Setting Some Text As Visible Or Invisible In A Tabular Form Wrt Boolean Field

May 3, 2006

Hi there,

I know there have been a good number of questions about visibility in forms already but I couldn't find a solution to my problem (or maybe I just didn't get it).

Basically, I have a tabular form (more than one record displayed at once) and one the field is of the Yes/No type. For each record, I'd like to have a text box that displays 'pending', set as visible if the field value is 'Yes' and set as invisible if the field value is 'No'.
The table is as follows:
id : auto-number
Flag: Yes/No [Yes]

If I use the following code on the Flag button:
Private Sub Flag_AfterUpdate()
Me.pending2.Visible = Me.Flag.Value
End Sub

all the 'pending' text boxes appear and disappear together (instead of just the relevant one).
I thought of using another text box, with the same data source ('Flag') but which would set itself to visible or invisible wrt to its own value but I couldn't find a way to do it.

Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance !
and many thanks already for the forum and the contributions - it's been extremely helpful, esp. for a beginner.

Check Box / Text Box Enable Help

Jul 21, 2006

I've got a text box that is disabled, and want it to become enabled when the user clicks the required check box.

I've got the following code, and can't see anything wrong with it, but for some reason it doesn't work. No error message appears, but the text box stays disabled regardless of whether I check the check box or not.

Private Sub Successful_Click()

If chkSuccessful = True Then
txtDateAppointed.Enabled = True
Else
txtDateAppointed.Enabled = False

End If
End Sub

Anyone have any ideas?

Modules & VBA :: How To Check Positioning Of Text

Nov 24, 2014

I am required to write a code to check the positioning of a text in a string.

E.g.

"~[Admin]~xxxxxxxxx~ACK~" = Acknowledged
"~xxxxxxxxx~[Admin]~ACK~" = Not Acknowledged
"~xxxxxxxxx~ACK~[Admin]~" = Not Acknowledged

As you can see, as long as the string starts with "~[Admin]~", it is counted as acknowledged. If the "~[Admin]~" appears anywhere else except the start, it is counted as not acknowledged.

I know I'll have to use If-else statements and EOF to cycle through my entire column, but how do I check the positioning of "~[Admin]~"?

Are there wildcard statements that Access VBA can use similar to SQL's "*"?

Tables :: Sum Of Time / Output It In Text Box For Valid Check Box

Nov 14, 2013

Basically what I'd like to do is to sum the time, and output it in the text box for the valid check box. For instance (in the picture attachment) if the 'Running' check box is ticked, Access will add 15 minutes to the 'Total Running Time' text box. If 'Running' is checked again on the next Record, Access will add an extra 15 minutes (totalling 30 minutes) to the 'Total Running Time'. On the 3rd Record if 'Down' is checked, Access will add 15 minutes to the 'Total Down Time' text box, the same for 'Change Over'.

Forms :: Requery Text Box Based On Check Box Selected

Sep 10, 2014

Is it possible to have a query that will requery value of a check box based on which check box is selected? I have a form that has 5 check boxes and a text field for populating a unit price. When someone clicks a specific check box, the text field should display the unit price. I know how to accomplish this using a combo box and don't want to change the form to setup for a combo box, but rather use what everyone is currently used to. I want to add the check box is from 1 table linked to a form and the unit price is from another table not linked to a form. Both tables have 2 fields in each that will relate.

Want Check Box On Switchboard Form To Set A Text Box's Visible Property In A Report

Sep 23, 2004

On my switchboard form, I have a check box which the user can check to make a text box (which appears in several different reports) visible and uncheck to make it invisible. The text box in the reports has the same name on all of them.

I am having trouble making this work.

I can think of two solutions, but haven't had success with either yet.

1. I could simply change the visible property of the report(s) control from the form. This works if the report is open, but throws an error if the report is not open.

Code:Public Sub showNumOrgsInReportCB_AfterUpdate()If Me!showNumOrgsInReportCB.Value = 0 ThenReports![publishZipR]![numOrgsF].Visible = FalseElseReports![publishZipR]![numOrgsF].Visible = TrueEnd IfEnd Sub

Is there a property or function I can use to test whether the report is open before I set the text box visibility?

