I have a database that consists of applied, accepted, and enrolled students in which I have three separate tables for each. In each table I have SSN, Year, and HighSchoolCode. I also have check boxes in each for accepted and enrolled. My question is, how can I get the check boxes in my applied table checked if the SSN and Year exist in the accepted or enrolled table respectively? Please help

Is it possible to put some kind of event in that when I click the check box that the record automatically goes away instead having to exit and come back in?
It would be a simultaneously update in the form I would imagine. I use the form all day and keep it open. Would be helpful that I can have the form updated automatically.

i'm making a database to catalogue a whole bunchs of projects of mine. i have a few
questions but i'll ask one for now. i have made a form with a check box and i want it
so that once that check box is clicked, another element appears or becomes un-grayed
or something. basically if the check box is checked then i have to specify a file location
for the file that i'm confirming exists. (if that makes sense)

Help! I'm designing a database for my A level project at college and I just can't get this one section to work. I've spent alot of time linking things up so that you can't double book one of 4 rooms. It's a booking system for a recording studio. The thing is I have 3 basic packages of equipment and you can only choose one for each booking. The price is diplayed at the bottom of each package. I want to be able to check a box and then I want this price to be added to total price. I cannot link update queries to a check box I've tried every songle way I know. I'm not too familiar with access either :S. One more thing, I want to be able to tick a box which says Discount and then I want this to update the total price field again so it is multiplied by 0.9. I have manage to figure this out in an update query and it is also based on the fact that a band has made a deposit that is bigger than £0.00. I just cannot link it to the form.
If anyone can help it'd be much appreciated, I'm panicking too much over this project.
I have a form which is based on a query which selects information from three different tables. All fields apart from one are locked, all are enabled. The table the field I wish to update is native to the current DB i.e. is not a linked table.
when I activate the form and try to click on the Check box, which is not locked, I get a beep but it does not change state.
I am using Access 2007 on win7 Pro.
I need to have a query-based form open and allow users to check off (or otherwise indicate) which records they want to update.
I tried having a check box on a continuous form, but when you check one, you check them all. I did a search on this, and saw that if you make the check-box bound, then that will work. But I don't know what to bind it to. I don't want to add another field to an already large and complex table, and I don't know where to put it if not in main table.
I'm working on a code that checks all blank/null text fields and combo boxes in a form and notifies the user if a field is not filled. The code below works if all fields are required, but I can't use it on forms that have fields that are not really mandatory. I've read somewhere on the net to use tags on the controls i want to skip checking, but that's where i get lost.

I have a transaction table the last record is [EquipIn]. during the equipment checkOut process all the other headings in the table are filled in. The idea is to fill in the [EquipIn] record a couple of days later when the equip is returned. How the heck can I make a equipment check in form that will update that one record? I can't do this manually as we have 1000+ pieces of equipment.

I'm in need a of a check-in/check-out application for my company. We have about 550-600 employees at any given time and our turnover is about 20-30% per year. Our check-in/check-out process requires our employees to personally visit between 30-40 areas in our company (personnel, safety, credentials, parking, insurance, etc) within the first month of employment. This is currently done manually and is a huge drain on labor, especially when check-in sheets are lost, misplaced or, in some cases, forged.
I'm looking to build a database that would be intranet based, password secure (by check-in area) that would allow the new employee to present at a particular check-in, check-out site, complete that portion of the check-in/out process and then allow the person responsible for the check-in/out to enter the status into the database. At any point in the process, I would want to know the status of the person checking in/out (how long they've been checking in/out and what portion of the process have they completed).
Can this be done in ACCESS?

I have sendkey "{f7}" on loss focus.
this works great as a spell check but then I get the mesage box that spell check is complete.
How do I stop this box from occuring?
My membership database has worked fine until recently. Now I cannot save inserted data. On attempted saving "Update or CancelUpdate without AddNew or Edit" appears.
The problem. relates to 2 tables Member and Addresses. PK in the parent table Member is ID. In the Addresses Table the FK is ID. There is a One to One relation between the tables and Referential Integrity is set. I know 1 to 1 is not good but it worked fine in this small database.
Browsing the all of the existing records is fine.

