I have 12 folders (User1 - User12) located in "c:users..."
When I select a UserName from a combo box in a form e.g. User3 , a list of all files with extensions ".doc" in the respective directory (c:usersuser3*.doc) should render with a hyperlink to the file / s.
I have tried variouse "Select Case" and "FileSearch, FoundFiles" scripts, to no avail.
Any assitance would appreciated.

On trying to import an Excel 2007 file into Access 2007 I get the following:
1) Choose "External Data," Import, Exce
2) Select small file in MS Excel 2007 format.
3) Click on Import the source data into a new table ...
4) Choose OK
Immediately get "Microsoft Office Access has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." This message never resolves, so I have to click 'Cancel'.
Then I get "Microsoft Office Access is trying to recover your information..." I have to click "Cancel" here as well and then kill MS Access in Task Manager.
Event Viewer gives following message, which is of no help:
"ID: 2, Application Name: Microsoft Office Access, Application Version: 12.0.6211.1000, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6215.1000. This session lasted 710 seconds with 120 seconds of active time. This session ended with a crash."
Trying to import a small Excel 2003 file leads the same result. The same happens with a CSV file.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007 as well. I am using Vista Ultimate.
I have turned off DEP.
How can I get MS Access 2007 to import Excel?
Thanks
Ken

I installed Office Enterprise 2007. Then I installed DEveloper Exrtensions, then Access Runtime 2007. All appear to have installed OK - they appear in Program and Features.
Instructions on runtime packaging tell me that a Developer option should appear in the resulting drop-down when I click the Office button (top-left round thing) when I have a d/b open in Access. It's not there! I have un-installed and re-installed the extensions and the runtime - still nothing!
Help!
I do have Runtime 2002 (XP) on the same PC, is that relevant?

Anyone know the answer? I'm testing something out but I'm using another querying tool to get the data which is greater than 65k (excels limit), so I can't import the data I have to manually copy/paste.

I'm trying to automate a process of selecting a set of file/s and move them in a folder. When I click on a button, it should open a current folder that is setup in the code.
Lets say that I have a folder C:documents est, and very time I click on the button, it should open the dialog box with that path so I can select the files from another folder, drag them there and they will be saved in that folder.
This will form part of wider automation that will send an email stating that those file/s where placed in that folder.
I have in the same form where the button is placed, 3 check boxes that needs to be passed to the email as well that one or all the files where placed in the folder.

I'm trying to open a folder based on a BIN nr. This folder could be in a main folder that has diferent subfolder. As there where differnt naming used to create the folderes, one of the things they have always is the BIN nr. It alwasy start with a unique number and maybe I could use it to scan the subfolders and open that one that the BIN nr is equal as in the field BIN.
Now we have serveral 1000th of folders and finding them takes time.

Hi all,
I'm quite new to access, and have a pretty straightforward problem (I hope):
I have a table with 300 records in 10 columns. I want to:
1. filter the data based on column A (gives me 150 visible records)
2. Copy from an excel spreadsheet which exactly matches the access table (single column only, 150 rows)
3. Paste into a new column I created in the access table
Unfortunately, when I hit paste in access, it loses the filter and pastes the data into the complete dataset (i.e. into the wrong records).
I've no idea why access won't keep the filter I set. I also tried numbering the records and sorting them based on this new column. Again, Access lost the sort order before pasting the data.
Help!
I really need to be able to paste my excel data into the table in access!
Can anyone shed some light for me?
Thanks in advance,
Lee

I have a handheld that downloads a CSV file which I copy and paste into an Access database. I was using XP and moved to 2010, with xp this worked great. In 2010 some fields that text and/or numbers will only copy the numbers and the field that have text will just have a blank in access. Is there a fix for this?

Hi all..
I have access 2003 and I package my application with Access runtime. Users do not have access installed in their computers.
The problem the users have is, they cannot Copy/Cut/Paste from the textbox controls in the application..The same application when I run using my full version of Access 2003, I can cut/paste...
Is there a way to fix it without having to get full version of access ? or I have to live with it because I use access runtime.
Thanks

I have several Access 2003 databases that the Copy Paste functions become disabled (grayed out) on a random basis. If I reboot, copy paste are active until they are used once or twice and then they become disabled. This happened on a client´s windows xp system and my windows 2000 system. Not sure, but it may be related to the amount of data in the copy buffer.
Has there been a recent access update that causes it to not clear the copy buffer? If so, how can I clear it without having to reboot?
Help ...

