Changing Date From Excel To Access

Aug 21, 2012

I have in a cell in Excel: MM/DD/YYYY...I want to add it to my Access database as: YYYY/MM/DD...This is what I have so far in Excel VBA. It is giving me a date error. I have tried both as MM/DD/YYYY still did not work.

Code:
n=1
accDateSub="01/01/2011"
Dim conn As New ADODB.Connection
conn.Open ConnectionString:="Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=c:pathfile1.accdb;"
thisSQL = "INSERT INTO [Table1] VALUES (" & n & ", #" & Format(accDateSub, "yyyy/mm/dd") & "#);"
conn.Execute CommandText:=thisSQL

Queries :: Merging Changing Excel Forecasts Into One Access Table?

Oct 22, 2014

Say you have multiple excel sheets where forecasting is done daily.

For example, sheet one headings: Depot, department, location, 01/09/10, 02/09,10, 03/09/10

and then second sheet is similar but: Depot, department, location, 02/09/10, 03/09/10, 04,09, 10 - as you can see each day the forecast starts a day after and ends one date late (14 days each in the real one)...

How to I join all these forecasts into one table; vertically with each forecast identified by the day it start for analysis later.. rather than doing cross-tabulate which would take ages, I just need to keep adding more excel sheets but the headings change as they are dates...

Modules & VBA :: Passing Excel Cell Date To Access Query

May 1, 2014

I'm having a rough time trying to figure out how to pass a date to an SQL statement that Excel VBA macro will run. The date is in a cell (A1) formatted as 'm/d/yyyy'. Let's say it's 2/1/2014. I want to run an SQL statement that retrieves data from a table where a field is greater than 'A1'. The table field is a date/time field and has values formatted as 'mm/dd/yyyy'.

I've tried various syntax on the Where but cannot get it to work.
sd = Range("A1")
SELECT [tn].[Date Submitted]
FROM[tn]
WHERE tn.[Date Submitted] > """ & sd & """

This results in the following where clause that does not work.
WHERE tn.[Date Submitted] > "2/1/2014"

Date Import From Excel To Access - Type Mismatch Error

Sep 17, 2014

So I have a macro in excel which imports data from the excel sheet to a table in access db. Now the excel file has 4 columns which have dates.

- I imported the excel file from access via access so that I can get the heading of the table and the table is created. Then I deleted all the data in the table.

- When the table was imported 2 of the date columns got set as Short/text data type. Dont know why.

- Now, if I leave the data type as it is in Access table, my macro button in EXCEL works fine and imports the data to Access. If I change the data type, in access design, of the two data columns to date type, I get the type mismatch error when I run the import macro button in EXCEL. I am going nuts over this error. I even created a blank table in access and defined data types to all columns which would be imported from excel. but still excel macro button shows the same error.

I checked the format of all the four date columns is date.

I did a lot of hit and try and could it be the case that if access table fields are defined properly, but any of the data columns cells in excel sheet is null/empty, it will show the type mismatch error.

is it possible and is there a way, that once the data is imported to access, I can convert the value in the column from short text to date type.

Linked Excel Table In MS Access Date Data Type Problem

Aug 29, 2005

I'm using MS access and Excel 2000. I have an Excel spreadsheet that contained 8 columns, the first column has all cell format as Number, the rest of the column is set as custom date format of 'dd/mm/yyyy'. When I create a linked table in MS Access, the data types does not matched my excel spreadsheet columns, the 'Number' data type is a double and I want a Long Integer in Access, and the custom date format become text datatype but I wanted a DateTime datatype. Is there any work around this? Seems like it is a common problem.

Your prompt response is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Linked Excel File - Excel Date Field Translated To Text?

Mar 23, 2006

I have an excel file linked to a table in Access. Several fields are date data types in excel but are showing up as text fields in Access.

My real goal is to do a comparison between two tables, but only if the date of the one piece of data is newer than the other. I had planned on comparing the two date fields but even though I have formatted the date fields in my excel file to be "Date", when I look at the design view of my table it is showing up as "Text" and therefore I am unable to do this comparison.

I'm not sure if it's just something that I'm missing but maybe someone else knows an easy fix to this. I know this is probably a simple question, but I did search the forum and didn't find a thread that specifically dealt with this issue.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Automatic Changing Date

Mar 29, 2008

Hi,
Probably this question has been asked before, but I'm new here. Don't know if the question should be asked here and hope that my English is good enough.

I have a database in which I change the content of the records on a regular base. There are two dates in it. One is the day I made/added a new record, one should be the date I made the last change, but I can't get it to work. I have been searching the Help-option in Access as well as Google to find an answer, but so far no results. I don't know anything about Visual Basic, so if you answer please keep it simple.:o

Date Not Changing In Table

Jun 8, 2005

I have this code that a member helped me create in one of my forms. However, the date that is being input into the table is 30 Dec 99. It won't change no matter what the code is changed to.

