View RepliesHi.
I have a main table (with other tables related to it).
It has the 255 max number of fields. (I know... But bear with me.)
ANyway, I need to change some field's size to smaller sizes. But if I try to change them, even 1 at a time, I get the cannot do because I have too many fields defined.
Ideas???

I am creating a form and I have some fields I don't want people being able to change so I selected to disable them in the datasheet but now the labels have a strange double text, it looks different than all the other labels and is driving me nuts. when I enable it the font on the label goes back to what the others are but once I change it to disabled it goes funky again. how do I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to change a label caption in a report depending the value of a numeric field.
=IIf([55]=8,[Label176].[Caption]="Spring Term",[Label176].[Caption]="Summer Term")
[55] is the numeric field.
I get a type mismatch error.

I have a form that contains a blank text box for each field in a record. Until very recently it functioned correctly for years. Lately data enterers tried to fill a ten character field with five characters (ANNNN format, example X9999). Some records require an entry in this text box, some do not, so their field is left blank. Lately when a new entry is tried in this field, only the first three characters are accepted, blocking character four through ten from being entered. It acts as if the text length for this text box has been changed to three characters, but it is still the correct length in the Properties box.
The system keeps track of clients who have attended a nutrition education class and the form involved is the location the class was taught.
I have n horizontal labels named Label_1 to Label_n. I'd like to assign values to the label captions by using a loop.
Something like:
For i = 1 To n
Set Label_i.Caption = i
End
However, this doesn't work. Message "Object required".
Any suggestions?
Hello,
Is there a way to make the text in a label smaller than size 8?
I need to put some text on a form, but it's too large for the limited amount of space I have.
Thank you.
Will keeping your field size shorter result in a smaller MDB file?
Or does Access only use as much space as there is real data in its fields.
Way back in the dBASE III days, dBASE would pad all your "real" information with as many spaces as necessary to fill up your field. I suspect that the MDB structure is probably smarter than that.
Another question on the same topic - I believe there is a maximum number of characters in a record (4000?). Can your field sizes add up to more than 4000, as long as the actual data, all combined, never totals 4000...?
Thanks............

Ok what I would like to do is have a switchboard with a number of command buttons on, each button opens to a form with a few fields within them.
Is it possible for the initial switchboard labels to be 'red', then as the related form is opened and populated the switchboard label turns 'amber' and once the form is complete the switchboard label is 'green'. See example piccie attached, to get a better understanding!
This is to enable multiple users to see at a glance the status of various jobs.
If anyone knows how I can go about this or suggest any alternatives, I'm open to suggestion.
Thanks in advance

Option group name: OptionCarrier
Options: Option1, Option2 and Option3
Labels:Land, Sea and Air
Thanks for the help - John
I have several forms that each has a dozen or more checkboxes, true/false. I want to be able to change the background color of the label of each checkbox depending on if the checkbox is true or false. I have used the following code which works great:
If Me.A = True Then
Me.lblA.BackColor = vbYellow
Me.lblA.BackStyle = 1
Me.lblA.ForeColor = vbRed
Else
Me.lblA.BackColor = vbWhite
Me.lblA.ForeColor = vbBlack
End If
Me.A refers to T/F checkbox A and Me.lblA refers to its label. This is repeated for each of the checkbox controls. If the control is [B], then its label is lblB. I have used this in the form OnCurrent event and the checkbox control OnUpdate event. I was wondering if I could use the tag property to this, saving me writing countless lines of code and having the OnCurrent event of each of the forms so long and cumbersome. And I do know that I can use conditional formatting to do this, but I would prefer not to use that method. Is there any way to do this using the tag property and not so many lines of code?
I have a Menu form that has 5 cmdbuttons that opens the same main forms but with 5 different filters. I want a label or text box to change to the name of the filter. I am using VBA to open the form. I can't code a form that's not open yet. Is there any way to accomplished the above?
View 14 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to use a toggle button to change the colour of a label?
I assume the code should be something like this:
Code:
If Me.ToggleButton = 1 Then
Label.BackColor = RGB(0, 255, 0)
ElseIf Me.ToggleButton = 0 Then
Label.BackColor = RGB(255, 255, 255)
End If
But I've tried it in the "On Click" sections and it doesn't work.
I've got a report that spits out a barcoded label for items on my inventory. What I'd like to know, is if there is a way in 2010 to allow the user to select where on the page for the label to print.
I found a way that looks like it worked for 2007, but it required enabling ADO, which I am not able to do on my work computer.
I'm using a label as a button so it looks nicer, but if I press it without officially exiting the last text field I was in, then that text field doesn't update, so the vba believes it's blank or whatever it was.
I could manually setfocus to a couple different fields or have a teeny field thats hard to see to set focus to, but these both seem roundabout.
Good afternoon. I am brand new to posting on this forum but I have been using this forum for help since I started my new job and I would like to start off with thanking you all for that. :)
Now onto my problem:
I am currently trying to create a form in Access 2003 that can be easily read and seen because it will eventually be used as a touch screen interface. I have several text boxes on this form that simply display a counter's value that is updated by a neighboring updown control. The text displayed within the textbox is just the value of the updown control. This updown control is more specifically a Microsoft UpDown Control ver. 6.0 (SP4). Due to this interface ultimately being used as a touch screen, each and every button needs to be large enough so fingers can easily touch only one button at a time.
My problem is that I do not know how to change the size of the actual Up/Down buttons on this updown control. I can alter the height, yet I can not alter the width of these vertically oriented buttons. If anyone knows how to correct this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. The sites I looked through that deal with Visual Basic reference do not deal with resizing the updown buttons, but with other properties of the updown controls. Thank you for your time and assistance.
I tried this code to change the label to display the full name of the state on the form. Is there a shorter way than putting 49 more states after the if?
[CODE]Private Sub cmdStates_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmChurchesAll"
DoCmd.ApplyFilter "qryFindState"
lblTxtSt = txtState
If txtState = "FL" Then
lblTxtSt = "Florida"
End If
lblTxtSt.BackColor = 15658720
lblTxtSt.Visible = True
lblStatesof.Visible = True
lbAllChurches.Visible = False
End Sub /CODE]

