I'm certain this question has probably been asked before, but I can't seem to find it!
I have a form field called fldTitle, and want to ensure users write something that is meaningful by evaluating words within the title to a table of keywords (tblKeywords). I know how to write the IF/ENDIF and the other stuff required, but am struggling to find the right commands to do the comparision. Could someone help me out?
I'm trying to write some Code with the target to take a value from a textbox (out of a form) and a pregiven value (in this case = 2) and enter them in a new record in a table. But only if there is not already a record with the exact same combination of these to values. When done, the same button should proceed you to the next form (but this code is not already implemented in the fragment below) even if no values are added because they already exist in this combination.
Code: Public Function GetID_PatientStudiesGroup&() GetID_PatientStudiesGroup = [Forms]![frm_PatientStudiesGroupTZP]![ID_PatientStudiesGroup] End Function Private Sub BPRS_T1_Button_Click() Call GetID_PatientStudiesGroup& Dim strSQL As String
[Code] ....
As you can see, I tried to use a function to refer to the value out of the form, because I didn't find out how to refer to a form in an SQL Code.
Just to give you a better overview: The table where the information should be added is named "tbl_PatientStudiesGroupTZP". The form where you find the Textbox "ID_PatientStudiesGroup" (with the value I need to transport) is named "frm_PatientStudiesGroupTZP". Every part (except the WHERE NOT EXISTS part) worked perfectly for itself, but not when thrown together.
Client records from tblClient contain a field called Client_CID (Primary Key), as the Client ID. There are also fields Client_HIGH_FILE_NO, a numeric value of the last case number assigned to the specific client and Client_PREFIX that contain a unique three letter prefix that identifies the client.
Case records from tblCase contain a field called Case_CFN (Primary Key), as the Case File Number. tblCase also contains a field called Client_CID that contains the Client ID associated with the case (obtained from a combo box lookup from tblClient).
My form is frmCase bound to tblCase.
The Case_CFN is constructed by combining the value of the selected Client_CID’s Client_PREFIX with the value of Client_HIGH_FILE_NO plus 1.
I am constructing the Case_CFN on the before update event of the combo box for selecting the client. The resulting Case_CFN may appear as follows
ABC10001
Where Client_PREFIX = “ABC” and Client_HIGH_FILE_NO = 10000
Now, I need to increment Client_HIGH_FILE_NO in tblClient by 1, meaning I need to set the value of Client_HIGH_FILE_NO for the selected Client_CID to, in this example, to 10001.
Questions:
1) Is anyone familiar with this type of number scheme generally and if so any ideas?
2) Can anyone tell me how to update the value Client_HIGH_FILE_NO for the selected Client_CID?
Basically, what's the best practice or how do we store a query's value into an array then checking what the max or min value is and how to check if let's say "4" is in the array?
I have run into an issue with a basic DLookup. The database has grown in size and now we could have multiple entries, but I want it to return a certain one. So the information could be in it three times. Of course DLookup stops after the first one. How do I get it to loop to check the entire table? Someone mentioned to me to use a recordset, but how to write that as I have never used it before. Below is what I was using until this new request came up.
<code> Private Sub txtloan1_AfterUpdate() If IsNull(DLookup("[loan1]", _ "settlement", _ "[loan1]=""" & Me.txtloan1.Text & """ AND [status] = 'Open'")) = False Then Cancel = True MsgBox "Test", vbOKOnly, "Warning" End If End Sub </code>
This was also executing after the user entered the information within a text field. I did not want them to enter all the data and then have it come back as a duplicate.
I have a bit of code that uses controls on a form to batch add records to the tables. Before the code executes, it needs to do a check to make sure that all of the needed data has been supplied.
Code:
If IsNull(txtDateAdded) Then MsgBox "Please supply the date that the Label record was created" Exit Sub Else If IsNull(cboRecordCreator) Then
In sheet 1, In column A all the Batch numbers are present. So I want to check if each of these is present in Access table named "tblmain". If its present then display its corresponding Policy number in Column B of attached workbook.
I am trying create some code that checks if the contents of the status field in a table is "Authorised" where the ID = something specific for multiple records. If all records witht the specific ID are "Authorised" Then generate a new record in another table. Where to start, perhaps a Dlookup?
I need to add a Yes/No field to a table. I know I can do this in design view. Next I want to loop through the table and set it to Yes if certain fields are null. What I need help with is the VBA looping part and setting the boolean field to Yes if the fields being checked are null.
I have one query (lets call i Q1) and I have two tables with identical structure.
Table 1: - id - iddesc - comment
Table 2 - id - iddesc - comment
Table 1 consists of an imported xslx-file. The idea with Table 2 is to use it to edit content. Sometimes only one field is edited in Table 2 and in those cases i need to get the other values from Table 1. Q1 should (but doesnt) generate something like this:
Q1: - id [always from Table 1] - iddesc [from Table 2] - comment [from Table 1]
My question: How do i, in a query, check if data exists in a field in Table 2 and if it does, add data from that field and not from Table 1?
I have a table that stores ID,PolicyNumber,NewPolNo fields. It has millions of records. The field NewPolNo is empty. I need vba code that will check the following for each record:
1. If the length of the PolicyNumber is over 14 characters long then store that PolicyNumber value in NewPolNo field.
2. If the length of the PolicyNumber is less than 14 characters long thenagain store that PolicyNumber value in NewPolNo field.
3. But if the length of the policyNumber equals to 14 digits long then check the following:
a) If the last 7 digits are 0's of that PolicyNumber. If yes then store first 7 digits in NewPolNo field. b) If the last 7 digits are not 0's then store the whole PolicyNumber value in NewPolNo field.