I'm not sure where this question belongs but I need to give users the ability to create a small table in MSWord or another program, and then paste the table into a data field. An image of the table would be fine. But it needs to be user friendly.
If that's not possible they could just create a Rich Text document with text formatted in a table form with out gridlines. I would need about a 2000 character limit. Not sure if this is reasonable or not??

I would like to ask if it is possible to use the contents of a table as a comparator? For example, I have this column in my table that has the schedules of the professor, if the professor for example failed to login within fifteen minutes after his/her supposed start of class a message will be displayed on the screen notifying that the professor has not yet logged in.

Hi,
Does anyone know how to exclude the header information when copying a record from an Access table and pasting it into Excel. When I paste into Excel, it is also pasting the header information from Access which I do not want. I only want the data to be pasted.
Thanks for the help in advance.

I am developing a form whereby the user types a single character or a sequence of characters into textbox and a query WHERE clause is compiled upon each character being entered.
The query is the Row Source of a listbox which I requery upon each change in the text box contents.
In the Change event I cannot access the new contents of the textbox until focus moves to another control and then back to the textbox. This is not how I expect this event to work.

I am very new to access less than 1 week since i started trying to build an horse racing database, i am trying to link data from 2 different sources via the horses name however one source displays this with the horses country of origin in parenthesis foe example FRANKEL(GB) and the other source displays the name as just FRANKEL, to be honest i haven't yet tried the link but guess it will fail.
I am therefore looking to get rid of the parentheses and their contents from an access table field and create another field without them.
In Excel i use the formula B1:
=TRIM(REPLACE(A1,FIND("(",A1&"("),FIND(")",A1&")")-(FIND("(",A1&"(")-1),"")) and that works fine.
I guessed the solution for Access would be newname:
TRIM(REPLACE([frhorse.NAME],FIND("(",[frhorse.NAME]&"("),FIND(")",[frhorse.NAME]&")")-(FIND("(",[frhorse.NAME]&"(")-1),""))
But this doesn't work as in returns undefined function "FIND" in expression error.

I know how to put things on to the clipboard, DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdCopy
I just want to view the current contents of the clipboard in access 2003 using vba.
I Found this code whilst searching for a solution:-
Dim DataObj As New MSForms.DataObject
DataObj.GetFromClipboard
MyString = DataObj.GetText
But it needs the Microsoft Forms2 Object Library
This is not in the list of references, how to get it?
Or how to read the clipboard a different way.

Please forgive my Newbieness and accept I am a keen ametuer running a small business and trying to use access as a tool. No doubt I will be back with many questions as you all seem so knowledgeable, thanks in advance.
Can't really do code but get on OK with built in wizards etc. Wonder if someone might be able to help with this one:
Is it possible to set a command into a form that opens up a windows folder elsewhere on the computer or network? For example, receive email from DIY multiple containing kitchen plan, installation costing etc, as attachments. File attachments in folder on server, manually enter detail into access database which generates "Customer ID Number", decides which fitter, surveyor etc. then need to email a report (have managed conversion to PDF and to launch outlook) but then wanted to copy and attach the original attachments to this new email, along with Access report for forwarding to various surveyors / fitters around the UK. Thus require if poss to open file on server, copy attachments and paste in new e mail, thought it would save time to do by one button press to open server file??
May seem easier to just forward original e mail but unfortunately some of the info in the mails from the DIY multiples is not for distribution and filtering isn't possible.
Perhaps one simply can't do it but worth asking, thanks again. Paul

I would like to open an Excel workbook from MS Access and clear cell contents, or just delete some records in a specific worksheet.
If you open the test workbook, cell contents in RAW need to be deleted by calling from Access.
I have produced some code but it's partially working.
Code:
Sub TestFileOpened()
' Test to see if the file is open.
If IsFileOpen("test.xls") Then
' Display a message stating the file in use.
MsgBox "File already in use!"
[Code] ....
If you put this in a standard module in access, the function works, but the part that doesn't work is where it says "activesheet". It somehow tries to recognize it as a variable, but it's not going to be a variable.
