Report Page Setup Keeps Changing

Jan 3, 2006

I have several reports in my system. Some are landscape and some are portrait. Occasionally the landcape ones switch to portrait taking up two pages each. In preview mode it is not so bad that the user can reset the page size, but when one is sent to print this is most certainly annoying.

Any advice?

Data Access Page Filter Refresh The Page

Dec 30, 2007

Hi All,

I have a data access page needs a filter by a dropdownlist, the dropdownlist used is a html control and I use javascript to filter the data programmaticlly in the onchanged event of the control.

MSODSC.DataPages(0).Recordset.Filter="AppID = 3";

My problem is, when this statement runs, the page refreshes. But I don't need the page refreshes, it set the dropdownlist text to the default text, not the value user select. The browser is IE7.

How can I stop the page refresh itself?

Thanks and Happy New Year!!

Changing Code Via Text Box

Nov 25, 2005

Hello,
in my Access database there is quite a bit of VBA code.
I have set my LAN and file path in some of this code but will need to change it when this database will get to other users using a different LAN and path.

Is there a way I can avoid them to open the code and manually change this information?
I was thinking of some sort of text box where they will write their path (ex. \S01000sharedoffice*.*) and use a cmdbutton to overwrite the existing path?

Thanks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Changing Property Settings By Code

Dec 2, 2006

This is getting into some stratospheric territory for me.

I am trying to change the visibility property of a label and corresponding text box, based on the contents of a different combo box. cboHow is a combo box that uses a value list as its row source, since the content of the list won't change. There are three fields that I need when the content of cboHow = "FIS". Otherwise I don't need them and I don't want to see them. My code is below:

Private Sub txtFISDepartmentNumber_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If cboHow <> "FIS" Then
lblFISDepartmentNumber.Visible = False
txtFISDepartmentNumber.Visible = False
Else: lblFISDepartmentNumber.Visible = True
txtFISDepartmentNumber.Visible = True
End Sub

At the moment there is no error code, but the label and text field don't respond by becoming visible/invisible when the contents of cboHow changes. Do I put this code with the txtFISDepartmentNumber or in cboHow? and do I use BeforeUpdate or AfterUpdate? Should I have a separate If..Then..Else for the label and the text box?

I have been playing around with this for several hours now and seem to be going in circles.

I am using A2K

Changing Vertical Scroll Bar Position Of A Form With Code

Sep 15, 2004

Is there a way to change the vertical scroll bar position to always be at the top when I move from form to form. Right now, it will start at the top, but when I move to a different form and back, the vertical scroll bar is positioned in the center. I turned off the autocenter property of the form and saved it in the desired position, but that doesn't work. My form is maximized when it opens. I would greatly appreciate some help. This has been an annoyance for quite some time now.

Modules & VBA :: Changing Record Source On A Form - 2 Different Outcomes Using Same Bit Of Code?

Apr 28, 2015

I'm changing a record source on a form when the user clicks a "save" button.

I'm doing this to store a value from the current form in a table that is not part of the default form query.

This works fine.

I have a separate button on my form called "Home", when the user clicks this button it requerys the current form which triggers the before update event to run, this in turn brings up a message box which asks the user if they want to save or not. If they click yes then it runs the SaveButton click() code.

For some reason when the user presses the save button and then exits, everything works but if a user presses the “home” button which triggers the save button then it brings up the “2107 The Value you entered doesn’t meet the validation rule defined for the field or control.” Runtime error and stops on the change recordsource command.

Why triggering the same code directly from a button or indirectly from a before update event has two different outcomes.

Modules & VBA :: Search Code Deactivates Navigation Buttons When Search Results Are Longer Than A Page

Jun 24, 2015

I have a form that has a subform on it. The main form shows a category of furniture and has custom navigation buttons and a search text box for asset numbers and command button that runs the search. The subform shows the asset numbers associated with that furniture category, sometimes there is only one asset number, in other cases there could be 60. There is a scroll bar to scroll through the asset numbers when there are too many to see in the initial window.

The buttons all work as they should except when I search for an asset number that is part of a category that has too many asset numbers to show in the main window. When this happens the "previous" and "next" navigation buttons do not take you to the previous or next record. All of the other buttons on the form work though - you can go to the first, or the last record, and you can search for a new asset.This is the code for the search:

Code:

Private Sub cmdAssetSearch_Click()
Dim rs As Object
If IsNull(Me.TextAsset) Or Me.TextAsset = "" Then
MsgBox "Please type in an asset number to search for.", vbOKOnly
Me.TextAsset.SetFocus

[code]....

