Let me describe the database briefly. I have a table with two fields, item and score. Item's data type is text, and score's data type is number.
I have a form with two combo boxes and a button and some other controls. I need code for the button.
When I select an item in combo1 and another item in combo2 and then click on the button, I want the score for the item in combo1 to be one greater than the score of the item in combo2. Also, if the score of any other item is greater than or equal to the score of combo1, I want the score for each of those items to increase by one.
This is code in a command button on a form to preview a report. DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acViewPreview, "Control Room Query", "[Lot #] = Forms![Hydro COA]![LotNumber]" What could I change in this code to use in a different command button to have the report sent as an attachment in snapshot format in an email? The user would have to fill in the address, subject and body of the email. Thanks much!
I am designing a form and I need to add a Browse button to it. I need the Browse Button to point to the "My Computer". Once that file is selected I need it to fill in the hyperlink box. I have the hyperlink text box on the form and it works if you manually type a link in. I would like it to auto fill-in with the selected file.
I have two text boxes and a check box - so the user can enter (1) patient weight, (2) patient height and then check whether the patient is male or female. The first two are then used to calculate a Body Mass Index. (simple enough and works OK). What I then want to do is have four command buttons that become visible when the calculation is within a certain range. So - simplistically- if the calculation (calctxtbox) is between 0 and 5 AND the patient is female then the command button called "normal"(Command79) is enabled. My VB code writing is improving (thanks largely to this forum!) but still very basic - can some-one help please?
Do I put my code in the "after update" event of the calctxtbox?
Private Sub calctxtbox_AfterUpdate() If calctxtbox > 0 (How do I say and <5) and then how do I say Female =Yes Then Command79.Enabled = True End Sub Am I close? Also can you enable labels and text boxes or just buttons.
I found this simple password code that I use to open some forms: Code:Dim x As Stringx = "password"Dim y As Stringy = InputBox("Enter password for form")If x <> y ThenMsgBox ("Invalid password")DoCmd.CancelEventEnd If I would like to use it in a switchboard button, but the following statement is OnClick already "=HandleButtonClick(4)". How can I incorporate this statement with the code?
(I guess I don't really understanding how the auto-switchboard works.)
Hi! I have a cmd Button in a form that onclick is suppose to open the selected record in a specified form. My problem is when the specified form opens it doesn't have any data in it. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!! Here is the cmd button code i used:
Private Sub Command14_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Command14_Click
Dim stDocName As String Dim stLinkCriteria As String
Does anyone know the code for opening a specific notepad file from a button? I know there's a default button but it only opens a blank notepad page. I need to open some written instructions from a button you see.
I have created command buttons to enter event registration information after biographical information has been completed. When I click on the button I get the following error message:
"Microsoft Office Access cannot find the field '|' referred to in your expression."
This is the On Click code that I have in there. Can anyone spot the error of my ways?
Private Sub RegisterButton_Click() On Error GoTo Err_RegisterButton_Click If IsNull(Me![AttendeeID]) Then MsgBox "Enter attendee information before registering for an event." Else DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, acSaveRecord, , acMenuVer70 DoCmd.OpenForm "Registration", , , "[Registration]![RegistrationID]=Forms![Attendees]![Attendees Subform].form![RegistrationID]" End If
Exit_RegisterButton_Click: Exit Sub
Err_RegisterButton_Click: MsgBox Err.Description Resume Exit_RegisterButton_Click End Sub
Per the instructions detailed here... http://www.fontstuff.com/access/acctut08.htm
...I created a parameter query in the form of a drop down box that uses a command button to produce a query.
The code is as follows:
Private Sub cmdCreateReport_Click() DoCmd.OpenQuery "qryUIRFollowUp", acViewNormal, acEdit DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmOpenUIRLookUp"
End Sub
This produces the data I need in datasheet view. I want to use this same data to populate a form I've created that will use the above data as a springboard to add more data to another table (also connected to my form).
So what code do I need to add to the above so that along with producing the data the command jumps right to the next step and feeds this data into the form and then displays that form?
Private Sub Save_Click() If IsNull(cboEmpName) Then MsgBox "Please Select Employee Name" Me.cboEmpName.SetFocus End If If Me.txtNoofDaysWorked.Value = "0" Then MsgBox "Please Enter No of Worked Days"

Thus, it is possible to change the name of the state or city, but can not be deleted until the state is associated with some of the city.
I also made a form for the "state" in which is the list that contains a list of all states. The name of the list is "lstState". So that I can delete the "State" I make a button in form and I use the following code:
Code: Private Sub DeleteState_Click () If IsNull (Me.lstState) Then MsgBox "Select the state you want to delete", vbCritical else DoCmd.SetWarnings False
[Code] ....
Everything works fine when the state is not assigned to any one city. But the problem arises when trying to delete a state which is assigned to the city, that is when I select this state and click on the delete button then the state is not deleted - this is ok, but without any message told why the state is not deleted and that's the problem.
My question is how to make the code that the user receives a message that such State can not be deleted because there are cities that are associated with it.
In the Main Form , I have few buttons and I am writing the following code to open the right form when a button is clicked but unfortunately the code isn't doing anything. No form is opening. I am using MS office 2010.
Code: Private Sub BtnOption_Click() DoCmd.OpenForm "Form1", acNormal, , , acFormAdd, acDialog End Sub Private Sub Form_Load() 'Me!Label1.Caption = "Welcome " & Environ("username") & "!"