We need to check these conditions for each record of the table.
I am designing a project in which there is a form and on that form there is a textbox and Browse button. With browse button you can select a file from the dialog box and that file path will appear in the textbox. This part has been done as below:
Code: Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() ChooseFile End Sub Sub ChooseFile()
Dim fd As FileDialog Set fd = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
[Code] ....
Now the next Part i.e Part2 in which we have to see the references present in Column D of the "Summary" worksheet of the workbook whose path is present in textbox1 and check if they match with any of the references in field "Ref" of the Access table named tblLiterature.
If value in column D matches with Ref field of the Access table then change the status field of the Access table to the corresponding columns A,B,C named as "Withdrawn","Obsolete","Updated". that means if the column A of the corresponding Reference is Y then change the status field to "Withdrawn". If column B is Y then change the status to "Obsolete" and if column C is Y then change the status to "Updated".
Please see attached the workbook as this kind of workbook will be searched against Access table .
I have a database that has 2 tables. Table A and Table B. Table A is my primary table. On this table I have 2 fields. The first field is a LOOKUP Field that looks up information from Table B and displays my selection in the field on Table A. Then using DLOOKUP I automatically input the information in the Second Field on Table A based upon the selection from the First Field.
This is working mostly correctly. However, the problem is, when I click on the next record in the table, it automatically changes the Second Field on that record to the same value as the record before it and continues this trend each time I click on another record. This occurs without me making a selection in the first field. If I make a selection in the first field it does change the Second Field to the Correct Value, but then the next Record has the same issue.
How do I go about fixing this so it doesn't change the value with the change of the record. Only change if I change that particular field within that 1 record?is there a way to restrict the Value's in my lookup field to only include the Values from Table B that aren't already in Table A?
I have what is probably a stupid question but I've been struggling with this one for a while. I have an ordering database which has an Orders table (containing Order ID, Date, Supplier etc) and an Order Line table within which I have a combo box for Product name, supplier, price, VAT rate, Line price etc. At the moment, I have the order line table as a subform within the Order form (run from the Orders table). The problem I'm having is the subtotal and total fields. At the moment these are in the Order Line table as I cannot figure out how to get these in the Orders table. In summary, can I make a calculated field in one table that calculates values from another table (linked by Order ID)?
Is it possible to have the field names in a table be set by the values in another table? The desire being that for a database used in various locations, the local variations could be changed in one table which would then propagate that change throughout all the forms, reports, tables etc.
I there a way to determine whether or not my checkbox within a form is ticked or not dependent on another value within a field?
I have a field called 'DaysRemaining' and another check box field called 'Expired'. I want the expired checkbox to be ticked if the value within 'DaysRemaining' is '<0' and unticked if '>=0'. Is there a way i can do this within the control source of my check box?
Hi,I've searched forums for something similiar, but didn't find anything (or maybe missed, my english is bad), so sorry if this was asked before.I've just started to use MS Access and i need something i can't makeThe thing is that my table has a column with data that has to be like this:same_text_always={{{{[any_text];any_number(nr_next);any_nr;any_nr}};any_nr};{{{[any_text];any_nr;any_nr;any_nr};{[any_text];any_nr;any_nr;any_nr}};any_nr};{{{[any_text];any_nr;any_nr;any_nr};{[any_text];any_nr;any_nr;any_nr};{[any_text];any_nr;any_nr;any_nr};{[any_text];any_nr;any_nr;any_nr}};any_nr};{{{[any_text];any_nr;any_nr;any_nr};{[any_text];any_nr;any_nr;any_nr}};any_nr}}Is it possible for access to check all column data to be like this and display all mismached fields in a new datasheet?any help, hint, tip would be very helpfull, thanks.I'm using MS Access 2002
I have a login form. 2 spots for users to input and ID and their name. I want to do error checking to see the user inputs a wrong name or wrong id with their corresponding name or ID. For example, I don't want User A to be able to login with User B's name. If User A inputs their ID and inputs User B's name, I want to show an error message stating the their is a mismatch of credentials. Here is my code
Private Sub Command12_Click() Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim txtID As Variant txtID = Forms![LoginForm2]![txtEmployeeID] txtName = Forms![LoginForm2]![Text13] Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM CoachTable WHERE EmployeeID = '" & txtID & "'", dbOpenDynaset)
Hello, I have a table with a yes/no field and on the form i have a checkbox that refers to that field. I am trying to count the number of records where that box is checked. This is the code i have so far
Code: Dim rs As Recordset Dim db As Database Dim i i = 0 Set db = CurrentDb() Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("Listings") 'table im pulling from rs.MoveFirst Do Until rs.EOF If me.Check137 Then i = i + 1 End If rs.MoveNext Loop MsgBox i When i run the code, the check box returns a value of -1 for each run through the loop. Out of 900 records, i only have 4 of these boxes checked and they arent being counted. Instead, it returns a value of the number of records in the table. Am I missing something simple here?
I have kept the names as simple as I can for the example sake to which I can substitute my names in after.
I have a split form - form1, I have a check box on this form - checkbox1 - That I would like to use to make only the checked results from the table - table1 - show and if it is not checked to show all the results. How would I go about doing this? The table field is called field1.
Is there anyway to have a single field in a table which is populated via the use of a lookup onto another table, but allowing multiple value selection out of the lookup table and populating those into the field...
For example
Table 1 is customer details Table 1 field 3 = areas of interest
Table 1 field 3 is populated via a lookup into Table 2 interests
Table 2 has 4 records
Sport Household Motoring Family
I want to be able to select 1 or more of the Table 2 values and populate them into Table 1 Field 3....