I'm running MS Access 2003. My SQL editing window has a really small font size. How do I change this window's default font size? Is it in tools or options?
Help!!!!!!! I'm going blind!!!!!!:confused:
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being willing to help out!!
I hope I can explain this clearly.
I have a subform that has a lot of information and I was wondering
if there is a way to make the subform appear as if one turned up the
resolution, thus making it's contents smaller, allowing me to pack more info
in it. I would love to leave the size of the main form alone.
I'm using Access 2000.
The sub form is currently displayed as datasheet.
how to make my form controls change size / position as my form is resized / loaded on a computer with a different resolution. Several of the tutorials out there suggest putting code on the "on resize" property of the form. When I looked at the Northwind database to try to mimic their code however, it looks like they must be doing something different as there is no on resize code under the form properties and I was unable to find the code they do use.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it's possible to link a label on a form so that it automatically displays the contents of a field in a corresponding record?
eg I have a form for the rental of DVDs. On the form is a Text box labeled "RentalID", one for the "MemberID", both from my table "tbl_Rental". Below is the contents of a table displaying the dvds rented out for that rentalID. Is it possible to have a label or a piece of text that automatically displays the calculated field from a query that has that member's fullname in it?
I'd be most grateful
thx

Hi.
I am trying to get a text label to only be visible if the values of 2 other form objects are of a specific value.
This is what I've been trying to do after VAT is changed:
=IIf([Forms]![Jobs]![JobCategoryList]=2 AND [Forms]![The Sale]![VAT]=0.175, [VATWarning].Visible=-1,[VATWarning].Visible=0)
But, it just isn't working.
If anyone can spot the problem in the mess of code I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Martin
I previously used an older Access version under XP, but I switched to Windows 7 (64-bit) and Access V10. In general, most everything appears to work as expected, but I can't be sure because I have not gotten past the "previously simple" task of making a simple label !!!!
When I construct a LABEL layout, if I use ONLY one field per line, everything appears to work OK.When I put MORE than one field per line, the additional lines are "accepted", but when I click "finished" to preview the finished labels, I get an #error on every line that has more than one field, but the lines with only one field print out as expected.If I then go into the DESIGN mode, each line with more than one field displays:
=Trim([field-x] & " " & [field-z]), where the " " is related to the space I place between field-x and field-z.
During this process I also get a box with the message "Enter Parameter Value", and below that is the text, "Trim", with a box in which to insert some kind of "parameter". I have absolutely no clew what to put into the "box", and no where in the 812 page, "The Missing Manual" is the question answered.I have wasted approximately five hours trying to solve this issue, including google searches for potential answers, some of which seem reasonable, but do not work when implemented. At this point I am ready to trash ACCESS and move on to some other process.
I have a query that consists of three fields. This query is then placed in a form. I would like to set the physical length of my fields because one field consists of 4 digit numbers (I want the size of this to be relatively small) and the other two field consist of categories (field that need more space so that the user may see each letter of the category) Please help.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've done some searches on this, and wasn't able to find an answer--just a hint that this isn't possible. So, I'm asking to be sure.
I know there is a limit to field size at 255--but is there ANY way around that?? I'm transferring a file where some fields have a lot of information, usually not more than 255, but what's there HAS to be there.
If there's no way around it, I'll just have to make an overflow field and move them manually. There have been too many changes made to the table already to start from scratch.
Can I just state... for the record.. that 255 is a stupid limit. It's stupid to HAVE a limit.. it's like Gates saying that we'll never need more then 24 or 500k or whatever the number was.
Thanks,
Siena