I am trying to create some code for a button in a report that will follow a hyperlink to a specific file. The problem I'm having is that the files that are at the end of the hyperlink can have various extensions (*.doc, *.docx, *.pdf, etc.) I'd like to be able to put a wildcard in the code to allow the opening of the file regardless of the extension.
Code so far:
Private Sub Command6_Click() Application.FollowHyperlink ("C:UsersjbeggDocumentsAccessTestFolder" & [FileName] & ".*") End Sub
I am at my Login Screen, I want it to return to the Login Screen if you select "NO" and Close the DB if "YES"
Here is my current code:
Private Sub Form_Close() If MsgBox("Would you like to EXIT the Database?", vbYesNo, "Quiting Database") = vbYes Then Application.Quit Else ??? End If End Sub
Often I use Labels as buttons due to the fact I can colour them the way I want, and use the on click event to trigger code. The code below however works for a command button, but not a label button.
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmdatetime" Do While Forms!frmdatetime!OKFlag.Caption = "False" DoEvents Loop
When this code is run by clicking on a command button, it works fine. If run by clicking on a label, frmdatetime opens, but the mouse will not work on either of the 2 open forms unless you go down to the windows task bar, jump onto another window, and back onto frmdatetime. If I remove the loop with the DoEvents in it, then the problem does not occur.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why this behaviour occurs.
Works great, but when I hit the number "3", (3 times in row) it will let me into the form. I want it to not let me in IF I don't know the password.
Where did I go wrong?
Private Sub Form_Load() Dim pw As Variant
If InputBox("What is the password?", "Password") = "1" Then Else MsgBox "Invalid Password", vbCritical, "Sorry Charlie" DoCmd.Close If InputBox("What is the password?", "Password") = "2" Then Else MsgBox "Invalid Password", vbCritical, "Sorry Charlie" DoCmd.Close End If End If
I protect my code from people being able to read it by setting a password on the code from Tools > Properties, selecting the Protection tab and entering a password, and clicking "Lock Project"
Is there a way to write code that will remove that Lock Project check and check it back on?
I've looked through the Application.SetOption command and it doesn't seem to be one of the choices. It would be very helpful if someone knew how to do this.
I have created a web-database (? - There are globes over all the forms and tables icons) based on the Issues & Tasks template. This means that most of the data is entered and seen on the "Main" form, which has two tabs - Open Issues and Closed Issues. I have created a form that allows people at my work to input the necessary data and save it, so that it will show up on one of the two tabs. However, once a record has been created, I want to be initially locked if the ID/PK is clicked, so that data can't be changed or entered inadvertently.
SO, I changed the code so that when the ID/PK for a record is clicked, it brings up a different form, but one that looks exactly like the one that is brought up when entering a new form, but I locked all of the fields so that the information cannot be changed. It seems from what I have read that I can create a button on this form so that when clicked, it unlocks the fields on the form so that they can be changed, and then when clicked again it will lock the fields again. Is this true? If so, how can I do it? Or is there something similar I can do? I have seen codes that I could copy and paste, but I cannot figure out the place to copy and paste codes in Access 2010.
I have changed the Form properties so that Data Entry and all the "Allows" are set to No...
Hi, I have got a small problem and maybe someone could advise me. I am creating a customised command button from a label button. The new button works fine but I can't apply the 'requery' function to it, if i do an error occures and i am being prompt to save the data first???? :
Private Sub Labelsearch_Click() Me!itemquery.Requery End Sub
Private Sub Labelsearch_MouseDown(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single) Me.Labelsearch.SpecialEffect = 2 Me.Labelsearch.BackColor = 255 Me.Labelsearch.ForeColor = 10092543 Me.Labelsearch.FontItalic = True Me.Labelsearch.FontBold = True End Sub
Private Sub Labelsearch_MouseMove(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single) Me.Labelsearch.ForeColor = 255 Me.Labelsearch.FontItalic = False Me.Labelsearch.FontBold = True End Sub
Private Sub Labelsearch_MouseUp(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single) 'Come back to initial state when button release' Me.Labelsearch.SpecialEffect = 1 Me.Labelsearch.BackColor = 16373685 Me.Labelsearch.ForeColor = 8388608 Me.Labelsearch.FontItalic = False Me.Labelsearch.FontBold = True End
If I create a command button with the wizard and assign the code : me!itemquery.Requeryto the on_click event my form is working fine. Why is his code is not working if I assign it to a label? :o
Need a little help here. I have this code on a command button that open a form that displays a chart. The chart work great as long as there is data to display. However, if there is no data then the chart is blank. So what I'm trying to do is add a dcount to catch the 0 and give an error. So the 1st query makes the table where the data for the chart come from. The Qry-Test for Zero query, queries that new table if dcount is 0 it should error. My problem is that I can't get this to work with the 0 if I make it 1 then I will get the message box if there are no records and if there is 1 record 2 and greater work fine. So my question is why won't the code catch the 0?
Dim stDocName As String stDocName = "Qry-Makes Table" DoCmd.OpenQuery stDocName, acNormal ', acEdit
If DCount(" * ", "Qry-Test for Zero") = 0 Then MsgBox " There is no data for this time frame to chart. Please re-enter your Date range" Exit Sub Else

I use the code below on a search form. I would like for the results of the list box search to populate a report instead of the list box. Is it possible to take the the sql and move it to a report? Thanks..
