Combo Box Query In Form (Im Lost)

Hi Guys,

Hopefully a simple question here. I looking to create a form that creates a contract for a particular client we deal with (grounds maintenance). In that form I'm looking to give the end user the option of selecting an existing billing address (for a property mgmt. company for example) to to enter a new one (which would then be added to tblBillingAddresses).

What I would like to have is a dropdown menu that automatically generates all the billing addresses we have (just company name, short address) so the end user can simply select the address as opposed to having to look up the auto number attached to it.

What would be better would be to be able to use have an independent lookup that classifies each billingaddress as MgmtCompany or SingleCompany, and have the aforementioed dropdown menu only generate those BillingAddresses that are infact Mgmt Companies.

How would you reccomend I go about doing this WITHOUT having to manually enter a new mgmt company to the dropdown menu each time we enter into business with such a company (I need a real-time search query based on the above criteria, in a dropdown menu within our contract From.)

Link Between Query And Form Lost.

Hallo,

I'm quit new to Access.
I have an existing application. There is a form with some selection fields. When I press the button report then following is executed:
- The report object is called with DoCmd.OpenReport Rpt, acPreview
- This report has object dependencies with the query qryRptClient AND the form frmClient. This is the form with the selectia criteria.

The query "qryRptClient" has nested query's but in some of them, in the where clause fields are tested like: "WHERE (tblTempProject.country=forms!frmClientReq!cmbCoun try"

Generating of the report works correct ==> so far so good.!

Now the application must be extended by exporting this report result to XML file. So I have added on the form another button wich is calling the same query Like:

Application.ExportXML _
ObjectType:=acExportQuery, _
DataSource:="qryRptClient", _
DataTarget:="c:Projecten estexports" & FileName


But now I get for every selection criteria field which is used in the query's a popup window asking what the value is of this form object.

So, I understand with the report that there is a link between the report, query and the form but in the second occassion how do I get a link between the query and the form.

Can somebody help me? Thanks in advance.

P.s. When I try this with northwind database, with the query invoices, it working correct and I get a XML file! So the export on itself is working.

Query... A Little Lost

I have 5 forms and 5 tables.

The database is blank, but the information entered into the forms are saved into the tables.

Now I want to make a query so I can see some statistics regarding the information entered into the forms and stored in the tables.

I have created a query, but Im not sure what to do next, do I connect it to the query and it should give me desired output or do I connect the form to the table
or how does it work ?

need some feedback Im a little bit lost in this :(

Lost Query ?

I recently moved by database from one hard drive to another - all is working ok after refreshing the links. However I have a few queries and reports that are date or date/time specific. (ie; I input a specific start / end date or start/end hour) Now when I run these queries it returns an error message stating 'Data type mismatch in criteria expression'

Please does anyone know why and how can I restore the queries ? Prior to the move all queries / reports worked OK.

Form Data Is Lost

Hi ..
I have a lot of forms in my database. This database is already half way complete. I was not able to edit the data in the so I unlocked all the forms and allowed it to be edited, deleted and all those data related stuffs.
but I realised that making these changes makes all the data in the form lost.
All these forms are related but the data is only lost to those froms in which I make changes.
What should I do so that I dont lose the data and still I can work with the forms

Form Is Lost (cannot Open It!)

Today my Access database at work evidently burped! Now when I click on the Form that I want to open nothing happens! The Table still exists with info in it and the Reports still are there but the Form does not open at all. Thanks for your help.

Lost Ability To Add To A Continuous Form?

Hello,

I have a database with a huge table on the back-end, and then I want to set up various front-ends that will only show particular records that a user is interested in.

I notice that, when I query the big table without any join, I get all the records and also a space for entering a new record--that's what I want. But, when I add a join that serves to filter the records to the ones the particular user would be interested in, the space for entering a new record goes away. This is the case whether I view the query itself, or the form that uses the query.

Does anyone know how I can keep the ability to add new records while also making the query a bit more complex?