2. Alternatively, a less elegant solution would be to run an event procedure to close all open reports. This would eliminate that issue, but I haven't gotten the code to work yet:

Code:Public Sub showNumOrgsInReportCB_AfterUpdate() Dim rpt As Report ' Enumerate Reports collection.For Each rpt In ReportsDoCmd.Close rpt.nameNext rptEnd Sub

This line:
DoCmd.Close rpt.name
throws a Run-time Error '13', Type mismatch.

How do I fix that?

I'm open to better ideas!

Thanks

Convert A Text String To Integer - Check For Error In Expression Builder

Apr 24, 2013

I would like to convert a text string to integer.

Lots of posts say to use val, but it is not listed in access 2010

So I am trying,

Creating a field that is numeric then just referring to the string field.

This works good except where it finds actual text. It puts the value "#Type!" in there.

Would there be some kind of function to check for an error or check if the value is text.

Invisible

Dec 21, 2004

Hi all

on a report, I'd like some sections to dissappear (a bunch of labels, text boxes etc...) if there isn't any data.

I have a text box with a fomula in it to return values. But if the value is null, nothing displays. This bit is OK. But I'd like the associated lable to dissappear as well. This is one of the many combinatios I've tried:
Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer)

If txtboxpmpbalance.ControlSource = Null Then
lblpmpbalance.Visible = False

End If
End Sub

I get a run time error saying there's no value. I'm assuming its because there's a formula rather than a value in the control. I appreciate any ideas.

Invisible Records

Mar 14, 2007

I have a simple database used for competition entries and scoring where I capture the entrants' details (and later their scores) in a single table. If an entrant returns to have another go I can either type in his details again or choose one of his earlier entries and issue a "duplicate" command (I have a button on the form to do this). This seems to work OK and a new record is created and I can see it in the underlying table and it looks OK. However despite restarts, refreshes and requeries none of my queries seem to be able to see a record created in this manner. Any suggestions?

Office XP with latest service pack3 update.
Thanks Dennis

Make A Box Invisible

Apr 22, 2005

I belive I have done this before but I cant remember how!

I have a continuos form with two text boxes on it and a check box.

I am trying to say if text box1 = "1" then text box 2 is visible if text box 1 = 2 then text box 2 is invisible. I am doing this on a tick box (for other reasons) so my code looks like this:

If Me.Text1 = "1" Then
Me.Text2.Visible = True
End If
If Me.Text1 = "2" Then
Me.Text2.Visible = False
End If

It works, kind of. The trouble is because its a continuous form all the Text2 boxes become visible or invisible depending rather than just the one record i'm working on. Is there a soloution to this?

Invisible Subform?

Jun 30, 2005

I have a form which I use for call logging. I have created a subform which, when a client reference number is selected from a combo box in the main form, the client details appear (address, telephone number blah). It works fine but for purely aesthetic reasons, I want to make this subform invisible and create text fields in the main form bound to the text fields in the subform.

This I know how to do...

...making the subform invisible I do not!

The reason I want to do this is because I can't get the subform to look "nice" on the main form...with bound text fields on the main form I would be able to line them up nicely with existing text fields...

Hope someone can help or at least suggest a better alternative!

Steve

The Invisible Filter

Jan 19, 2006

I could easily fix this problem (I hope) by deleting and recreating my form, but I'd really like to know what's going on.

I made a simple form that relates to a single table. No big deal. Somehow, through all of my editing and coding, whenever I open up the form all of the controls are empty. It acts as if the related table was empty. I know the table is not empty though. The only way I can get the form to display anything is if I select "Remove Filter/Sort". The odd thing is I can't find anything that would be filtering my form. This form has no code and the form properties don't show any filters. This odd behavior even occurs when I open the form from the database window and even when I reopen the database.

Invisible Security

Aug 31, 2005

I heard of a script that runs before the database opens and it reads the user log-in ID (when you start windows) and, dependng on who you are, grants appropriate permissions. My brother told me they use that where he works. If anyone has a sample of that kind of database or knows what I'm talking about could you e-mail me? (PMs on this forum don't work for me) My e-mail address is jon_ramsey36@yahoo.com. Thanks
