Combobox Reference In WHERE Clause Of View
Feb 22, 2006
I have an Access project in which the main form is based on a view. The WHERE clause in the view needs to equate the value of a table field to the value of a combobox on the form. In the script that creates the view, I get a syntax error when the clause is:
WHERE Acct = [Forms]![frmMain]![cboAcct]
When I changed the clause to:
WHERE Acct = Me.cboAcct
I got no syntax error, but I got an error when I tried to run the script.
How should I code the script so I can create the view?

I have an access db that is linked to a sharepoint list (the list originated in Access).I tried a simple select query with parameters to search for by id and another query of the same table to search by date. They both come back with the same error of "cannot reference a table with a multivalued field using an IN clause that refers to another database"Iv'e gone through the table and these fields that the query is using and none seem to have any multivalues.

I made a form that has a combobox that references the combo box above it, and it all worked fine, then I moved it into a navigation form and it stopped working. This was because the source was still using the static reference of the standalone form, not the subform it is now. So I've changed the row source a number of times, but each time, when run, access fails to find it, instead asking for a parameter to be input. The lines
The Nav form is Navigation_Form, the subform is MCR_Log, the combo box is Affected_Subservices and the referenced combobox is Affected_Services.
Code:
Forms!Navigation_Form!MCR_Log.Form!Affected_Services
or
Code:
Me!Affected_Services
does not work, even if I change the bangs and dots around. I can't attach the file to this forum, so here is a dropbox link to have a play around.
Bonus Question, I want the first combobox to accept multiple arguments, and the second to display all the subservices under each service, would the record source for that look something like
Code:
SELECT Subservices.Subservice FROM Subservices WHERE Subservices.Parent = Me!*Affected_Services*;
?

I have a Form which I have linked correctly to a subform. The Text boxes are showing in the Design view but are not when one switches to the Form View. Labels for Fields are visible in the Form View. Have even created a new subform and that will also not display the Text Boxes.

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?

See title :)
I have seen that in some sample db's rightclicking the mouse showed the menu with an option to check or uncheck the dataview option, unchecked the formview was applied, but when i 'just' import the subform, i cannot find somewhere the possibility to change from dataview to formview.
Maybe someone can help me with this, probably very simple(?), question?

Else
If (Me.Manufacturer.Value = "Samsung") Then
Me.Model.RowSourceType = "Table/Query"
Me.Model.Recordset = "SamsungTable"

I have a table called NewTransactions_tbl that I have been using for some time. I am trying to add a new field called CustomerProjectNumber. It's not being displayed when I look at the table view. I've attached an image showing the settings for the field. I am probably missing something obvious.
Any ideas why it is not showing?
I am using Access 2000.

I have 4 tables and around 440 records but can only view up to 417 in the form I have designed. I have been adding new records via form and it has been added to my main table, but when i try to view it in form view - the record is not available to view. What do I need to do to correct this problem?
I have checked that there are no filters, data entry is set to No, Auto deletions, additions and edits are set to yes.
Also to mention it seems that the problem has arisen since I set up some new queries, there is a one to one relationship between the tables!

I want to "zoom" to the underliyng data from pivot view. When in excel someone doubleclicks a field in a pivot table, it automatically creates a table containing all the lines that field were made up from. I want to achieve the same behaviour in Access.I started to think towards a VBA coda, that could be initiated from the form's double click event. It should go to datasheet view with the prpoer filter criterias.

I have 2 comboboxes, the first one is called "activity", whereby I have 3 options to choose from, and the second is called "level".
When I click an "activity", for example Drawings, I want the "level" combobox to list a unique set of options for that category. and if I click on a different "activity" for example Planning, I want the "level" combobox to show a completely different set of options.
If anyone can give me any help on how to do this then I would be very grateful!!
Thanks

I have an select statment that pulls data from a server. This server is really slow, and there is quite a bit of data. This statement has the following where clause.
"WHERE upc_number = '" & strPikWhere & "' AND ((dbo_root_description_type.description_name)='PFM S' Or " & _
"(dbo_root_description_type.description_name)='Full tech') AND ((dbo_root_price.zone) Not Like '8*') " & _
I was wondering if the order of these where statements would make a difference, and if so how?

Hi,
I have a query using the between clause with dates #01/01/2006# and #01/01/2007#. I have been reading a little on the between clause and it differs from SQL program to SQL program. What are its characteristics in MS Access is it >=#01/01/2006# AND <=#01/01/2007# or >=#01/01/2006# AND <#01/01/2007#.
Thank you.

In one of my queries, I'd like to reuse a calculated field as
criteria in the Where clause. SQL seems reluctant to want to
do this. You can RESTATE the calculation in the Where clause,
but can't refer to it by Name. You can Order by it, but it
can't be in the Where clause.
If the query result set consists on a set of Named columns, why
can you refer to a calculated column by Name in the "Order By"
clause but not in the Where clause?
Why is this OK?
Select FldA As FirstField,
FldB As SecondField,
FldA - FldB As TheDifference <-- Just a calculated field
From SomeTable
And this is OK?
Select FldA As FirstField,
FldB As SecondField,
FldA - FldB As TheDifference
From SomeTable
Order By TheDifference <-- Order By is OK
And this in not OK?
Select FldA As FirstField,
FldB As SecondField,
FldA - FldB As TheDifference
From SomeTable
Where TheDifference > 100 <-- Can't use TheDifference in Where clause
Don't want to repeat the calculation.
Select FldA As FirstField,
FldB As SecondField,
FldA - FldB As TheDifference
From SomeTable
Where FldA - FldB > 100 <-- I know this works, but ...
Order By TheDifference

Hi
I have a problem with an Order By Clause.
Basically, my database holds records of sites in the UK, and I have a select query (qry_SumGIS3) that opens up a summary report (rptSumGIS3) when a button is clicked on the menu page. The report opens perfectly, showing me all the information I need to know about all the sites in my database. However, it is ignoring the Order By Clause I have specifically told it to do. I want to order the records that appear in the report by a calculated field (OBJ_WS_OVERALL_CALC) in descending order (highest to lowest percentage). Instead, it is ordering it by the site id (RTP_ID). How can I stop it doing this?
This is my code (that was created in the SQL view of the query design):
"SELECT MEASURE1.OBJ_WS_OVERALL_CALC, [Tab 1: Factual].RTP_ID, OBJECTIVES.OBJ_ID, OBJECTIVES.OBJ_NAME, MEASURE1.MEASURE_ID, MEASURE.MEASURE_NAME, MEASURE1.MEASURE_SCORE, MEASURE1.MEASURE_WEIGHT
FROM [Tab 1: Factual] INNER JOIN (OBJECTIVES INNER JOIN (MEASURE1 INNER JOIN MEASURE ON MEASURE1.MEASURE_ID = MEASURE.MEASURE_ID) ON OBJECTIVES.OBJ_ID = MEASURE.OBJ_ID) ON [Tab 1: Factual].RTP_ID = MEASURE1.RTP_ID
ORDER BY MEASURE1.OBJ_WS_OVERALL_CALC;"
The red line is the part of the code that I think is being ignored.
Anyone that can help me is a lifesaver!