I've also attached a picture of what I mean when I say there are more asset numbers than what the window shows.

Access FE SQL Server BE

Dec 5, 2007

We're currently looking at changing a couple of my more complex Access 2003 databases to Access Front End with a SQL Server Back End. This should give us better stability and reduce network traffic loads. I was looking at the Access help file on Upsizing and came across the following paragraph. On face value to a novice like me this would seem the easy option - but is it?

"Create an Access database front-end to an SQL Server database back-end so that you can create a front-end/back-end application.

This approach requires very little application modification since the code is still using the Jet database engine. "

Would anyone recommend this approach?

SQL Server To Access

Feb 15, 2006

I am importing an Excel file into a table in SQL Server that was created by an AS400 program.

I linked this table in MS Access. The date fields from the SQL Server table are split out. DSREQM is the month and day. DSREQY is the year. When opening the table it looks like this:

DSREQM DSREQY
215 6

I need to be able to convert this is a field to 2/15/06. However I cannot get this to work. For some reason when I execute the query it comes out as 8/02. Here is what I have:

DelDate: Format([DSREQM],"mdd") & "/" & Format([DSREQY],"y")

Any ideas?

Access Using Jet And SQL Server With ADO

Aug 29, 2007

Hi

I am attempting to write an application, using Access2003 as the front end. The Backend May be either Jet (ie an MDB), or SQL Server.

I am trying to make it so that the same code works regardless of the back end.

My approach has been to set the forms recordset to an ADO recordset like so:

Set Rs = New ADODB.Recordset
'Rs.CursorLocation = adUseClient
Rs.CursorLocation = adUseServer
Rs.Open strSQL, gcn, adOpenDynamic, adLockOptimistic
'
Set Me.Recordset = Rs

Anyone done this, and willing to sahre information/pitfalls.

First problem I am encountering is that Jet only seems to like .CursorLocation = adUseClient, and SQL Server only seemns to like .CursorLocation = adUseServer

Access Projects With SQL Server

Oct 26, 2006

I need to be able to add a feature to an Access project that will select a group of records based on an area code( user will have to be able to select a desired number like 100, or 1000), mark those as selected, and create a single csv file...The area codes are stored in the SQL SERVER database...right now they just export groups of #'s based on area code to excel select the amount they want and cut and paste into a flat file for another application to use...they would like to be able to select a number from a list box or type it in...like 100 ( which means take a 100 #'s from all different area codes) then have them automatically noted in database as being selected..and then export all selections to one csv file... should I do part of the work in the Sql Server behind the scenes..the format of the csv file also needs to be specific in that the first row is the columns separated by commas and then the data follows all text fields enclosed by qoutes..
Thanks for anyone's help ..Im very inexperienced with VB and Access

MS Access And Sql Server Permissions

May 8, 2007

I have created an adp, and have created stored procedures for all of my forms. In the SQL Server database I have given my users permissions as db_datareader and db_datawriter, however they were unable to open any of my forms because they didnt have execute permissions on my stored procedures. I finally had to give them permissions as db_owner so they could use my forms. Do I have to give them db_owner permissions to execute my stored procedures? I know I can go in and assign them execute permissions for my stored procedures, but there has to be a better way. Does anyone know how to give users execute permissions on stored procedures without having to give them db_owner permissions or having to grant execute permissions for each stored procedure individually?

I am still in the development phase of my project and having to assign users or groups with each stored procedure I create could really be a pain. Can someone please help me?

Access / VBA / SQL Server Question:

Aug 29, 2005

I am trying to build a form to make deletes from our sql database easier for some of my coworkers.

They have a combo box that they select a patient name from, then based on that patient id, they have a second combo box that shows all appointments that patient has been to. All right so far, yes?

I want, after the first two selections are done and we have a patient and an appointment selected, to have a textbox that returns the count of the number of medical documents based on that appointment id.

I am trying to use a text box for this.
Code: "select count(appt_id) from template_audit where appt_id = " & Me.cboAppointment

I don't know what property of a text box to use to return a single sql statement into it. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