I have got a query that updates details from one table2 to table1, "Reference" is the primary key and this is what the query uses to determine which need updating.
It all works great but if table2 contains a record in "Reference" that is not in table1 i just want it to ignore it, currently it just seeems to add them.
Any suggestion guys & gals?

Ok, i have a question about update queries.I have two tables (I'll call table 1 and table two for simplicity) and an update query. I want to get some data from table one to table two (via an update query). But in table two there is a field that isn't in table one but i want to add a value to that field via the query.My question is, can i manually put into the query what data to add to a field instead of/aswell as using data from other tables.I hope you understood my questions.Cheers

I am trying to stop access displaying the "You are about Update 1 Record" etc message when i run an update query. I know i can do this in Tools/Options screen but the problem is that the database is going to be used by multiple users, and rather than changing each persons Action query option I was wondering whether there is something i can put in to the code Globally to halt the message.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to remove random characters from a field. The field [assycode] contains a string similar to say, FGEJBF1 or ABFGYRUKC I want to remove any occurrence of "F1" normally at the end of the string but not always at the end. I used: Like "*f1*" to find the correct records, that worked fine, I then used [Assycode]-" f1" in the update to box, It wants to update 146 records I click ok then it says It couldn't due to a type conversion error. Just messing around I tried adding "F1" to these records using [Assycode]+" f1" and it worked fine. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have a database where two tables contain information that I need to update based on the 4 right most digits of a field. There are only 11 values that will need to be updated out of a large list of values. I'm not quite sure how to set up the update query so that I can do this.

When a company acquires another company, I need a method by which the acquired company's CompanyID (PK) can be updated to the new company's CompanyID (PK). I also need to be able to update all related CompanyIDs (FKs) to the new value in related tables.
In cases in which the new company does not have an existing record, there is no problem: the company name simply gets changed to the new company and the existing CompanyID is maintained. I then use an audit table and Track Changes function to keep track of the company name data and a union query to keep the old names in the selection lists.
The problem is when both companies already have existing records in the table.
So, let's say I have records for Company A and Company B. Company A merges with Company B and Company B is now the main record. What is the best, simplest and easiest way to update the CompanyID (PK) from A to B and change the CompanyID (FK) to the new value in all related tables?
I am envisioning a pop-up form that directs the user to select the new company and then an update query happens behind the scenes... but exactly how does the criteria for the update query get selected and how do all the related tables get updated? My vba skills are pretty basic, will I need extensive coding to do something like this?
Does anyone know or have an example of how to use check box's to filter out things in a form. What I want to do here is I have like 5 different locations and I want to be able to choose which of those location, whether it be one or more checked at a time and then have whatever those check boxes are checked to be filtered out.

I have a continious form containing data from the table "tblToernament".
On that form there is a combobox containing teams that are stores in the table "tblTeams".
The table looks like this:

When I select, for example, Team02 in the combobox I want that value on, after I selected it from the combo NOT to be in the combobox.

I was working on my project again as usual, which is about transaction of cars coming in and going out (car pool system), So i created a table then a form for this. In the table, i put the option of 'Yes/No'. So, for the form, i want to create a search system which will include a search system.
My Idea:
I want to make a check box, as a search system, so when it is checked and clicked on a command button, it searches for all records with 'Yes'. and if not checked, and clicked on command button, then it searches for all records with 'No'.
Now i did my research, on google and stuff also in the access help but it ddnt help much.
To be honest with you guys, i dont know much of visual basic writing, but i do understand most of it. ( you know, when you understand one language but can speak it?? same way :o ).
So i would request some one to give me instructions on this one. It would really be appriciated.

Do check boxes have to be bound to be able to save them in your forms? In other words, when you check the box and click save, does the check box have to be bound so that the check mark can be saved? Thanks.