I Need To Create A Search Form But I'm Lost

Hi,

I am a total newbie to access.

We have a small business and i do all the admin. I've created a database of all our contacts (name, address, phone number, fax number, etc) and i've managed to create a form that allows me to enter the data into that instead of directly into the database window.

The last thing i want to do is create a search form or add a button to my existing data entry form that will allow me to type in a contacts name, address, or any other thing about them i remember at the time, and be taken straight to that entry. Once this is done that is all i need to know for the moment.

I've tried an example i found on microsoft's site but can't get it to work properly.

Can anybody help. I'd imagine this is very very simple but i can not get the answer myself.

Query Criteria From Combo Box On Form

I can't figure out what I am doing wrong... I want the query criteria to be defined by a combo box in the form. The user will select the criteria on the combo box, then click a button to run the query, however the query keeps coming up blank.

[Forms]![UserReview]![Staff] is what I have entered in the criteria for the field in the query. If I simply type in "casbds1" as the criteria, which is one of the choices in the combo box, it returns with the data I want, but I just can't get it to work with the combo box. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Query With Combo On Form For Parameter

I have a report query that uses a combo box on a form to collect the parameters. I would like to be able to include an option that would be like not having any criteria at all, to show all the records. I have tried several combinations in the criteria to get it to work and haven't found a way yet.

IIf([Forms]![MyForm]![Mycbo]<0,Like"*",[Forms]![MyForm]![Mycbo])

I have tried various different versions of what you see above and none have worked. The true part and the false part both work if separated and tested. Is it possible to make this work or is there better way to do this?

Query Not Working Thru A Combo On Form

I have document management system for 2 projects in one db. I have a login form where user has to select the project id thru a combobox. And I have all the queries based on this combobox to display results in form or report. But after login and selecting the project, login form closes and main form opens to display data pertaining to that project. But it does not work, the moment we click close to open main form again query method apears displaying the same string :[Forms]![frmLogon]![Project]. This happens for all forms, reports. I cant't figure this out. Can somebody please help me?

Filter Combo Box Query From A Form Field

The employee and task table are joined to the tasking table. This is so i can have a task which has many employees and an employee with many tasks. Query On Form. (combo Box To Give Criterea)

I have changed my approach for my database, and i think a query is what i needed all along. But i am not sure how to go about it.

Is it possible to have query results on a form?

more precise, i have a table full products, alot of information per product (about 30-50 fields)

The amount of actual products isn't many probably around 10, and it's likely to stay at around 10 products.

Can i have a drop down list listing all the products, so it looks these up from the product table, you select the product, that product field value becomes the criterea for the query, and all the associated form fields get filled out to do with the product selected.

To summarise, can i have this all done in a form? so it's easy for staff to simple go the to product drop down list, select a product, all the info relating to the product is then displayed on the form.

hopefully i have made sense with my post.

I have a form with combo boxes that works beautifully, but I've been asked to add another feature to it. It requires adding a button that runs a query and displays the query results on the screen.The query code is:

Forms :: Parameter Query Using A Combo Box In A Form

I have a form with a main form and a subform, main form's function is to filter the data's inside the sub form using a combo box, right now I have one combo box which filters the data according to their control no so the output if I use say CtrlNo 1 in the combo box the data that will reflect in the subform would be the data's of CtrlNo 1 but now I'm planning to add another combo box that will filter who supplied that CtrlNo.

What I did is I used the same method from my first form that filters the CtrlNo but in this form I replaced the CtrlNo combo box to Supplier Combo box it worked great but now what it made me think is it possible to put this two filters in just one form?combo box 1 is for CtrlNo combo box 2 is for Supplier.

When I tried to create this it failed, when I filtered only the CtrlNo subform doesn't reflect any data this goes the same for the Supplier combo box but when I tried to choose a filter for both combo box say CtrlNo 1 and its Supplier this works fine but what I want is to have both filters to work even if I did not use both parameters is there any way to achieve this?