The date is showing up correctly in the subform, it is just not inputting right into the table.

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Dim intNQ
intNQ = Nz(DMax("QuizNo", "tblQuizzes", "logon='" & Environ("Username") & "'"), 0) + 1

Me.subrmQuizzes.Form.Logon = Environ("Username")
Me.subrmQuizzes.Form.DATEControl = Format(Now(), "DD MMM YYYY")
Me.subrmQuizzes.Form.QuizNo = intNQ

CurrentDb.Execute "INSERT INTO tblQuizzes ( QUIZNO, [DATE], LOGON )SELECT " & intNQ & " , " & Format(Now(), "DD/MM/YYYY") & " , '" & Environ("Username") & "'"
End Sub

Any ideas?

Changing Date To Text

Jun 30, 2005

I have searched and found references to converting text to dates. I need to go the other way. I have client# field and a date field. I would like to make an update query to populate a new field by concatenating the two fields minus the "/". I am making a new key field in an existing table. Then in the future when data entry is done, I would like to convert the date and client# as they are entered. I was looking at using the left$ or right$ function, but the dates may be in mm/dd/yyyy format or m/dd/yyyy format or m/d/yyyy and so on, depending on the month and day. Is there an easy way to convert the date to a number? I tried datevalue, but it leaves the "/" in there. I'm not sure how to section off the parts of the date I need, when the month and day vary between 1 and 2 digits. Thanks for any help.

Changing Date Format

Jan 9, 2007

I have a table populated with several thousand records-one field is a date field in the format of 5/5/2006. I have to change the data so that it is 5/05/2006 in order to import it into a SQL table.

I'm sure there has to be an easy way to do it, but I can't come up with it. Changing the imput mask on the field affects future data input but does not change what is currently there.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

Changing Messages / Date Fields

Jul 9, 2007

Hi Guys me again!!

After spending the last few hours searching the forum and net for an answer I have finally conceded again that I need advice

I have a field in a table called DOB (date of birth) this is currently set as a Date / Time field

It did orignally have an input mask for short date i.e 11/11/2011 but i have removed this for now.

On my form (Patients) there is also some code in the after update properties box of DOB to calculate a persons age which is entered into another text field on the form.

What I need is a customised message box if the user enters the date incorrectly i.e 11/11/11 instead of 11/11/2011 alternativley is there a way to change what the user puts in i.e 11/11/11 to 11/11/2011 automatically after udating but keeping the code to calculate the age?

Hope this isn't to confusing...

Thanks in anticipation

Access Query With Links To Excel / Export To XML And Back Into Excel

Apr 25, 2013

I am using Excel and Access 2010.

I have an excel spreadsheet with 8 tabs. They are all in the same format and column order. They are employees grouped by region. My ultimate goal is to merge all of these onto one excel tab, relatively instantly. I created a master tab and tried doing array formulas and Vlookups, it worked but my spreadsheet was way too slow.

My solution? Import and link them to an Access database, step complete. Create an XML export then import into Excel.

My problem? The only way to update the excel tab with the combined tabs is to save the excel file after changes, go back into Access, re-export to XML, then go back into excel and refresh the data.

My questions, is there any way to automate this process to the point that I can change excel, save, then hit refresh on my excel tab with the XML import to auto-update?

Date Format Changing When Saving Data

Jan 19, 2004

Hi,
I'm using a web based form to store dates (and other records) in an access database. I use the dd/mm/yyyy date format (europe. go figure)
Anyway, the problem is that when submitting an ambiguous date, as in 11/01/2004, access sees it as 01-NOV-2004 rather then 11-JAN-2004, as it should.

Why does this happen, and how can I fix it. I have no problem doing the fixing in the access file itself or in the SQL command that populates it- whatever works best.

Thanks,
-Ethan

Forms :: Changing Auto-date Rollover Time?

Mar 31, 2014

I have a date/time field on a form that has the default set to "=now()" which puts in the system date and time. I need to change it so that the date changes to the next day any time after 11:00 PM (instead of midnight). This is because our third shift starts their day at 11:00. If they start entering data right away, alot of their work shows up on the wrong (to them anyway) workday date. I'm struggling with the expression builder to get this to work.

One way is changing the time to be an hour ahead but that will affect the entire day when I just want to change the date for one hour per day.

Access Keeps Changing My Joins

Dec 4, 2007

Good day all

I have a simple query linking two tables using the primary keys from each. The problem is that every time I go into design mode of the form that uses the query to populate a list box I get a Data Type Mismatch error and when I look at the query, Access has changed the join from the Pk in one table to the field after the PK in the other field. I have attached an image to show the change. Note that the join should be from the first fields on each table. I am really stuck with this guys, it is gettin me down and preventing me from developing the database further and my boss is on my case. Can anyone please help me? I have checked all the table relationships and they are fine. Thank you.
