This is getting into some stratospheric territory for me.
I am trying to change the visibility property of a label and corresponding text box, based on the contents of a different combo box. cboHow is a combo box that uses a value list as its row source, since the content of the list won't change. There are three fields that I need when the content of cboHow = "FIS". Otherwise I don't need them and I don't want to see them. My code is below:
Private Sub txtFISDepartmentNumber_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If cboHow <> "FIS" Then
lblFISDepartmentNumber.Visible = False
txtFISDepartmentNumber.Visible = False
Else: lblFISDepartmentNumber.Visible = True
txtFISDepartmentNumber.Visible = True
End Sub
At the moment there is no error code, but the label and text field don't respond by becoming visible/invisible when the contents of cboHow changes. Do I put this code with the txtFISDepartmentNumber or in cboHow? and do I use BeforeUpdate or AfterUpdate? Should I have a separate If..Then..Else for the label and the text box?
I have been playing around with this for several hours now and seem to be going in circles.
I've set the column widths properly on the subform, but the down arrow on the list box is still outside of the selection area. It may have something to do with lookups or concatenations, but I'm not finding that so in what I can think of to trace down.
I exaggerated the width of the list box to show where the down arrow actually shows itself.
See the form "frm_Class_Skills_Update" in the attached database. I need it to be visible when the list box is about 1.25" more narrow.
I have the following script which I use to modify all report settings, with an array so that I can easily list reports that I want to change the settings for, there could be 50+ reports.
I can use a string but I have to put str1 as string, str2 as string etc... whereas an array would be easier (if I knew how to do it).
Code: Public Sub ModifyAllReportsProperties() Dim obj As AccessObject, dbs As Object Set dbs = Application.CurrentProject Dim ReportName As String
i have a problem i hope some one can help me with.
i have a form with a sub form on it, and i want to disable everything until the user clicks a 'edit' button to allow the information to be changed.
i am just testing it at the moment, so i set one text box's enabled property to false. then i added a button with an on click event with the following code:
Me!userid.Enabled = True
when i start the form, the userid box is disabled and when i click on the edit button, it enables it fine.
however, when i change to the next record, the userid box remains enabled. i cant find where to put the code to set it back to false everytime i change the record.
i should also let you know i am a beginner, so please be gentle!
My student is doing a project on question paper generation in which he selects questions from each lesson needed and also some of these questions have images associated with them. So, if these questions are selected, the image control in the report displays it.
If there is no image, the space for the control is left in tact. I tried changing the visible property for the image control in the Detail_Format event procedure. But this code is not reached at all and the space is still left. I am not storing the image directly in the field but its path in a text field.
I want that the space occupied by the image control removed. I tried the suppression thing but obviously it did not work.
I have an Access application for which I would like to provide potential customers with a fully functional application but with a limit to the number of records that can be stored in the main file.
I would like to have a message displayed to say "The maximum number of records have been reached for this application."
Could you help with the VB code required to do this? The module will become active at the "On Open" property when the main Form is opened.
I have a form that I would like to update a picture on using VBA. The source of the picture path is in part a query that is not bound to the form. So far I have the following code that is pretty much working, but with a couple flaws.
Code: Private Sub Form_Current() LoadDefaultPicture End Sub Sub LoadDefaultPicture() Dim db As DAO.Database
[Code] ....
This is working. However, when I change the record the picture flashes the current picture once and then loads the new picture. It is like it reloads the current picture then loads the new one. I'm hoping there is a way to get rid of the flash.
Also, the code fails here: strDefaultPictureName = rs.Fields("AttachmentName")
When the query does not return a record. I can definitely fix this by adding an if statement to check for a record, but I'm kind of perplexed at why it is failing at that line. I would expect it to assign an empty string to that variable name and then fail on the next command where I try and set the ".Picture" property of the image.
Hello, in my Access database there is quite a bit of VBA code. I have set my LAN and file path in some of this code but will need to change it when this database will get to other users using a different LAN and path.
Is there a way I can avoid them to open the code and manually change this information? I was thinking of some sort of text box where they will write their path (ex. \S01000sharedoffice*.*) and use a cmdbutton to overwrite the existing path?
I am trying to set the default sort code to something other than the primary key. Example- Book Code is Primary Key but I want the table to be sorted by Title. I have went into properties and used the Order By property and typed 'Book.Title' however when I view the datasheet, Book Code is still the 1st column??? Is it still being sorted by Title??
When I send a database to server it changes all of my special charters to unicod charterset, I suposed that server is on american charter set, I would like it to change to central europien windows - 1250 code page, is it posible and how? it is very importand to me. thx
Is there a way to change the vertical scroll bar position to always be at the top when I move from form to form. Right now, it will start at the top, but when I move to a different form and back, the vertical scroll bar is positioned in the center. I turned off the autocenter property of the form and saved it in the desired position, but that doesn't work. My form is maximized when it opens. I would greatly appreciate some help. This has been an annoyance for quite some time now.
I'm changing a record source on a form when the user clicks a "save" button.
I'm doing this to store a value from the current form in a table that is not part of the default form query.
This works fine.
I have a separate button on my form called "Home", when the user clicks this button it requerys the current form which triggers the before update event to run, this in turn brings up a message box which asks the user if they want to save or not. If they click yes then it runs the SaveButton click() code.
For some reason when the user presses the save button and then exits, everything works but if a user presses the “home” button which triggers the save button then it brings up the “2107 The Value you entered doesn’t meet the validation rule defined for the field or control.” Runtime error and stops on the change recordsource command.
Why triggering the same code directly from a button or indirectly from a before update event has two different outcomes.
Installed Access 2003 recently and could swear that on a form in design view, sizing a control button for example, by holding down shift key, worked as I expected; it sized up or down by 1/4th of a grid line.
Today, I hold down shift and size a control, and it sizes up or down by one full grid line. Can't find anything in Options that I might have changed, nor in the Format menu.
I am new to the Access database building. I am trying to create a Student database for contact information, etc. I have a main table which stores all the users' data. When the student opens the database, I would like to identify the user. They should be able to view everyone's information, but only edit their own. How can i make this happen?
Also, if that is easy enough, I would like to identify when a staff member logs on. This way they can have special permissions to access a schedule searching feature, to look at all the students schedules.
I'm new to my job and ms access and not very savvy in the latter. There are fixes for my problem on the internet, but I really don't understand them.
I'm used to dd-mm-yyyy format and it's tough for me to think in mm-dd-yyyy in, for example, MS outlook. If I change my regional settings, of course, outlook and access follow suit. The access database is shared and we print out records as cover sheets for our files. Thus, it's not an option to have me on dd-mm and others on mm-dd. Is there a way for me to enter mm-dd in when using the database but have dd-mm standard for every other aspect?
If you can help, which I would appreciate immensely, please pretend that I don't know what I'm doing.
I designed a query, opened it and printed it. But the margins were too wide and I needed it to print in landscape also. So I changed the settings and it worked fine, but I can't get it to save the settings. Is it possible to save the printer settings for printing a query, both the margin and the landscape settings. If so, please tell me how. Thanks.
Hi. I have had a server change and db was moved and I need to change the IP etc. Is there a easy way to do this? I have searched through this forum in vain. :( Kind Regards Marie
