Well hello everyone. I'm building some queries that need to have a specific Top N amount read from a value in a table (or form). Can someone please tell me how to do that without using the query Top N drop-down? I have this built into a VBA module, so it's possible I can change the Top N from there. Thanks!
In my database I have 2 tables that contains values I would like to add if a check box is marked.
Table 1 columns: JobID;JobNumber; Product; Qty.
Table 2 columns: COrderID, JobNumber, QtyChanged, Accepted(Accepted has the check box).Also, there are multiple records for each job number based on how many change orders will be.
I would like to change the value of Qty on Table1 with the values of QtyChanged from Table2 only if the checkbox is marked.
I have a main form with a control that can take one of three values. And I would like to add a subform that work as follows.
Selecting each value should change what the subform displays like this. Control Subform A Select * from TableA where Key = "A" B Select * from TableB where Key = "B" C Disable subform somehow because it doesn't apply
Could someone please provide some advice on how I could do this.
What I'm trying to do is make it so that a certain area of my Detail area in my report changes colors based on whether or not a field name for each record is set to "Yes". The effect I wanted was produced easily enough by creating a Rectangle, coloring it Red, and setting it to not visible.
Putting RedBox.Visible = True in the Report On Load procedure works just fine. The problem I am having is attaching a condition to it.
Code:
If Me.FormatBox.Value = "Yes" Then RedBox.Visible = True End If
This compiles ok, but doesnt do anything to the actual report. Will it not work because the report has x amount of FormatBox's because it gets replicated for each record that is displayed? I should also note that I tried using a DL Lookup within my If statement and that didnt work either. That just colors all the boxes red and ignores the check.
Code: Dim TestVar As String TestVar = DLookup("Priority", "Table_Lancaster_Dispatch", "Priority = 'Yes'") If TestVar = "Yes" Then RedBox.Visible = True End If
I am trying to come up with a simple way for users to query the database and pull back entries relating to the (potentially vague) data they input.
I know how to run a query based upon data input in a form ("=[Forms]![FormName]![FieldName]"), and I know I can do this several times in one query.
However, if one of the fields is blank, the query doesn't return anything.
Is there a way to use only one query, but still allow the user to leave search criteria blank? The only thing I can think of is by using a very convoluted VB script and creating a query for each possible combination of criteria.
It's not an error-checking issue, either, as entering info into all of the fields isn't required.
For reference, the searchable fields are: Agent Name, Beginning Date, Ending Date (intended for a date range), Request Type, and District Name.
A user could then search for any requests made by an Agent; any requests by an agent within a date range; any requests made by anyone in a date range; ad nauseum.
There are quite a few combinations, there, and I'd rather not create a query for each one (or code the VB conditionals to choose the right one).
I hope I'm clear in what I'm trying to accomplish :o
Greetings! This forum has been most helpful to a rusty Access user.
I'm creating a student group score entry form, having problems with creating the form I want. Say for example we have the following: 1. Three groups: A,B, and C. 2. Group A has 5 students, Group B has 3, and Group C has 20.
I want a form where I can select group A, and a list of the students will populate and enable me to enter scores for all of them on the same page. This will save time not having to re-enter the information for so many students. If anyone has a clue of what I'm talking about or is willing to lend me aid, I would appreciate it.
I'm getting seriously frustrated with Access now so I hope some of you can help me out.
I have made an access application to enter various types of products (eg paint, tools, glue etc). The organization I have built this for has asked me to create a report which can be used as a catalogue of all their products.
They want this report to keep different categories of products in different sections. So say the paints will go into a section with an orange background and the tools have a blue background. I thought I could just let it print a number of reports (one for each type of product) however this will give problems with the page numbering and indexes etc.
Anyone have any ideas how I can let the lay-out (mainly colors) change if a new category kicks in and also force this category to start on a new page? Any help is very much appreciated!
Newbie here. Just trying to make a characteristic (e.g., color) of a button change based upon contents of a form field. Can anyone please adivise. All help is greatly appreciated.
I have a form with a combobox, textbox, a button and a listbox.
Currently the button checks if the textbox is empty and if it is, it runs a SQL query to select data using the combobox value in the where clause, else it selects data using the textbox value in the where clause
I need to be able to type or select values in both controls and use those values in the SQL query as a where.
Can you have a form that will make a cosmetic change base on the value of a field?
So I have a Member's Detail form and I would like the form to look a little different (say header background a different color) based on the member type. Is this possible?
I have a form and I want the dates to be displayed based on predefined time. In this case, I want my form to show present date from present day's 7:00 AM to next day 7:00 AM.
I have a form where I am capturing StartTime and EndTime of certain events. I have set the input mask as 99:00 >LL;0;_
My users think it is too much to enter am or pm. What they want is the system to calculate the am pm based on the time entered.
