what is the correct method or how to cancel these records if the user choose to click cancel button on the parent form.

Does anybody know what this error message refers to?
"Reserved Error (-1517); there is no message for this error."
It just started happening today, and I haven't even made any changes to the database. It occurs when I hit a button I have to run a macro.
the macro does the following:
1) Shows all records
2) Requery
3) ApplyFilter.
The Where Condition for the filter is:
Right([tblContracts].[JobNum],4)=Right([Forms]![FrmContProc].[txtFindJobNum],4)
The weird thing is that it only occurs if the Form window is taller than 1/2 of my viewable area. If the Form window is 1/2 the viewable area or shorter, it works OK. This was running fine earlier today, but about 4:00 pm (03/31/06) this started happening.
If anybody knows what this error means, or how to get rid of it (I really need to use this window in full-screen) then please let me know.
-Thanks, Sean

I have a table that keeps crashing. The only error message I get is "Invalid Argument". Each time, a single record will turn into "#Error". Each field says this in the row. When this happens, Access won't let me delete just that row,
Any ideas how to delete them?

I am trying to Right Join two queries which are basically from the same exact table, but when I do that I get the following error.
ODBC--called failed.
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] The column prefix 'MS1' does not match with a table name or alias name used in the query. (#107).
The following is a copy of my SQL
SELECT PqryExpiredPolicy.Policy_Number, PqryExpiredPolicy.Orig_Exp_Date, PqryExpiredPolicy.Insured_Key, PqryNewPolicy.Policy_Number, PqryExpiredPolicy.Name
FROM PqryNewPolicy RIGHT JOIN PqryExpiredPolicy ON PqryNewPolicy.Insured_Key = PqryExpiredPolicy.Insured_Key;
I have looked for this MS1 and cannot find it. Any ideas where I should be looking or what this means?

hi,
the below scrip was taken from another forum member.
i have put this in the Forms / error VBA
but i still a little lost
i have set 3 fields to be indexed not to allow duplicate information (Forename, Surename, DOB)
i was then advised to error trap so it would highlight that i have enterd a duplicate record on typing in the DOB (As that as third feild to be entered)
so i then used the below script, however this doesnt highlight that it is a duplicate it just doesnt let me go on to the next record, the only time the error message is highlighted is when i go into design mode.
anyideas on where to go from here.
Private Sub Form_Error(DataErr As Integer, Response As Integer)
If DataErr = 3022 Then
Response = acDataErrContinue
MsgBox "Tis MerID alredy exist!"
Exit Sub
End If
If DataErr = 2169 Then
Response = acDataErrContinue
MsgBox "Tis record will not be saved!"
Exit Sub
End If
End Sub

I have an Access project that when it starts, lets you pick a folder and a file to open as input (done with VBA code), and that works beautifully. My project then processes the opened file and that works fine also. However, when I run the project a second time, pick another file (with the same format), my project then dies on me. If I get completely out of my project and thenre-enter it, it runs fine. I've enclosed a screenshot of the error I'm getting.
Any help is greatly appreciated. And yes, I did a search on this and several other forums as well as on Microsoft's site and could not find anything related to the error I'm getting.