I have a simple form with a combo box linked to a field on a query and command button with vb code to open a report based on the value of combo box. The command button also includes code to requery the value of the combo box so that what was already generated in the report will not display when generating another report. Since the requery is tied to the command button, there is a delay in requery of the combo box vallue unless I click the command button twice to remove the report already generated. how to apply the requery to the combo box so that when I click my comman button, the requery process will work without me having to click the command button twice?

i have a query that prints records from 3 different tables that match values entered through a combo box on a form.

I have a table which holds information on audits that have been carried out on staff member's actions. The 'Supervisor' field is populated via a combo box which is linked to a separate table (tblSupervisors).

I am now trying to build a query to allow me to extract all audits that have been carried out on a specific supervisor - rather than the criteria to be [Enter Supervisor Name] and allowing text entry, I thought it would be better to have form that pops up with a combo box that is used to select the supervisor (from tblSupervisors);

So far:

- Form "Supervisor_Select" is created, and has a combo box that looks up from tblSupervisors

- Macros as specified in the instructions are created (Open Dialog, Close Dialog, OK and Cancel)

- Query is done, all bar the criteria expression on the desired field.

- Module is created as described in the instructions, and is called "Supervisor_Select"

I have tried putting the following in the criteria;

[Forms]![Supervisor_Select]![cboSupervisor], however I think I am missing the bit where the query opens the "Supervisor_Select" form?? Will this only work from a button where the on click event runs the 'Open Dialog' macro and then runs the query?

General :: Add Query Controlled From Combo Box On Nested Form

I am having an issue with a database application I created. I needed to add another query that could be controlled from combo box on a nested form.

The combo box is for dates for entries in a table. Which then filters the query based on the combo box selection. Easy enough stuff.

The problem I am having is that when I try to use the combo box as a criteria for the query using;

[Forms]![MasterForm]![NavigationSubform].[Form].[comboBox]

Access closes and wont let me use the reference to the combo box.

What has happened? Corrupt database? How do I fix it?

Queries :: How To Activate Query Criteria For Multi-combo Box Via Form

I am trying to make a form where the user can check/uncheck query criteria via several check boxes. The idea is that the user can start with many criteria and then deselect criteria if the search does not return enough results.

I have been setting up several queries and thought I would combine them in a "Master Query", since I thought it may be easier to deal with each criterion and the respective switch this way.

Lets say we run a hairdresser.

I have a field in the form that allows me to select clients. This is also used in the query. Works fine. Now to the hard part.

Example 1:

Each customer has a budget to spend on haircuts.
Each hairdresser offers haircuts from $x to $y.
The query should return all hairdressers that are appropriate for the budget of the selected customer.
There should be a yes/no button on the form to ignore or use this criterion.

Example 2 (this completely threw me off):

Each customer has a set of preferred services from a table (e.g. cutting,washing, coloring).
Each hairdresser offers certain services also based on this table (e.g. cutting,washing, coloring, drying).
The customer and hairdresser table use the services table and a multi combo box to select the services.
The query should return only hairdressers that offer some or none of the services wanted by the client.

Again, there should be a services yes/no button on the form to either ignore or include this criterion.

To clarify, the hard part for me is the query. I am fine with setting up the tables and the form. Just not sure how to implement something like "IF (ServicesCheckBox = -1, 'then use service criterion', 'ignore service criterion')".

Queries :: Combo Box On Form That Passes Criteria To Simple Select Query

I have a combo box on my form that passes criteria to a simple select query. There are four possible selections to make from the combo box. For some reason, when I select the first option on the list the query runs perfectly. However, if I select the second, third or fourth option from the combo box, the query returns no records, even though I know there are records in my table which should be returned.

I have created a form that searches a table to show certain criteria. I am having trouble with a part where the table uses a checkbox and I am trying to use a combo box on the search form to return the results based on is it checked? Yes/No or both. When I test it I keep getting Runtime error 3075 missing operator.

The sql I am using is below and when I try and see where it is going wrong it highlights the line.