If the time entered is between 8:00 to 11:59, the system should save it as 11:59 am and if the time entered is between 12:00 to 7.00, the system should save it as 7.00 pm.
I have a database with 200 clients. If a user pulls up a record and the customer's insurance has expired, is it possible to change the background color of the form so that this automatically alerts the user that this customer needs to be contacted and the record needs to be updated?
Or are there any other suggestions that may serve the same purpose?
Hi I am running Access 97 and I was wondering if it was possible to change the colour(background or text) of a single record based on an attribute
I was hoping that my subform, viewing all of the records (datasheet) would look like this based on Task Des column eg Condition = red, Awaiting = Blue (Below is ment to look like an access datasheet view)
Property No | Task Des | MCU/ROL PN1234/DA1 | Condtion | MCU PN1235/DA2 | Condtion | ROL PN1994/DA1 | Awaiting | MCU
I have a form where customer data is entered. one field serves as a criteria for a query. If, for example, A is selected in the form the query uses the criteria "A" in the X field f query. However, if B is selected in the form, the query uses the criteria "B" in Y field of query.
I can easily do this by setting up two queries and having criteria A run in X field of query and similarly for B. However, it seems as if there should be a way for me to have one query and simply use the criteria in a different field.So, is there VBA that will update a given query's SQL to use one criteria in one case and another critiera in another case?
So I have a combobox that pulls values from a table. I am being requested to do an update to the database which means that I have to filter some values on that combobox based on a field on a previous form.For example:The main form is called "frmcontacts" and has a table field called "txttypeofcustomer" which can have two values: "customer" or "dealer".
The form that contains the combobox is called "frmnewissue" the combobox is called "cmbissuetype". "frmNewIssue" is opened through a button on "frmContacts". This combobox pulls the values from a table "tblissuetype". The values in that combobox are then: "Repair" "Return" "Question" "Replace".
If the value on txtTypeofCustomer is "Dealer" then all the values for the combobox remain visible. If the value of txtTypeOfCustomer is "Customer" then "Replace" cannot be visible or has to be greyed out.
I need a query's field to change to what is selected in a combo box.
Example,
I select product 1 in the combo box on a continuous form, after the update there is a requery. The form now displays the data from product 1.
I have tried putting [forms]![form1]![combo1] into the field box of the query. But this only makes the form display "product 1" in every row, it does not take any data from the table.
I have been looking some information on changing image based on form combo box selection on form.
I manage to do case by case but i need it in a simple code because their will be many employees just to avoid adding case by case code for each one.
Private Sub Emp_IDCombo_AfterUpdate() Select Case Emp_IDCombo.Value Case "AM-001" Imageholder.Picture = "C:UsersAMGDesktopam-001.jpg" Case "AM-002" Imageholder.Picture = "C:UsersAMGOne DocumentsHR & Admin DatabaseEmployee Picturesam-002.jpg" End Select
I have employees table where all images location is saved in text field and i have a combo box on form which is employee id.
Tables relationship Employees_table [PK] to Contracts_table [FK] via field name {emp_ID}
Fields Name Combo Box name on form Emp_IDCombo and row source is SELECT Employees_table.Emp_ID, Employees_table.EmployeeName, Employees_table.Emp_Pics FROM Employees_table;
Text field is located in employees_table called [Emp_Pic] for images location.
I have two combo boxes in the form header and command buttons in the form detail. The combos allow the user to select either a customer or a prospect, then the command buttons open forms that only show records pertaining to the customer or prospect selected. Combos are "4Custcbo" and "4Proscbo".
1.How do I change which command buttons are available depending on whether the user has selected a customer or a prospect? Do I use two different subforms or is there a better way?
2.How do I hide the other combo box once the user has selected either a customer or a prospect?
I would like to change the Font and background color based on dates.
-I have a text box (Training Event) on a form populated from a field (Training Dates) in a query.
- I need the font and/or the background in that text box to change to red when the date is 12 month past, yellow 11 months past, white 10 months past and green for 9 months past.
How do I conditionally change the Back Color and Alternate Back Color based on the value of notes.FollowUpDate? I have a continuous form using the following code:
Code: Private Sub b_all_past_Click() Me.resultsFrame.SourceObject = "FollowUp_bystaff" Me.resultsFrame.Form.RecordSource = "SELECT * From notes WHERE (((Notes.FollowUpDate) < Date()+1) And ((Notes.followup_person_id) = GetCurrentUserId()))ORDER BY notes.priority,(notes.FollowUpDate) DESC;" ' End Sub
I would like to change the background color of a field that is the result of a Unique Values query. I am trying to get a list of invoices where all the line items are approved. I can't seem to get it to work the way I want because if even one invoice line item is approved it will show up as approved.
Is there a way to change the background color of the invoice field to red if ANY of the Approved line items are = False
