Conditional Picture In Access Report

Sep 20, 2006

I would like to have a picture appear in the detail section of my access report if a certain condition is true.

For example, if [Membership] = "Gold" I would like to have a small bitmap logo displayed (clip art of a gold star).

So, in effect I want an unbound image to be visible or not visible based on some other field in the report.

Reports :: Embedd Picture In Report

Dec 16, 2013

I have a database "report" that is actually a letter head statement that will be sent to different hospitals based on the donor and different procedures completed.There will be a total of 6 people using the database.What I want to do is have a "hidden" picture of their signature and based on who the choose in the drop down (sending the letter) it will show their signature.

What I can get it to do:Show the signature when I place the code in the "on current" event...but only after they actually click on the report.

Get it to save the report to a folder, open an email object and attached that report.The problem: Show the signature "right off the bat"..Saving the signature to the "Saved" file.how to show this signature? Below is the code I have it the report:

Code:
Private Sub Report_Current()
If Me.Text31 = "User1" Then
Me.User1.Visible = True
ElseIf Me.Text31 = "User2" Then
Me.User2.Visible = True
End If
End Sub

General :: Conditional Formatting Of Report Fields

Dec 11, 2012

I am struggling to format a field on a report.

I believe it is because special charachters are in the text string

I want to highlight the field if it contains the following text

Stage 6: Won and Deploy (shipping)

Regretably, I believe Access see this as code.

I suspect I need to encapsulate it some way, but nothing seems to be working

What am I missing?? How can I force Access to see it as a text string??

Reports :: Conditional Formatting Text Box On A Report

Jul 3, 2013

I have a text box on a report from the Control Source CSCS Expiry Date. The format in the table and query and report is Short Date. The Text Format is Plain Text.

I have named the text box txtCSCSExpiryDate. I would like to make the background red when the date is 01/04/2013. I have ensured the text box back style is normal.

I am using expression
[txtCSCSExpiryDate]=#01/04/2013#

And in case it was the Control Source:
[CSCS Expiry Date]=#01/04/2013#

I also tried:
[CSCS Expiry Date]<Date()
[txtCSCSExpiryDate]<Date()

I applied the formatting each time, tried closing and re-opening the database. Changed the background format colour to green instead of red and even restarted my computer and it just stays exactly the same.

I've just noticed something else. I have a screen only button on my report header with

DoCmd.OpenReport "All_CSCSExpiry_Rpt" acViewPreview

Which has also stopped working. I get an error:

The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: A problem occurred while Employee Details was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX Control.

Is this linked to my formatting not working?

I've just checked and on my 5 reports all of the print buttons are giving me this error! (I added the button as they are part of a navigation form menu which only shows report view, I am editing in the original report design view though.) They were working yesterday! Is it because I compacted and repaired the database?

Conditional Tallying, Linked .xls, Access Table Creation

May 14, 2007

Hi all-
I work for a staffing firm and I'm trying to figure out a way to turn exports from our vendor-based sql gui (i.e. I can only get .xls files out of it, can't just run SQL queries) into spiffy reports using Crystal Reports. My grand plan is to use Access to process these various XLS files (one for each client) by linking them to an Access DB and coding a table to conditionally tally individual records based on different criteria.

The criteria are company name, position name, date submitted, active, and status. I was able to code an Excel template that did the trick perfectly, but required each file to be edited to reflect the new report format, and updated as more positions are added. My question is this: is there some way for me to create a DB that links to the XLS files for each client and puts each company name, position name, date submitted (pulled straight from XLS files) and then the following tallies:

submitted (just # of pos name by date)
accepted (status != "s" AND active = "y" by date)
etc.

I don't really expect someone to do all my coding for me, maybe just point me in the right direction, as the only coding outside of excel formula coding (which I feel doesn't really count despite my proficiency) that I've done has been over a decade ago. Any suggestions?

Forms :: Continuous Subform With Conditional Formatting (Access 2007)

May 15, 2014

I have a continuous subform with a fairly complex snapshot query as its record source. I have controls on the main form to allow criteria parameters for the query and a command button to requery the subform based on the selected criteria. I also have conditional formatting on a number of the continuous controls in the subform (the conditions are fairly straightforward, i.e. highlight if null, true/false etc)

When the subform is (re)queried, it seems to repaint several times (3 or 4 although it appears arbitrary to me) before it eventually settles. And it really louses up the aesthetics as controls flicker between colours; sometimes I even lose the background colour on parts of the detail section, or controls disappear altogether. And this continues as I scroll down the subform (or even click anywhere on it)

I don't mind that the query itself takes some time to run - of the order of a few seconds each time - but I'd prefer for the screen to wait until the query is completed, and all of the CF applied, before refreshing itself, instead of 'sweeping' top to bottom repeatedly. It's a snapshot query so once it's run, there should be no changes to the dataset.

I've tried Application.Echo but it has no effect whatsoever.

Picture Box

Jan 24, 2006

Here is my situation. I have a database with a table in which contains all of the names and members of our club. Every member in our club has a rank, the rank is held in a field called "rank". I also have a form which is used to add and edit the information into this table. The form that i have create is a bog standard form with nothing special on it. What i would like to be able to do is when the form loads and the information from the table populates it, i would like a picture box to hold a picture that represents there position like an avatar. I have tried doing this myself however my attempts just resulted in errors about not have the form focus. I use the code editor to do this. I know this is possible to do as i have seen it on some other projects.

If any one has any idea or hints about how i can do this please reply.
As an added thing i would prefer if it was done in the code editor as the machine it has to run on has macros disabled.

Picture Advice/help

Aug 23, 2005

Hi guys.

I have been told to make my database look 'sexier' but I am a bit worried that the pictures may slow it down or increase it's size unneccesarily.

Speed is an issue because we have some offices that dial in and access it that way and as such are limited to their connection speed.

So what I want to do is created a few images, link to them, and put in code that can 'turn them on'.

The question is how?

I have created a new image object. Changed it's properties to linked.

Now I need some code that reads:

If myvalue = "Yes" then
myImage.visible = true
Else
'code to delete image
End If

I am a bit worried because that means that the images will always be there on load up, so loading the form will be just as slow because the images are there.

Or maybe I can do

If myvalue = "Yes" then
'code to create image
End If

Please help.

Edit - Part two to this question is: How do I use relative links for images? I have a folder of images and I want them to work no matter where the database sits.

Edit again - Just another question: Is it possible to have Images appear and disappear depending where the mouse is?
